Edgar O. Larrivee

PORTSMOUTH - Edgar O. Larrivee, 75, of 188 Jones Ave., died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born July 28, 1924, in Laconia, N.H., he was the son of Philip and Maria (Simoneau) Larrivee.

He retired from the Army as a sergeant first class in 1971 with 28 years of service. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement, he was employed by the Portsmouth School Department as a custodian until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of VFW Post No. 168, American Legion Post No. 6 and Elks Lodge No. 97.

He was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

He was the husband of the late Liselotte "Lilo" Larrivee. She died in 1989.

He is survived by a daughter, Maria-Louise Westgate of Portsmouth, two sons, Edgar N. Larrivee of Newton, N.H.; and Peter Windmuller of Kentucky; five grandchildren, Shannon Carlson, Sarah Windmuller, Taylor Leigh Larrivee, Michael Westgate and Stephen Westgate; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanche Larrivee of Portsmouth; a brother, Normand Larrivee of Portsmouth; and a nephew, Mark Larrivee.

Lucy N. Hardy

WEST LEBANON, Maine - Lucy Nancy Hardy, 80, of 685 Kennebec Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Born Jan. 27, 1919, in New Bedford, Mass., she was the daughter of Luigi and Virginia (Furlani) Gentili. She was a resident of Portsmouth for many years before moving to West Lebanon.

She was employed for years at the former Continental Shoe Shop in Portsmouth. She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Portsmouth. She was a member of the Sons of Italy in Milton.

She was the wife of the late Adrian Hardy.

She is survived by a son, Louis Hardy and his wife, Ilse, of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Lucy Miller, Diane Hardy, and Tammy Hardy-Sullivan, and her husband, Tim; a great-granddaughter, Briana Sullivan; a brother, Alberto Gentili of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Anna Gentili of Portsmouth; special friend Dennis Dupuis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Secondo Gentile.

Violet D. Hanlon

PORTSMOUTH - Violet Dulac Hanlon, 85, formerly of 220 Crescent Way, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at Sunbridge Health Center in Portsmouth.

Born Feb. 7, 1914, in Waterville, Maine, she was the daughter of Arthur and Victoria (Lessard) Loubier. She was a resident of Portsmouth since 1940.

She was employed for many years as a clerk at the former W.T. Grant Company on Congress Street.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and its Womens Club.

She was the wife of Francis A. Hanlon.

Survivors include three daughters, Rachel Evilsizer of Dresden, Ohio, Marlene Reilly of Eliot, and Nancy Tobin of Newmarket; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Jacqueline L. Wade

PORTSMOUTH - Jacqueline Lillian (Brand) Wade, 59, of 816 Middle Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at her home.

Born June 11, 1940, in Woonsocket, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Douglas M. and Pauline L. (Sevigny) Brand. She attended various schools as a child and spent her high school years studying in Naples, Italy. She returned to the United States in 1957, graduating from Portsmouth High School that year. She continued her education at the University of New Hampshire.

She was a loving mother who enjoyed painting, reading, cooking, and traveling. She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Portsmouth. She was an enthusiastic volunteer who worked in the soup kitchens.

She was the wife of S. Dwayne Wade for 40 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Monette M. (Mrs. Paul) Galello of Chelmsford, Mass.; four sons, David D. and his wife, Maureen, of Newmarket, Scott of Portsmouth, Ted and his wife, Meredith, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Douglas P. and his wife, Kristine, of Portsmouth; two brothers, Douglas Brand of Seabrook, and Robert Brand and his wife, Karen, of Hampton; two sisters, Gloria Desrochers of Rowley, Mass., and Robin (Mrs. Robert) White of Worcester, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Marguerite DeAngelis

BELLEVILLE, N.J. - Marguerite DeAngelis, 64, formerly of Berlin, N.J., passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at her home after a brief period of illness.

Born Oct. 25, 1934, in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Anne Marie Arguin. She was a 1952 graduate of Notre Dame High School. After leaving Berlin, she made her home in Newark, N.J., and later moved to Belleville.

She was employed as the manager of a Newark Credit Union.

She is survived by three sons, Pat of Yardville, N.J., Joseph of West Caldwell, N.J., and Steven of Toms River, N.J.; three daughters, Valerie Monte Bell of Alta Loma, Calif., Yvonne Olivari of Nutley, N.J., and Bernadette Vassilatos of Harrison, N.J.; two brothers, Armand Arguin of Berlin, and Ben Arguin of Hampton,; 10 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral arrangements are being made in Nutley, N.J., where they will be held.

James E. Amee

YORK HARBOR - James Eliot Amee, 93, formerly of Cutts Road, Kittery, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at the Harbor Home of York Harbor after a long period of illness.

Born May 29, 1906, in Kittery Point, he was the son of James P. and Grace (Hoyt) Amee, and attended local schools.

Trained as a pattern maker, he was employed for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He also owned and operated the Sunny Acres Poultry Farm in Greenland for more than 20 years. He was also an active member of the Portsmouth Country Club.

He was the husband of the late Lillian Rose, who died in 1994. They were married for 64 years.

He is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Blackwood of Rollinsford, N.H., Mrs. Bernard (Barbara) Coit of Freedom, N.H., and Mrs. James (Nancy) Hague of Rye; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Florence E. Graves

NORTH HAMPTON - Florence E. Graves, 84, of 22 Post Road, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at Exeter Healthcare.

Born March 10, 1915, in North Hampton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Isabella J. (White) Whenal.

A longtime resident of North Hampton, she was a graduate of Centennial Hall School and attended Hampton Academy. She lived in Hampton for 19 years before returning to North Hampton.

She worked at the former Tobey Drug Store, and also Colts News Stand in Hampton.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ and Ladies Aid of the Church. She was also a member of the North Hampton Historical Society and the Hampton Academy Alumni Association.

She was the wife of Thomas H. Graves for 64 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Malcolm J. Graves of Portland, Maine, and Lloyd T. Graves of Boston and North Hampton;three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Helen F. Schrock; and three brothers, Harry, George, and William Whenal.

JoAnne R. Schaub

RYE - JoAnne R. Schaub, 65, of 10 Appledore Ave., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born July 21, 1934, in Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of Elton and Roselind (Ouellette) Young and had been a resident of Rye since 1963.

She was an active member of St. James Church in Portsmouth and a member of the Couples Club. She was also a member of the Third Friday Club in Rye.

She was the wife of David A. Schaub for 46 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Jerome A. Schaub of Venice Beach, Calif.; Philip D. Schaub of Orlando, Fla.; and Scott M. Schaub of Suffield, Conn.; two daughters, Laura L. Downey of Indianapolis, and Diana M. Ormandy of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren who she loved dearly; a brother, Philip Young of Greenville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

John Kastberg

PITTSFIELD, Maine. - John Kastberg, 43, of Eliot, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, in Pittsfield.

Born Nov. 27, 1955, in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of William and Sylvia (Howe) Kastberg.

For the past three years, he was employed as a bridge supervisor for George Cairns & Son in Methuen, Mass.

In his earlier years, he was involved with the Beagle Club. More recently, he enjoyed going to car shows and collecting automobile memorabilia.

He was the husband of Kathy Kastberg of Kittery.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Shannon Kastberg of Eliot, Isaac Kastberg of Kittery, and Alexander Kastberg of Kittery; a brother, James Kastberg of Sanford; three sisters, Linda Pieper of Rockland, Maine.; Constance Kastberg of South Lebanon, Maine, and Catherine Lizotte of Bowdoin, Maine; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marie A. Gould

ROCHESTER - Marie Ann (Perreault) Gould, 66, of Gooseberry Circle, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at her residence.

Born Feb. 12, 1933, in Amesbury, Mass., she was the daughter of Ernest and Maria (LaGasse) Perreault. She was a resident of Rochester for the past five years and previously had been a resident of Dover for more than 25 years.

She had an associate's degree in business and was employed as a bookkeeper with Downeast Drilling.

She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include a son, Dwayne A. Gould, formerly of Dover; two daughters, Ginger S. Gould of Dover, and Linda M. Gould of Leominster, Mass.; five brothers, Omer Perreault of Hampton, Francis Perreault of South Hampton; and Paul, Alfred and Robert Perreault, all of Amesbury, Mass.; three sisters, Yvonne Morris of Richmond, Va., Marguerite Hagen of Merrimac, Mass., and Anna Loiselle of Amesbury.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Perreault of Arizona and Andre Perreault of Amesbury; and four sisters, Theresa Hamilton of Hampton, Jean Barbaro of Dover, Rita Loiselle of Salisbury, Mass., and Lena Landry of Seabrook.

Francis H. Hett

ELIOT - Francis H. Hett, 82, of 3 Staples St., died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at Harbor Home in York.

Born June 27, 1917, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Harold and Ethel (Smith) Hett and was a graduate of Portsmouth High School.

Mr. Hett served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was formerly employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for more than 30 years, retiring in 1982 as a planner estimator.

Marion L. Flynn

WEIRSDALE, FLA. - Marion L. Flynn, 83, formerly of 415 Union Ave., Portsmouth, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999 at her residence in Florida.

Born in Eliot, Maine on Sept. 12, 1915, she was the daughter of Henry C. and Marie (Vondal) Linscott and attended local schools.

During the war, she worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. She also worked at Tobers Clothing Store in Portsmouth, which later turned into Kimballs Department Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Portsmouth.

She was the wife of the late George F. Flynn.

Survivors include a son, Russell P. Tully, of Portsmouth; a brother, Nelson Linscott of Kittery; sisters Mildred Alessi of Portsmouth, Thelma "Tootie" LaClair of Kittery; three granddaughters, Delores Fischels of Norwich, Conn., Brenda Boudreau of Rochester, and Lisa Seward, also of Rochester. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Albert, Clifton and Reginald.
