Valerie Loprete, 54, of Long Valley died on Friday, December 17, 1999 in Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Scotch Plains and Florida before moving to Long Valley 26 years ago.
Mrs. Loprete was a receptionist for the Syner Medical Group in Califon.
Surviving are a son, Jon Loprete; a daughter, Jessica Bitecola, and a sister, Emily Werte.
A Liturgy was offered on Monday, December 20, in the Elevation of the Holy Cross Eastern Orthodox Church in Hackettstown.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, Inc., in Succasunna.

Ed Pirolozzi, 70
Retired Postal Worker; Was Fourth Degree Knight and Veteran
Ed (Enrico) Pirolozzi, 70, of Scotch Plains died on Friday, December 17, 1999 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Staten Island, he had lived in Plainfield before moving to Scotch Plains in 1949.
Mr. Pirolozzi had been employed as a front end clerk for the United States Post Office in Scotch Plains for 30 years before retiring.
A United States Army veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Pirolozzi was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Father Nelligan Council No. 5730 of Scotch Plains and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Council No. 10122, also of Scotch Plains.
He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Donatelli Pirolozzi; two daughters, Joyce M. Kosovan and Debra Snyder; three brothers, John Pirolozzi, Leonard Pirolozzi and Joseph Pirolozzi; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, December 21, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church.
Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
Donations may be made to the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad.

Francis Bremer, 87
Was Court Reporter; Member of Choral and Theater Groups
Francis H. Bremer, 87, of Westfield died on Monday, December 20, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Johnstown, Pa., he had lived in Chicago before moving to Westfield 43 years ago.
Mr. Bremer had been a Federal court reporter in Newark for 30 years.
After retiring in 1980, he formed a partnership called Court Reporting Services, Inc. in Verona.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS Lewis Hancock.
Mr. Bremer was a parishioner of St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, where he was also a lector and a member of the choir.
He was a member of the Choral Arts Society of New Jersey and the Westfield Community Players.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Dawson Bremer; a son, James Bremer of Westfield; two daughters, Francine Bremer of Sacramento, Calif. and Coletta Milan of Westfield; a brother, Vince Bremer of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Marie Kinney of Pennsylvania and Dolly Pfister of Michigan, and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Thursday, December 23, at 10 a. m. in St. Helen’s Church.
Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements are being handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Mary Rettschlag, 68
Mary C. Leonard Rettschlag, 68, of Westfield died on Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Perth Amboy, she lived in Westfield for 35 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Karl H. Rettschlag, in 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Karl D. Rettschlag and Douglas B. Rettschlag, both of Westfield.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, December 18, at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Jerry A. Ricci, 84
Jerry A. Ricci, 84, of Westfield died on Saturday, December 18, 1999 at home.
Born in New York City, he moved to Westfield 50 years ago.
Mr. Ricci had been a safety engineer for Texas Instruments in Westfield for two years before retiring in 1977.
Prior to that, he had been a safety engineer for Liberty Mutual and, from 1950 to 1965, had worked for the Cooper and Jarrett Trucking Company in Jersey City.
He was a 1938 business graduate of New York University.
Mr. Ricci was a major in the United States Army during World War II and served in the Army Reserves until 1975.
He was a board member of the Army Retiree Council and a drill sergeant for American Legion Post No. 3 in Westfield.
He was a lector at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Angela Ricci; a son, Robert Ricci; a daughter, Renee Colello, and four grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered yesterday, Wednesday, December 22, in St. Helen’s Church.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Eleanor C. Phillips, 85
Eleanor C. Cartwright Phillips, 85, of Westfield died on Monday, April 17, 2000 at the Westfield Network, Genesis ElderCare Center in Westfield.
Born in Rahway, she had lived there until moving to Westfield in 1940.
Mrs. Phillips had taught at Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield for eight years.
She was a member of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield for many years.
A 1937 graduate of Douglass Women’s College in New Brunswick, she earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Alan Phillips, in 1962.
Surviving are a brother, Thomas V. Cartwright, Sr. of Clark.
A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, April 20, at 10 a.m. in the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rahway Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Stone Street, Rahway, 07065.

Tullio M. Coppola, 71
Tullio M. Coppola, 71, of Port Reading died on Monday, April 17, 2000 at Raritan Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division.
Born in Pietrastornina, Italy, he lived in Port Reading for the past 50 years.
Mr. Coppola was the former owner and operator of Coppola Deli in Carteret for 15 years.
Previously, he had been the owner and operator of Coppola & Stanlaw Trucking Inc. in Port Reading.
He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Port Reading.
He was predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Angela Coppola, and by two brothers, Amadeo Coppola and Francesco Coppola.
Surviving are his wife, the former Carmela Travaglione; four daughters, Angela Coppola of Scotch Plains, Gilda Stanlaw of South Brunswick Township, Rita Miller of Port Reading and Christina Coppola of Eatontown; three brothers, Alfonso Coppola, Corrado Coppola and Mario Coppola, all of Italy; three sisters, Angela Coppola, Maria Bernobi and Nunziata Coppola, all of Italy, and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 21, at the Synowiecki Funeral Home in Carteret.
Interment will take place at St. James Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum in Woodbridge.
Visitation will take place today, Thursday, April 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
