Margaret Romanyshyn, 82
Margaret Romanyshyn, 82, of Westfield died on Thursday, April 15, 1999 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Newark, she lived in Westfield since 1983.
Mrs. Romanyshyn had been a clerk in the Credit Department of Hahnes Department Store in Newark for seven years before retiring in 1987.
Previously, she had worked for H.A. Wilson's for 15 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Rey of Cranford, Michele Arocha of Westfield and Dolores O’Reilly of Cranford; a brother, Frank San Georgio of Elizabeth; three sisters, Carmella Ammiano of Roselle Park, Angelina Zarra of Lynhurst, and Theresa Drahl, and three grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered on Monday, April 19, in St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue in Cranford.

Richard J. Dursee, 63
Grand Knight; Lithographing Salesman in New York
Richard J. Dursee, 63, of Garwood died on Monday, April 19, 1999 at home.
Born in the Bronx, he had lived in Westfield for 25 years before moving to Garwood last year.
Mr. Dursee was a lithographing salesman in New York City for more than 20 years before retiring in 1991 from Findur and Sons Printing.
He was a volunteer for Catholic Charities in Cranford. He was a past Grand Knight at the Monsignor Watterson Council No. 1711 Knights of Columbus in Westfield. He also was an organizer of youth sports and Christian Youth Organization (CYO) sports at Holy Trinity Church in Westfield.
He was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Dursee, in 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, Denise McGowan of Glen Gardner and Jean Curry of Westfield; four sons, Richard K. Dursee of Garwood, John Dursee of Centreville, Virginia, Brian Dursee of Garwood, and Timothy Dursee of Westfield; a brother, Charles Dursee of Atlanta, Georgia; and eight grandchildren.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held today, Thursday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Westfield. Interment will be held at Fairview
Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements were handled by Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield.

Julia Graham, 75
Julia Graham, 75, of Plainfield died on Thursday, April 15, 1999 at home.
Born in Westfield, she had lived in Plainfield all of her life.
Mrs. Graham was a member of the First Baptist Church in Colonia, where she was also a mother of the church, a missionary and an usher.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bishop Morris Graham, in 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Alphonso Lyles of New York and Wesley Green of Plainfield; two daughters, Ernestine Lyles and Phyllis Lyles, both of Plainfield; a brother, William Greenof Plainfield; two sisters, Pearl Carter of Scotch Plains and Delores Barron of Piscataway; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 20, at the Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.

Thomas J. Blechar, 78
Contractor; Had Band in the 1940s and 1950s
Thomas J. Blechar, 78, of Branchburg died on Friday, April 16, 1999 at home.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Branchburg in 1953.
A mechanical contractor, Mr. Blechar owned and operated LIFTCO in Branchburg since 1984.
He had owned Blechar Builders in Branchburg from 1953 to 1984.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Blechar played drums professionally with his band, Tommy Blechar and His Star Dusters Orchestra, in the 1940s and early 1950s.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Blechar; a daughter, Beverly Cirincione, and two sisters, Isabell Kearns of Warren and Louise Page of Loma Linda, California.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 20, at the Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville.

William Kolfenbach, Sr., 58
Was Marine; Former Executive of Ironworkers Union
William A. Kolfenbach, Sr., 58, of Berkeley Heights died on Saturday, April 17, 1999 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Berkeley Heights 28 years ago.
Mr. Kolfenbach had been President and business manager of Ironworkers Union Local No. 480 in New Jersey before retiring.
He was President of the Somerset Building Trades in Somerset County.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during peacetime.
Surviving are his wife, Diana Kolfenbach; his mother, Margueritta DePhillips; a son, William A. Kolfenbach, Jr., and a sister, Carol Williams.
A Mass was offered on Wednesday, April 21, in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Garwood, following the funeral from the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home in Clark.

Joseph M. Nerl, 75
Navy Veteran; Former Commercial Mechanic
Joseph Max Nerl, 75, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died on Sunday, April 18, 1999 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Las Vegas for 30 years.
Mr. Nerl was a commercial mechanic before retiring.
He had served in the United States Navy in the Mediterranean Theater during World War II.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Huneke of Lakeside, California and Judith Renna of Asbury Park; a brother, Frank Nerl of Cranford; three sisters, Marie Drummond of Holiday, Florida,

Lucy Izzo Fusco, 87
Former Employee In Garment Industry in Plainfield
Lucy Izzo Fusco, 87, of South Plainfield died on Sunday, April 18, 1999 in Genesis ElderCare the Woodlands in Plainfield.
Born in Plainfield, she had lived there before moving to South Plainfield in 1975.
Mrs. Fusco was a Floor Lady or Supervisor in the garment business in Plainfield for 50 years before retiring from Hodes Dress Company in Plainfield in 1978.
She was a Life Achievement Member of International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) No. 149 in Newark.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis J. Fusco, Sr., in 1975.
Surviving are her son, Louis J. Fusco, Jr. of Tinton Falls; a daughter, Patricia LaFleur of Scotch Plains; a brother, Dr. Dominick Izzo of Rome, Italy; a sister, Vincenza Vittolo of Naples, Italy; and two grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 21, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield.
Interment was held at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, Fanwood.
Memorial donations may be made tothe South Plainfield Rescue Squad, 2520 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, 07080.
