Eugene DeMaranville
AURORA -- Eugene M. DeMaranville, 78, of Aurora, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Higby Mortuary Chapel. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Mid-Nebraska Individual Services of Grand Island or to the family.
Mr. DeMaranville was born
June 30, 1921, in Aurora to Roy and Isabelle (Hall) DeMaranville. He graduated from Aurora High School.
He married Arlene Ross on April 20, 1945, in Stockham. They lived in Aurora their entire married life.
He worked for 15 years at Shaneyfelt Produce, 26 years as co-owner of the local Brandeis store, 18 years as supervisor of building and grounds at Aurora High School and 35 years as a locksmith.
He enjoyed his hobbies of locksmithing, traveling, dancing and his rose garden. He was a member of the Saddle Club, Eagles and Platt Duetsche.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dave of Grand Island, Rod of Stockton, Ill., and Dick of Battleground, Wash.; one daughter, Barb (Mrs. Jerry) Bohnart of Grand Island; one sister, Dorothy Beyer of Grand Island; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Ed.
Mark Rutten
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Mark J. Rutten, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Rosaries will be recited at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Rutten was born
Sept. 7, 1932, in Boone County to Martin and Clara (Schmitz) Rutten. He attended rural schools and Cedar Rapids parochial schools.
He served in the U.S. Army from March to September 1953.
He married Rosemary Foland. They were married for 42 years. They lived in Albion and later moved to Cedar Rapids. He worked for the Boone County Road Department until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and the Dan Cox American Legion Post No. 44 of Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother; two sons, Mark and Brian, both of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Yvonne Evans of Wolbach and Renee Rutten of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; five sisters, Angela Koziel of Omaha, Rita (Mrs. Bob) Watts, Georgia Ann (Mrs. Orville) Robinson and Veronica (Mrs. Harold) Pfeifer, all of Cedar Rapids, and Marlene (Mrs. Bill) Wilson of Merriville, Ind.; three brothers, Maurice of Grand Island, Charles "Chic" of Cedar Rapids, and Ray of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1991.
Kenneth Sample
WOOD RIVER -- Kenneth M. Sample, 87, of the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at the home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Blue Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Sample was born
April 20, 1912, in Hastings to Charles and Jesse (Porter) Sample. He attended elementary school at the Sheldon Academy. He went to Hastings High School.
He married Helen Bachman in 1932. They lived in Juniata. They both worked at the Navy Ammunition Depot in Hastings.
He later worked for the Diamond T. Truck Co. in Hastings. The family moved to Edgar and he drove a truck. Later they moved to Wood River and he worked for Fairbanks Farm Implement. His last position of employment was with the Grand Island Airport Authority as a mechanic. He moved to the Good Samaritan Center several months ago.
He was a member of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth of Pueblo, Colo., Donald of Great Bend, Kan., and Roger of Wichita, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy Jeager of Clay Center and Erma Turner of Red Bluff, Calif.; and one brother, James of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1972; one daughter, Sharon; one son, Ronald; one sister, Ruby; and two grandsons.
Mildred Schuller
RAVENNA -- Mildred Schuller, 75, of Ravenna, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schuller was born
June 16, 1924, to Emil and Antonia (Havlik) Skala in Ravenna. She went to school in Buffalo County and graduated from Ravenna High School. She and her sister played in the All-Girl Orchestra at many Nebraska towns.
She married Stanley Schuller on Oct. 26, 1952. They lived on a farm south of Ravenna until 1978 when they moved to Ravenna. She worked at the Big Onion Cafe, Four Corners Cafe, Scotties, and Safeway. They owned and operated the Dairy Kreme in Ravenna for two years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes, Altar Society, and Lioness.
Survivors include one son, Gary of Ravenna; one daughter, Alana (Mrs. Pete) Peterson of Phillips; a special friend, Goldie Johnson of Ravenna; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Larry; and one sister, Clara.
Aileen Timmerman
BURWELL -- Aileen Marie Timmerman, 81, of Burwell, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Burwell Baptist Church. The Rev. David Koeningsberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Community Memorial Health Center, the Burwell Baptist Church or the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
Robert Lichty
Robert L. Lichty, 51, of Grand Island died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, where he was being treated for cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mr. Lichty was born
July 30, 1948, to Robert and Ruth (Thimm) Lichty in Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1966. He then attended the Central Nebraska Vocational Technical School in Hastings. He served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1994 and was stationed in Korea, Panama, Germany and various locations in the United States.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge when living in Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Song Ye Lichty of Grand Island; his mother, Ruth Lichty of Grand Island; and a brother, Donald Lichty of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lichty.
Dale McMillan
Dale Neil McMillan, 82, of Grand Island died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Del Roper will officiate. Burial will be at the Chapman Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to either Trinity United Methodist Church or the Chapman Fire and Rescue.
Mr. McMillan was born
April 16, 1917, at Central City to Hubert Neil and Mary L. (Reeves) McMillan. He attended District 39 school, and graduated from Central City High School in 1935. He farmed with his father and worked as an electrician.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941. He served in the China-Burma-India Theatre in 1944, until his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1946, as captain.
He married Norma Fishburn on April 5, 1942, in Chapman.
They lived in Columbus, where he was employed by Cornhusker Public Power District for two years. In 1948, they moved to a farm southwest of Central City where they farmed and raised livestock until moving to Grand Island in 1980. Mr. McMillan was also a real estate broker.
He was a 50-year member, and a worshipful master, of the Masonic Friendship Lodge 239 of Chapman. He received the Masonic Achievement Medallion from the Grand Island Lodge of Nebraska in January 2000.
He was a also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and served n school boards for 28 years. He was a member of the Laura Mae Chapter of the Eastern Star in Chapman, Central City American Legion Post No. 6, and a past member of the Farmers Home Administration Board and the Chapman COOP Elevator Board, serving as president.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; two daughters, Nancy Fisher and Mary (Mrs. Tom) Kohl, both of Grand Island; a son, Russ of Grand Island; five grandchildren; and a sister, Jean (Mrs. Walter) Nielsen of Polk.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Eriksen.
Lorrel Branting
CLARKS -- Lorrel A. Branting, 86, of Clarks died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Services are pending. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Veva McNeff
FULLERTON -- Veva E. McNeff, 90, of Fullerton died Friday, March 24, 2000, at her home.
Services are pending with the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mary Norman
ORD -- Mary C. Norman, 89, of Ord died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ord United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Ord United Methodist Church or the Valley County Hospital Foundation.
Mrs. Norman was born
Dec. 9, 1910, at Ashton to John and Agnes (Czaplewski) Pelanowski. She attended a rural school near Loup City and later the St. Paul Business College.
She married Sylvester (Jake) Kwiatkowski on Sept. 29, 1929. They moved to Ord in 1947, where Mrs. Norman began her training as a practical nurse at the Ord hospital.
She married Dale Norman on Aug. 31, 1952. She continued her work at the hospital until 1953, when she went to work at the Ord Clinic. From 1966 to 1985, Mrs. Norman worked for Dr. Zlomke and then retired. Mr. Norman died in 1981.
She was a volunteer at the Valley County Hospital and the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the Ord United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Leggett of Ord; a son, Fred Kwiatkowski of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nell Carroll of O'Neill and Florence Janda of Lincoln; and a brother, Ray Pelanowski of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale; a daughter, Bonnie; and a brother Ed Pelanowski.
