Robert William Thompson

Robert Thompson, 83, of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, November 21, 2001, in Espanola Hospital in Espanola, N.M.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 29 at Calvary Memorial Evangelical Free Church in Gering. Interment was at West Lawn cemetery in gering.

Memorials can be made to the Harrisburg Community Church and the Banner County Historical Museum.

He was born March 21, 1908, to Martha (Francis) and James Thompson in Anderson County, Kan. In 1926, he graduated from Welda High School in Welda, Kan. He married Edith Carolyn Riebe January 5, 1931, in Aberdeen, S.D. They moved to Harrisburg in May 1949.

He farmed his entire life, first in South Dakota until 1935, in Missouri and then in Harrisburg.

He was a member of the Harrisburg Community Church, serving as treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Harrisburg and was a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Martha and Charles Bonds of Gering; sons and daughter-in-law Robert and Eliza of Santa Crus, N.M. and Marvin Thompson of Albuquerque, N.M., 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith; brother Walter; and son Bill.

Thomas R. Laycock

Former Pine Bluffs resident Thomas R. Laycock, 72, of LaGrange Wyo., died Tuesday, September 25, 2001. He has family in the Pine Bluffs area.

Funeral services were Friday, September 28, at the LaGrange High School Gymnasium in LaGgrange, with Pastor Sheila Taylor and Pastor Don Mathis co-officiating. Burial with military rites followed at the LaGrange cemetery.

He was born September 6, 1929, to James and Martha (Freudenthal) Laycock in Burns, Wyo. He grew up and received his education in Pine Bluffs and Albin, Wyo. He served in the U.S. Army in 1952, serving for two years in Korea. He married Carolyn Gregory in Cheyenne, Wyo., April 28, 1957.

The couple farmed and ranched in the Meridan area before moving to Casper, Wyo., for nine years. They returned to LaGrange, purchased a farm and raised their family there. They moved into LaGrange in 1984.

He was employed by the Town of LaGrange for 20 years and as a Goshen County School District bus driver for 26 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #70 of LaGrange and had served on the LaGrange Volunteer Fire Department and the Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters Moneen Birge of Dallas and Rene Baker and her husband Steven of Torrington; son Daniel and his wife Dana of Pine Bluffs; sisters Elizabeth Bradley and Irene Spier, both of Pine Bluffs; brother Robert and his wife Donna of LaGrange and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glen and a sister, Mary Alice Judy.

Memorial contributions can be made to Prairie Haven Hospice or to the family for memorials to be designated at a later date. The Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington was in charge of arrangements.

Inda Kay Brauer

Banner County resident Inda Kay Brauer, 89, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at ther home.

Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial park Crematory in Scottsbluff. An inurnment will be held in the Kimball cemetery at a later date.

She was born on November 26, 1911, to Arthur and Myrtle (Bigsby) Olsen in Banner County in an old log house. She attended grade school at Flowerfield and high school in Harrisburg. She attended college preparatory in Wyoming. She attended college in Kearney. She attended cosmetology college in Denver, Colo. and became an instructor there.

She married Edward F. Brauer in February of 1933.

She lived in Denver most of her life, moving back to Banner County six years ago.

She is survived by her son, Michael of banner Coounty; one niece; and numerous cousings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Lonnie W. Mowry

Former Kimball resident Lonnie W. Mowry, 55, died September 27, 2001.

Memorial services were Monday, October 1, at Widerspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

He was born August 14, 1945, in Oberlin, Kan. He has lived in Cheyenne, Wyo., for 17 years. He worked in the oil field as a security guard and telephone operator. He ran a filling station.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene; daughter and son-in-law Jeannie and Troy Probert; his mother, Waneta Mowry, of Clifton, Iowa; his twin brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Bonnie Mowry, of Clifton; sisters Joyce Girot of Broken Arrow, Okla. Joan Bigman and her husband Dave, of Clifton; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Roland; three sons; his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Maxine M. Stormberg

Maxine M. Stormberg, 78 of Kimball died at the Kimball County Manor on Tuesday, September 25, 2001.

A funeral service was held Friday, September 28, at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball, with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker will officiating. Burial was at the Kimball cemetery.

She was born October 24, 1922, to Herman and Ida (Mueller) Gehrke at Grafton, Neb. The family lived south of Bushnell for many years where they farmed. They later moved into Bushnell.

She married Richard N. Stormberg June 15, 1952. After their marriage, they moved to Kimball. They ran several different businesses in Kimball including the Slumber J Motel and Kimball Clothing Store. They also owned several rental properties.

She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church of Kimball.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Lisa Stormberg of Denver and her brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Gail Gehrke Gail of Bushnell.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 8, 1999, and one brother, Delbert.

Memorial Gifts may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Inc.

Florence “Jackie” Standridge

Former Kimball resident Florence “Jackie” Standridge, 83, of Steamboat Springs, Colo., died Thursday, September 6, 2001, at the Doak Walker Care Center. She lived in Kimball in the 1960’s.

Graveside services were held Monday, September 10, at the Hayden cemetery.

She was born September 3, 1918, to Frank and Clara (Edwards) Stephens in Amber, Okla.. She married Thomas G. Standridge on July 23, 1938, in Grady County, Okla. She moved back to Routt County from New Mexico in 1995.

Survivors include a son, William “Wart” Standridge, of Hayden, Colo., who was raised in Kimball; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one sister; and a half-brother.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas and two brothers.

Peterson Funeral Home of Steamboat was in charge of arrangements.

Laten Leroy Taylor

Former Kimball resident Laten Leroy Taylor of Worland, Wyo., 73, died September 12, 2001, at his home.

A private graveside service will be held at a future date at Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery in Worland. He has been cremated.

He was born to George and Sarah (Philpot) Taylor November 8, 1927, in Kimball, where he was raised. He joined the U.S. Navy on February 26, 1946, and served aboard the USS Philippine Sea. After his discharge in 1950, he returned to Nebraska. In 1951, he moved to Worland. He married Martha “Marty” Taylor August 31, 1955, at Worland.

He is survived by his wife; sons Jeffrey and Terry, both of Worland; and David of Rapid City, S.D.; daughters TeresaTaylor of Billings, Mont. and Mary Taylor of Billings, Mont.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Connie Bowers, 316 South 21st St., Worland, Wyo, 82041.

Veile Mortuary of Worland was in charge of the arrangements.

Ella Mae Snyder

Former Banner County resident Ella Mae Snyder, 93, of Loveland, Colo., died Friday, September 7, 2001 at Loveland Good Samaritan Healthcare. She was the sister of Robert Brown of Kimball and the step-grandmother of Lorri Norberg of Bushnell.

A funeral service was held Monday, September 10, at the Loveland Good Samaritan Healthcare Chapel. Graveside services were at the Kimball cemetery, Wednesday, September 12, with Rev. Roger Gillming officiating.

She was born January 24, 1908, to Arthur "Diner" Brown and Myrtle Stribling Brown in Kimball, Neb. Her family lived on a farm west of Kimball. She graduated from Kimball County High School in 1926. After attending Kearney State College and the University of Wyoming, she taught school in Kimball County and Banner County.

She married Arthur "Boney" Snyder on December 20, 1931, at Gering, Neb. They made their home in Banner Country until retiring 33 years ago. After retiring, they traveled across most of the United States, spending winters in Arizona and summers in Loveland. Six years ago, they made Loveland their year-round home. In April 2001, they moved to Loveland Good Samaritan Village.

For 10 years, Ella Mae and her husband helped at the United Camp Ground. She also belonged to the LLL Extension Club and attended the Twin Tree Chapel.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Cherie of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a nephew raised as a son, Richard Brown and wife Lila of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Anacortes, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Gerri Brown of Kimball; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Douglas, Bert & Nathan "Cub" Brown and sister Irma Brown; a grandson and step-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Loveland Good Samaritan Village or Hospice of Larimer County, c/o Allnutt Funeral Home, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.

Allnutt Funeral Home and Cantrell Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

Ethel A. Gade

Former Kimball resident Ethel A. Gade, 86, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Saturday, September 8, 2001. She and her husband, Victor Everett Gade operated a motel business here for 28 years until 1968.

Funeral services are scheduled Friday, September 14, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Denver. Burial of cremains will be in Crown Hill cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

She was born at rural Lyons, Neb., to Henry and Ella (Rabe) Kahler on September 20, 1914. She and her husband lived in Sidney for 28 years before moving to Kimball. They retired in Thornton, Colo., in 1976. In May 2001, she moved to Atlantic to be near her youngest son.

Survivors include two sons, Kent of Griswold and Dennis of Denver; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers and one sister.

Adolph J. Schadegg, Jr.

Kimball resident Adolph J. "Bud" Schadegg, 75, died at the Kimball County Hospital on Sunday, September 9, 2001.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, September 12, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball, with Rev. Francis Curran officiating. Cremation was held and private inurnment was at the Kimball cemetery.

He was born on March 10, 1926, to Adolph and Cloretta (Zegers) Schadegg at David City, Neb. He was a life-long resident of the area, having moved here as a small child. He married Beverly (Muhe) Kuhrt on April 1, 1985.

He worked as a rancher and farmer and as a carpenter. He had also operated a cafC in Kimball and was very active with rodeo's.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; children Charlene and her husband Lon Mowry of Cheyenne, Wyo., Debra and her husband John Pinkley of Bushnell, Gary Lee Schadegg and his wife Penny of Kimball and Robbie Schadegg of Bushnell; stepchildren Ronald Groves and his wife Sharon, Bill Kuhrt and his wife Sue and Starla Kuhrt, all of Gillette, Wyo; sisters and brothers-in-law Gerry and Clem Demuth of Seward, Neb., Eileen and Alvie Wynne of Norwalk, Ca., Margaret and John Wynne of Kimball; brother Lou Schadegg of Hamilton, Mt.; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several step-grand and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jackie, a son Richard and four grandchildren.

William “Bill” Schoenemann

William "Bill" Schoenemann, 75 of Kimball died at Scottsbluff on Wednesday, September 5, 2001. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 8, 2001 in the First English Lutheran Church of Kimball with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. Interment will be in the Kimball cemetery with presentation of the flag by Kimball Post #2243 VFW.

Memorial Gifts may be made to either the Diabetes Foundation or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the First English Lutheran Church. The Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born in Scottsbluff on January 9, 1926 to William A and Abbie L. (McClanahan) Schoenemann. He was a life long resident of this area and for many years farmed north of Kimball. Bill had also worked in the Oil Fields in the 1950's.

He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1947. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bill loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He was married to Emily Anne Rice and to that union three children were born. On March 3, 1974 he married Grethe (Bagge) in Kimball. He is survived by his wife Grethe, his mother Abbie Pedersen of Kimball, two sons, David and his wife Terry Schoenemann of Kimball and Stan and his wife Rhonda Schoenemann of Crawford, and one daughter Rhonda Sue Randall of Burley, Idaho.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his step-father P.A. Pedersen and a sister Beverly Halstead.
