Joann (Gove) Seaman
Joann (Gove) Seaman, 75, of 6 Watts Circle, Hudson, died at her home on Monday February 16, 2004.

She was born in Nashua on November 25, 1928, a daughter of the late Lester E. and Ethel Mae (Forbes) Gove. She had resided in Hudson for the greater part of her life.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by Centronics and the former Sanders Associates.

Mrs. Seaman enjoyed bingo, playing softball, bowling, and traveling. In her many travel experiences she tried many activities including parasailing and scuba diving, to name a few. She water-skied until age 60.

She had attended The First Baptist Church of Hudson.

Mrs. Seaman was predeceased by a brother, Lester Gove.

Survivors include: four daughters, Sandra Bertrand and her husband James of Gilmanton, New Hampshire; Kathleen Seaman and Wayne Bernard of Milford; Robin Faulkner of Nashua; and Lisa Foley of Hudson; a son Daniel Seaman of Hudson; ten grandchildren, Adam Faulkner, Tyler Lorman, Ashley Lorman, and Brian Lorman, all of Nashua, Patrick Foley, Bryan Foley, and Julian Bush, all of Hudson, Joel Seaman of Hollis, Melanie Seaman of Milford and Jamie Bertrand of Gilmanton; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Faulkner of Nashua; a brother and two sisters-in-law Charles Forbes Gove and his wife Jane of Gilmantan and Rita Gove of Hudson; and her former husband William R. Seaman of Nashua.

The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of the arrangements.

Annette Rose (Cassista) Smith
Annette R. (Cassista) Smith, 88, of Harris Road, Nashua and formerly of Lorraine Street, Hudson, died on Monday, February 2, 2004 at the Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare.

Mrs. Smith was born in Nashua on February 15, 1915, a daughter of the late Louis and Virginie (Plourde) Cassista. She was the widow of Edward H. Smith who died December 5, 1996.

She had been a lifelong resident of Nashua and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Mrs. Smith is survived by; one son and daughter-in-law; Ronald E. and Young Smith of Killeen, TX; two daughters and sons-in-law; Betty Ann and Richard May of Odenton, MD and Carol Ann and Dana Howland of Fairhaven, MA; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a stepsister; Camille Boisseau of Nashua; also, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. The Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia B. (Billingsley) Smith
Virginia B. (Billingsley) Smith, LPN, 89, of 203 Lowell Road, Hudson died on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

She was born in Burlington, Vermont on January 10, 1915, a daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Cross) Billingsley. She had been a resident of Hudson since 1934. An active member of the community she worked at numerous capacities during numerous elections.

She was the widow of Raymond Frederick Smith who died March 25, 1998.

At one time, Mrs. Smith was a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and Nashua Memorial Hospital. She also worked part-time at the former Nashua Trust for many years.

Mrs. Smith was the treasurer for the Licensed Practical Nurse Association. She was also past president of Hudson Fortnightly.

Mrs. Smith was an accomplished organist and played at the Davis Funeral Home and the Alvirne Chapel in Hudson. She also organized and directed the Joyful Notes singing group.

She was a graduate of Jaffrey High School and attended nursing school.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Howard Young of Hudson and Joyce Cloutier Notides and Chris Notides of Hudson; four grandchildren, Diane (Young) Carden and her husband David of Delaware; Jay Cloutier and his wife Laura of Illinois; Jana (Cloutier) Protzman and her husband Todd of Vermont; and Joshua Cloutier of Rhode Island; eight great-grandchildren, Devin Carden of Delaware; Danielle Carden of Delaware; Ronnie Cloutier of Illinois; Jacob Cloutier of Illinois; Andres Cloutier of Illinois; Abigail Cloutier of Illinois; Daniel Jordan of Vermont, and Logan Andrew Protzman of Vermont; two nieces, Ann Brooke Smith, Sandra Hayes and her husband James of Hudson; a nephew, Craig Smith and his wife Emily Coble of North Carolina.

Arrangements are in the care of Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua.

Jean May Townsend
Jean May Townsend, 57 of Old Lantern Road, Bedford, New Hampshire died Friday, March 5, 2004 at her home.

Born June 13, 1946 in London, England, she was the daughter of Elsie (Crane) Townsend, of Hooksett and the late Frank Townsend.

At one time, Mrs. Townsend was Vice President at Peterborough Savings Bank and prior to that she was a manager at Bedford Bank. She was most recently employed at Triangle Credit Union in Amherst. She was a member of Financial Women International.

Besides her mother, survivors include: her husband, William St. Onge of Bedford; also two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sarah and Michael Navarra, of Coral Springs, Florida and Michelle and Michael Myers, of Morganville, New Jersey; also, one sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and John Aldridge of England, as well as five grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Townsend’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangement.

Patricia A. Truax
Patricia A. Truax, of Douglas Avenue, North Providence, died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born June 2, 1936, in Westerly, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of Norbert Holland, Sr. and Janice (Roode) Lynch. She was educated in Westerly schools and studied art in college. She married Anthony Truax in 1959, and together with him raised three children, built a business, and kept a home in Litchfield, New Hampshire. She made a career for many years as a bookkeeper. More recently she returned to Rhode Island making a home in North Providence while working for the US Postal Service and traveling whenever possible.

She will be greatly missed by many friends and relatives, but most of all by her companion, Al Sauriol, her children, Will and Lesley Truax of Center Barnstead, New Hampshire, Tammi Truax of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Cheryl Murphy of Ballston Spa, New York, and her greatest pride and joy; her six grandchildren, PFC. BJ and Taryn Murphy, Skyler and Dylan Truax, and Spence and Grace Gordon.

Internment will take place at Riverbend cemetery at Westerly, RI.

Harvey O. “Joe” Vaillancourt
Harvey O. “Joe” Vaillancourt, 76 of Bush Hill Road, Hudson, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born February 17, 1928, in Nashua, he was the son of the late Alfred and Eva (Guichard) Vaillancourt. He was raised in Nashua. He was predeceased by one sister, Madaline Gero, and three brothers, Louis, Wilfred, and “Lefty” Vaillancourt.

He was the husband of Yvette (Cloutier) Vaillancourt of Hudson with whom he had been married for 55 years.

At one time, Mr. Vaillancourt worked at J. F. McElwain Shoe Co. for 20 years. Upon his retirement from J. F. McElwain, he became a contractor who built homes in the Hudson and Nashua area. After retiring from the contracting business, he worked as a caretaker at St. Kathryn Parish in Hudson for 27 years.

Mr. Vaillancourt served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Hudson American Legion, Post #48. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathleen Vaillancourt of Hudson. Also one brother and sister-in-law, Rosaire and Lorraine Vaillancourt of Nashua. Also five other brothers-in-law and four other sisters-in-law, Raymond and Julie Cloutier of Hudson, Kenneth and Lorraine Cloutier of Florida, John and Laurel Lincoln of Hudson, Anita Hajj, Roland Cloutier and Norma Cloutier, both of Hudson. Also two grandsons, William “Bill” Dennis Vaillancourt and Brian Joseph Vaillancourt, both of Hudson as well as several nieces and nephews.

The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, Hudson, is in charge of arrangements.

Luigi F. Vallone
Luigi Vallone, 88, of Riverview Circle, Litchfield died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

He was born April 7, 1915 in Pico, Italy, son of the late Angelo and Antonia (Conti) Vallone.

Mr. Vallone was the widower of Ruth (Pearson) Vallone, to whom he had been married for 64 years, prior to her death in April of 2003.

He is also predeceased by a brother, Lucio Vallone.

Mr. Vallone came to America with his mother when he was 13 years old and has always been a truly proud American.

He worked at United Shoe Machinery Corp in Beverly MA until his retirement. In his younger years he was very active in politics.

Mr. Vallone was a former member of the ICC in Beverly, MA, as well as an Auxiliary member of the Beverly Police Force.

He often traveled to Italy to visit family and loved food and Opera music. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying both freshwater and ice fishing.

Mr. Vallone was formerly a breeder of greyhounds and he loved his dog. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Survivors include: one son and one daughter-in-law, Francis Angelo and Wilma Vallone of Knoxville, TN; six daughters and six sons-in-law, Antoinette and Joseph Paulin of Bartlet, New Hampshire, Louise and Robert Henderson of Glen, New Hampshire, Anna Marie and John Cram of Litchfield, New Hampshire Christine and Steven Hadley of Salem, MA, Lucia and Anthony Picanso of Rowley, MA, Alexendra and Guy T. Bellino of Auburn, New Hampshire; one sister-in-law, Joan Vallone of Beverly, MA; 22 Grandchildren; 34 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; also several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen (Johnson) Amorelli
Kathleen (Johnson) Amorelli, 51, of Grace Drive Hudson, died Monday, September 20 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

She was the daughter of William Johnson of Lawrence, Massachusetts and the late Mary (Waugh) (Johnson) Houle.

Mrs. Amorelli was the wife of Michael Amorelli of Grace Drive, Hudson.

She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangalist church in Hudson

Mrs. Amorelli received an Associates Degree from Castle College as well as a Bachelors Degree from Rivier College. She was licensed Guardian Ad Litem and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains, beaches, and various cities. She loved spending time with her family and her greatest joy was being around her two grandchildren.

Besides her loving husband Michael, survivors include: two daughters and a son in law, Tracy and Joseph Alves of Merrimack, and Elizabeth Amorelli of Nashua; two granddaughters, Drew and Julia Alves, both of Merrimack; her father and his wife, William and Alice Johnson of Lawrence Massachusetts; as well as many dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library St. on Friday, September, 24 at 10:00 a.m. All are invited to meet at church. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Nashua. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

John M. Bednar
John M. Bednar, 91, of Ferry Street, Hudson, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Charles and Suzanne (Wajtek) Bednar. He was the widower of Agnes P. (Greene) Bednar.

Mr. Bednar received a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting and pre-law in 1941 from New York University. He worked at General Electric in Bridgeport, Connecticut and in 1954 retired from GE in Lowell, Massachusetts. He came to Hudson in 1949 and started Pine Acres Restaurant. He represented the Town of Hudson as a State Representative for 16 years and was known as the father of the right to know law. He served as a Town of Hudson Selectman for 12 years, a Town Councilor for four years, along with being on the Sewer Utility Committee or eight years and was a moderator for both the Town and the School District. He also served as a cemetery Trustee and a Supervisor of the Checklist and was on the Charter Study Commission and Budget Committee. John was also a past vice president of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was active in town and state government for over 50 years. He started the Hudson Tax Payers Association in 1956, which is now known as the Hudson Property Owners Association. He was a communicant of St. Kathryn Church and a member of the Hudson Seniors.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. John R. Bednar and his wife Kathleen of Marblehead, Massachusetts; two daughters, Patricia Phaneuf of Manchester and Suzanne Bednar of Hartford, Connecticut; a sister Beatrice Salerno of Wolcott, Connecticut, six grandchildren, Chris, Kathy, Cara, Julie Bednar all of Marblehead, Massachusetts; and Lisa Bourric of Manchester and Holly Phaneuf of Nashua. Also two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Nelson and Samantha Bourric, both of Manchester.

The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, Hudson, is in charge of arrangements.
