Richad W. Regier

Age 63, York resident

Richard W. Regier age 63 of York died Friday, June 4, 2004 at York.

He was born September 23, 1940 at Lushton, NE., to Ferdinand E. and Tena (Hildebrand) Regier and was a 1958 graduate of Henderson High School. He was retired from Nebraska Public Power after 22 years of service working in the communications department.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in York, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3990 in York, the Harley Owner's Group, Wild Bunch Coyote Hunting Group, was an avid gun collector and also collected die cast model tractors. Richard was formerly the American Motorcycle Association District Champion of the Grass and Dirt track Scramble.

On January 16, 1961 he was married to Marilynne Rae Adams at York.

He is survived by two sons, Alan R. and his wife Angela Regier of Sioux City, IA., and Randy J. and his wife Leslie Regier of York.

Two daughters, Tammy and her husband Greg Lott of Benedict and Tonita and her husband Daniel Stovall of Temple, TX.

6 Grandchildren; Nicholas Lott of York, Jessica Lott of Benedict, Caleb Stovall, Benjamin Stovall and Abigail Stovall all of Temple, TX., and Wyatt Regier of York. Also surviving is his mother Tena Regier of Henderson.

Two brothers, Wendell and his wife LaVerna Regier of Henderson and Eugene and his wife Katie Regier of Scott City, KS. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, his former wife Marilynne and a son Arlin.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday June 9, 2004 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. Private family graveside services will be held prior to services at the Mennonite Cemetery near Lushton. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family will greet friends and neighbors Monday starting at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Tuesday at the mortuary. Condolences may be emailed to metz@metzmortuary.com

Linnea Krol

Stromsburg resident, 82

Linnea Miliana (Nelson) Krol, age 82, of Stromsburg, died May 30, 2004 at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church at Swede Home with Pastor Donna Durrette officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roberts-Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola. Burial will be in the Swede Home Cemetery.

Theodore "Ted" Jorgensen

Exeter resident, 97

Theodore "Ted" Jorgensen, 97, widower of Hazel, of Exeter, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 in Lincoln. He was born February 18, 1907 to Anton and Marie (Adamsen) Jorgensen.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Letha Jorgensen of Exeter; brothers Harold Jorgensen and Rex Jorgensen both of Exeter; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at the United Church of Christ in Exeter. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4 at Farmer Funeral Home in Exeter. Graveside services will take place at Exeter Cemetery in Exeter with the Rev. Bharat Surender. Memorials may be directed to the United Church of Christ in Exeter and the Exeter Rescue Squad.

Ilene L. Samuelson

Stromsburg resident, 69

Ilene L. Samuelson, 69 years old of Stromsburg died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the York General Hospital in York.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg. Pastor Bob Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Swede Home Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.

Mrs. Samuelson was born December 16, 1934 near Davenport, Nebraska to Merle and Emma (McCalister) Johnson. The family moved to West Concord, Minnesota, where she attended school. Then they moved to Sutton, Nebraska where she graduated from High School in 1953. She then moved to Tacoma, Washington. Then she moved to York, Nebraska where she made her home with Raymond and Verna Johnson.

On September 4, 1965 she married Wallace Samuelson in York.

Mrs. Samuelson worked as a nurses aide in the York Hospital in York and at Anne Jeffery Hospital in Osceola. She also worked in the activities department at Midwest Covenant Home where she instructed ceramics for several years.

She enjoyed baking cookies, ceramics and collecting cook books.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace of Stromsburg, a twin sister, Irene (James) Norton of Tacoma, Washington, a step brother, Wallace Everett of California, nieces and nephews and special friends, Herb and Susan Hanson and family.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jo Floren.

Susan D. Trumble

Lincoln resident, 52

Susan D. Trumble, 52, of Lincoln died Thursday, June 3, 2004. She was born at Geneva Nov. 10, 1951. She was a clerical worker for the Health Care Industry.

Survivors include her parents, Louie Moul of Hampton and Joan Moul of Geneva; two sons, Jeff Trumble and Andrew Trumble of Lincoln; daughter, Heather Smith of Gresham; two grandchildren; brother, J.R. Moul of Longview, Wash.; and sister, Leigh Moberg of Galesburg, Ill.

A funeral mass will be held Monday, June 7, 2004 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Parish, 6126 Morrill Ave. Viewing just prior to service at the church. Cremation. Memorials to the family in lieu of flowers.

Richard W. Regier

York resident, 63

Richard W. Regier of York died Friday, June 4, 2004. Services are pending. Metz Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

His early years were spent in the Hampton area, where he attend country school and graduated from Hampton High School. Edmond then farmed with his father.

On June 4, 1944 he was united in marriage to Ruth Troester at Salem Lutheran Church near Hampton. They lived on his parents' farm for four years before moving to their farm in 1948. Edmond was active on the farm until several years ago, when he retired. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Edmond was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where he served as head usher for many years. he served on the Farmers Union Board for many years, taking his father's place on the board. Edmond also served on the Hampton Co-op Board and the St. Peters Lutheran School Board. Edmond, B.N. Greenberg and Hans Jensen were instrumental in getting research started on controlling rootworm at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He loved telling stories with family and friends. He loved a good joke and loved to laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Willis and Elmer, and four sisters, Esther Hahle, Frances Harter, Mildred Traudt and Ruth Wert.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Ruth of Hampton, son Art (Carole) George, of Hampton, three daughters, Katheryn George of Hampton, Evelyn (Merlin) Eriksen of Hordville and Joyce George and fiancee DeLayne Peck, both of Lincoln. 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at the St.Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. George Damn will officiate. Internment will be at the Salem Cemetery near Hampton.

Phyllis C. Barton

Age 77, Seward resident

Phyllis C. Barton, 77, Seward resident formerly of Utica, died June 3, 2004.

Phyllis was born September 28, 1926 to Fred and Ella May Barton. She Attended the United Methodist Church in Utica. Phyllis was a retired employee of the Bethesda Care Center and Utica Community Care center. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, three sisters and two nephews.

Phyllis is survived by, her Niece Carol Mueller, of Maryville MO, Leland "Jim" and Janet Coon, of Seward, George and Susan Coon of Bella Vista AK, Johnnie and Polly Coon of Gresham, and many great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday, June 7, 2004 at the United Methodist Church in Utica, with the Reverent David Master officiating. Internment will be at the Utica Cemetery. The family is requesting memorials be made to the donors choice in care of the family.

Private family graveside services will be held prior to services at the Mennonite Cemetery near Lushton. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation begins after 1:00 p.m., Monday. The family will greet friends and neighbors 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Tuesday at the mortuary.

Ruth E. Bell

York resident, 87

Ruth E. Bell, 87 of York, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 in York. Ruth Eleanor Miller was born May 17, 1917 in York County to Roy and Julia (Stromberg) Miller and raised on a farm east of McCool Junction. She was a 1936 graduate of Bradshaw High School and married Louis Klinzman on December 30, 1939 in Fairmont, NE. The couple lived on a farm east of McCool. Ruth was a school cook at McCool Public Schools for 13 years. Louis died in 1963. Ruth moved to York in 1967 and worked for Tobers Clothing Store for 13 years. Ruth married Charles Bell on September 23, 1977 in York. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, U.M.W., Daughters of the Nile, York D.O.E.S., York Senior Fun Club, Royal Neighbors, served as chairman for the McCool March of Dimes and did other volunteer work in York and surrounding communities.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of York; one son, Louis L. Klinzman and wife Marilyn of Wahoo, NE; two grandchildren, Liesl Chloe Klinzman of Minneapolis, MN and Etienne Louis Klinzman of Lincoln, NE; two sisters, Marjorie Cudaback of Portland, OR and Opal Nixon of Wichita, KS; one brother, Orville Miller of Columbus, NE; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and husband Louis Klinzman.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10 at the First United Methodist Church in York. Burial in York's Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, York Community Foundation or Hospice of Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Metz Mortuary.
