Esther L. "Bullock" Ogg
05/08/1916 - 11/10/2004

Esther L. “Bullock” Ogg, 88, of Scottsbluff died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Mitchell Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2004 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Marshall Smith officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.

Esther was born May 8, 1916 in Gering Valley to John and Ella Mae (Marquis) Steele. She attended rural schools and graduated from Hope School. She married Chester Bullock May 28, 1933. They farmed in and around the Lake Minatare area for many years. They moved into Scottsbluff where they lived until Chester preceded her in death. Esther married Alfred Ogg. They moved to Lexington where she lived until 1982 when she returned to the Scottsbluff-Gering area.

She was a member of the WestWay Christian Church in Scottsbluff.

Esther is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Bonnie & Lloyd Pierce of Scottsbluff, Shirley and Keith Kephart of Commerce City, CO, Rennie and Raul Esquire of Kingman, AZ, Laura Smith and George Strauss of Scottsbluff and Tammy and Dennis Price of Gering, NE; brother: Mike (Inez) Steele, Morrill, NE; Grandchildren: Jamie (Neal) Person, Columbus, NE, Tim Pierce, Lincoln, NE, Mont (Dolly) Pierce, Tallamadge, OH, Jewel (Don) Schmaltz, Rio Rancho, NM, Jo Pierce & Larry Mullock, Yoder, WY, Terry Pierce, Scottsbluff, NE, Tammy Miller, Gering, NE; Christine Jurgens, Minnesota, Knicoli Kephart, Minnesota, Richelle Kephart, Denver, CO, Scott Stowell, Phoenix, AZ, Lonnie Stowell, Las Vegas, NV, Rena Smith, Mesa, AZ, Kimberly Duwyenie, Peach Springs, AZ, Travis Stowell, Phoenix, AZ, Daneen and Tom Nelson, Lexington, NE, Carrie and Jared Thompson, Bella Vista, ARK, Gary & Amy Smith, Gering, NE, Shirley Jurgens, Terrytown, NE and granddaughter & special companion Sheryl & Eldon Kramer, Gering; numerous Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren and Great Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, 9 brothers and sisters, and 4 grandchildren: Mike Jurgens, John Epton, Martin Pierce and Crystal Shriver Nelson.

Edward Gene Roemmich
06/24/1935 - 11/12/2004

Edward Gene Roemmich, 69, of Scottsbluff, passed away Friday November 12, 2004 at his home with his wife Char and eldest son by his side. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 15, 2004 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Dr. Charles L. Bonds officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. .
Ed was born June 24, 1935 in Ong, NE to Herman A. and Matilda M. (Becker) Roemmich. On June 3, 1956 Ed was united in marriage to Anna Louise Hinrichs and to them four children were born. He then moved to Scottsbluff in 1981 where he married Shirley Bennett who later passed away. On December 22, 1997, Ed was united in marriage to Charlene Shipman.
Ed lived his life to the fullest by working hard at various hard labor jobs. He was one who liked to stay busy, never to sit idle. He loved to take care of his home and yard, cut firewood, and work at the local Safeway Store where he had many friends. Many will remember Ed as a kind, giving and loving person who touched everyone he met in some way, as a result he will leave his family, friends and neighbors with a lot of fond memories.
He is survived by his wife: Char, mother: Matilda A. Roemmich of Hastings, NE; Sisters: El Dora Brumlow, Tucson, AZ, Shirley Hoover and husband Frank of Hastings, NE, and Barbara Knutson of Chandler, AZ; Children: Steve and Vickie Roemmich of Geneva, NE, Stan and Helen Roemmich of Kearney, NE, Brenda and Mark Walker of Ogallala, NE and Jeanna and Mike Kuhns of Geneva, NE; Stepson: Bob Bennett of Morrill, NE, seven grandchildren, 1 step grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Herman; brother: Gerald Roemmich and his wife Shirley Bennett

Virginia Lee Thormahlen
03/14/1931 - 11/13/2004

Virginia Lee Thormahlen, 73, of Scottsbluff, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Mitchell Care Center in Mitchell, NE. Services will be held Wednesday, November 17 at 10:00 am at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff, Tuesday from 9 til 8.
Virginia was born on March 14, 1931 to Sam and Kathryn (Schneider) Kramer in Mitchell, NE. She received her education and graduated high school from Huntley, Wyoming. She attended 2 years of college in Torrington, and 2 years in Laramie, WY where she graduated with honors. She taught school for six years in Powell, WY, and then married Ted Thormahlen on August 18, 1957 in Lyman, NE; they made their home in Mitchell, NE where she taught school for two years, and finally they settled in Scottsbluff, where she taught school for 25 years. She was a member of the Ki-Omega sorority, and she loved to cook, plant her roses, and her garden.

She is survived by her husband Ted Thormahlen, and her mother Kathryn Kramer

Her father Sam Kramer; two children, Kathryn Ellen, and Gail Marie; her grandparents, and many uncles and aunts precede her in death.

Floyd G. Hein
01/25/1932 - 11/15/2004
Floyd G. Hein, 72, of Scottsbluff passed away early Monday, November 15, 2004 at his home surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 A.M. Saturday November 20, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Park with military funeral honors. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastors Doug Jones and Amos Harris officiating.
Floyd was born January 25, 2932 in Bayard, NE to George and Mollie (Leever) Hein. He was a graduate of Bayard High School, class of 1951. Floyd married Ruth Miller on March 23, 1952 and shortly thereafter entered the US Air Force where he spent time in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alaska. After the Air Force, Floyd and Ruth settled back in Scottsbluff where Floyd worked for Swifts Meat Packing Co. for 28 years; then for the City of Scottsbluff’s Water Department for 16 years.
Floyd was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a life-long member of Zion Evangelical Church where he held various offices. During his 19 month battle with cancer, Floyd always had an upbeat attitude and was an inspiration to all he encountered.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth; children: Steve and Debra Hein and grandchildren Allison and Bailey all of Sandpoint, ID, Susan and Brad Eschweiler of Littleton, CO and Rollie and Kimberly Hein of Sheridan WY; brother and sister-in-law: Marvin Ben and Lorrine Hein of Scottsbluff; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ken and Connie Price of Topeka, KS and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mollie Hein and brother Raymond.

Friends may call between 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2004.

Sam Frank Phillips
06/14/1971 - 11/17/2004

Samuel (Sam) Frank Phillips, 33, of Gering, entered into rest Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at his home from natural causes. Services will be held 10:00am, Monday, November 22 at the Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Doug Jones officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Friends may call Sunday, November 21st, from 1:00pm til 7:00pm at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel.

Sam was born June 12, 1971 in Scottsbluff, NE to Dick and Sharon (Porter) Phillips. He attended Gering Valley country school where he graduated from 8th grade, then graduated from Gering High School. During high school, he enjoyed playing football. He was a member of 4-H for 10 years, and the High School Rodeo Assn. He qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals in 1989. He also attended college at Chadron State College.

Sam married Stacy Broadbent on October 5, 1991. From this union came two beautiful children; Samantha Nicole and Zachery Thomas Phillips. Sam was a proud owner and operator of several long haul semi-trucks. In 1989, he became a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad, and at the time of his death he was working as an engineer.

His love was being with his children. He was proud of their accomplishments and was a great supporter. He always looked forward to family gatherings and greeted everyone with a sincere smile.

He is survived by his children, Samantha and Zachery Phillips; mother, Sharon Phillips; brothers, Mike and Robin Phillips of Pierce, NE and Jimmy Joe Phillips of Helmville, MT; sister Shawna and Mike Winchell of Scottsbluff; nieces and nephews: Garret and Karissa Phillips, Bronwyn and Kamela Bloxham, Jordan Phillips, Shelby and Libby Winchell; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

His father Dick; sister Janelle Bloxham; aunt Betty Murray; grandparents Frank Phillips, Dean and Virginia Buechler, and Grant and Nellie Porter preceded Sam in death.

Edna Esther Neuharth
07/29/1922 - 11/22/2004

Edna Esther Neuharth, 82, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, November 22, 2004 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, November 24th at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rodney Long officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.
Edna was born July 29, 1922 in Minatare, Ne to Henry Hohnstein and Amelia Rietz. She married Phillip G. Neuharth on January 18, 1938 in Harrisburg, Ne and made their home in Minatare. She was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and a granddaughter.
A memorial has been established to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Marie Eckhardt
06/10/1914 - 11/23/2004

Marie Eckhardt, 90, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at her home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Gary Young officiating. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
Marie was born June 10, 1914 in Scottsbluff to Jacob and Marie (Yekel) Haun. She married Adolph W. Eckhardt May 7, 1933 in Scottsbluff. They moved to Denver, CO where Marie was a member of a dance band where she played accordion and piano. They returned to Scottsbluff where her husband owned and operated Eckhardt’s Shoe Service.
Marie graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1967, Nebraska Western School of Nursing in September of 1971 and received her LPN January 3, 1972.
She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church.
Marie is survived by, her children: Gary Steven Eckhardt of Eden Prairie, MN and Kathleen M. Dunder of Scottsbluff; son-in-law: Dwayne Weiss, of Scottsbluff; grandchildren: Shari Rosso, Amy Potter, Robert Dunder and Steven Dunder; great grandchildren: Brett Rosso, Cameron Rose, Emma Dunder, Jennifer Dunder and Mathew Potter; Sisters: Hannah Schmidt, Greeley, CO, Martha and Gene Sanders, Potter, NE, Esther and Don Bieber of Aurora, CO, and Bonnie and Floyd Ferguson, Casper, WY; brothers: Ruben and Shirley Haun of Burley, ID, Raymond and Lucille Haun of Gering, and Norman and Yvonne Haun of Boulder, CO.
She, was preceded in death by, her parents, husband Adolph, daughter Virginia Weiss, brother Victor Haun and an infant sister
Memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice.

Robert J. Marquez
01/11/1942 - 11/17/2004

Robert J. Marquez, 62 of Hayward, CA, who died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery with military honors.

Robert was born on January 11, 1942 at Chanute, Kansas to Threnee and Frances (Hurtado) Marquez and received his early education at the Gering and Scottsbluff schools.He attended St. Johns Seminary in Elkhorn, Nebraska. He entered the U.S. Army in 1964 and was honorably discharge in 1966. He worked for San Mateo County library system for 31 years. The first six years in Belmont Central Library, eleven years in East Palo Alto Library, the last fifteen years at Atherton Library as a Senior Library Assistant. He retired in February and wanted to pursue painting especially watercolor.

He is survived by his father Threnee; brothers and sisters Samuel (Esther) of Arvada, CO, Kathy (Don) Dickson of Aurora, CO, Theresa (Michael) Mast of Kearney, Michael of Cheyenne, WY; aunts Lenore Marquez, Tillie Cabral and Louise Marquez all of Scottsbluff and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother Frances, brothers Tommy Jo and Michael Lawrence.
