Hartman, Ruth A.

Ruth A. Hartman, 94, formerly of Villas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2011. She is survived by 4 sons and 2 daughters: Daniel of Wellington, NV, Thomas Jr. (Lois) of North Cape May, NJ, Robert Sr. (Terrie) of Cold Spring, NJ and Raymond Sr. (Elke); Dolly Hartman-Matz of Heber Spring, AR and Marie Clement (Don) of Cape May Court House, NJ. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Hartman, Sr. and great grandchild Ryan Johnson.

Funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic St., Cape May Court House. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church.

MacCauley, Elizabeth "Betty"

Elizabeth (Betty) L. MacCauley (nee Leipold) age 95, died at home on Thursday, July 21, 2011, wife of the late William J. MacCauley.

Betty is survived by numerous nieces and their families on the east and west coasts . As a result of her marriage to Bill MacCauley, she has well-loved stepchildren and their families in Pennsylvania.

Betty retired from GE after 36 years of service. She enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad. She loved her extended family and friends in NJ, PA, CA & NC. She was dutifully attended by her live-in caregiver, Margaret.

Betty was active in many organizations including: Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sea Isle City Garden Club, SIC Woman's Civic Club, SIC Historical Society Museum and SIC Beachcombers.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 11:00am, August 18th at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 4308 Landis Ave., Sea Isle City, NJ 08243. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Saint Joseph Catholic Church building fund, in Betty's name, would be greatly appreciated.

Haffert, Helen M.

On Wednesday, July 20, 2011, Helen M. Haffert (nee Felix), 92, of Sea Isle City died as she had lived - peacefully and with her family around her. The oldest of four daughters of George and Anna Felix, she was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School. married to Horace J. Haffert for 67 years, they nurtured their family in Sea Isle City. The co-proprietors of the Surfside Hotel, they, their children, and extended family, literally escaped with their lives as the hotel was washed into the ocean during the '62 storm. Having lost everything, Helen and Horace rebuilt their lives and helped rebuild their devastated community.

Involved in many civic endeavors, she was a life-long member of the Sea Isle City Women's Civic Club, which was founded by her great-aunt, Mamie Hagan, in 1905. A volunteer for both Mercy Hospital and Burdette Tomlin Hospital, her advocacy and argument to create the northbound Garden State Parkway turnaround for Sea Isle City's Exit 17 to facilitate emergency services continues to benefit residents and visitors alike. A veritable encyclopedia of Sea Isle City's residents, history, and stories, she was a lifelong parishioner and active member of St. Joseph's Church and The Catholic Daughters, a volunteer for the Sea Isle City Historical Museum, a longtime active member of the Sea Isle City Yacht Club, an elected Republican Committeewoman, and an avid bridge player. A beloved member of her community, she extended her hand to all, modeling hope and resilience, reminding us that no matter what life throws at you, it can be endured and transcended with love. A fervent believer in the power of prayer, she spent several hours each day actively praying for those she knew and the world at large.

Predeceased by her husband, Horace, her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Haffert, her grandson, H. Joseph Haffert III, and her sisters, Anne Powell and Theresa Horsey, she is survived by her sister, Mary Rakowski, her sister-in-law, Patricia Haffert, and her children: Mary and Peter Anninos, Nancy Bogda, Pat Haffert and Terry Downey, Mark and Susan Haffert, and Gregory Haffert and Mary Devery. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House and a viewing from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday at St. Joseph's Church, 44th and Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Elizabeth cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carmelite Monastery, 61 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Boston MA 02119 or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Rebhorn, Loretta H.

Loretta H. Rebhorn, 75, of North Wildwood, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Jennie (Grillo) Fleri, she has lived here for 20 years after moving from Philadelphia. She loved to dance and was always the first one up to start dancing. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, especially on their annual trip to St. Maarten.

Mrs. Rebhorn is survived by her husband of 52 years, Norman Rebhorn; her children Christine (Mickey) McMullen of Cape May Court House and Michael (Erin) Rebhorn of Oxford, PA; her four grandchildren, Kyle, Sean, Madison, and Alexis; her sister, Rose (Frank) Catapano of Queens, NY; her brother, Joseph (Marsha) Fleri of Queens, NY; and her lifelong friend, Lorrie McCleary.

Funeral Mass will be said on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Viewings will be held on Sunday, July 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House and on Monday, July 25 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church. Interment will be in Cold Spring Presbyterian cemetery. Donations in Loretta's memory may be made to Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, 2200 Kentmere Parkway, Wilmington, DE 19806.

Berry, Mary E.

Berry, Mary E. "Betty", of Sea Isle City passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011. Born in Scranton, PA to John and Mary Langan Boyle, she worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, lastly at Abington Memorial Hospital.

Mary is survived by her son Patrick Boyle and daughter Rosemary Carr; grandchildren: Jeffrey Carr, Aimee (Scott) Timmons, Andrea Carr, Christopher (Patricia) Boyle, and Brendan Boyle; her loving great grandchildren: Olivia, Andrew, Ryan, Addison, and Jackson; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands James Boyle and Graham Berry, her son Richard, brother Jack, and sister Ellen.

A Memorial Mass will be on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 4308 Landis Ave., Sea Isle City, NJ 08243. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Mary's name to Love of Linda Cancer Fund, PO Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260 or the American Liver Foundation, 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, NY 10006.

Hunt, Ronald D.

Hunt, Ronald D., 29 - of Pine Hill passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011. Funeral Services will be on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lighthouse Church, 1248 Rt. 9 South, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Seaside cemetery in Palermo.

Henderson, Harry "Bud"

Henderson, Harry T. "Bud", 91 - of Avalon passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011. He is survived by his wife Bettie C.; daughters Mischele A. Way and Sheila J. Powell; sister Betty Winklemann, and brother Donald Henderson. He was born in Warwick, NY and later served in the US Navy during World War II.

Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Cape Regional Medical Center, 2 Stone Harbor Blvd., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Hoff, Sr., Raymond J.

Raymond J. Hoff, Sr., age 74, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Friday, July 8, 2011. A lifetime area resident, he was born in North Wildwood, NJ, the son of the late William E. and Emily H. Andre' Hoff, Sr. He was a farmer and had also worked for Conover Farms. He was a member of the Rio Grande Bible Church.

Ray was an avid Elvis fan enjoying listening to Elvis' music and watching his movies.

He is survived by his two children; Raymond J. Jr. (Rosalie) of Philadelphia and Wanda L. (Frank) Kolondra of North Cape May; two sisters: Anna Hoffert of Lower Twp. and Barbara A Rodgers of Moyock, NC and six grandchildren: Misty, Kristie, Jack, Amanda, Mark and Erica and one great grandson, Van.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Duane and two brothers; William E. Jr. and Charles A. Hoff.

A viewing will be held at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Cold Spring Presbyterian cemetery.

Plenge, William J.
Army

Plenge, William John - passed away July 8, 2011. Born in 1927 in Englewood to Mildred (nee Scott) and William, he graduated Leonia High School in 1945. He served as a German Interpreter for the US Army Air Corps at the end of World War II. He attended Bergen Jr. College in Teaneck where he met his first wife Dawn Gulyas. After completing college he joined his family business, Acme Fire Alarm Company in New York City which he came to own and operate. He retired and moved to South Dennis.

He loved to spend time with his family for any occasion and speak German with anyone that wanted to listen. In his earlier years he loved to travel, take trips on his sailboat, and collect stamps.

Bill was a past member and Secretary of the Friends of Historic Cold Spring Village and active in MOAA and Cape May County Crimestoppers through which he met his beloved wife Tib. They married in 2002 and enjoyed spending time together with friends and family especially summers at the Cape May Beach Club.

He was predeceased by Dawn and will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Tib, daughters Barbara (Bob) Morris, Joanne (Bruce) McNair, Nancy Caputo and Liese McGowan. He also leaves grandchildren Will (Laurie), Ursula (David), Ed (Amberly), Dawn (Matt), Erin (Ken), and Sean (Bryttany); as well as 12 great grandchildren and many family members and friends; and his best pal Cami.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 6 pm at the Beach Club of Cape May, 1860 Maryland Ave., Cape May, NJ 08204. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Bill's name to the charity of your choice.

Hamilton, Carmen Concepcion

Hamilton, Carmen C., 75 - passed away on July 7, 2011. She was born in Panama to James and Lillian Balford and later worked at Head Start School in Whitesboro as well as the City of Wildwood.

She is survived by her children: Jerry, Eduardo, and Elena; brother Gordon and wife Norma; sisters Verly, Lila, and Weenie; grandchildren: Jerry Jr., Jaquelly, Melisa, Abdul, Eileen, Carla, Sheila, Elena Star, and more; great grandchildren Teniza, Victor, Zion, and Jahna; best friends Captain Bennett and Miss Doris; and many more relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 2 pm at New Hope Pentecostal Church, 460 Shunpike Rd., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be in Household of Ruth cemetery in Whitesboro.

Sutton, III, Robert P.

Robert P. Sutton, III, age 57, of Dennisville, NJ, died Thursday, July 7, 2011. He was born in Sea Isle City, NJ the son of Tamara "Peg" Simmerman Sutton and the late Robert P. Sutton, Jr. and was a lifetime area resident.

Bob was a self employed building contractor and then a bartender for twenty years having worked at the Avalon Country Club for the last sixteen years.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting deer with daughter, Brooke, and his son, Bobby; watching NASCAR races on Sunday afternoons with all his friends, especially Brian VanArtsdalen; attending basketball games and attending Bobby's baseball games. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, working outside on the log cabin, his yard, his garage and being with his dogs especially Red, Daisey and Lacy.

Bob is survived by his mother, Tamara "Peg" Sutton; his children, Brooke A. and Robert P., IV; his wife, Patricia; and his many friends including Bill and Fran Davis, and John and Darlene Muller.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert P. Sutton, Jr., his sister, Contance Judyski, and his nephew, Philip Judyski, Jr.

Viewings will be held at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and on Monday, July 11, 2011, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by services at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Union cemetery, South Dennis, NJ.

Memorials may be made to the Dennis Volunteer Fire Company, or the Dennisville Recreation Department baseball related programs. Condolences at www.radzieta.com. In Bob's words, "I am thankful for all the friends and the great people I met and worked with during my life, and a special thanks to my mother for always being there for me. Love, Bob."

Lare, Deborah Lee

Deborah Lee Lare (nee Hartle), 57 - of Rio Grande passed away at home on July 6, 2011 surrounded by her family after battling a lengthy illness. Debbie loved the beach, boardwalk, taking trips to Disney, and spending time with her family and friends. She was employed at Waste Management for the past 24 years. Debbie was predeceased by her parents Warren and Florence Hartle.

She is survived by her husband John, whom she was married to for over 38 years. She is also survived by her children: John Jr., (Tina), Christopher (Antonina), and Debralee (Dave) Seitz; her grandchildren Camryn, Nicholas, Gianna, Logan, and Ian; and her two sisters Rochelle and Trudy.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Deborah's name to Love of Linda Cancer Fund, PO Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260.

Simmons, Ollie Mae

MS. OLLIE M. SIMMONS - Has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 after a brief illness and stay at Cape Regional Medical Center, in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

Ollie was raised and educated in Durham, North Carolina. She migrated to Philadelphia following her marriage to Bennie Simmons. The union of Ollie and Bennie produced four children. In all, Ollie bore five children, four girls and one boy. Although Ollie relocated to Philadelphia for greater opportunities, family remained important to her, as witnessed by her annual pilgrimages back to North Carolina, with her children in tow. She also enjoyed attending family celebrations and particularly looked forward to the annual Lyons Family Reunion.

Ollie is survived by her four daughters and one son, Daisy Bailey, Bennetta Lyons, Ruth Pearson (Dwight) all of Philadelphia, PA, Sereather Pine, and Frederick Simmons of Wildwood, NJ, 16 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters. She also leaves behind to cherish her memories, seven sisters Arnetta Jackson (William) of Newark NJ, Grace Victoria Smith (LaGrant) of Severn MD, Virginia Denney of Woodbridge, VA, Luvenia Royster, Carlissia Crawford, Ola Dawson, and Florentine Carter Neil (Neil) all of Durham NC, and one brother Alphonza Lyons of Bronx, NY, and a host of relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral Services are being held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 1:00pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Cape May Court House, NJ, Interment Household of Ruth, Whitesboro, NJ.
