Fred Schaldecker of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and formerly a resident of the Grafton area, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, in California.
Funeral services will be held at the Community Bible Church, Lushton, on Friday, Dec. 22.
Fred Lauerman
Frederick Joseph Lauerman, 79, of Stromsburg died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
He was born May 21, 1921, in Stromsburg. He attended Stromsburg Public Schools. He served in the 349th Signal Intelligence Service in the First Armored Division in World War II from 1942-1945. He was married to Laura A. Steever on June 29, 1946. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he served in Stromsburg for 30 years.
He was a member of the American Legion, Stromsburg Chamber of Commerce, Polk County Selective Service, Elks, Swedish Festival committees, Masonic Lodge #126, and Rob Morris Chapter #192 Order of the Eastern Star. He served as a volunteer fireman and was a long-time member of the Stromsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Jim (Meg) of Lincoln, and Tom (Nancy) of Leawood, Kan.; his daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Gustafson of Omaha; seven grandchildren; his sister, Clare (Don) Wingfield of Stromsburg; and his brother, Frank of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Laura; his parents, Edward and Josephine; his sisters, Viola, Evelyn, Delores and Patricia; and brothers, John and Ed.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Stromsburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Duane Tweeten officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Stromsburg Baptist Church or the Midwest Covenant Home.

Marie Henderson
Marie M. Henderson, 91, of Stromsburg died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 at the York General Hospital in York.
She was born Dec. 14, 1908, to John S. and Blanche P. (Hedges) Druba. She attended country school near Stockham and graduated from Aurora High School in 1925.
On Oct. 24, 1925, she was married to Walter E. Hoffman. To this union, two children were born. The family resided southeast of Polk on the family farm. On Nov. 22, 1960, Walter died.
In 1961, she began working at the Midwest Covenant Home as an aide, where she remained until retiring in 1980. On Feb. 7, 1967, Marie was married to Willard Henderson. They resided southeast of Polk. Her husband died in 1983.
She continued living on the farm until April 22, 1993, when she moved to Midwest Covenant Home, where she resided until her death.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen (Verland) Johnson of Osceola; one son, Curtis Hoffman of Benedict; one sister, Inez Hosier of Giltner; two brothers, Royal Druba of Novato, Calif., and Elmer Druba of Superior; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Wayne, Lee and Marian; one sister, Thelma; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Keith Brozek officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at York.

Marie McMillin
Marie McMillin, 87, of York died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at York.
She was born Sept. 27, 1913, at Waco to William and Maria (Dinkleman) Burhoop. Marie was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of York.
She was married on June 2, 1935, at Waco to Alwin C. Staehr. They owned and operated the Staehr Motel in York from 1935 to 1970. Alwin died in 1981. Marie married Loren McMillin at York on Oct. 17, 1987.
She is survived by her husband, Loren, of York; son, Fred and Jeanie Staehr of Jackson, Wyo.; and daughter, Barbara and Willis Driewer of York. Also surviving are two grandsons, Chad Driewer and his fiance, Lisa Lewallen, of Jackson, Wyo., and Kelly and Marissa Driewer of York; two granddaughters, Amy Staehr of Austin, Texas, and Susanne Staehr of Jackson, Wyo.; step-grandson, Jay and Alisha McMillin of Chubbuck, Idaho.
Besides her husband, Alwin, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother and two sisters.
Due to the building project at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of York, funeral services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church at York on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Art Brinkmeyer officiating. Burial will be at the St. John's Cemetery south of Waco.

York resident, 92
James A. McCormick, age 94, of York, died Christmas eve at the Hearthstone at York and his wife Bernice K. McCormick age 92 died Christmas day at the Hearthstone where they lived together since January.
James was born at York on Sept. 30, 1906 to James Edward and Catherine (Wieler) McCormick. He attended St. Ursula's Academy and York High School. Jim worked for over 50 years in the sheet metal, heating & air conditioning and roofing business with Wm. F. McCormick Inc. in York. James was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York and was a past Church Board chairman and member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the National Guard from 1925-28, was a member of the York Elks Lodge #1024 and had been a Scoutmaster of Troop 174.
He was united in marriage to Bernice Kathryn Williams at York on May 23, 1928. Bernice was born January 2, 1908 at Almena, Kan., to Thomas James and Kathryn Rebecka (Malsbury) Williams. She graduated from Beaver City, NE High School in 1926. Bernice, a homemaker, was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and had been a member of the Legion Auxiliary and the DOES.
Survivors include their children, James T. (Annette) McCormick of Trinity, Texas; Kathryn Jane (Richard) Croker of Omaha; Fr. Thomas L. McCormick of Hermasillo, Sonora, Mexico; Donald E. (Marie) McCormick of Lexington; Barbara A. (Richard) McMahon of Omaha; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
They were preceded in death by their parents, all brothers and sisters, a grandchild and 3 great-grandchildren.
A vigil service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial at the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Church. Visitation will be held at the Metz Chapel until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and then following the vigil service at the church.

Doris Davis
York resident, 84
Doris L. Davis, 84, of York died Dec. 26, 2000, at York.
She was born Jan. 4, 1916, at Waco to Bert and Ella (Wilkinson) Warren. She was a 1933 graduate of Waco High School and attended York College. She taught in rural schools in York County.
On May 16, 1941, she was married to Forrest E. Davis at Waco and they farmed in York County. They had farmed near Bradshaw from 1956 until the time of Forrest's death in 1983. She moved to York in 1991.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women, the Hi-Neighbor Club, and many other community activities.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Diane and William E. Deahl, Jr., of Lincoln, John and Linda Davis of Hebron, and Mary and Mike Hagood of Riverview, Fla. Grandchildren include Dr. Jason Davis of Richmond, Va., Jennifer and Trent Abbott of Grand Island, Donnie and Aleeshia Hagood of Tampa, Fla., and Justin Hagood of Riverview, Fla. Also surviving is her great-grandson, Jayden Hagood.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Forrest, in 1983; and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Bradshaw United Methodist Church with the Rev. Seth L. Leypoldt and Dr. William Deahl officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Visitation will begin Wednesday evening at Metz Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday.

Lillie Haygarth
Oregon resident, 89
Lillie Mae Haygarth, 89, of Portland, Ore., died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Portland.
She was born Oct. 31, 1911, at Benedict to Benjamin and Mary (Bell) Taylor. She was a longtime Portland School District employee, having taught for over 50 years. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska. In 1950, she was married to Thomas V. Haygarth at Benedict. He died in 1987. She was a member of the Portland Teachers Association.
She is survived by one son, Thomas V. Haygarth Jr. of Portland and one granddaughter, Kellie Haygarth of Corona, Calif.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Benedict. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Elmer Collingham
York resident, 94
Elmer G. Collingham, 94, of York, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at York.
He was born Nov. 28, 1906, in York County to John F. and Anna Marian (Smith) Collingham and was a longtime employee of the York Post Office. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, was a World War II veteran and was also a member of the VFW Post in York.
He is survived by one brother, Jake Collingham of York, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 29, at the Metz Chapel in York, with the Rev. Ralph Ford officiating. Burial will be at the Plainfield Cemetery west of Bradshaw. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, Dec. 28.

Beulah Bredenkamp

Beulah Alice Bredenkamp, 93, of York, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in York.
She was born Oct. 26, 1907, at Lushton, the daughter of James Russell and Altha M. (Walters) Wright. She lived most of her life in Lushton and attended school and high school in Lushton.
She married Arthur J. Bredenkamp on March 19, 1925, in York.
She was baptized at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lushton and after her marriage joined Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Arthur died in July, 1985.
She is survived by her daughter, Margie Ahrens of York; her son, Russel (Pat) Bredenkamp of Waco; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law.
Due to construction at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Arthur Brinkmeyer officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 31, from 1-9 p.m., and on Monday from 1-9 p.m., at Metz Mortuary in York, which is in charge of the arrangements.
