Keith Barker

SARGENT -- Keith Barker, 33, of Sargent died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, as the result of an industrial accident in Clovis, Calif.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent with the Rev. Marty Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Sargent.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lorene Bjorklund

GREELEY -- Lorene Alice Bjorklund, 84, of Greeley died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at the Greeley Care Home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Greeley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Cynthia Altstadt will officiate. Burial will be in the Swedish Cemetery east of Greeley.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bjorklund was born icon on April 11, 1915, at Crosbyton, Texas, to Charles and Anna (Huebner) Otto. The family moved to the North Loup area when she was small. She attended schools in Valley County.

She married Leroy Bjorklund on Nov. 2, 1940, at Yuma, Ariz. The couple lived and worked in California for a time before moving back to a farm near Greeley. Mr. Bjorklund died in August 1979. Mrs. Bjorklund continued to live on the family farm until 1990, when she moved into Greeley. Because of deteriorating health, she moved to the Greeley Care Home in 1996.

She was a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church and was active in the Mary-Martha and WSCS church groups. She taught Sunday school and Bible school. Mrs. Bjorklund also was a member of the Willing Workers Extension Club.

Survivors include one son, Dennis of Greeley; two daughters, Judy (Mrs. Len) Marco of Central City and Carol (Mrs. Dwight) Engel of Great Falls, Mont.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dena Hamer of North Loup; and one brother, Art Otto of Kearney.

She was preceded in death by two infant sons and a brother, Leonard.

L. Maxine Brown

PALMER -- L. Maxine Brown, 84, of Palmer died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Palmer.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Palmer with the Rev. Ken West officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the church or the Palmer Rescue Squad.

Mrs. Brown was born icon on Oct. 8, 1915, at Palmer to Clifford and Justa (Forbes) Lamberson. She attended District 41 School in Merrick County and District 28 School in Nance County. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1933.

She married Jack Brown on Oct. 1, 1939, at Fullerton. They farmed in the Glenwood area near Palmer. He died in January 1972. She worked at Norm's Quality Market in Palmer as a grocery checker from 1972 to 1985. She moved to Palmer in 1973 and entered the nursing home in Palmer in May 1998.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the United Methodist Church in Palmer, Sunshine Circle and Glenwood Club.

Survivors include one son, Buster Brown of Omaha; two daughters, Joan (Mrs. C. Irvin) Parmenter of St. Joseph, Mo., and Barbara (Mrs. Ted Jr.) Rutten of Palmer; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Faye Lamberson of Audubon, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis and Guy; and one sister, Lois Hadley.

Lonnie George

ARCADIA -- Lonnie J. George, 41, of Arcadia died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

Services are pending with Peter's Funeral Home of Loup City.

Frances Hinze

SPALDING -- Frances J. Hinze, 87, of Spalding died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Friendship Villa in Spalding.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding with the Rev. Joe Hannappel officiating. Burial will be in Dennison Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with rosaries at 4:30 and 7 p.m., Tuesday at Dolce Scheef Mortuary in Spalding.

Mrs. Hinze was born icon on Oct. 3, 1912, at Spalding to Andrew A. and Josephine (Maier) Ringlein. She graduated from Spalding Academy in 1930. She remained at home to help care for younger siblings until she left to be married.

She married Delbert "Dyke" Hinze at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Omaha.

During the 1930s, they joined group of family and friends to pick fruit in Washington and Oregon, where she worked in canneries. They lived for short periods in Ohio and Illinois. They returned to Nebraska to farm near Akron. They worked for P.W. McManaman at Spalding and then moved to the Wheeler County line to farm. They later farmed near the Wheeler/Greeley County line. They bought a farm south of Spalding in 1947 and lived there until 1991, when they moved to York.

Mrs. Hinze was a homemaker, a member of St. Ann's Altar Society and a lifelong Catholic. She worked at Spalding Pharmacy during the 1960s and 1970s and at Spalding Manor as an administrative assistant form 1970 to 1973. Following her husband's death in 1994, Mrs. Hinze lived at Hearthstone Manor in York, RoseVista in Woodbine, Iowa, and Friendship Villa in Spalding.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Jack Hinze of Woodbine, Iowa, and Bob Hinze of Duncan; three daughters, Carol McKenzie and Kathy (Mrs. Ron) Spotanski, both of York, and Joan (Mrs. Royce) Campbell of Columbus; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Iwanski of St. Paul; and two brothers, John and Cletus Ringlein, both of Lincoln.

Norma Musil

RAVENNA -- Norma E. Musil, 76, of Ravenna died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at her home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna.

A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Musil was born icon on Jan. 9, 1923, in Ravenna to Irvin and Maude (Wiedner) Betke. She graduated from high school in 1940. She taught school in rural Ravenna before working at the Nebraska Turkey Growers plant in Gibbon.

She married Leonard Musil on June 21, 1945, in Ravenna. The couple lived on a farm southeast of Ravenna.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, her flower garden and playing cards.

Mrs. Musil was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a past member of the South Ravenna Women's Club.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sherry Schroeder of Grand Island and Deb Stickney of Kearney; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Chapman of Eureka, Calif.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Warren Betke.

Katherine Novotny

ST. EDWARD -- Katherine F. Novotny, 86, of St. Edward died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in St. Edward with the Rev. Kenn Leischner officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.

DeAnn Weeks

WAVERLY -- DeAnn Weeks, 49, of Waverly died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at her home.

Services are pending with Ord Memorial Chapel.

Marjorie Brandvold

SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Marjorie Brandvold, 69, of San Angelo, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at a local nursing center.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Johnson's Funeral Home. The Rev. Faith Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Brandvold was born icon on March 14, 1930, in Greeley. When she was about 3, her parents moved to her paternal grandfather's farmstead four and a half miles northwest of St. Libory.

She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School and accepted a civil service job with the Bureau of Reclamation at the Lincoln Air Force Base. She then went to Japan with the Department of Air Force Civilians on a two-year contract.

She married Emil Brandvold on Oct. 25, 1958, in Grand Island.

When she returned to the states, she followed her husband to Albuquerque, N.M., and worked for the U.S. Army at the Sandia base. She resigned her civil service commission in 1963 when her daughter was born icon and did not go back to work until after her son was born icon and was entering elementary school in 1977.

She retired in April 1998 from West Texas Medical Associates, where she worked as a transcriber.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sharon Moran of the Colony, Texas; a son, David of Glen Brunie, Md.; two sisters, Norma Jean Dunn of Staunton, Va., and Sondra Carter of Fairbanks, Alaska; and one brother, David Mohr of Grand Island.

Verna Inks

HAYS, Kan. -- Verna L. Inks, 58, of Hays, Kan., a former Grand Island resident, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at St. Anthony's Campus of Hays Medical Center.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel in Hays. The Rev. Earl Befort will officiate. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Inks was born icon on Sept. 6, 1941, in Buffalo, Okla., to Vernon and Lois (Edwards) Rains.

She married John Inks on April 12, 1961, at Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was a homemaker and lived in Grand Island for 13 years before moving to Hays.

Survivors include one son, Rick Hensen-Inks of Hays; four daughters, Johnna Seib of Kansas City, Mo., Rhonda Hutchins of Pueblo, Colo., Lois Anthony of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tonya Inks of Fort Smith, Ark.; one stepson, Justin Inks of Hutchinson, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Bill Rains of Wichita, Kan., and John Rains of Andover, Kan.; and two sisters, Patsy Glaves and Marge Seal, both of Douglas, Kan.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jeff; and one great-grandson.
