WESLEY MASTERS

Wesley Gordon Masters, 76, of Orford, died on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Boston following a brief illness.

He was born on December 23, 1927 in Pittsburg, the son of Weldon Irving and Florence E. (Foster) Masters. He served in the Army for three years following World War II.

Wesley was employed as a commercial artist and lived in Michigan during the summer months and Florida during the winter. He returned to New England in 1975, and ultimately to Orford in 1978.

Wesley was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing in his younger years. He also enjoyed the outdoors and cross-country skiing. He was a member of the American Legion in White River Junction, Vt., and a member of the Union Village (Vt.) Methodist Church, where he was very active in its affairs. He even painted a large portrait of Jesus that adorns the church wall.

He is survived by five sisters, Rita C. Lyons of Middletown, N.Y.; Betty J. Johnson of Pittsburg; Anita E. Francoeur of Westbrook, Maine; Ethel M. Delcourt of Gorham, Maine and Pearl Masters; three brothers, Weldon S. of Bismark, Ark., Randall R. of Texas, and Larry; and many nieces and nephews.

His sister, Dorothy Karasiewicz and his brother, Russell E., predeceased him.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21 at 10 a.m. in the Union Village Methodist Church. A reception will follow. Burial will be at the Hollow Cemetery in Pittsburg later in the day. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover.

EVANGELINE SULLIVAN

Evangeline F. Sullivan, 82, of Groveton, died on October 14, 2004 at home after a lengthy illness.

Born in Canada on January 23, 1922, she was the daughter of Idola and Noellie (St. Pierre) Belleville.

She enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her husband, Mike Sullivan. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing golf and bingo.

Her husband died in 1999.

The family includes a son, Roger Brousseau of Canaan; three daughters, Diane Glidden of Center Barnstead, Shirley Berube of Groveton and Martha Philbrick of Epsom; three sisters, Marcelle Belanger of Newmarket, Ontario, Lise Lizzie of Berlin and Jeannine Belleville of Deauville, Quebec; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

There are no calling hours. A memorial Mass was held on Monday at St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton, with the Rev. Craig Cheney officiating. Burial followed in Northumberland Cemetery, Groveton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Weeks Home Health Services, 278 Main St., Lancaster, NH 03584. Bailey Funeral Home of Lancaster is handling the arrangements.

ELIZABETH FOLSOM

Elizabeth "Bette" E. Folsom, 68, died on November 28, 2004, at Concord Hospital. She was born on February 12, 1936 in West Stewartstown, the daughter of Edward and Carrie (Woods) Poupart. She was formerly of Groveton.

She was married to Roland Folsom on September 25, 1978, in Boscawen. She was a loving wife and mother. She had worked for Beede Electric in Penacook.

She loved to sing and play the guitar. Before her sickness, she enjoyed snowmobiling. She was a member of several small engine clubs spread across New England.

Family members include her husband, Roland Folsom of Boscawen; a daughter, Jane Hickey of Kentucky; four stepsons, Roland Folsom Jr. of Deerfield, Michael Folsom of Northwood, Kevin Folsom of Nashua, and Steven Folsom of Boscawen; two stepdaughters, Debra Boutwell of Webster, and Cindy Folsom of North Carolina; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Bigelow of Boscawen and Josephine Bonenfant of Allenstown; and many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. An interment service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the chapel at the State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. A reception will follow at the home of John Davis, 68 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association, or to the Concord Hospital Philanthropy Office, both at 250 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03301; or to the Penacook Rescue Squad, North Main Street, Boscawen, NH 03303. AFCS Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

GRAYDON LYONS

Graydon L. Lyons, 72, of Diamond Pond Road, Colebrook, died on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, where he was surrounded by his loving wife and three children and their spouses.

Grady was born March 10, 1932, in Colebrook, the son of Erna (Goodwin) Lyons and Albion Lyons. He was a lifelong resident of Colebrook. He and Eleanor (Corbett) were married on June 26, 1954. Grady and Eleanor operated their dairy farm, Gra-Elie, in Kidderville from 1954 to 1978. From 1978 to 1993 he operated the farm as a partner with his son, Bruce.

Grady was graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1951. He was very active in the Colebrook Chapter of the Future Farmers of America. In 1953 he received the FFA Star American Farmer Award for the North Atlantic Region. During that year he served as the State President for the Granite State Association. In the early 1970s he was a charter member and president of the Colebrook FFA Alumni Chapter. He served on the Colebrook School Board from 1977 to 1980.

Grady was the Master of the Mohawk Grange #217 for the past 25 years and had been a Granger since 1954. He had been a member of the Monadnock Congregational Church since 1956 and served as Trustee, and was a Deacon at the time of his death. He was a member of the Evening Star Lodge #37 F&AM of Colebrook since 1967 and the Eureka Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Star since 1968. He served as Worthy Patron in 1976 and 1977.

Grady was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's ballgames, recitals, plays and proms. Grady loved to dance to country music. He liked watching Boston Celtics basketball games on TV. He and Eleanor spent many pleasant hours at their camp on Maidstone Lake.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor (Corbett) of Colebrook, his daughter Eldonna Brooks, and her husband Clint; son Bruce and his wife Stephanie; and son Brent, all of Colebrook. He has seven grandchildren: Matthew Brooks of Dixfield, Me., Aaron Brooks of Norwich, Conn., Stephen, Jennifer, Kim, and Dana Lyons, and Asenath Brooks, all of Colebrook. He has one great-grandchild, Anja Brooks, of Norwich, Conn. He also leaves behind his brother, Albion Lyons, and his wife, Janice, of Colebrook. He also is survived by three nieces, two nephews, an aunt, several cousins, and many fine friends and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his father, Albion, in 1951, his mother, Erna, in 1976, and his brother "Sonny" in 1931.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, November 30, at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. An Eastern Star Service was also held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening. A funeral service was to be held today, Wednesday, December 1, at 11 a.m. at the Colebrook Congregational Church with Pastor Rebecca Larson officiating.

YVONNE PAQUETTE

Yvonne Aline Paquette, 100, of Colebrook passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday morning, November 27, 2004 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown.

She was born on September 3, 1904 in Paquetteville, P.Q., Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Origine (Hebert) Gagner. Mrs. Paquette attended school in Canada. She married the late Philibert Paquette on September 26, 1926. The couple moved to the United States in 1929, and purchased and ran farms in Clarksville and East Colebrook for many years. She also worked several years at Howard's Restaurant in Colebrook.

Mrs. Paquette was awarded the Boston Post Cane on December 9, 2000, as Colebrook's eldest resident. She was a 58-year member of the Mohawk Grange and a parishioner at St. Brendan's Church in Colebrook. Mrs. Paquette enjoyed bingo and cards, especially bid whist, as well as sewing and quilting.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rejeanne Gilbert of Colebrook, Mrs. Fernand (Suzanne ) Roy of Canaan, Vt. and Mrs. Monique Marquis of Enfield, Conn.; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice and Sandra Paquette of Colebrook, Mr. and Mrs. Jean-Paul and Fernande Paquette of South Canaan, Vt. and Mr. and Mrs. Herman and Brenda Paquette of East Colebrook; a sister, Marie-Jeanne Beloin of Coaticook, P.Q., Canada; and 23 grandchildren , 32 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Philibert in 1953, and by eight sisters and two brothers. Calling hours were held Monday, November 29, and Tuesday, November 30 at the Newman Funeral Home, Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Brendan's Church in Colebrook, with the Reverend Albert Bellefeuille officiating. Burial was at St. Henri Cemetery in East Hereford, P.Q., Canada.

Donations in memory of Mrs. Paquette may be sent to St. Brendan's Church, Pleasant Street, Colebrook, NH 03576.

SISTER ANITA BONIN

Sister Anita Bonin, FCSCJ (S. Wilfrid-Marie), a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, died on January 22, 2005 at Mount Sacred Heart Provincial House and Infirmary.

She was born in Massawippi, Quebec, on April 10, 1927, the daughter of Wilfrid Bonin and Rose Dauphin. She professed her vows with her religious congregation on July 26, 1949. During her 56 years of religious life, Sister Anita served in various missions in Newport, Vt.; Colebrook and Littleton; and Augusta, Maine.

From 1965-1986, Sister Anita managed the former Sacred Heart High School kitchen in Newport, Vt. From 1986-1997, she managed the kitchen at the Provincial House and Retirement Home of the United States Province of the Daughters of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At that time, Sister Anita sifted into more full-time sewing services within the community, until her illness prevented her from working in recent months.

Sister's greatest pastime was to visit with members of her family and other sisters from her community. She was fond of jigsaw puzzles and enticed many to sit with her, even on challenging 3-D projects. She treasured her experiences in her various missions and readily shared her stories.

Sister Anita was predeceased by her parents. Besides her sisters in the religious community, she is survived by two sisters, Simone Tardif and Leontine Girard; nine brothers, Laureat, Jean-Claude, Leo-Pold, Joseph, Yves, Gerard, Romeo, Antonio and Armand; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held at Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, on Monday. Spring interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery. Local arrangements by Ross Funeral Home, Littleton Chapel.

DORIS DALY

Doris H. (Baker) Daly, 90, of Nashua, died on January 20, 2005 at the Courville at Nashua. Born in Manchester July 21, 1914, she was the daughter of Philip A. and Lizzie M. (George) Baker. She lived in Nashua for many years. Her husband of 28 years, Edward J. Daly, died on May 8, 1994.

Mrs. Daly had worked as an executive secretary to Robert Amory of the former Nashua Manufacturing Co. for several years. Earlier in her career, she taught school in Pittsburg, Woodsville and Goffstown high schools.

Educated in New Hampshire, she attended elementary school in Hooksett, was graduated from Central High School in Manchester and earned her teaching degree from Plymouth Normal School. She was a member of the National Secretaries Association.

The family includes a sister-in-law, Sister Theresa Bernard of the Sisters of Notre Dame of Worcester, Mass.; a niece, a nephew and several grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Calling hours were held on Monday afternoon at Farwell Funeral Home in Nashua, followed by a funeral at the funeral home and burial in Edgewood Cemetery. The Rev. James S. Chaloner, pastor of The First Church, U.C.C., officiated. Memorial donations may be made to Home Health and Hospice Care, 22 Prospect St., Nashua, NH 03060.

MAURICE DAVIS

Maurice Earl Davis, 80, of Columbia, died on Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook.

He was born on January 9, 1925 in Nashua, the son of Earl F. and Corine (Bisson) Davis. After service in the Army during World War II, Mr. Davis was married to Beverly Book on July 12, 1955. He spent most of his employed years in Long Island, N.Y., where he worked first as an exterminator and later as a bus driver, and finally as a bank courier for Purelator, where he was recognized as Top Driver due to his safety record. After his retirement Mr. Davis moved to Columbia, where he had vacationed for many years. He was a writer, and several of his poems and shorts stories were published.

Mr. Davis enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing the piano, especially jazz. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Beverly Davis of Columbia; a son Glenn Davis of Jackson, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Claudette) Campbell of Lakewood, Calif., and Ms. Sherry Davis of Corah, Long Island, N.Y.; a sister Claire Nelson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Davis, and a sister, Madeline Kroll.

Calling hours were held on Sunday, January 23 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Maurice Davis may be given to the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, 141 Corliss Lane, Colebrook, NH 03576.

ANDREW FINK

Andrew Patrick Fink of Salt Lake City, Utah, died on January 16, 2005 after a brief and unexpected illness.

Mr. Fink was born in Hartford, Conn., the son of Paul and Mary Fink. He grew up in Marlborough, Conn., and was graduated in 1962 from Rham High School, where he was known as "the smiling Irish-man."

He served in the Army and later earned a bachelor of science degree in biology, and a master's degree in counseling from Idaho State University.

Mr. Fink first worked as a counselor for troubled youths in Idaho's public school system, and for the Shoshone-Bannock tribes of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. In the 1980s and 1990s, he operated retail clothing stores, and later an Americana folk-art store in Wood-stock, Vt. Most recently, he was a landscape designer and gardener in New Hampshire.

Mr. Fink loved gardening and the outdoors; he was an amateur nature photographer and artist. He created art wherever he found himself, and brought a sense of beauty and style to whatever environments he found. He was especially fond of designing and decorating for the holiday season.

Family members include a son, Erin Fink of Salt Lake City; a granddaughter; two sisters, Gloria Caverley of Little River, S.C., and Pat Czlapinski of Newbury, Vt.; and a brother, Paul Fink of Canaan.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, at Garner Funeral Home in Salt Lake City. The service will be followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Andy's Garden Fund, First Utah Bank, 4900 West 3500 South, West Valley City, UT 84120. The money is for a garden to benefit a local food bank; if enough money is raised, the garden will be named after Mr. Fink.

WILMAN FURGERSON

Wilman Woodbury Furgerson, 90, of Pittsburg, died on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown.

He was born on September 24, 1914 in Clarksville, the son of Victor and Elsie (Kidder) Furgerson. He attended grammar school at the Clarksville School and was graduated from Colebrook Academy, Class of 1933. He was married to the late Bessie A. Heath on October 23, 1937.

Mr. Furgerson drove an oil delivery truck for many years, working for both Lewis Oil and Nugent Oil Company. In 1980 he retired from driving and worked full-time as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Furgerson is survived by two sons, Leonard W. Furgerson of Enfield, Conn., and William E. Furgerson of Longwood, Fla.; two daughters, Priscilla Phillips of Dunbarton, N.H., and Mrs. Tom (Barbara) Salpas of Palmetto, Fla.; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bessie, and by his sister, Una Beauchemin, both in 2004.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery in Stewartstown. Donations in memory of Wilman W. ROGER GOULET

Roger Goulet, 71, of West Stewartstown, died on Sunday evening, January 23, 2005 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital.

Mr. Goulet was born May 21, 1933, in Lawrence, Mass., son of the late Henry Joseph and Clara (Faucher) Goulet.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and following his honorable discharge in 1955, was married to Diane B. (Robichaud) Goulet on October 14, 1956. He worked for several years as a machine operator for the Andrew Wilson sheet metal company of Lawrence, and later worked various jobs tending bar, owning and operating a sandwich shop, plumbing and installing heating ducts.

He and his wife owned and operated the Sunshine Inn, formerly known as the Chicken Hut, in West Stewartstown for five years before turning the restaurant into M & F Supply. He was an active member of the Border Lions Club and the Northland American Legion Post 47 of Canaan.

Mr. Goulet is survived by five children, Lynda Gleason and her husband Michael of Colebrook, Denise Weston and her husband Jeff of Colebrook, Bob Goulet of Methuen, Mass., Lori Joyce and her husband Tom of Windham, N.H., and Bill Goulet and his wife Monica of Birmingham, Ala.; his brother, Joseph H. Goulet and his wife Fern, of Florida and New Hampshire; his sister, Doris Brennan of California; twenty-one grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; his companion, Sadie Guy of West Stewartstown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Goulet is preceded in death by his wife, Diane B. Goulet, on September 2, 2003.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook, with a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home officiated by Ron King.

Expressions of sympathy in Mr. Goulet's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, NH Chapter, 249 Canal Street, Manchester, NH 03101, or to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Hampshire Chapter, PO Box 207, Concord, NH 03302.
