Ervin W. Mitzelfelt

Hastings resident Ervin W. Mitzelfelt, 84, of 637 S. Hastings Ave., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Harold Stromer officiating. Burial will be in the Glenvil Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and noon to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Mr. Mitzelfelt was born Sept. 4, 1915, to William and Emilla (Waterman) Mitzelfelt at Blue Hill. He attended elementary school in Blue Hill. On June 29, 1941, he married Leona Dieken. He worked for Abbott Dairy for 10 years in Hastings before he started farming south of Hastings. In 1960 he moved into Hastings and worked for the Adams County Highway Department as a maintainer operator. He retired in 1980.
He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, LeAnne Blau of Hastings; one son, Eldon of Hastings; one sister, Vera Schmidt of Grinnell, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Lloyd A. Davidson

Hebron resident Lloyd A. Davidson, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron with the Rev. Bruce Berggren officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Deshler. Visitation starts at 1 p.m. today at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home in Hebron.
Mr. Davidson was born Aug. 6, 1911, to Charles W. and Erma (Larkin) Davidson at Byron. He attended school in the Byron area. He farmed most of his life in Thayer County. On June 27, 1937, he married Ellen Abelbeck at Byron. She died in 1987. On May 5, 1990, he married Wilma A. Shults at Hebron.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Larry of Hebron; three stepsons, Leroy Boitnott of Rantool, Ill., Larry Boitnott of Ruskin and John Boitnott of Hebron; one daughter, Jerilyn Cortesi of Puyallup, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Donna Hanson of Ruskin and Wilma Dominy of Hebron; two brothers, Paul of Alexandria and Les of Panama; two sisters, Sybil Rahe of Concordia, Kan., and Lois Snyder of Bellevue, Wash.; six grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established.
Robert L. Shoemaker

Hastings resident Robert L. Shoemaker, 68, of 1519 W. Ninth St. died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Harold D. Stromer officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m.to 9 p.m. Monday and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Shoemaker was born Feb. 25, 1931, to William and Norma (Daugherty) Shoemaker in Alliance. He moved to Hastings in 1946 and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-53. On April 4, 1954, he married Donna I. Boyce. He worked 44 years for City National Bank, holding many positions. He was assistant vice president of operations when he retired in 1996.
He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post No. 11 and VFW Post No. 1346, all in Hastings. He was certified by the state of Nebraska as a life underwriter.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Debi Shoemaker-Ferrick of Forked River, N.J.; two sisters, Marjorie Voss of Pueblo West, Colo., and Joy Voss of Aurora, Colo.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to the church's God Made Me preschool.
Florence C. Kissler

Sutton resident Florence C. (Folz) Kissler, 97, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at the Sutton Community Home.
Rosary is 7:30 p.m. Sunday and services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sutton with the Rev. David Davis officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Sutton. Kohler Mortuary of Sutton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kissler was born July 2, 1902, to William and Catherine (Weber) Folz near Shickley. She attended School District No. 49 in Fillmore County. On March 19, 1931, she married Andrew "Jim" Kissler at St. Mary's Catholic Church near Shickley. They farmed south of Sutton until retirement. In 1966 they moved into Sutton. Her husband preceded her in death. She lived at Sutton Community Home the last few years of her life.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
Survivors are one daughter, LeAnn Salmen of Lincoln; one son, Dean of Sutton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Gene; two brothers; and four sisters.
Memorials may be given to the family or the church.
Mary V. Uden

Juniata resident Mary V. (Bayles) Uden, 77, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at the Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Dean Clausing officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery in rural Juniata. Visitation is until 9 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with family present from 3-4:30 p.m.
Mrs. Uden was born Nov. 28, 1921, to Lauren "Ed" and Laura (Mason) Bayles in Superior. She moved with her family to Hastings in 1924. On July 30, 1950, she married Glen Uden. She worked at various restaurants.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings.
Survivors are her husband; four sons, Ronald of Holdrege, Marvin and Gerald, both of Hastings and William of Holstein; two sisters, Marcia Fry and Alice Haase, both of Hastings; one brother, Bill of Hastings; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Wallin; three brothers; and one sister.
Memorials may be given to the Concordia Cemetery or donor's choice.

Byron resident John H. Lunzmann, 98, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Byron with the Rev. David Nordstrom officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is until 9:30 p.m. today at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home in Belleville, Kan.
Mr. Lunzmann was born June 17, 1901, to Christoph and Anna (Von Fintel) Lunzmann in Byron. He worked as a farmer all his life in the Byron area. On Oct. 14, 1926, he married Edna Peters. She died March 9, 1992.
Survivors are two sons, Arlen of Byron and Norman of Deshler.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege with the Rev. Dan Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Orleans Cemetery. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege.
Survivors are two daughters; one son, Dennis of Hastings; two sisters; one brother; and seven grandchildren.

Byron resident Emma L. (Kettelhut) Renz, 98, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron with the Rev. Howard Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Byron. Visitation is until 9:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home in Belleville, Kan.
Mrs. Renz was born Oct. 2, 1901, to Robert and Eda (Wenzel) Kettelhut in Bennet. On Oct. 20, 1920, she married Alven W. Renz. He died Dec. 22, 1971.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors are three sons, LaVerne of Lincoln, Gilbert of Albany, Ore., and Orlyn of Hardy; seven daughters, Aleatha McKay of Palmyra, Vivian Hansen of Hardy, LaVina Hansen of Hale, Mo., Verline Pribula of Las Cruces, N.M., Adrea Gebers of Byron, Elda Mae Pohlmann of Lincoln and Orma Jean Moon of McRae, Ark.; one sister, Ida Schutte of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Emerald Dean.
Guy R. Patton

Franklin resident Guy R. Patton, 78, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Franklin Nursing Center in Franklin.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church in Franklin with the Rev. Dwain Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Riverton Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Mr. Patton was born Nov. 6, 1920, to John and Elsie (James) Patton on a farm northeast Franklin. He attended Melrose School District No. 61. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46. He then farmed in Franklin County. On May 7, 1979, he married Doris Nelson. She died Dec. 20, 1984.
He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Evangelical Free Church and the VFW Post No. 5757 in Franklin.
Survivors are four sisters, Jessie Burg of Campbell, Nellie Meyer of Franklin, Marjorie Bergman of Riverton and Virginia Laux of Upland.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter and two brothers.

Geneva resident Ethel E. (Johnson) Benson, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, in Geneva.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stockholm Lutheran Church in rural Shickley. Burial will be in the Ong Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. today at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mrs. Benson was born June 19, 1913, to Claus and Amelia (Bjorklund) Johnson in Shickley. On Sept. 9, 1933, she married Lynn Morris Benson. He died Sept. 16, 1994.
Survivors are one son, Eldon of Ong; one daughter, Rosy Niedt of Lincoln; two brothers, Edwin of Shickley and Lynn of Geneva; one sister, Pearle Holsten of North Platte; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
