Allen L. Merrill

Allen L. Merrill, 55, of Platte Center died Saturday July 13, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services are 10: 30 am Wednesday July 17, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9: 30 am until service time at the Methodist Church in Silver Creek. Interment will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #263 Honor Guard.

Allen L. Merrill was born November 27, 1946 in Genoa to Clifford & Grace (Dick) Merrill. Allen grew up in Silver Creek and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1965 and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Following high school he entered the US Army and served from 1966-1968. He returned to Silver Creek. He married Lois Wemhoff on December 2, 1972 in Humphrey and moved to Platte Center. He worked for Behlen Manufacturing, Saunders Archery, D & L, and Columbus Hydraulics. He also worked as a painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and gardening. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Silver Creek.

Louise A. Foltz

Louise A. Foltz, age 91, of Platte Center, Nebraska died Wednesday June 26, 2002 at Beverly Healthcare. Funeral services are 10: 00 am Saturday June 29, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center with the Rev. Rod Kneifl officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-5 pm at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus and will continue after 6 pm at the church in Platte Center. There will be a Vigil service at 7 pm Friday at the Church. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning from 9 am until service time at the church. Interment will be in Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery. Memorials are to the donor's choice.

Louise A. Foltz was born August 28, 1910 in Hanover, Kansas, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Ruhkamp) Goeckel. She married Henry Foltz on February 10, 1931 in Hanover, KS. They farmed near Washington, KS until 1940 when they moved to a farm near Humphrey, NE. In 1950 they moved to a farm near Platte Center. Louise was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality, mission sewing & quilting, and rosary crusade. She also served as a 4-H leader and a CCD teacher. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, and cards.

Mahlon Gene Fox

Mahlon Gene Fox, age 55, of Castle Rock, Colorado formerly of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday June 10, 2002 at his home in Castle Rock. Memorial Services are 2: 00 PM Thursday June 27, 2002 at McKown Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating.

Mahlon Gene Fox was born December 30, 1946 in Columbus, Nebraska to Lindsey and Mary (Beck) Fox. He received his G.E.D. Mahlon served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era from November 1966 - October 1968 stationed in Germany. Following his discharge he went to work for Union Pacific Railroad as a Track Inspector. He lived in Columbus before moving to Castle Rock, Colorado.

Michael James Cline

Michael James Cline, age 51, of Columbus died Tuesday; August 28, 2001 at his home. Funeral services are 10: 30 a.m. Friday; August 31, 2001at the McKown Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Main will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the McKown Funeral Home.

Michael James Cline was born January 8th, 1950 in Port Hueneme, California to Clayton & Bonnie (Cloud) Cline. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1968. He married Shirley Marquart on March 2, 1969. He lived in Columbus and served in the Army National Guard 143rd Infantry from 1970-1976. He was currently working at Sapp Brothers in Columbus. He formerly owned and operated Columbus Auction Company. He worked for 18 years at Henke Manufacturing and later at Greystone and at Bob & Toots in Columbus. He enjoyed antiques, auctions and car racing.

Kendra Ann Homann

Kendra Ann Homann, 8 week old infant daughter of Jim & Deana (Rast) Homann, died Friday August 17, 2001 at Childrens Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services are 2: 00 pm Monday at McKown Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Sanborn officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 12 noon until service time at McKown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Columbus Cemetery.

Kendra was born June 22, 2001 in Omaha.

Barbara A. Hirschbrunner

Barbara A. Hirschbrunner, age 73, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday December 27, 2001 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services 11: 00 a.m. Monday December 31, 2001 at McKown Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Paul L. Rowoldt officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation is from 3: 00 p.m. - 5: 00 p.m. Sunday and on Monday from 8: 00 a.m. until service time at McKown Funeral Home.

Barbara A. Hirschbrunner was born March 19, 1928 in Winnebago, Minnesota to Gerald and Mable (Dunlap) Benschoter. She attended Winnebago Public Schools. Barbara married LuVerne R. Carlson on December 2, 1946. She later married Charles L. Hirschbrunner. Barbara was employed at Dale Electronics for over 31 years until retiring. She was a member of the Dales Retirement Club.

Willard Lee Graham

Willard Lee Graham, age 72, of #22 E. Sandy Ridge Road, Duncan Lakes, rural Duncan, Nebraska died Friday December 28, 2001 at his home. Mr. Graham's body was cremated. Memorial Services are 10: 30 a.m. Saturday January 5, 2002 at Metz Mortuary Chapel in York, Nebraska with Reverend Gary Main officiating. Private family burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York, Nebraska. Family will receive friends on Friday from 4: 30 p.m. until 7: 00 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.

Willard Lee Graham was born September 30, 1929 at home in York, Nebraska to Marion Wm. and Clara E. (Thelander) Graham. He attended York City Schools and graduated from York High School in 1947. On June 30, 1950 he was united in marriage to Jane D. Wendell at her home in York, Ne. This union was blessed with a daughter Shelley S. and a son Mark A. Graham. He had worked for the Burlington Railroad. He was in the army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 - 1953. Upon his return from the service he became a printer with the T. C. Lord Co., Gillen Inc. and North Printing Co. in York. On June 1, 1970 he joined the printing department of Nebraska Public Power District office at Columbus, Ne. He later became the printing foreman until his retirement in 1987. He and his wife Jane then moved to Duncan Lakes near Duncan, Ne. to spend their retirement years. He was a member of the York Legion Bolton Post #19, the United Methodist Church in Columbus and has been an active member of the Duncan lake Community Association. His hobby of carpentry and helping friends with their projects brought him great joy.

Vera R. Brand

Vera R. Brand, age 72, of Silver Creek, Nebraska died Wednesday December 5, 2001 at Lincoln LGH West in Lincoln, Nebraska. Funeral Services are 10: 30 a.m. Friday December 5, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with Reverend Bev Minor officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 4: 00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. Thursday at McKown Funeral Home in Silver Creek. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9: 30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Vera R. Brand was born April 25, 1929 in Gage County, NE to John & Mabel (Van Winkle) Andrews. She married Charles Brand on June 30, 1947 in Marysville, KS. She lived all of her married life in Silver Creek. She worked at Dale Electronics in Columbus for 17 years before owning and operating Vera's Cafe in Silver Creek until 1994 when she sold the business due to illness. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, the United Methodist Women, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by:
