Harry Stutzman

BEEMER — The funeral for Harry Stutzman, 78, of Beemer will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Beemer Mennonite Church in Beemer.

He died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Stutzman was born icon Feb. 10, 1922, in Strang. He attended Beemer Public, and Broken Bow Public Schools.

He served 1943-1946 in the United States Army during World War II. He married Millie Bellar April 8, 1948, in Broken Bow. They moved in 1951 to Beemer.

Stutzman worked for 16 years as a dairy farmer, then 15 years for Steffensmeier Trucking in West Point, and Wisner Public Scale.

He was a member of Beemer Mennonite Church and Adrian Kaup Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4912 of West Point.

Survivors include: his wife; a son, Jim (and wife, Christine) Stutzman of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Janet (Mrs. Marty) Hinkel of West Point and Rita (Mrs. Brian) Lierman of Beemer; two brothers, Ed Stutzman of Beemer and Louis Stutzman of Las Vegas; two sisters, Francis (Mrs. Evelyn) Bellar of Wisner and Anna Mae (Mrs. James) Oswald of West Point; seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.

The Rev. Jarvis Hochstedler will officiate Monday’s service. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Kuzelka Funeral Home in Beemer, and 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Burial will be in Beemer Cemetery.

Joan Schneider

BEEMER — A memorial service for Joan Schneider, 67, of Beemer will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer.

She died Thursday, June 15, 2000, in her home.

Joan LaVonne was born icon November 11, 1932, in St. Paul. Her family moved to McCook where she attended McCook Public Schools and graduated in 1950. She married Richard Schneider June 14, 1951, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook. They lived in McCook until 1986, when they moved to Colorado, and later to Beemer in 1994.

She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer and its alter society.

Survivors include: her husband; four daughters, Mari (Mrs. Ron) Sterr of Holdrege, Cheri (Mrs. Kevin) Sevier of Denver, Patti (Mrs. Paul) Ludwick of Loveland, Colo., and Lori (Mrs. Doug) Roth of Geneva; a son, Jerry (and wife, Donna) Schneider of Beemer; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

The Rev. Mark Merkel will officiate Monday’s ceremony. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the church with an 7:30 p.m. vigil service. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Beemer.

Kuzelka Funeral Home in Beemer is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Hasek

The funeral for Frank V. Hasek, 73, of Fremont will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

Hasek was born icon September 8, 1926, in Elyria. He grew up on a farm in the Ord area and attended Ord rural schools. Following the death of his father, he took over the family farm. He served in the United States Army with occupational forces in Japan during World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupational Medal. He married Ramona Sevenker July 24, 1950 in Ord. They moved to Fremont in 1951. He worked at Hydro Conduit for 33 years as a superintendent.

He was a member of Fremont Eagles Aerie 200, Fremont Anglers, Western Fraternal Life Association 14, 4-H leader, and volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program.

Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Chris (Mrs. Brad) Johannesen of Fremont; a son, Frank (and wife, Sue) Hasek of Fremont; a sister, Jean Pelan of Omaha; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, two sisters and four brothers.

The Rev. Michael Thomas will officiate Tuesday’s service. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, with family receiving friends 6:30-8 p.m. Graveside military services will be provided by Fremont Honor Guard (American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854). Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.

Memorials have bee established to Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation, FAMC Cancer Center and The Salvation Army.

Edna Carlson

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Edna Carlson, 92, of Lawrence, Kan., died Monday, May 29, 2000, in her home.

Edna Schneider was born icon April 25, 1908, in Willow City, N.D. She was a 1923 graduate of Pilger High School in Pilger. She married Maurice Carlson August 9, 1935. He died March 22, 2000.

Survivors include: a daughter; four sons; two sisters, Esther Carson of Cherokee, Iowa, and Helen Ollenburg of Fremont; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Warren-McElwain Mortuary of Lawrence was in charge of arrangments.

Roland Chard

WATERLOO -- Roland Keith Chard, 73, of Waterloo died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

He was born icon April 11, 1929, in Oakland. He attended schools in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. His family moved to the Waterloo area in 1946. He graduated from Valley High School in 1948. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He married Sharron Pape on Aug. 28, 1969, in Nebraska City. He worked as an electrical lineman and occasionally as a heavy equipment operator.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union No. 1525, the Henry Doorly Zoo, the Air and Space Museum and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include: two sons, Matthew (and wife, Sherron) Chard of Columbus and Randy (and companion, Jennifer Rau) Chard of Omaha; a daughter, Robin (Mrs. Jason) Teel of Omaha; three brothers, Richard (and wife, Fran) Chard of Council Bluffs, Sherman (and wife, Diane) Chard and Byron Chard, all of Waterloo; two sisters, Rachel Chard (Mrs. Glen) Kahlandt and Ramona Chard Roy, all of Waterloo; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

The funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn. The Rev. Robert Smith will officiate. A vigil service is 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Millard with military honors provided by American Legion Post 374 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8334.

Florene Herink

OMAHA -- Florene A. Herink, 72, of Omaha died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

Florene Dohmen was born icon Jan. 4, 1930, in rural Humphrey. She grew up on a farm near Humphrey in Stanton County. She was a graduate of St. Bonaventure High School in Columbus. She previously worked at Mutual of Omaha. She married Robert V. "Bob" Herink June 8, 1950, in Leigh. She and her husband have lived in Omaha since 1950. She worked at the former Western Electric in Omaha. She and her husband operated First Omaha Realty and Herink Appraisal Service.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Omaha where she was active in the Legion of Mary & Stephens Ministry. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2503 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 1 Auxiliary, both of Omaha.

Survivors include: her husband; six sons, Allen (and wife, Deborah) Herink, Jay (and wife, Debra) Herink and Brian Herink, all of Omaha, Ross Herink of Denver, Kevin (and wife, Nancy) Herink of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Daniel (and wife, Elizabeth) Herink of Kingwood, Texas; six daughters, Carol (Mrs. Daniel) Mendlik of Denver, Gayle (Mrs. Thomas) Stenstrom of Marina, Calif., Debbie (Mrs. Mark) Kurmel, Judy (Mrs. Mark) Riggle, Amy (Mrs. Patrick) Bridgeford and Lisa (Mrs. Tom) Kaska, all of Omaha; a sister, Kathryn (Mrs. Clem) Foltz of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Gerst of Omaha and Mary Dohmen of Columbus; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

The memorial mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Omaha, 9025 Larimore Ave. The Revs. Michael Foltz and James Brown will officiate. A wake service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at St. James Catholic Church in Omaha. There is no visitation; she donated her body to Creighton University for medical study.

A memorial has been established to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

ARLINGTON - Charlie Parr, 52, of Arlington died today, Aug. 22, 2000, in his home.

WISNER - Leon E. Popken, 63, of Wisner died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

Edward Preitauer

Edward R. Preitauer, 83, of Gothenburg died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

DODGE - Edward J. Semerad, 83, of Dodge died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Parkview Home in Dodge.

John Vyhlidal

John W. Vyhlidal, 82, of Fremont died today, Aug. 22, 2000, at Thomas Fitzgerald Veterans Home in Omaha.

OAKLAND -- Ross S. Baker, 16, of Oakland died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Oakland.

VALLEY -- Glenn E. Behrendt, 85, of Valley died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Valhaven Nursing Home in Valley.

The funeral for Alma H. Carsten, 79, of Wisner will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner.

WAHOO -- Bernita (Barry) Hanes, 57, of Wahoo, formerly of Phillipsburg, Kan., died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in Wahoo after a prolonged illness.

Dorothy J. Jackson, 79, of Omaha, formerly of Lincoln and Fremont, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in Omaha.

Effie Myers

Effie A. Myers, 94, of Tyndall, S.D., died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center in Tyndall.

Blanche G. Bolden, 84, of Fremont died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
