Edward D. Leonhard
Edward Leonhard, 96 of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Edgewood Vista in Columbus.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment is in Columbus Cemetery with military honors by The American Legion Honor Guard, Hartman Post 84. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Thursday from 9:00 until service time at the church.
Edward Leonhard was born
June 6, 1908 in rural Polk County , Nebraska to David and Martha (Friedrich) Leonhard. He attended rural Polk County School before the family moved to York , Nebraska after Martha passed away. Edward graduated from York High School and then attended Grand Island Business School in Grand Island , Nebraska . He entered the US Army on August 27, 1943 and was honorably discharged on November 14, 1945. During this time, Edward saw combat duty from the first days of the D-Day invasion until VE Day. He served in the 788th Engineer Petroleum Dist. Company. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Following the war, he returned to Columbus and opened Leonhard’s Conoco which he ran for 45 years. He married Leona (Roth) Abarr on May 7, 1949 in Glenview , Illinois . He and Leona were also the owners of Columbus Bowl for over 30 year’s. Ed sold Leonhard’s Conoco to a long time trusted friend and employee, Mike Fleming.
Ed was a dedicated family man, a trusted and well-respected businessman and a loyal Husker fan. A quiet and mild-mannered gentleman, he always had a ready smile and went out of his way to help others. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church , a member of the VFW, and a 60 year member of the American Legion.

Clarence (C.W.) Leimser
Clarence Leimser, 84 of Columbus, Nebraska died Friday, August 13, 2004 at his home in Columbus.
The funeral service will be Monday, August 16, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment is in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 15 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, and from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church, with a 10:15 AM family prayer service.
Clarence was born
June 25, 1920 in Butler County, Nebraska to Frank and Lucy (Gans) Leimser. He received his education at rural Polk County Schools. On June 21, 1944 he married Viola Lueke in rural Columbus. They farmed and raised livestock in Polk County for many years.
Clarence served on the District 16 school board for several years and was on the redistricting board. Clarence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council and was an usher for 40 years. He was also a member of the Eagles. They moved to Columbus in 1982. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.

George H. Anderson
George H. Anderson, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Private family graveside services will be held at the New Hope Cemetery, rural Monroe, Nebraska.
George H. Anderson was born
February 20, 1914 in rural Monroe, Nebraska to Martin and Anna (Paulson) Anderson. He attended District 81 School. During the depression, George went to work at a ranch in Dillon, Montana. While living in Montana, George met Ruth Bourn and the two of them were married on June 24, 1942 in Butte, Montana. George later went to work for the railroad in Montana before returning to Nebraska to help out on the family farm. After three years, George and Ruth started farming on their own. They later moved to Platte Center, Nebraska and George went to work for HABCO. After a number of years with HABCO, George went to work for Soil Movers where he was a welder.

Hugo W. Inselman, 88, of Leigh, Nebraska, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Beverly Healthcare in Columbus, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be Monday, January 3, 2005, 10:00 A.M. at the Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus with Rev. John E. Nelson Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M.
Hugo W. Inselman was born
January 31, 1916 in rural Creston, Nebraska to Herman & Minnie (Hellbusch) Inselman. Hugo attended St. John's Lutheran School in rural Platte County. On September 1, 1940, Hugo married Edna Otte at Christ Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Creston and Leigh areas all their lives. Hugo was a baseball pitcher for the St. John's baseball team and spent many years coaching baseball and softball in Leigh. Hugo also enjoyed pitching horseshoes. He was a former trustee at Christ Lutheran Church and formerly belonged to the Walther League at St. John's Church.

Joseph Kudera, 88, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
The funeral service will be on Friday, December 24, 10:30 A.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Earl Underwood officiating. Interment will be in the Clarkson National Cemetery in Clarkson, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. and on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
Joseph J. Kudera was born
March 19, 1916 on a farm south of Clarkson, Nebraska to Jerry & Blanche (Teply) Kudera. He attended country school and graduated from Langley High School in rural Colfax County. On July 26, 1942, Joseph married Roma Zastera in Clarkson. They lived on the farm near Clarkson until 1969 when they moved to Columbus. Joseph continued to care for his cattle and the farm. Joseph enjoyed playing the accordion and listening to polka music.

Jean Loshbaugh, 92 of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the Genoa Community Hospital in Genoa, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be on Monday, December 6, 10:30 A.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. all at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Federated Church or the Genoa Medical Facilities.
Jean Loshbaugh was born
March 3, 1912 in Madison, Nebraska to Charles E. & Myra (Hume) Pearse. Jean grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison High School in 1929. Jean attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and graduated in 1933 with a BA from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. On June 8, 1939, Jean married C.A. "Scottie" Loshbaugh in Columbus, Nebraska. Jean worked at Schwesers in Columbus and then they owned and operated the X-L Motel in Columbus. Jean was a member of the Federated Church and was active in the Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the Order of St. Andrew, the PEO Chapter CH, a Girl Scout leader, and was the past president of the Emerson PTA. Jean volunteered her time at the Columbus Food Pantry and the Clothes Closet.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 10:30 AM with Rev. Roland A. Jank officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Monday at 10:15 AM at the church.
Sevilla Flesner was born
February 13, 1903 in rural Battle Creek, Nebraska to Adolph and Elizabeth (Tomhagen) Bredehoft. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended a Lutheran grade school and Battle Creek High School. Sevilla married Henry John Flesner on March 22, 1922 at the Green Garden Church, located near Madison, Nebraska. They lived on a farm northeast of Battle Creek until 1933, when they moved to Columbus. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Sevilla was a charter member of the LWML.

Private graveside services were held at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, September 06, 2003 at 11:00 AM.
Jacqueline Kay Louden was born
November 13, 1935 in Genoa, Nebraska to Benjamin & Gerarda (De Baets) Louden. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1953. She moved to California in 1960 and worked as a private secretary for the same family for 43 years.
