Elda Mehl
Elda Elizabeth Mehl, 79, of 1121 W. Sixth St. died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Wedgewood Care Center.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Liberal, Kan. The Rev. Curt Holzworth will officiate. Burial will be in Balko Mennonite Cemetery.
Kitch Funeral Home in Liberal is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mehl was born
on March 16, 1920, near Cimarron, Kan., to Pierre Collie and Bertha (Fransisco) Egbert. She graduated from high school at Ingalls, Kan., in 1936. She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1940.
She married Otto J. Mehl in August 1941, and they lived in Wichita, Kan. The couple later moved to Liberal, where they spent 27 years before relocating to Grand Island in 1995. She worked as a nurse at Epworth Hospital in Liberal for several years and later served as office manager for Mehl Concrete until they sold the business in 1972.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Liberal and was active in mission work. She attended the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island. She had taught Sunday school and enjoyed oil painting, china painting and quilting.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Earl of Brunswick, Ga., and Gary of Grand Island; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earl of Grand Junction, Colo.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter and six brothers.
Darlene Muller
Darlene Ann Muller, 66, of 7430 Sky Park Road died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the family's choice.
Miss Muller was born
on Sept. 5, 1933, in Grand Island to Ludwig Frederick Alex and Erma Gertrude Muller. She attended District 71 School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1951. She also attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She worked for a time at the American Paper Company and was then was employed at Commercial National Bank, which later became Firstier Bank, for 40 years.
Miss Muller was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She also belonged to the Rebecca Circle at the church and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was active in the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce Women's Division and the Prairie Pioneers Genealogical Society.
Survivors include two brothers, Lloyd L. Muller of Grand Island and Dr. Gene A. Muller of El Paso, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Muller.
Frank Derchowski
ASHTON -- Frank Derchowski, 92, of Ashton died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. The Rev. Larry Coulter will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. parish rosary, Sunday at the church.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Ashton Rescue Unit or the church.
Mr. Derchowski was born
on Oct. 7, 1907, on the family farm west of Farwell to John and Magdeline (Kosmicki) Derchowski. He attended Howard County rural schools in the Farwell area. Upon completing his education, he worked with his family on the farm.
He married Victoria Dembowski on Feb. 22, 1954, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The couple lived and worked on the family farm until retiring in 1973, when they moved into Ashton.
He enjoyed gardening and lawn work. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife and one sister, Marie "Maggie" (Mrs. Clemence) Stenka of Loup City.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Tony; and one sister, Agnes Jerabek.
'Dick' Kielian
SILVER CREEK -- Dominic "Dick" John Kielian, 63, of Silver Creek, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Rod Kneifl will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Church with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service. Further visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
McKown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kielian was born
Feb. 24, 1936, at rural Silver Creek to Joseph and Valeria (Prososki) Kielian. He grew up in Silver Creek and attended District 40 School. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1954, where he excelled as a football player. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp overseas in Okinawa.
He married Dollie Fast at Our Lady of Grace Church in Chicago, Ill. on Dec. 3, 1960. He lived in Chicago where he ran an establishment and sold insurance. He moved back to Silver Creek in 1967 where he farmed several years before owning his own salvage yard.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Silver Creek Football chain gang.
He enjoyed football, fishing and card playing.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nancy (Mrs. George) Gifford and Dorothy (Mrs. Steven) Brandenburger, both of Silver Creek and Valeria DeCamp of Pryor, Okla.; five sons, David of Platte Center; Richard and Billy, both of Kansas City, Kan., Anthony of Rising City and Bradley of Silver Creek; five sisters, Mary Ann (Mrs. Joe) Bartusiak of Morton Grove, Ill., Sophia (Mrs. Jess) Brewer of Dolan Springs, Ariz., Irene (Mrs. Lonnie) Kava of Fullerton and Jo (Mrs. Ambrose) Placzek and Theresa (Mrs. William) Tarnick, both of Columbus; five brothers, Alfred of Lincoln, John of Milliken, Colo., Louie Kielian of Greeley, Colo., Robert of Othello, Wash. and Joseph of Sidney; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Anthony and Stanley and one sister, Rose Kresha.
Milfred Newman
BROKEN BOW -- Milfred Neil Newman, 85, of Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Jim Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Mr. Newman was born
on Sept. 26, 1914, near Mason City to Charles and Mary (Swanson) Newman. He grew up in the Mason City area. He farmed in Custer County with his brother, Kenneth. In the mid-1980s, he retired and moved into Ansley. Mr. Newman moved into Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow in June 1994.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes and shuffleboard.
Survivors include two sisters, Roberta Wilson and Rachel Gallegos, both of Rawlins, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Tom, Kenneth and Don and an infant brother, Karl.
Edna Schillo
BURWELL -- Edna M. Schillo, 89, of Burwell died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home. The Rev. David Koenigsberg will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
Mrs. Schillo was born
in Burwell to Thomas and Anne (Schulz) Owen.
She married Albert Schillo in Golden, Colo.
Survivors include one stepson, Norman Schillo of Littleton, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Norma Jane Bremmer of Lopez, Wash.; two sisters, Norma Leach and Leah White, both of Burwell; and three brothers, Ellis Owen of Burwell, Stanley Owen of Littleton, Colo., and Raymond Owen of Lakewood, Colo.
Robert Schilousky Jr.
ALBION -- Robert Eugene Schilousky Jr., 66, of Albion died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Albion Bible Church. The Rev. Chuck Meyers will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Schilousky was born
on March 11, 1933, at Ewing to Robert and Edrie (Colfack) Schilousky. He attended the Petersburg and Ewing schools.
He married Dixie Singleton on Sept. 10, 1953, in Grand Island. The couple moved to Albion, where Mr. Schilousky owned and operated Albion Auto Parts and Salvage for 43 years.
He was a member of the Albion Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dan of Cedar Rapids and Joe and Paul, both of Albion; one daughter, Robbin (Mrs. Jim) McAllister of Lawton, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Jim) Crosby of Albion, Gloria (Mrs. Loran) Reinke of Smithfield and Joyce (Mrs. Mike) Prothman of Petersburg; and two brothers, Ralph of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Roy of Albion.
He was preceded in death by one grandson and four brothers.
Sharon Georges
SHUBERT -- Sharon D. Georges, 36, of Shubert died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Shubert Christian Church. The Rev. Milton Bryarly will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Union Cemetery in Shubert.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dorr Funeral Home in Falls City.
Mrs. Georges was born
on March 1, 1963, at St. Joseph, Mo., to Everette Jr. and Velma (Basham) Johnson. She attended school in St. Joseph and later earned her General Educational Development certificate through Central Community College in Grand Island.
She married Joey Georges on June 7, 1980, in St. Joseph, Mo. Mrs. Georges had worked at Mac Equipment in Sabetha, Kan., in 1994 and 1995. She had lived in Shubert for five years.
She was a member of the Shubert Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Joe, Ryan, Brian and Brandon, all of the home; one daughter, Tiffany of the home; her mother, Velma McFarland of St. Joseph, Mo.; her foster mother, Phyllis Swafford of St. Joseph; two brothers, Larry Johnson of Sabetha, Kan., and Dennis Johnson of St. Joseph; a sister, Tanya Moore of Rosendale, Mo.; and her grandmother, Duthiel Hannon of St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Darlene Muller
Darlene Muller, 66, of 7430 Skypark Road died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.
