Roy Seery, 85
(Oct. 11) Roy Serry, 85, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1913 in Cario to Fred and Edna (Hodgson) Serry.
His survivors include: his wife, Ruby Serry of Hay Springs; daughters, Wilma Dvorak of Chadron and Janet Quinn of Hay Springs; sister, Pearl Westover of Burwell; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron with the Rev. Gene Vanhuss officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m (Central Time) in Chambers.
A memorial has been established for the Hay Springs Rescue Unit.
Donations may be sent to the Security First Bank of Hay Springs.

Myron (Mack) L. Malmberg, 68
(Nov. 9) Myron (Mack) L. Malmberg, 68, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at the Chadron Community Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1931 in Pender to Gustav and Lillie (Bloom) Malmberg.
He was a past member of the Roping Club. His survivors include his son and fiancée, Eric Malmberg and Jennifer Kelly of Gordon; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Loren Wilson of Hay Springs and Lisa and Marlon Reed of Hyannis; brothers, Ray of Oregon and Charley of Pender; sisters, June Larson of Stromsberg and Genevieve Malmberg; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant Point Church south of Gordon with two pastors officiating. Burial will be at the Mt, Hope Cemetery south of Gordon.
A memorial has been established for the Tri State Old Times Club. Donations may be sent to the Security First Bank of Hay Springs.

Roger D. Reeves, 83
(Nov. 9) Roger D. Reeves, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at the Gordon Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1916 near Osmond (Pierce County) to Robert A. and Myrtle (Rodgers) Reeves.
He married Verta L. Newman on March 20, 1937 at Hot Springs, S.D. Together, with the help of her sister; they operated the Gordon Ice House for several years.
He enlisted in the Navy during World War II, then returned to Gordon where he later became a partner in the building and operation of the Hacienda Motel and restaurant.
He was a member of the Gordon Volunteer Fire Department, City Council, and four years as the Mayor. He belonged to the American Legion, VFW, and was a member of the Gordon United Methodist Church.
His survivors include sisters, Marba Jeanne Mundorf and Shirley Lewis of Bakersfield, Calif. and Belvadine Lecher and husband of Chadron.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Verta; two infant sons, Robert and Roger; his parents and a sister, Donnabelle Corman.
Memorials have been established for the Gordon Countryside Care, Gordon United Methodist Church or charity of donor's choice.
Memorial Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery.

James Locke, 75
(Nov. 9) James Locke, 75, of Lewellen died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 in Sidney.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1924 in Box Butte County.
His survivors include his wife, Maxine; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kinard of Glendale, Ariz.; sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Keenan of Broadwater and Betty Carlson of Alliance; one grandson and one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Assembly of God in Oshkosh. Burial will be in the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb.
Louise M. "Nina" Dickey, 87
(Nov. 9) Louise M. "Nina" Dickey, 87, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 at Box Butte General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 27, 1912 at Berea to Jesse and Ella (Scott) Franklin.
She was married to Albert "Red" Dickey on Dec. 24, 1930.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hemingford.
Her survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred of Colorado Springs, Colo., Calvin and Vera of Hemingford and Roy and Carol of Kearney; daughter and son-in-law, Ella and Richard of Olathe, Kansas; brother and sister-in-law, LaVern and Agnes Scott of Edgemont, S.D.; sister-in-law, Doris Scott of Lead, S.D.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Jessie; daughters, Sylvia and Lora Pauline, brother, Lyle, and sister Lora.
A memorial service will be at a later date.

Ronald Burnham, 65
(Nov. 8) Ronald Burnham, 65, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1934 at Hastings to Clarence and Leonna Burnham.
He worked as a diesel mechanic at Modern Farm Equipment of Gordon and worked on a ranch.
He was an Army Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V.
His survivors include his son, Wayne of Bremerton, Wash.; daughter, Lori Gordon of Big Valley, Alberta, Canada; brothers, Paul of Arvada, Colo., Bill of Hastings and Chuck of Red Cloud; sisters, Dorothy Ennis of Marysville, Calif. and Deloris Marquardt of Hastings; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Gordon Cemetery with Rev. Vonne Blessman Anderson officiating. The Fred F. Studevant Post No. 34 will perform military rites.
A memorial has been established for the Gordon American Legion Post. Donations may be sent to the First National Bank, P.O. Box 290, Gordon, NE 69343.

Marguerite E. Long, 91
(Nov. 8) Marguerite E. Long, 91, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen.
She was born on May 2, 1908 to Charlie and Delliah (Sheets) Marsh in Wesington Springs, S.D.
She was married to Calvin F. Long on Nov. 22, 1926 in Valentine.
They were long-time residents of Hooker County were they managed the Pool Hall in Mullen.
Her survivors include her son and his wife, Gerald and Sandra of Torrington, Wyo.; daughters and son-in-law, Verla Robonson of Nevada and Carlsie and Shorty Baldwin of Arizona.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Delbert King officiating. Burial will be at the Ceterview Cemetery in Mullen.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the Mullen Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
A memorial has been established for the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home.

Darlene M. Brewer, 70
(Nov. 8) Darlene M. Brewer, 70, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Warner Robins, Georgia.
She was born Jan. 27, 1999 at Hemingford to J.J. and Marie Prochazka.
She was married to Wayne Brewer on August 17, 1949 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hemingford. They lived in Wichita, Kansas for 20 years and then later to Warner Robins for the remainder of her life.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was involved with the Legion of Mary, Altar Society and Guild Chairman.
Her survivors include her husband, Wayne; children, Douglas Brewer of Lizella, Georgia, Cheryl Turner of San Antonio, Texas, Gregory Brewer of Macon, Georgia, and Larry Brewer of Newport News, Virginia; brother, Kenneth Prochazka of Hemingford; and eight grandchildren.
Her parents and twin brother, Donald Prochazka, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church with Father Hugh Spanel officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Wake services will be Thursday, at 7 p.m. at St. Bridget Church.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
