Allen Jensen
Allen A. Jensen, 78, of Grand Island died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., Sunday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Jensen was born
on Feb. 9, 1922, in Cordova to August and Mary (DeCamp) Jensen. He grew up and was educated in Cordova. He graduated from Cordova High School in 1940. He helped with construction of the Fairmont Air Base.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps on Oct. 9, 1942, in Omaha, served during World War II in Guam and the Philippines and was discharged on Oct. 15, 1945, in San Diego.
He married Rae Walkama on May 10, 1945, in Jacksonville, Fla. They lived in Lincoln and moved to Grand Island in 1946. Mr. Jensen joined the Nebraska State Patrol in June 1946.
The couple lived for 11 years in Central City, where he was the safety education officer. In 1966, they returned to Grand Island, where Mr. Jensen coordinated the State Patrol SWAT team and the state pistol team.
He retired in 1980 after 34 years with the State Patrol. He then worked as a security officer at Fonner Park and volunteered at Stuhr Museum.
He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Vivian (Mrs. Patrick) Barry of Papillion; five sons, Allen of Geneva, David of Joshua Tree, Calif., Duane "Gus" of Grand Island, Mike of Lincoln and Mark of Hastings; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Lorraine (Mrs. Gordon) Darling, Marge (Mrs. Bud) Lundy, Betty (Mrs. Marion) Lewis and Deanna (Mrs. David) Reetz, all of York, Mary Ann (Mrs. Lloyd) Wright of Blytheville, Ark., Marilyn (Mrs. John) Lortz of Lincoln, Carol (Mrs. Ronald) Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Edith (Mrs. Thayne) Stewart; and five brothers, Gale of Lincoln, Donald of Norman, Okla., Roger and Joey, both of York, and Gary of Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and two brothers, James and Robert.
Albert Rauert
Albert G. Rauert, 85, of Lebensraum Retirement Home died Friday, April 14, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or to the donor's choice.
Mr. Rauert was born
on April 22, 1914, at Cairo to George and Minnie (Behring) Rauert. He lived and worked on his parents' farm. He later began working for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He married Elaine L. Wrage on Feb. 19, 1941, in Grand Island. He entered the U.S. Army in November 1941, served during World War II and was discharged in 1945.
He returned to work for Union Pacific in Oregon, Omaha and Hastings, where he also worked for Williams Exterminating Co. He spent many years working for Union Pacific out of Grand Island and retired after more than 30 years with the railroad. After his retirement, he worked as a railroad engineer at Stuhr Museum.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Platt-Duetsche, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 378, the American Legion and Stuhr Museum. He enjoyed playing cards with friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Janice "Jan" (Mrs. Wilbur) Brown of Littleton, Colo., and Deloris "Dee" (Mrs. Jim) Price of Grand Island; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Ida and Lillian; and one brother, Louis.
'Betty' Moore
GREELEY -- Elizabeth J. "Betty" Moore, 72, of Greeley died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Boone County Hospital in Albion.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Revs. Gerald Carlson and John Cook will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Sunday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

John Fisher
CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- John W. Fisher, 75, of Chula Vista, Calif., died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista.
The body was cremated. Services will be at a later date.
Mr. Fisher was born
on March 21, 1925, at Hayes Center to Lee and Ethel L. (Lakley) Fisher. He attended Hayes Center High School.
He served with the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet in the Pacific theater during World War II.
Mr. Fisher worked in equipment management for Roehr Aircraft in San Diego for 30 years.
He was very active as manager of the Chula Vista Veterans Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Ackerman of San Diego; two grandchildren; a sister, Donna Carey of Springfield, Mo.; and two brothers, LaVerne of Grand Island and LeRoy of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Ruth.
Alfred Husen
Alfred F. Husen, 79, of Grand Island died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Mr. Husen was cremated. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Wood River.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church with the family greeting friends following the rosary.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or the Blessed Sacrament Parish Center.

Mr. Husen was born
on March 12, 1921, in Grand Island to Henry J. and August (Marth) Husen. They lived in Grand Island. As a young boy, he moved with his parents to Alda, where he graduated from high school.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps near Burwell for two years. He moved to Chicago and worked at a steel manufacturing business for several years.
He joined the U.S. Navy on March 29, 1945, and served as a seaman second class until his discharge on July 15, 1946. After his discharge, he moved to a farm north of Alda.
He married Georgiann Bohnart on Aug. 12, 1947, in Wood River. He farmed in the Wood River area for more than 40 years. He retired in 1984 and moved to Grand Island in 1993.
Mr. Husen was active in the Hobby Center at Arizona Park, taking classes in silversmithing and woodworking. He also enjoyed camping, golfing and square dancing.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the American Legion and Platt-Duetsche. He was a past member of the Liederkranz.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Greg of Ponca City, Okla., Dr. Steven and Jon, both of Grand Island, and Henry of Alda; two daughters, Susanne (Mrs. Charles) Sorahan of Alda and Jan (Mrs. Roger) Husen-Stortenbecker of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren; and one brother, William of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Albee.
Alma Jenneman
Alma Jenneman, 88 of Grand Island, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Tiffany Square.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
'T.J.' Reed
Thomas "T.J." Reed, 34, of Grand Island died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 S. Locust St. The Rev. Leroy Buford will officiate. Cremation will follow services.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established with Mid-Nebraska Individual Services.
Mr. Reed was born
on Jan. 7, 1966, at Syracuse, N.Y., to Harry and Grace (Clark) Reed. He grew up in New York and Hastings. He graduated from Hastings Adams Central in 1987.
He did various contract work through Mid-Nebraska Individual Services.
He was a member of Special Olympics and Strong Americans. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Harry and Brenda Reed of Fairfield; a brother, Steve Reed of Kansas; two sisters, Sandy Cowell of California and Cindy Littlefield of Oklahoma; and four stepsisters, Stefanie, Christy and Misty Dedrick of Hastings and Jacee Wyman of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Kimberly Reed.
'Marge' Bendig
AURORA -- Margaret "Marge" Bendig, 69, of Aurora died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Aurora United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mrs. Bendig was born
on April 26, 1930, in Lilbourn, Mo., to Arvin and Martha (Driskill) Jefferson. She grew up in the Sikeston, Maulden and Poplar Bluff, Mo., area. She graduated from high school in 1948.
She married Albert George Bendig on Jan. 9, 1964. They operated Al and Marge's Tavern for 11 years in Arlington. They also managed restaurants in Columbus and Ashland and managed country clubs in Wahoo and Aurora. They owned and operated Marge's Cafe in Aurora for five years. She continued to work in area cafes the rest of her life.
She was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and past president of Eagles Auxiliary 200 in Fremont.
Survivors include three sons, Paul of Duluth, Ga., Larry of Houston and Harry Layne of Wahoo; a daughter, Sharon (Mrs. James) Ferguson of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; her mother, Martha Driskill of Sikeston, Mo.; and two sisters, Doris Chaney of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jean Smith of Sikeston, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Daryl and Richard; and her father.
Matt Homan
COLUMBUS -- Matt W. Homan, 95, of Columbus, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at St. Joseph's Villa at David City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Joseph A. Miksch will officiate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery at Columbus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with a 7 p.m. vigil. Further visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to donor's choice.
Mr. Homan was born
Sept. 6, 1904 at Cedar Rapids to John and Mary (Puetz) Homan. He graduated from St. Anthony's School in Cedar Rapids.
He married Marcella K. Goering on Aug. 25, 1930 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
The couple lived and farmed at Cedar Rapids until retiring and moving to Columbus in 1970. They were married 67 years before her death in 1998. In 1998 the farm was designated a Century Farm of Nebraska.
He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, several square dance clubs and the Eagles Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jo Higginbotham of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sons, Bill of Columbus and Dick of Grand Island; three sisters, Theresa Goering, Mary (Mrs. Art) Primrose and Helen (Mrs. Ambrose) Wlaschin, all of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, John Paul, one brother, John and one great-granddaughter.
