Frank M. Colvin, 78, of South Plainfield died Monday, January 18, 1999 at home.
Born in Plainfield, Mr. Colvin had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to South Plainfield in 1943.
Mr. Colvin owned and operated Panel-Oven Engineering in South Plainfield since 1955.
Previously, he worked as an electrician at Watson Stillman Co. of Roselle.
He was employed by Eastern Aircraft of Linden during World War II.
He was a Past-President of the Plainfield Chamber of Commerce League, South Plainfield Industrial Division, and the United States Navy League, New Brunswick Chapter.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield and St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Lavallette.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Helen Pearson Colvin; a daughter, Carol Squindo of South Plainfield; a son, Frank Colvin, Jr. of South Plainfield; three sisters, Ruth Stefanik of Port Charlotte, Florida, Lorraine Gallian of Kingwood, Texas, and Edith Snider of Milford.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, January 22, at 9:15 a.m. at McCriskin Home for Funerals in South Plainfield followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, January 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1034 Salem Road, Union, 07083.

J. Louisa West, 62
Was Legal Secretary; Guidance Counselor at Rutgers University
J. Louisa West, 62, of Plainfield died on Thursday, January 14, 1999 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown.
Born in Munroe, North Carolina, she had lived in Madison before moving to Plainfield 37 years ago.
Mrs. West was a legal secretary for Legal Services of New Jersey in Edison for 20 years at the time of her death.
She had previously worked as a guidance counselor for Rutgers University and Livingston College in Piscataway for 10 years.
She graduated from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Surviving are a son, James E. West, Jr. of Plainfield; two daughters, Melanie L. West of Mountainside and Lauretta E. West of Newton; a brother, Harold B. Moss of Weddington, North Carolina; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Monday, January 18, in the First Unitarian Society of Plainfield.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.

Willard Woodward, 84
Historian; Former Manager W. T. Grant, Co.
Willard N. Woodward, 84, of Toms River, died on Monday, May 10, 1999 at Fountain View Care Center in Lakewood.
Born in Flushing, New York, he had lived in Westfield for 33 years before moving to Toms River in 1988.
Mr. Woodward was a manager with W. T. Grant, Company, Florham Park, before retiring in 1976.
He was active in several organizations, including the Mayflower Society, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Society of Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge, and Flagon and Trencher. He also belonged to the Genealogical Society of the West Fields and the New England Historical and Genealogical Society.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ the Scientist in Toms River.
He was a graduate of Colgate University.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 3rd Division of the US Army. He was awarded two bronze stars for heroism in ground combat.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Arelene Woodward.
Surviving are his wife of 11 years, Mary Ensley Woodward of Toms River, and his son, Newell Woodward, of Lake Mary, Florida.
A Memorial Service was held on Monday, May 17, at D’Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Avenue, Lakewood. Interment will be at The First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.

Mary Elizabeth Lamb, 50
Executive At Career Placement Service Companies
Mary Elizabeth Lamb, 50, of Convent Station died on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at home.
Born in Plainfield, she had lived in Scotch Plains, Carmel, New York and Fishkill, New York, before moving to Convent Station last year.
Ms. Lamb had been vice president of Manchester International in Parsippany.
Previously, she had been a vice president of the Consumer Services Group of Citibank in New York City for 12 years.
In the mid-1990’s, she co-produced a weekly radio program for the Hudson Valley area of New York State, dealing with workplace trends and opportunities.
She had graduated cum laude from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station in 1970. She was a “Who’s Who” outstanding woman graduate of the year.
Surviving are her mother, Elizabeth A. Lamb, of Scotch Plains; four brothers, William Lamb, of Phillipsburg, Patrick Lamb of Springfield, Michael Lamb of Wayne, and Christopher Lamb, of Westfield.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 22, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scotch Plains.
Arrangements are being handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Heart of May Nazareth Committee, 1571 Martine Avenue, Scotch Plains, 07076 or Morris County Hospice, 282 West Hanover Avenue, Morristown, 07960.

Thelma L. Lomax, 66
Thelma Louise Lomax, 66, of Buena Vista, Virginia died on Monday, May 10, 1999 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she had lived in Westfield before moving to Buena Vista.
Mrs. Lomax had been a professor and Alumni Director at Southern Seminary Junior College in Buena Vista before retiring.
She was a graduate of Southern Seminary Junior College, the University of North Carolina and Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Surviving are her husband, William B. Lomax, Jr.; a son, Thomas S. Lomax, and a daughter, Charlotte B. Lomax.
Graveside services were held at the Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista.
Arrangements were handled by the Lomas Funeral Home in Buena Vista.

John Strube, 74
Former Union Mayor; Executive With Norton & Williams, Inc.
John R. Strube, 74, of Union Township, Hunterdon County, died on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at home.
Born in Orange, he had lived in Westfield and Mountainside before moving to Union Township in 1973.
A member of the Union Township Committee for 13 years and the planning board for five years, Mr. Strube served four terms as Mayor of the township.
Mr. Strube was the vice president of sales and director of the export division at Norton & Williams Inc., Westfield, for 45 years.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the North Hunterdon Lions Club.
He was predeceased by his son, Kurt Strube, in 1991.
Surviving are his wife, Arline Strube; two sons, Eric Strube, of Lavallette, and Paul Strube, of Union Township; two daughters, Carol Tittel, of Goshen, Kentucky, and Christine Strube, of Manahawkin; and three granddaughters.
A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, May 15, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lebanon Township.
Arrangements were handled by the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton.
Interment was held at the Lower Valley Cemetery in Califon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, 08822, or St. John Neumann Catholic Church Building Fund, Route 513, Califon, 07803.

Sophie Dunetz, 87
Sophie Dunetz, 87, of Westfield, died on Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at Rahway Hospital.
Born in Elizabeth, she had lived in Newark before moving to Westfield five years ago.
Miss Dunetz was an executive controller for the Armel Ice Cream Co. in Newark for 60 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Union County Cancer Society, Hadassah and the Volunteers Association of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, all of Elizabeth.
Surviving is a brother, Nathan Dunetz.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, May 13, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
Arrangements were handled by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
