Gina Ann Bartus

'Aunt Gina'

Brielle resident Gina Ann Luciano Bartus died Tuesday, Dec. 4 in her home.

She was 67 years old.

Born in Teaneck, Mrs. Bartus lived in Washington Township before moving to Brielle in 1975.

She attended Teaneck High School.

'Aunt Gina' will be best remembered for her Christmas Eve celebrations and her little yellow convertible, and was well known at many antique shows and markets.

She was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Julia Luciano.

Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Sonny Bartus; two daughters, Diane Leigh Kocis, Jackson, and Linda Jean Zitelli, Bergenfield; and five grandchildren, Peter, Jessica and Rachel Hickman, and Joseph and Adam Zitelli.

Funeral arrangements were from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan.

Richard W. Whitehead

Army Veteran

Holiday, Fla., resident Richard W. Whitehead, formerly of Manasquan, died Wednesday, Nov. 28 in Hernando-Pasco Hospice, New Port Richey, Fla.

He was 51 years old.

Born in Point Pleasant, Mr. Whitehead was raised in Manasquan, and had resided in New Jersey before moving to Holiday, Fla. in 1988.

He was a graduate of Manasquan High School.

He was employed with the Mid-Coast Concrete Co., New Port Richey, Fla.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was predeceased in 1989 by his father, Edward L. Whitehead Sr., a former lieutenant of the Manasquan Police Department.

Surviving are his loving companion, Polly Hadlock, Holiday, Fla.; one son, Ryan R., Bayport, N.Y.; one daughter, Tuesday Gough-Fibkins, Bellport, N.Y.; his mother, June A. Whitehead, Clermont, Fla.; two brothers, Edward L. Jr., Clermont, Fla.; and Robert D., Wellington, Fla; and one sister, Nancy L. Solomon, Wanamassa.

Funeral arrangements were from the Dobies Funeral Home, Holiday, Fla.

Violet E. Baracca

Homemaker

Brielle resident Violet E. Baracca died Sunday, Dec. 9 in the Medical Center of Ocean County ‹ Brick Hospital.

She was 89 years old.

Born in Yardley, Pa., Mrs. Baracca lived in New York City before moving to Brielle in 1973.

She was a homemaker, and an avid reader, and gardner, and loved cats and going to garage sales.

She was predeceased in 1972 by her husband, Frank V. Baracca.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Carol, Edison, and Ken, Brielle; and one grandson, Gregory.

Funeral arrangements are from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. Visiting will be at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the funeral home, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Michael A. Costello

Arsenal Librarian

Sea Girt resident Michael A. Costello died Tuesday, Dec. 4 in Sunnyside Manor, Wall Township.

He was 91 years old.

Born in Newark, Mr. Costello resided in Nutley and Glen Ridge before moving to Sea Girt in 1972.

He earned both a bachelorıs degree in history and political science in 1932, and a masterıs degree in education in 1949, from Rutgers university. He also completed advanced graduate study in library science at Rutgers.

He was employed as chief of the Scientific and technical information branch with the Picatinny Arsenal, retiring in 1973. He assisted the Department of the Army with the development and integration of technical information management programs in its major research and development centers. Previously, he was employed as an assistant professor of library science with Farleigh Dickenson University, and as a history instructor with Jersey City State College.

He was a member of the Special Libraries Association, the American Library Association, and the American Society of Information Sciences. He was an active member of the Rutgers Alumni Association, and a strong supporter of the universityıs academic and athletics programs. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was an Army veteran, serving from 1943-1945.

He was predeceased in 1996 by his wife of 55 years, Louise.

Surviving are one son, Michael Gary; two brothers, Daniel, and Lawrence; three sisters, Elizabeth Kuhn, Helen Manfready, and Dorothy Costello; and one grandson, Timothy Daniel.

Funeral arrangements were from the Meehan Funeral Home, Spring Lake Heights.

Robert T. Morris

Purchasing Manager

Brick Township and Gainesville, Ga., resident Robert T. Morris, formerly of Wall Township, died Thursday, Dec. 6 in the Medical Center of Ocean Township ‹ Brick Hospital.

He was 56 years old.

Born in Newark, Mr. Morris lived in Wall before moving to Brick six years ago.

He was employed for 25 years as a purchasing manager with ARRIS Co., Duluth, Ga.

He was predeceased earlier this year by his sister, Celine McGurran.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Zepko Morris; two sons, Tom, and his wife Jenny Ward, Huntersville, N.C.; and Brian, and his fiancee, Jillian Levandowski, Brick; one daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Aldo Ramina, Wall; three sisters, Patricia Wright, Brick, Elizabeth Akersten, Verona, and Joan Whelan, Oceanview; and seven grandchildren, Lauren, T.J., Harrison, Amanda, and Abigal Ward, and Matthew and Jack Ramina.

Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.

Carl J. Buehler Jr.

Corporation President

Cherry Hill and Sea Girt resident Carl J. Buehler Jr. died Saturday, Dec. 8.

He was 68 years old.

Born in Montclair, Mr. Buehler lived in Manasquan before moving to Cherry Hill and Sea Girt.

He was a graduate of Manasquan High School Class of 1950, and a graduate of Rutgers University.

He was president of Pad & Publication Assembly Corporation, Cherry Hill, a commercial printing company that he founded 20 years ago.

He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving 1954-1959.

As a 10-year-old boy, Mr. Buehler sold a record number of War Bonds; the wire services named him 'the kid behind the man behind the gun,' and he was honored for this during a parade in New York City in 1943.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Grace C. Cullman Buehler; one son, Carl J. III, Marlton, three daughters, Joan C. Buehler, Audubon, Blair Ransom, Berkley Heights, and Barbara Buehler, Marlton; one sister, Barbara Cornelius, Deerfield Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Carl IV, Alexandra, William, and Zoe Grace; and one sister-in-law, Joan Phelps, San Diego, Calif.

Funeral arrangements were from the Schetter Funeral Home, Cherry Hill.

Herbert L. Kregg

Company Owner

Former Sea Girt resident, Herbert Ludwig Kregg died Monday, Dec. 10 in the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility, Wall Township.

He was 84 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Kregg lived in Bloomfield, Caldwell, Sea Girt, and Key Largo, Fla.

He began his career with Dugan Brotherıs Bakery, Newark, before becoming co-owner of Siglerıs Marine, Wall, and then founded Card Sound Properties, Key Largo, Fla.

He was a member, for 30 years, of both the Card Sound Golf Club and The Ocean Reef Club, and was a former Sea Girt fireman.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of master sergeant.

Mr. Kregg was a hard worker, avid golfer, and above all else, a devoted and generous husband, father, and grandfather.

He was predeceased in 1994 by his wife of 53 years, Jean, and by his brother, Wallie.

Surviving are two sons, David and Robert, both of Sea Girt; one brother, David; one sister, Annette Martin; three granddaughters, Sheila , Stacy, and Krisi; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, and Tucker.

Funeral arrangements are from the OıBrien Funeral Home, Wall. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan.

Mary Patricia Costigan

Administrative Assistant

Brielle resident Mary Patricia 'Pat' Costigan died Monday, Dec. 10 in a car accident in Brielle.

She was 66 years old.

Born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y., Mrs. Costigan lived in Colts Neck before moving to Brielle five years ago.

She was employed for 15 years as an administrative assistant with St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel.

Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Rose, Wyckoff, William, Red Bank, Timothy and Molly, Doylestown, Pa., and Matthew, Sunrise, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Douglas Moore, Lanoka Harbor, and Mary Beth Costigan and Louis Torrieri, Manasquan; her mother, Bridie OıNeill; one brother, John OıNeill; two sisters, Kathleen McKinnon and Barbara Masella; five grandchildren, Brian, Daniel, and Patrick Moore, and Sean and Lindsay Costigan; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are from the OıBrien Funeral Home, Wall Township. Visiting hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Denis Church, Manasquan.
