Graveside services and burial will be Friday, February 1, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska with Pastor Neil Vik officiating.
Margrette Jenny McCune was born
December 3, 1905 in Clay County, Nebraska to John Jacob & Meta Antkea (Post) Gembler. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, Nebraska. She married Edmund Floyd McCune on February 16, 1929 and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1978. She was a homemaker and a housekeeper in several Hastings couples homes. She was a lifelong area resident and a member of All Saints Lutheran Church at the Good Samaritan Village.
Margrette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edmund, daughter, Catherine Ann McCune, 1 sister, Engelean Asmus and a brother, Harold Post.

Former Hastings resident, Alfred W. Buss, 92, of Louisville, Nebraska, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at Louisville Care Center.
Services will be Friday, February 1, 2002; 1:30 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Alfred Buss was born
July 14, 1909 in Ayr, Nebraska to John H. & Julia P. (Bank) Buss. He married Esther E. Lipsack on August 25, 1935 in Hastings, Nebraska. She preceded him in death in 1998. He worked for Eagle Plastics and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a past member of Lutheran Layman’s League. He moved to the Omaha area in 1997.
Alfred Buss was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Esther, 4 brothers,1 sister and a great granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 30, 2002; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Michael Houlihan, Father David F. Bourek and Father Milton Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Alice M. Payne was born
January 21, 1929 in Delia, Kansas to Thomas J. & Bernadette (McMullen) Grace. She graduated from Delia High School. On February 9, 1957, she married William M. Payne at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka, Kansas and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1996. She moved to Hastings, Nebraska from Topeka, Kansas in 1969. She was a teller at Norwest Bank and a paraprofessional at Hastings Senior High, both in Hastings, Nebraska. She was a past member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska and a present member of St. Peter's Church, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Former Hastings resident, Geneva T. Brinegar, 83, of Haven Home of Kenesaw, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at Haven Home.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 25, 2002; 2:00 P. M. at Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska, with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating.
Geneva T. Brinegar was born
November 9, 1918 in Howard County, Nebraska to George & Ethel (Chadwick) Tatlow. She graduated from Cotesfield High School, Cotesfield, Nebraska and from Mary Lanning School of Nursing. She worked for Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings Regional Center and Hospitals in Washington and Oregon. In 1952, she left Oregon and returned to Hastings, Nebraska and worked at Hastings Regional Center until her retirement. On August 12, 1955, she married Edouard Willmore Brinegar.
Geneva T. Brinegar was preceded in death by her parents.

Former Hastings resident Ed W. Brinegar, 85, of Haven Home of Kenesaw, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Haven Home.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 25, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating.
Ed W. Brinegar was born
January 16, 1917 in Belvidere, Nebraska to Alfred I. & Nellie (Willmore) Brinegar. He graduated from high school in St. Joseph, Missouri. He served from 1942 to 1946 in the United States Marines during WWII in the Pacific Theater. On August 12, 1955, he married Geneva (Tatlow) Mattley and she preceded him in death on January 22, 2002. He worked at the Hastings Regional Center and Roger’s Inc. He was a member of the American Legion and D.A.V.
Ed. W. Brinegar was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Geneva T. Brinegar, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

No viewing or visitation, Mr. Brinegar was cremated.
Willard Charles Anderson
Willard Charles Anderson, 95, of Perkins Pavilion died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Friday, January 25, 2002; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Willard C. Anderson was born
February 21, 1906 in Oakland, Nebraska to Charles & Nellie (Nelson) Anderson. He graduated from Oakland High School and from Grand Island College, Grand Island, Nebraska. On May 19, 1930, he married Dorothy Shouse in Grand Island, Nebraska. He did graduate work at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Hastings, and Kearney State College. They moved from Brock, Nebraska to Hastings in 1942. He taught math at Hastings High School, retiring in 1971. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Hastings Area Retired Teachers Association.
Willard C. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and 1 son-in-law.

Lois B. Buss, 73, of 4290 S. Adams Central Ave., Hastings, Nebraska, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Perkins Pavilion, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, January 25, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard A. Kothe officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska.
Lois B. Buss was born
January 18, 1929 on a farm near Harvard, Nebraska to Reuben & Ruby (Troedson) Erickson. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Saron Evangelical Lutheran Church, Saronville, Nebraska in 1943. She attended grade school at District 32 in Clay County, Nebraska. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1946 and attended business college in Lincoln, Nebraska. She worked several years as a legal secretary. On March 1, 1953, she married Melvin Buss in Hastings. She lived on a farm south of Hastings, where she was a homemaker and was actively involved in the farming operation. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Luther Anns.

Jeremy Joe Sorensen, 23, of Minden, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 10, 2002 at the Boisen Farms Shop, southwest of Minden, Nebraska as a result of a farm machine accident.
Rosary will be Monday, January 14, 2002; 7:00 P.M. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January, 15, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Thomas Au officiating. Jeremy Joe Sorensen was born
June 22, 1978 in Hastings, Nebraska to Randy & Becky (Soucie) Sorensen. He lived in Bladen, Nebraska and attended grade school there. He graduated from Silver Lake High School, Roseland, Nebraska in 1996.During high school, he was active in football, basketball, golf, FBLA, band and was a member of 4-B 4-H Club of Bladen, Nebraska. He graduated from Southeast Community College, Beatrice, Nebraska in1999 with a degree in Ag-Business. He was a member of the Southeast Community College Ag Club. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Minden, Nebraska and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart/Assumption Council #10155 and Plains Irrigation Basketball Team. On September 8, 2001, he married Corey A. Wratten at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska and they moved to Minden, Nebraska. He worked for Boisen Farms, Minden, Nebraska.

Marvin H. Oxley was born
January 5, 1918 in Clay Center, Nebraska to Winfred Charles & Hattie (Campbell) Oxley. He was raised by Jesse & Jenny (Gunderson) Burt of Juniata, Nebraska after the death of his mother in 1918. He attended Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Nebraska. On September 30, 1940, he married Lucille Kathman of Lawrence, Nebraska at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during WWII from November 7, 1942 until September 9, 1945 and received the Purple Heart. He worked for Western Land Roller until he retired in 1977, due to his health. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the V.F.W, both in Hastings, Nebraska.
Marvin Oxley was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, foster parents, 1 son, Eugene Edward Oxley, 1 brother and 1 sister
