Leo J. Trotochaud
Leo J. Trotochaud, 71, of Windham, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

He was born in New York, New York, moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts at age five where he grew up and attended schools, graduating from Central Catholic High School. He was a resident of Windham for 23 years, and formerly of Methuen, Massachusetts.

Leo was a meat cutter for various Market Baskets in New Hampshire. He was a member of St. Matthew Church in Windham. He enjoyed playing billiards, fishing, golf and basketball. Leo was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame for Central Catholic High School in 1996. The loves of Leo’s life were his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Paul.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alfrieda (O’Brien) Trotochaud of Windham; a son, James and his wife Lisha Trotochaud of Londonderry; a daughter, Linda and her husband Scott Bamford of Chester; two brothers, Robert and his wife Gloria Trotochaud, and David and his wife Sue Trotochaud, all of Connecticut; a sister, Rita and her husband Bill Gregory of Connecticut; a sister-in-law, Judy Trotochaud of Connecticut; five grandchildren, Erica Signor, Kristy and husband Matt Chase, Derek, Taylor, and Luke Trotochaud, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Service was held February 18 at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem. Internment was as the cemetery on the Hill, Windham.

Elizabeth M. (Nestor) Wilder
Elizabeth M. (Nestor) Wilder, 57, of Windham, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at home, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer.

Elizabeth, the daughter of the late Norma B. (Durgin) and James J. Nestor, was born and raised in Winthrop, Massachusetts. She received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Boston University in 1973. For the last 32 years she has lived in Windham with her husband of 34 years, Russell. It was there that the couple built their life and raised their three children.

Elizabeth worked for the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency in the early 1970s where she met Russell. After their marriage, the couple built their home in Windham where she became a devoted mother to her children and their friends. Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, baking, and decorating cakes for those she loved and welcomed into her home. She was an active member of the community as a member of the Windham Garden Club and Co-Director of Volunteers at the Searles Castle for many years. She loved Searles Castle and was dedicated to its restoration and preservation.

She is sadly missed by her husband, Russell J. Wilder of Windham; a son, Daniel J. Wilder of Somerville, Massachusetts; daughters, Stephanie M. Wilder of Melrose, Massachusetts; and Lindsey S. Wilder of Windham; a brother, Thomas and his wife Mary Nestor of Wakefield, Massachusetts; sisters, Kathryn and her husband Robert Holland of Reading, Massachusetts; and Helen L. Pullin of Winthrop, Massachusetts; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held February 19 at the Church of the Transfiguration in Derry. Burial followed in cemetery on the Plain, Windham. Memorial contributions may be made to the Castle Restoration Fund, c/o Sister Josette Parisi, PO Box 4190, Windham, NH 03087. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

Donald M. Boland
Donald M. Boland, 79, of Salem, died February 10, 2008, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.

He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, where he grew up and attended schools and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. He later received an Associates Degree from St. Anselm’s College in Manchester. He was a resident of Salem for the past 57 years.

Mr. Boland was a retired patrolman and prosecutor for the Salem Police Department, where he worked for 40 years. He also worked for Rockingham Honda in Salem. He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. He was a founder and member the Knights of Columbus # 4442, the Bishop Peterson Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was past president of the of the Southern New Hampshire Crime Line, member of the Mass Crime Prevention, past president of the Salem Kiwanis, and a member of the Salem Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Boland was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II and was a member and past 2nd Vice Commander of the AMVETS Post #2 in Salem. He was also an active volunteer in the town of Salem.

Don was predeceased by a daughter, Arlene Boland.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Olga (Gielazauskas) Boland of Salem; a son, Captain Donald J. and his wife Dorothy Boland (USN) of Woodbridge, Virginia; a daughter, Patricia and her husband Richard O’Brien of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; a brother, Frank and his wife Georgette Boland of Lowell; a sister, Blanche Krawczyk of Florida; six grandchildren, D.J. and his wife Kelly Boland of Morgantown, West Virginia, Ensign Adam Boland (USN), Midshipman Brian Boland (USN), Lance Corporal Michael O’Brien, (USMC), Andrew O’Brien, and Colleen O’Brien; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday, February 15 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street in Salem. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 16, at 10 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Salem. Burial will follow in Pine Grove cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the AMVETS, 38 Millville Street, Salem, NH 03079 or to the Knights of Columbus, 37 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079.

Annie L. (Kelley) Boutin
Annie L. (Kelley) Boutin, 82, of Salem, died on Friday, February 8, 2008, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts. Born in Manchester and educated in Greater Boston, she was a self employed housecleaner while her children were adolescents for many area lawyers and the Andover Riding Academy, North Andover, Massachusetts. She later worked for Western Electric and Digital Equipment Corporation (NIO), retiring as a Senior Secretary for the Quality Engineering Department in Salem. After her retirement from DEC she spent several years doing child care from her home.

She learned to decorate cakes for all occasions, creating many wedding cakes for couples in the Merrimack Valley, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York. She earned her Cosmetology License through M. Fazio Institute of Beauty Culture; then worked for her daughter at Kerry Brooke Coiffeurs in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Salem. She was an avid reader of biographies and American history, especially the Civil War era; enjoyed seamstress activities and making afghans for family and friends. She attended and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Salem.

She devoted her life to caring for and spending time with her immediate and extended families and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn E. Boutin, with whom she lived; two sons, John A Boutin and his wife Roberta of Haverhill Massachusetts, and Alfred L. Boutin III and his wife of Salem; five grandchildren, Betty Ann and Patrick Holloran, Michael and Cindy Boutin, Michele Wells, Jacqueline Boutin and Jon Boutin; six great-grandchildren, Erin Holloran, Veronica and Michael Boutin, Ashleigh and Jarrett Wells and Jenna Rose Boutin; a brother, Donald C Kelley of Raymond; a sister, Helen S. Williamson of Cleveland, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Her extended family includes her beloved Anne Marie and Doug MacIssac of Mexico Maine, and Peter, Joan and Joseph Waters of Salem. She is predeceased by her husband. Alfred L. Boutin, Jr., siblings John Kelley, Edward Saul, Bertha Lupo and Dorothy Gross.

Funeral services were held at the First Congregational Church in Salem February 14; burial followed at Pine Grove cemetery, Salem. Donations in her name may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101; the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal Street, Manchester, NH 03101; the First Congregational Church, 15 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH 03079, or The American Morgan Horse Association, 22 Bostwick Road, Shelburne, VT 05482-4417, or a charity of one’s choice. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

William H. Drugan
William H. Drugan, 82, of Hampstead, died Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts.

Bill was born and educated in Burlington, Massachusetts, and had lived in Hampstead for 11 years. He previously lived in Wilmington, Framingham and Harwich, Massachusetts. Bill served in the Air Force during World War II. He retired from MetLife in Wakefield where he was a Sales Manager.

Bill was a member of St. Anne’s Church. He enjoyed music, especially Frank Sinatra, and was an avid Red Sox Fan. Bill loved golf and cars.

He was predeceased by his first his wife, Anne (McNevin) Drugan, and his sister Jessica Murray.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marie (McNevin) Drugan of Hampstead; four sons, Robert Drugan and his wife Anne, Mark Drugan and his wife Andrea, Hank Drugan and his wife Colleen, all of Salem, and Dave Drugan and his wife Paula of Lynnfield, Massachusetts; a daughter, Nancy and her husband Ed Gillis of Ipswich, Massachusetts; five stepsons, John and his wife Kate Morrison of Billerica, Massachusetts, Chuck and his wife Beth Morrison, and Kenny and his wife Emily Morrison all of California, Richard and his wife Kim Morrison of Manchester, and Brian Morrison of Waverly, Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandson.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated February 13 at St. Anne’s Church, Hampstead; burial was in Holy Angels cemetery, Plaistow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fernald League, 200 Trapelo Road, Waltham, MA 02452. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Gannon
Mary A. (Lamothe) Gannon, 69, of North Las Vegas, Nevada, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in a Las Vegas hospital with her family by her side.

Mrs. Gannon was born on September 27, 1938, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Dorothy (Savage) Thomas and the late Robert Lamothe. She was the loving wife of Robert E. Gannon. They would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on February 17, 2008.

A longtime resident of Hudson, Mary and her husband “Bob” settled in Las Vegas after retiring and “running away from home.” The inseparable couple enjoyed exploring the country in their recreational vehicle and managed to visit every continental state, including Alaska during their travels. The couple recently renewed their wedding vows during an international cruise.

Mary was full of love, was an adored wife and caring mother. She loved children and opened her home to many foster children over the years, most notably caring for Manual (Manny) Pimentel, an infant with a heart defect who lived three years longer than doctors expected.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert E. Gannon; her mother Dorothy Lamothe Thomas of Winthrop, Massachusetts; eight children, Jeanne and Thomas Schofield of Litchfield, G. Stephen and Christine Gannon of Litchfield, Maryellen Gannon of Hudson, Shawn Gannon, Robert R. and Stacey Gannon, Deborah Macdonald, Michael and Janet Gannon, and Cheryl Couris, all of Nashua, 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary’s wishes were to be cremated in Las Vegas and her remains will return to New Hampshire for a private service of remembrance with her family and close friends.

Richard F. Geary
Richard F. Geary, 50, of Salem, died February 6, 2008, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts.

He was born in Methuen, grew up and was educated in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence. He was a resident of Salem for the past 25 years.

Mr. Geary was a brick layer for the Teamsters Local Union #3 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. He loved working in his yard and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon M. (Wile) Geary of Salem; his father, Raymond Geary of Rochester; a stepson, Shawn Francoeur of Salem; a stepdaughter, Amy and her husband Tommy Smith of Hawaii; a brother Daniel and his wife Christine Geary of Florida; his mother and father-in-law, Carol and Albert Wile of Haverhill, Massachusetts; a brother-in-law, Albert Wile, Jr., of Hampstead; a sister-in-law, Donna Bookholz of Salem; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Kody and Beau.

A funeral Mass was celebrated February 12 at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. Cremation followed. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy (Mortimer) Reed
Dorothy (Mortimer) Reed, 87, of Nashua, died on February 5, 2008, at the Greenbriar Terrace Health Care Facility in Nashua.

Dorothy was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, on July 6, 1920, daughter of the late David and Edith (Adams) Mortimer. Dorothy was also predeceased by her loving husband, Stanley D. Reed, Sr.; a brother, David Mortimer and a sister, Marion Carter.

Dorothy lived in North Andover, Massachusetts, for many years, and she and Stanley’s love of the mountains drew them to retire in the heart of the White Mountains, to the small town of Freedom. They loved their home that they built themselves and were active in the community.

She loved sewing, knitting and traveling with their camper, including a trip across country. She also loved animals, her dog, Missy, stray cats and feeding the birds.

Dorothy is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley D., Jr., and Tee Seng Reed of Merrimack, and David R. Reed of Nashua; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Wilfred Marceau of Windham; six grandchildren, Brett Marceau of Clinton, Massachusetts, Tracey Ramshaw of Londonderry, Scott Marceau of Hampton, Christopher Reed, Sam Reed and Lian Reed all of Merrimack; six great-grandchildren, Amelia Marceau, Aiden Marceau and Andrew Marceau all of Clinton, Gabriel Ramshaw, Colby Ramshaw and Abigail Ramshaw all of Londonderry.

A Prayer Service was held on February 14 at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson. Burial will be private.

Jeannette M. (Labreche) Sherman
Jeannette M. (Labreche) Sherman, 86, died February 10, 2008, at the Nevins Nursing Centre in Methuen, Massachusetts, after battling Parkinson’s disease for nearly 30 years.

Jeannette was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, and married her high school sweetheart, Roger, after graduating from Somerset High School. Jeannette and Roger were together during Roger’s World War II service in the Navy, his engineering degree work at Durfee Technical College, employment at Oakridge Atomic Power Plant in Tennessee and Grumman Aerospace Development in New York. They moved to Salem in 1969 when Roger started his employment with Sanders Associates Microwave in Manchester.

Jeannette, a busy mother of four children, was a talented artist who worked in both oil and water color mediums. She also enjoyed collecting antiques, cooking, sewing, knitting and braiding and hooking rugs. Jeannette and Roger remained close to their parents and siblings and shared many memorable events and occasions together.

Jeannette developed a successful career in dog grooming while residing in Salem and regretfully retired due to her advancing illness.

Jeannette was a resident of the Nevins Nursing Center for 10 years. Jeannette’s family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to all the staff at the Nevins who cared for her and made a home for her and for the support given to her family during this difficult time. The family also sincerely thanks the Merrimack Valley Hospice for the additional support provided during Jeannette’s last days.

Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Roger Sherman; at long last they will be reunited.

She is survived by her children, Carol Souza, Roger Sherman, and Jane and her husband Peter Morgan, all of Salem, and Frank Sherman of Peabody, Massachusetts; a brother, Arnold Labreche of Somerset, Massachusetts; a sister, Marguerite and her husband Frank Doyle of Kennesaw, Georgia; seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday, February 15, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street in Salem. A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m.; cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Parkinson’s Association, 715 Albany Street, Suite C329, Boston, MA 02118; the Nevins Nursing Center, 10 Ingalls Court, Methuen, MA 01844; or the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.

Alphonse J. Brousseau
Alphonse J. Brousseau, 76, of Salem, died Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where he grew up and attended schools. He was a resident of Salem for the past 46 years, formerly of Methuen, Massachusetts.

Al was a Quality Control Engineer for Raytheon Corporation in Waltham, Massachusetts. He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem and was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Georgiana (Guy) Brousseau of Salem; a son, Richard J. and his wife Donna Brousseau of Salem; a daughter, Michelle M. Brousseau of Salem; a brother, Paul and his wife (Marie) Brousseau of Nashua; two grandchildren, Ryan Brousseau and his fiancée Kristin Barra, and Ashley Brousseau; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated February 6 at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. Burial followed in Pine Grove cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to the, American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.
