Marion A. Mellin

EXETER - Marion A. Mellin, 88, of Hampton Road, died February 25, 2002, after a brief illness.

She was born April 23, 1913, in Nashua, the daughter of Alfred and Clophee (Labreque) Hebert. She resided in Nashua for 55 years moving to Exeter in 1999 to be near her family.

Mrs. Mellin was employed by Sprague Electric Co. for many years.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Nashua,

She enjoyed sewing and painting.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Mellin of Langdon Place, Exeter; one son, Douglas Mellin of Exeter; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by seven siblings.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front St., Exeter.

Nancy I. Dempsey

FRANKLIN, Mass. - Nancy I. (Haggerty) Dempsey, 71, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at the Stanley Tippet Home, Needham, Mass., of merkel cell carcinoma.

She was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Irene (Fiedler) Haggerty. She was raised in Hampton and had lived in Franklin since 1957.

She was a 1947 graduate of Hampton Academy and a 1952 graduate of Boston College School of Nursing.

Mrs. Dempsey was a nurse at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, for several years.

The widow of Gilbert O. Dempsey, who died in 2000, she is survived by four sons, Andrew J. Dempsey of Malden, Mass., Matthew J. Dempsey of Mount Prospect, Ill., Terrence J. Dempsey of Moultonboro, and Martin P. Dempsey of Phoenix; one daughter, Mary Anne Poinsatte of Hixson, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas L. Haggerty Jr. of North Hampton.

She was predeceased by one grandchild, Andrew Dempsey.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary Church, Church Square, Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stanley Tippet Home, 920 South St., Needham, MA 02492.

David N. Welch

CONCORD - David N. Welch, 28, died Monday, April 8, 2002, in Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, after a lengthy illness.

He was born April 11, 1973, in Exeter, the son of Neal and Inez (Smith) Welch of Raymond, and was raised in Raymond.

He was a 1991 graduate of Raymond High School where he played baseball and basketball, and a 1993 graduate of Stratham Technical College with a degree in drafting.

Mr. Welch was a computer draftsman at Meggitt Avionics or five years.

He was an avid fly fisherman and an accomplished fly tier. He enjoyed golf, hiking, skiing and mountain biking. He played in men's basketball and hockey leagues and had a brown belt in Karate. He enjoyed nature and animals.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 11 1/2 years, Melynie (West) Welch of Concord; one sister, Alison LaCasse of Raymond; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Raymond Congregational Church, on the Common, Raymond, with the Rev. Neil Iverson officiating. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Patients and Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Cynthia Medeiros, LICSW, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 495 Old Connecticut Path, Framingham, MA 01701.

Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond.

Kathleen E. Graves

EPPING - Memorial services for Kathleen E. Graves, who died December 29, 2001, will be held May 4, 2002, at 11 a.m. in Epping Community Church, Epping. A reception will be held following the service.

Robert O'Neill Sr.

MELROSE, Mass. - Robert "Bob" O'Neill Sr., 74, a summer resident of Hampton, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a sudden illness.

He was born in May 29, 1927, in Medford, Mass., the son of the late Marie Antoinette (Biron) O'Neill, had resided in Melrose for 47 years and summered in Hampton for 38 years.

He attended Medford schools and was a graduate of Medford High School, attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy and was a 1952 magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. O'Neill owned and operated Columbia Equipment Co., and McGurik Electronics, semidonductor manufacturing companies. He had previously been an engineer for Sylvia Electric for 20 years. With his wife he owned and operated O'Neill Cottage Rentals at Hampton Beach for 38 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine R. (Boyle) O'Neill; four sons, Robert J. O'Neill Jr., and Michael J. O'Neill, both of Hampton, John F. O'Neill and Paul T. O'Neill and his wife Sarah, all of Melrose; one daughter, Patricia M. O'Neill of Melrose; four grandchildren; one sister, Claire T. Cronin of Hampton; and one brother, John O'Neill of Friendship, Maine.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St., Melrose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to My Brothers Table, 98 Willow St., Lynn, MA 01901.

Alexander Leveris

KENSINGTON - Alexander Leveris, 82, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at his home.

He was born May 21, 1919, in Haverhill, Mass., the son of the late Arthur and Nicoligia (Lazanas) Leveris. He resided in Haverhill for many years moving to Kensington in 1975.

He was a graduate of Haverhill High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving aboard the USS Yorktown during the Battle of Midway. Senator Smith recently honored him for his military service.

Mr. Leveris was a painter and owned and operated Valley Maintenance Co.

He was a member of the Kensington Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and served as a minister for more than 50 years.

He enjoyed gardening, entertaining and walking on the beach.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Faniades) Leveris of Kensington; one son, Daniel Leveris of Brunswick, Maine; four grandchildren; one brother, T.A. Leveris of Switzerland; one sister, Constance Duffy of Bradford, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Route 27, Brentwood. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery, Haverhill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Route 101, Brentwood, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.

Steven L. Wheeler

HAMPTON FALLS - Steven L. Wheeler, 61, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 16, 1940, in Concord, the son of the late Lewis N. and Arlene E. (Noyes) Wheeler.

He was a 1958 graduate of Concord High School and was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with an interest in veterinary medicine. Although he never received his degree in veterinary medicine, he loved all animals.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served with the Air Force Reserves.

Mr. Wheeler was self employed.

He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

He is survived by one daughter, Sarah Norton of Seabrook; one granddaughter; one sister, Sandra L. Long of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in East Dunbarton Cemetery, Dunbarton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the N.H. SPCA, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Alice O. Long

HAMPTON - Alice O. Long, 72, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in Exeter Hospital.

She was born May 19, 1930, in Pine Grove, La., the daughter of the late Leonidas P. and Eva (Hatcher) Montgomery, and resided in Baton Rouge, La., for 34 years moving to Hampton in 1983.

She was educated in Baton Rouge schools.

Mrs. Long was an active communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and was a longtime volunteer bookkeeper at the church.

She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and reading.

The widow of James O. Long, who died in 1993, she is survived by several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Mary Streff of Topeka, Kan., and Laura Fuller of Lowell, Mass.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford, Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.

Mabel K. Hanson

HAMPTON - Mabel K. Hanson, 86, of 22 Tuck Road, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center.

She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Nova Scotia, Canada, and had resided in Worcester, Mass., for many years before moving to Kingston in 1978.

She was educated in Nova Scotia schools.

Mrs. Hanson was a homemaker and was a member of Kingston Congregational Church.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Per R. Hanson of Hampton; one son and his wife, Richard and Cheryl Hanson of Lincoln, Mass.; and two grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be held Saturday, April 20, at 11 a.m. in Kingston Congregational Church, 8 Church St., Kingston. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston.

Memorial donations may be made to Kingston Congregational Church, 8 Church St., Kingston, NH 03848.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Lois A. Hatch

WELLS, Maine - Lois A. (Locke) Hatch, 66, of Littlefield Road, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford, Maine, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Durham, the daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Dudley) Locke. She had resided in Kennebunk, Maine, for many years before moving to Wells eight years ago.

Mrs. Hatch was employed at the Corning Company in Kennebunk.

She is survived by four sons, Steven Hatch of Sanford, Maine, Scott Hatch of Arundel, Maine, Dana Hatch of Wells and Stanley Hatch of Flowery Branch, Ga.; one daughter, Pamela Melcher of Wells; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert R. Locke of New Hampshire and Texas and James A. Locke Sr. of Norridgewock, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, June Tetrault, who died in 2001.

Private burial will be in Lee Hill Cemetery, Lee.

Arrangements were by the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket.
