Donovan, Ann

Ann M. Donovan, formerly of 27 Prospect St., Somersworth, N.H., died at The Village House Nursing Home, Newport, R.I. on Nov. 11, 2006.

She had been a resident of R.I. since 2002.

She was born in Somersworth in 1916, daughter of James Flanagan and Anne Morin.

She attended Somersworth schools, graduating from Somersworth High School, Class of 1933, and attended McIntosh College.

She had been employed by the Somersworth Police Department, Graves Florist and the Somersworth Middle School.

Her first husband, William Bohan, passed away in July 1944.

Her second husband, Herbert A. Donovan, passed away in May of 1984.

She spent many happy days during the summer with her family and her grandchildren at Wells Beach, Maine.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Dr. Donald J. Flanagan, Gerald E. Flanagan and Jerome F. Flanagan.

She is survived by a daughter, Lorna Kirkpatrick Forgit and her husband, Roy, of Portsmouth, R.I., and a son, J. Michael Donovan, and his wife, Eleanor, of St. Johnsbury, Vt. In addition, she leaves two granddaughters and four grandsons.

They are Jennifer Kirkpatrick King and her husband, Brian, of Jamaica Plain, Mass., Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Mosier and her husband, Jonathan, of Maynard, Mass., James Donovan and his wife, Amanda, of Beverly, Mass., Patrick Donovan and his wife, Nini, of Newton, Mass., Jeremy Donovan and his wife, Jessica, of New Haven, Conn., and Christopher Donovan, a student at University of Vermont, Burlington.

She leaves one sister, Mrs. Claire Papatones, wife of Alexander "Pap" Papatones of Somersworth, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of the Word Service will be held Saturday, Nov. 25 at Holy Trinity Church, 404 High St., Somersworth, with a gathering of family and friends will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Somersworth.

Arrangements are in charge of Roberge Funeral Home of Somersworth.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Assn. 10 Ferry St. Concord, NH 03101.

Gagne, Charlotte

Charlotte H. Gagne, Somersworth, New Hampshire, passed away on Thursday, February 08, 2007.

Born February 14, 1926, in Frankfurt, Germany, she was the daughter of Josephine (Veith) and Ludwig Fuller.

She was a member of the Rollinsford Garden Club and the Somersworth Womens Club, and was a communicant of Hope Community Church, Dover, New Hampshire.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Gagne, in 1990 and her grandson, Jason Gagne, in 2006.

She is survived by three daughters, Josephine A. Fraser and husband Lee, of Waltham, MA; Rosemary H. Finn and husband Bill, of Hopkinton, MA; and Jeanette Charlotte Gagne, of Somersworth, NH; one son, James P. Gagne and wife Nancy, of Medford, MA; five grandchildren, Gerard P. Gagne, of Somersworth, NH; Maximilian O. Dowd and his future bride Jennifer, of Ashland, MA; Tanya Rose Taylor, of Hopkinton, MA, Stephanie Gagne and her husband, Jason Rizzo, of Sharon, MA; James Gagne and his wife Amy, and their two children Randi Lynn & James P. Gagne, of Millis, MA, a brother, Hans Fuller and his family, all of Frankfurt, Germany.

With love and blessings to Ruth and George Harris, of Dover, New Hampshire, friends forever, and a special note of love and appreciation to Bill and Polly Clemens and Alta and Wes Varney, the very best neighbors and friends, and to Joyce Croteau, of Berwick, Maine, a kind and loving friend.

I love you all and you made my life the very best!

To my neighbors at Colonial Village, thank you for all of your kindness and help.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 o’clock at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue, Dover New Hampshire, the Pastor Steve Spearing, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Hope Community Church, 197 Sixth Street, Dover, New Hampshire 03820, of Voice for Animals, RR 1, Box 389, Farmington, NH 03835.

Brunelle, Leon

Leon Brewster Brunelle, 88, formerly of High St, died on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at the Dover Rehabilitation Center in Dover, NH.

He was born on April 16, 1918 in Dover, NH; the son of Ernest L. and Hazel H. (Brewster) Brunelle.

He worked as a weaver at both the Beckwirth and Shevenell shoe companies of Dover.

The job that he took the most pride and enjoyment in throughout his life was the years he was employed as a weaver and loom-fixer for the Massachusetts Mohair Plush Co. of Rollinsford, NH.

He enjoyed woodworking, pencil drawing, amateur short-wave radio and was an avid lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara Brunelle of Somersworth; his brother, Andre Brunelle of Rollinsford; two nieces and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, one hour prior to the funeral service.

A funeral service will be held at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home 655 Central Ave, Dover at 1:00pm on Tuesday February13, 2007 with the Rev. Mark Monson Alley of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Dover, officiating.

Internment will be at the Forest Glade Cemetery in the spring of 2007.

Family flowers only requested, memorial contributions may be made to the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Building Fund, 789 Central Ave, Dover, NH. 03820.

Gadomski, Chester

Chester Joseph Gadomski, Jr., “Sonny”, 62, of High Street, died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover after a period of failing health.

He was born on May 16, 1944 in Lawrence, MA; the son of Chester J. Sr., and Stashia (Godzik) Gadomski.

He enjoyed the time he had with his late wife, Wilma, traveling the country in their RV.

He loved being with his grandkids and the quality time he spent fishing, with his son, Michael.

He is survived by his son, Michael M. Gadomski and his wife, Jacqueline of Berwick, ME; his sister, Joanne D. Grazia of Methuen, MA; his two grandsons, Jacob M and Walker K.

He was predeceased by his wife, of 34 years, Wilma (Ryder) Gadomski in July of 2005.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Seacoast Cancer Research Center, c/o Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, 789 Central Ave., Dover, NH, 03820.

Friends and family may call from 4-7:00 pm on Thurs., Feb. 15, 2007 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Fri., Feb 16, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Church, 150 Central Ave., Dover, NH, with Rev. Damien Ledoux, officiating.

Lucier, Yvonne

Yvonne Lucier 92, formerly of 206 Main Street, died Thursday February 15, 2007 at The Riverside Rest Home in Dover after a period of declining health.

Yvonne was born on June 9, 1914 in Northbridge, MA and was the daughter of John and Marie Louise (Labbe) Larochelle.

She was raised in Canada attending schools in that country.

After High School, Yvonne became a nun and entered the Community of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and took the name of Sister Marie Theresa.

She eventually returned to the United States and was assigned in Newmarket, NH.

In Newmarket she taught 2nd grade and also was the cook for the community.

It was her coming to Somersworth in 1942 where she left the order and eventually married her husband Alpha Lucier.

Yvonne had been with the Community of Sisters for twelve years.

After her marriage, she had worked in several area shoe shops including, Roberts, Rollinsford and Somersworth, Shoe Company.

Yvonne was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church, where she was very active, She was a member of the Ladies Guild and served for many years on the Breakfast Committee.

She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 69 of Somersworth.

Family members include her two sons, Donald Lucier of Rochester and Raymond Lucier and his wife Rebecca of Colorado Springs, CO; two step grandchildren, Amanda and Emily. Yvonne was one of 13 children; one sister, Leda Cust of Morinville, Alberta Canada, several nephews, nieces and cousins, survives her.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00AM in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High and Maple Streets, with Rev. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Martin Catholic Church.

Martel, Elizabeth

Elizabeth G. Martel, 82, formerly of 216 Sherwood Glen and 1 Pearl Street, died Friday February 16, 2007 at The Riverside Rest Home, Dover after a period of declining health.

Elizabeth was born on November 16, 1924 in Providence, RI and was the daughter of Stanford and Ethel (Stone) Nantais.

Before her retirement she had been employed as an assembler with Davidson Rubber Co.

Family members include her sons, Wayne Martel of Dover and David Martel and his wife Wilma of Rochester.

She also leaves her daughters, Jean Nobert and her husband Paul of Arundel, ME, Beatrice Turgeon and her husband Joseph of Somersworth and Carolyn Croft and her husband Richard of Brookfield, NH.

She also leaves a brother Richard Nantais of Carver, MA. 11 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother Charles Nantais and by her sister, Helen Janis. Her husband Wilfred J. Martel predeceased her in 1993.

No services are planned at this time.

Burial will be in the spring in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover, NH.

The Bernier Funeral Home 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Eschmann, Anita

Anita Eschmann, 80, of 72 B Washington St. died Friday Feb. 16, 2007 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH

Anita was born in Somersworth, March 7, 1986 the daughter of Frank and Georgianna (Lessard) Dupuis.

She was a graduate of St. Martin’s Academy and at the age of 15, Anita went to work at Somersworth Wood Heel to help support her siblings.

Later she worked at Siegel’s and Sawyer Mills.

Anita enjoyed listening to Danny O’Donnell and big band music and playing cribbage and scat with her husband of 49 years, Hervey Eschmann, who predeceased her on January 25, 1996.

She had a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh.

She had many wonderful stories of growing up in a large French Catholic family whose lineage came from Canada and she did not learn to speak English until entering St. Martin's Academy.

She was a very sacrificing woman who always kept her family close at heart.

She loved to crochet and most of all she loved to be a mother.

Anita was 1 of 11 children.

She was predeceased by 3 brothers Roland, Raymond and Robert Dupuis and 2 sisters Rita Doyon and Rachel Duprey.

Survivors include 3 sons Daniel Eschmann and his wife Gail of Old Orchard Beach, ME.; Randolph Eschmann and his wife Cheryl of Somersworth; and Thomas Eschmann and his companion Lynn Rousseau of Lee, NH; a daughter Kathryn Giberson and her husband Dave of Rochester; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 Brothers Rudolph Dupuis of Fl., Richmond Dupuis and Reneaud Dupuis both of Somersworth, and Ronald Dupuis of Attleboro, MA.; one Sister Lorraine Normand of Somersworth; nieces and nephews

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 PM at the Roberge Funeral Home, 298 High St. Somersworth, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Tuesday at Holy Trinity Church Somersworth, NH with Fr. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor, as Celebrant.

Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery in the spring.

Memorials may be made to the Rochester VNA.

Poirier, Magella

Magella Poirier, known by many as Doris, formerly of 83B High St. died Friday Feb. 23, 2007 at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Rochester.

Doris was born Sept. 19, 1913 in Comte de Megantic, PQ, Canada, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Baril) Tourigny.

She was educated in Canada and move to the United Stated in her early 20’s.

Doris first worked in area woolen mills and later at Davidson Rubber Co. retiring in 1975.

Doris was dedicated to her family and friends, enjoyed traveling and going to the beach and was an avid reader.

She was a Communicant of St. Martin Church.

Doris was the widow of Armand Poirier who died in 1975.

She was also predeceased by a daughter Jacqueline Doiron who died in 2003, a grandson Rene O’Neil in 2000, a great-grandson Eric Luciano who died in 2004, a brother and 6 sisters.

Survivors include a daughter Priscilla Dube of Berwick, ME., 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call Tuesday, February 27, 2007 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Roberge Funeral Home, 298 High St., Somersworth, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon at St. Martin Church with Fr. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor, as Celebrant.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to NH SPCA P.O., Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.

Gaudette, Gary

Gary D. Gaudette, 54, of 10 Ellswick St., Somersworth, NH, died peacefully Sat. Feb. 24, 2007 at home in the arms of his loving wife following a courageous battle with cancer.

Gary was born Dec. 5, 1952 in Dover, NH, the son of Henry and Flossie (Riff) Gaudette.

He was educated in Somersworth Schools and received his GED in 2001.

He had been employed with the Somersworth Public Works Department for 34+ years, retiring in January 2004 because of his health.

Gary enjoyed the outdoors and you could always find him putting around in his garage or doing yard work.

He was an avid hunter up until the last 10 years.

He was also an avid race car fan and built and raced stock cars most of his life.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

He was a Communicant of Holy Trinity Church.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Donnalyn (Couture) Gaudette of Somersworth and his loving family, which brought him so much pride and joy, including his 3 daughters Tanya Burke and her husband David of Northwood, NH, Lisa Tibbetts and her husband Randy of Berwick, ME, and Kristie Gaudette and her fiance Jeff Norton of East Rochester, NH., 2 granddaughters Brianna Burke and Skylah Tibbetts, a very special great nephew Cain McIntyre of Somersworth, NH, a brother Terry Gaudette of Sanford, ME., 4 sisters Brenda Labrecque of Berwick, ME., Betty Skibicki of Rochester, NH, Linda Paul of Somersworth, NH and Bonnie Laskey of Rochester, NH, a sister in-law Shirley Gaudette of Berwick, ME, and many nieces and nephews.

He was prededeceased by his parents Henry and Flossie (Riff) Gaudette, one brother Herbert "Mike" Gaudette, and 2 sisters, Florence "Dede" Bubar and Marie Swett.

Family and friends may call Saturday, Mar. 3, 2007 at Holy Trinity Church from 10 to 11 AM for a celebration of Gary's life, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Church, 404 High St., Somersworth with Fr. Aaron Pfaff, Pastor, as Celebrant with a luncheon to follow.
