Lloyd C. Kelly

ANSELMO - Lloyd C. Kelly of Omaha, formerly of Anselmo, died March 9, 2001, in Omaha.

He was born Nov. 18, 1965, at Mather Air Force Base in California to Calvin and Mable Babcock Kelly. He attended school in Holland while his father was stationed there. His family later moved to Anselmo and he graduated from Anselmo-Merna High School in 1985. Following high school he attended Kearney State College for 3½ years. He then moved to Omaha and later to Las Vegas, where he worked for many years in health care. He had recently returned to Omaha.

He was an avid golfer and a Cornhusker fan.

Mr. Kelly is survived by his mother of Anselmo; his father of Gibbon; his stepmother, Karen Kelly of Gibbon; a grandmother, Elva Neilsen of Anselmo; two sisters, Maria Burke of Crawford and Lola Jilek of Gibbon; two stepsisters, Christy Andersen of Albuquerque and Tammy Jeffs of Kearney; a stepbrother, Rod Thompson of Winterset, Iowa; and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three grandparents.

Christian Wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Broken Bow Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Philipsen officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Eva Krause

GRANT - Eva Krause, 85, a former Grant resident, died March 10, 2001, at Linden Court in North Platte.

She was born Dec. 10, 1915, at Enid, Okla., to George and Sarah Regier Huebert. When she was young they moved to Henderson. They later returned to Perkins County and lived in the Madrid area before moving to Venango, where she graduated from high school.

On April 4, 1937, she married Raymond Krause. They farmed in the Madrid area before moving to Grant, where she was the cafeteria manager at the Grant High School. She remained in Grant at her home after her husband died in 1982, until 1994, when she moved to North Platte.

She was active in the Grant New Life Fellowship, the Grant Senior Center and the garden club.

Mrs. Krause is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Delmer) VanLengen of Hastings and Linda (Dean) Oman of North Platte; a daughter-in-law, Leona Krause of Oberlin, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Brenda and Nell VanLengen, Angie Mohr, Karla Wilson, Steve Krause and Dustin and Haley Oman; a sister, Esther Boese of Grant; and two great-grandsons.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Ray Gene; three sisters; and three brothers.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the New Life Fellowship Church with the Rev. Charles Harder officiating. Burial will be in the Madrid Cemetery.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge.

Lois Joyce Lambert

WILCOX - Lois Joyce Lambert, 75, of Wilcox, mother of Roxann Pickard and grandmother of Sherri Pickard, both of North Platte, died March 10, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Superior to Conrad Adam and Ople Lavina Nunnekemp Jacoby. She graduated from high school in Onawa, Iowa.

On Dec. 5, 1942, she married Bernard LeRoy Lambert at Dakota City. They moved to North Platte, then to Wilcox.

Mrs. Lambert is survived by three daughters, Connie (William) Silas of Wilcox, Roxann (Jack) Pickard of North Platte and Rebecca Lambert of Holdrege; a son, Thomas (Anne) of Elwood; nine grandchildren, Sherri Pickard of North Platte, Tracy (Joel) Groothuis and Jamie Silas, all of Wilcox, Markette (Joe) Graf of Kearney, Brandi (Shahn) of Aurora, Justin Bendorf of Giltner, Heather and Brooke Lambert of Holdrege, and Shanda Lambert of Elwood; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Louise (Jule) Goehring of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Lyle (Barb) Lambert of Onawa, Iowa; other relatives and many friends

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 25, 1977; her great grandson, Cody Graf; her mother; her father; and her sister, Constance Jacoby, at birth.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox with the Rev. Eugene Layne officiating. Burial will be in the Wilcox Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time today at the church.

Jennifer Renea Lowe

PLANO, Texas - Jennifer Renea Lowe, 19, of Plano, Texas, formerly of North Platte, died March 9, 2001, following a car accident near South Padre Island.

She was born Jan. 6, 1982, in North Platte to Michael and Gail Lowe. She graduated from Plano East High School in 2000, and had planned to attend Texas Christian University in the fall. She was known for her athletic ability and had set the record in the triple-jump and sprint relays.

Miss Lowe is survived by her parents; a sister, Kelsey; her grandparents, Ruth Giesehagen of North Platte and Bonnie and Wayne Bayliss of Indianola; aunts and uncles Stephen Lowe and Susan and Merle Stillwell, all of North Platte, Stephen and Cindy Bayliss of Columbus, Marvin Bayliss of Indianola, Debra and Stephen Thalken of Des Moines, Iowa, and Roy and Lucia Bayliss of Houston.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Christ United Methodist Church in Plano. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time today at the church.

Eastgate Funeral Home in Plano is in charge.

Darold James Raburn

HAIGLER - Darold James Raburn, 68, of Haigler, formerly of Grant, died March 6, 2001, at his home in Haigler of pancreatic cancer.

He was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Lebanon to Floyd and Viola Hale Raburn. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years as a control tower operator.

In 1959, he married Sharon Odean in Lincoln. He graduated form the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy in1960. In 1982, after owning two pharmacies in Broken Bow and Grant, he purchased the Seier Drug in Wray, Colo. In April 1995, he sold the pharmacy and retired, then began helping at the Shop-All Pharmacy.

He was involved in the Masonic Lodge in Bartley, the Scottish Rite of Lincoln, the American Legion of Haigler and the University of Nebraska Alumni Association.

Mr. Raburn is survived by his wife; two daughters, Nancy (Ken) Vasa of Salem, Ore., and Peg Raburn of Hays, Kan.; a son Ted (Jill) of Claremore, Okla.; his mother; his mother-in-law, Mae Odean of North Platte; two brothers, Joe (Lorene) Raburn of Cambridge and Harold Marian Raburn of Holdrege; nine grandchildren, Josh Jones of Laramie, Wyo., Ashley Raburn of McCook, Sarah and Mackenzie Raburn of Hays, Evan and Ali Vasa of Salem, and Katie, Daniel and Jenny Raburn of Claremore, Okla.; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

The body was cremated and there will be private family services at a later date.

Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home of Wray is in charge.

Murrel Shumpert

OLIVE BRANCH Miss. - Murrel Daniel Shumpert, 77, father of Mike Shumpert of North Platte, died March 10, 2001 at the Baptist Memorial East in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Dorsey, Miss., to Keither and Sarah Elizabeth Haddox Shumpert.

He served in World War II with the U.S. Marines and had worked for Consolidated Freightways for 35 years.

Mr. Shumpert is survived by three daughters, Sandra Faye Callahan and Diane Webster, both of Memphis, Cheryl Caudillo of Olive Branch; three sons, Dan of Horn Lake, Miss., Jim of Southhaven, Miss., and Mike of North Platte; a sister, Mary Faulconer of Melboune Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Rubel Shumpert of Red Level, Ala., and Roy Shumpert of North Port; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Crawford Shumpert; and his parents.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gunter and Peel Funeral Home in Columbus, Miss., with the Rev. Tony Proctor officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Miss.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Gunter and Peel Funeral Home in Columbus, Miss.

Robert B. Turner

Robert Benjamin Turner, 78 of North Platte died March 12, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

He was born April 6, 1922, to Glen Herbert and Erdene Leon Ditto Turner at Belleville, Kan. He spent his early years in Fairbury.

Mr. Turner served from 1941 to 1946 with the U.S. Air Force 9th Air Transport Command and had a European tour of duty.

On June 17, 1942, he married Doris Jeanne Knobel at Marysville, Kan. They moved to North Platte in 1949, where he worked as a carpenter foreman on the construction of Adams Junior High School. In 1950, he joined the North Platte Fire Department and worked there for nearly 40 years.

He was a member of the Berean Fundamental Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1504 and American Legion Post 163.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patricia (Marvin) Bartels of North Platte; four sons, David W. (Pam) of Wichita, Kan., Michael G. (Roberta) of Scottsbluff, Dennis A. Sr. (Penny) of Fairburn, Ga., and Robert L. (Paula) of Grafton, Va.; 15 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judith Jean Turner; his parents; a sister, Maxine Turner; and a brother, Howard Turner.

His body was donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Nebraska. There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Berean Fundamental Church or KJLT Radio station in North Platte.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl M. Goltz officiating. Burial with military honors by the North Platte Veteran's Honor Guard will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.

Those wishing to sign the memorial book can do so from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte.

Mavis Walburn

OGALLALA -Mavis Walburn, 58, of Ogallala died March 11, 2001, at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

She was born October 5, 1942, in Joliet, Ill., to Paul and Mary Rogers Boucher. She attended school in Plainfield, Ill.

On June 4, 1958, she married Nibs Walburn in Clinton, Iowa. They lived in Blue Island, Ill., and in 1959, they moved to Blue Hill. In 1963, the family moved to Ogallala, where her husband was working at Natural Gas Distributing/KN Energy. In 1992, she went to work for Kentucky Fried Chicken as manager. In 1997, she managed the Subway Sandwich Shop, retiring in 1998.

Her hobbies included crocheting and camping with the family.

Mrs. Walburn is survived by her husband; a daughter, Malisa (Marty) O'Neail of Ogallala; two sons, Rocky (Brenda) Walburn of Axtell and Wayne (Cara) Walburn of LaHabra, Calif.; her mother, Mary Zeigler of Ogallala; three sisters, Mary Katheryn Marso of Orange, Calif., Patricia Kagey of Whittier, Calif., and Carol (Ray) Kelly of Plainfield, Ill.; a brother, Joseph Boucher of Orange; an aunt, Helen (Eddie) Tatro of Joliet; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established in her memory.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Draucker Funeral Chapel.

Evangelist Jay Towell of the Church of Christ will officiate. The body will be cremated. Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.

Robert M. Walters

GRAND ISLAND - Robert M. Walters, 85, of Grand Island, formerly of North Platte, died March 10, 2001, of respiratory failure at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.

He was born April 1, 1915, in Bonesteel, S.D., to Robert John and Mattie Oldham Walters. He also lived in South Dakota and Washington. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Nov. 5, 1941, he married Evelyn Hubbeling in Sheridan Wyo. They were married 58 years.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in North Platte and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

Mr. Walters is survived by two daughters, Alta Cain of Westfield, Ind., and Marjorie Baker of Ames, Iowa; a brother, Douglas Walters of Chamberlain, S.D.; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, Feb. 24, 2000; two sisters; and four brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. March 23, 2001, at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames with the Rev. Stephen McDuff officiating.

The body was cremated. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery

There will be no visitation. Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge.
