Robert S. 'Bob' Jones

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Robert S. "Bob" Jones, 81, a longtime resident of the Wenatchee, Wash. area, also of North Platte, died March 8, 2 001.

He was born Oct. 21, 1919, at Wilbur, Wash., to Thomas Fred and Anna Belle Warehime Jones. He graduated from Wilbur High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa, Italy and Germany as a crane operator. Following his discharge, he returned to Wilbur.

On March 31, 1947, he married Irene E. Hudkins. In 1947, he began working as a mortician at Jones and Jones Funeral Home in Wenatchee. He retired as co-owner in 1986.

On Dec. 11, 1998, he married Margie Twidwell of North Platte at Quartzsite, Ariz., and they enjoyed spending time in North Platte, Wenatchee and Quartzsite.

He enjoyed dancing, fishing, woodworking, gardening, photography and making jewelry.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Margie; a daughter, Carol (Dan) Crimmons of Moscow, Idaho; a son, James R. (Robin) of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; two grandchildren, Geoff Crimmons and Kelly Crimmons Long, both of Moscow; and a sister, Ida May Weldert of Spokane.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene, in March 1986; and a sister.

Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilbur Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery.

Gerald E. Monson

BRADY — Gerald E. Monson, 81,of Brady died March 9, 2001, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 7, 1919, northeast of Brady to Alfred and Ruby Elnora Sylvan Monson. He attended Stannuth School and then graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1938. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force in England as a mechanic from April 2, 1942, to October 1945. He ranched north Brady most of his life.

Mr. Monson is survived by a sister, Eleanor (Morris) Anderson of Gothenburg; two brothers, Wayne (Vonna) Monson and Donald (Mary), all of Brady; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Ed Anderson.

Memorials are suggested to the Heart Fund or to the donor's choice.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with the Rev. Kenneth Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.

Lois Marie Drews Paloucek

MESA, Ariz. — Lois Marie Drews Paloucek, 69, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Holyoke, Colo., and Ogallala, died March 9, 2001, at her home.

She was born June 5, 1931, in Keith County to Adolph and Mabel Pahl Drews. She was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She grew up in the Paxton and Roscoe area and graduated from Ogallala High School. She then attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont for two years before returning to Keith County.

On Feb. 14, 1954, she married Joe Paloucek Jr. in Ogallala at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In 1990, they moved to Ogallala to retire and later moved to Mesa.

She enjoyed sewing, crafts and painting. She won Best in Show at the Holyoke Art Show. She was a member of the Art Guild, Acturus Club and Women of Zion. She volunteered her time to many organizations and delivered Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan (Greg) Goodenow of Craig, Colo., Linda (Randy) Gustafson of Fremont and Janet (Bob) Smith of Holyoke; a sister-in-law, Helen Drews of Ogallala; an aunt, Fay Pahl of Ogallala; a cousin, Fae Christensen of Paxton; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerald Drews.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala with the Rev. David Dobbertien officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.

Earl Eugene Fletcher

STERLING, Colo. - Earl Eugene Fletcher, 54, of Sterling, Colo., formerly of North Platte, died Feb. 27, 2001, in Denver.

He was born Aug. 9, 1946, in North Platte to Orvel and Rachel Applegarth Fletcher. He attended school in North Platte and Sterling. In 1980, he returned to North Platte and began working for the Union Pacific Railroad, where he was a fireman-oiler. He was forced to retire because of ill health.

He enjoyed fishing, building model cars, and auto repair.

Mr. Fletcher is survived by a daughter, Serena (Franklin) Dowhower of North Platte; two sons, Tracy of North Platte and Kerry (Michelle) of Sterling; his mother Rachel Smotherman of Sterling; six sisters, Shirley Campbell, Rita (Rick) Buss, Debra (Dee) Bowen, Roberta (Richard) Dietz, Jerre Fletcher and Brenda Taylor, all of Sterling; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Beverly; and a brother, Duane.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Tennant Funeral Home in Sterling with the Rev. John Spence. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Tennant Funeral Home.

Daniel B. Henry Jr.

COZAD - Dan Henry Jr. of Cozad died Feb. 28, 2001, at the Cozad Hospital. He was 65.

He was born Jan. 13, 1936, at Stapleton to Daniel and Evelyn Ash Henry. He attended school in Stapleton and California, and graduated from Cozad High School.

On Aug. 8, 1954, he married Norma Clark at Elwood. They lived in Lexington, California and rural Cozad before moving into Cozad. He was an assistant manager for Howell Lumber Co. for several years before becoming an independent construction contractor. In addition to carpentry, he also raised cattle. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a former president of the Cozad Volunteer Fire Department, a member of a bass fishing club, the Nebraska Chapter of Safari International, a former member of the Cozad Elks Lodge, the Lions Club and the Jaycees.

Mr. Henry is survived by his wife; four sons, Rick (Wendy) of Eustis, Dan (special friend Tania) of Lincoln and Chris (Nancy) and Jon (Denise), all of Cozad; a sister, Margaret "Peg" Henry of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Dennis "Buzz" (Karen) of Lexington and Jim (Sue) of Arlington, Texas; and 10 grandchildren, Silke, Mindy, Ross, Zachery, Cuyler, Matt, Carly, Gavin, Kara and Cameron.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Church of Christ on Newell in Cozad with the Rev. Roger Sloan officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad.

Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge.

Daisy F. Rundback

Daisy Frances Ellen Rundback, 96, of Ringgold died March 1, 2001, at Premier Estates.

She was born Jan. 2, 1905, to Arch and Theresa Robinson Trembly at Kearney. She grew up in Flats.

On April 21, 1926, she married Herbert Rundback. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1960. The couple lived in the Thune area before moved to North Platte, where they ran the Lemon Café. They also lived in the Sutherland area, where they farmed and ranched. In 1940, they moved to Ringgold. After retiring in 1980, she moved to Stapleton.

She was a member of the Ringgold Free Methodist Church since 1992, the Senior Quilting Group and the Stapleton Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers.

Mrs. Rundback is survived by three daughters, Mary (Timothy) Lake of Tryon, Hazel (Robert) Wolf of Stapleton and Irene (Gary) Branham of North Platte; a son, Carl (Barbara) of Ringgold; a niece, Eva (Al) Bellinger of Lodi, Calif.; a nephew, Charlie (Glenda) Trembly of Texas; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Joan Gaites.

She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Judy Patterson; an infant great-grandchild, Tony Wolf; and a brother, Ronald Trembly.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Ringgold Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Christopher officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 5:30 p.m. today. and from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.

Daniel B. Henry Jr.

COZAD - Dan Henry Jr. of Cozad died Feb. 28, 2001, at the Cozad Hospital. He was 65.

He was born Jan. 13, 1936, at Stapleton to Daniel and Evelyn Ash Henry. He attended school in Stapleton and California, and graduated from Cozad High School.

James E. Monnier

James E. Monnier, 42, of North Platte died Feb. 27, 2001.

He was born Nov. 4, 1958, at Omaha to Herman and Rhoda Ellen McGinnis Monnier. He graduated from North Platte High School ijn 1977 and moved to the Beaver Crossing area, where he was a farm and ranch hand. He was later employed as an independent truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.

Mr. Monnier is survived by his father of North Platte; three sisters, Susan (Steven) Wolter of St. Joseph, Mich., Connie (Alfonso) Bernal and Linda Hernandez, all of North Platte; a brother, William (Jennifer) Monnier of North Platte; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1997.

Memorials are suggested to the American Kidney Foundation.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dwane Johnson of Riverside Baptist Church officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.

Jens H. Morrison

Jens H. Morrison, 92, a former North Platte resident, died Feb. 28, 2001, in Missouri.

He was born Sept. 25, 1908, in rural Custer County. He completed the eighth grade in Logan County and then quit school to help on the family farm. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church.

In 1938, he married Bernice Lorraine Glaze and they had a daughter, Lorraine Marie, and a son, Edward Jens. His wife preceded him in death.

In 1946, he married Lois Johnson Cruise, who also preceded him in death. In 1985, he married Elsie Watson.

Mr. Morrison farmed and ranched in Lincoln and Logan counties until his retirement in 1979. He moved to North Platte, where he lived until moving to the Royal Care Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo., in January 2000.

Surviving him is his wife, Elsie of North Platte; a daughter, Lorraine (Lenard) Bobst of International Falls, Minn.; a son, Ed (Sharon) of Kearney, Mo.; a sister, Anna Glaze of North Platte; two sisters-in-law, Teresa Morrison of Lincoln and Tressie Glaze of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Candy and Marc Millsap, Robyn and Brock Hessing, Jeff and Andrea Morrison, Connie and Chris Beshore, Gary, Joyce, Lenard, Traci and Tamara Bobst; and 13 great-grandchildren, Haley, Mitch, Hannah and Allene Millsap, Brock III, Jessie and Annie Hessing, Cooper Morrison and Stacy, Gary Jr., Elizabeth, Ryan and Allison Bobst.

Besides his first two wives, he was also preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Pauline Morrison; two sisters, Christine Brosius and Sophie Joy; and three brothers, Harry, Nels and Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Liberty Hospital Hospice or the American Heart Association.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
