VOGES, FREDERICK K. "FRITZ"

Burlington City, NJ Resident Frederick K. "Fritz" Voges, of Burlington City, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at his residence after a long illness at the age of 88.

Born in Baltimore, MD, Mr. Voges came to live in Burlington at the age of 10. He also lived briefly in Panaman before returning to Burlington where he was a graduate of Burlington High School Class of 1931. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as an Estimator for U.S. Pipe and Foundry, in Burlington, retiring in 1978 at age 65. He then worked for Farmers and Mechanics Savings and Loan Association as a Courier for 13 years. He was very active and well known in area sports as an umpire, scorekeeper and game announcer. He was an officer in the South Jersey Umpires Association for 26 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, in Burlington, where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and, in his earlier years, sang in the church choir. He was also a member of St. Mary's Choral Society. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (nee Greigg), his daughter, Barbara Esquivel of Hilton Head, NC; his grandchildren, Margaret Gray and Hector Esquivel of Hilton Head and Eric Esquivel of Tennessee, and his granddaughter, Gabriella Gray, also of Hilton Head. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Friday in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 145 W. Broad St., Burlington, with burial following in Odd Fellows cemetery. There will be no calling hours prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory to St. Mary's Church, would be apprecaited. Arrangements by PAGE FUNERAL HOME, Burlington.

BIRD, PAUL E.

Nokomis, FL Resident Paul E. Bird, 83, of Nokomis, FL, formerly of Surf City, Long Beach Island, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at the Harborside Center, Venice, FL. Born in Jacobstown, he lived in Mt. Holly and in Surf City, residing in Nokomis since 1998.

A World War II, United States Army Veteran, Mr. Bird was employed as an Insurance Sales Representative. He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Cherry Hill Office, after 32 years with the firm. He was a member of the B.P.O.E., Mt. Holly Lodge, and was a member of the Squires Twelve, Long Beach Island. Mr. Bird is survived by his wife of nearly 21 years, Katherine (nee Devereaux); his children, Paula V. Bird of Manchester and Edward G. Bird of Mt. Holly; his step-sons, Michael Griffin of Stony Brook, NY and William C. Griffin of Aldan, PA; his brother, Lester of Wrightstown; and he is also survived by his grandson, Anthony Canale. Funeral services and interment will be held Monday, June 25, 12:30 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans' Memorial cemetery , Arneytown. HACKIMER, ELEANOR M.

Philadelphia, PA Resident Eleanor M. Hackimer (nee McMullin) of Philadelphia, PA passed away on June 19, 2001 at Rancocas Hospital in Willingboro, NJ at the age of 83.

She was born in Philadelphia and had been a lifelong resident and homemaker. She was a member of Holy Innocents R.C. Church in Philadelphia. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Hackimer, loving mother of Robert A. Hackimer, Sr. and his wife Linda of Cinnaminson, NJ and Edward C. Hackimer of Spring City, PA; cherished grandmother of Cheryl Hackimer, Robert A. Hackimer, Jr., Edward Orth and Christine Hackimer. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at Holy Innocents R.C. Church, L St. and Hunting Park Ave., Philadelphia. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre cemetery , Cheltenham, PA. Visitation will be on Friday morning only from 9 to 10 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Mass Cards. HARRISON, MARY H.

Willingboro, NJ Resident Mary H. Harrison, age 79, of Willingboro, NJ, departed this life on Sunday, June 17, 2001 at Rancocas Hospital, Willingboro, NJ.

She was born on June 3, 1922 in Raleigh, NC to the late James and Nellie Cozart. She attended school in Fuguay, NC. She married Edward L. Harrison in 1951, who was a member of the U.S. Air Force, and she traveled to France, Germany and Turkey. She worked for the Board of Education in Willingboro, NJ for approximately 16 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #516. Her son, Eddie, Jr., preceded her in death four months ago. Mary leaves to cherish fond memories: her faithful husband of 50 years, Edward; their daughter, Gloria Cynthia of Willingboro, NJ; "daughters", Gwendolyn of Jamaica, NY and Carolyn of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2001, 11 AM at the W.R. WOODY FUNERAL HOME, 465 High St., Burlington, NJ. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday evening, 6-8 PM, and also on Friday, from 10 AM until time of service. Interment: Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans' Memorial cemetery , Arneytown, NJ.

PRUIM, MARY A.

Delran, NJ Resident Mary A. Pruim, age 86 years, died June 20, 2001.

Formerly of Milwaukee, WI and a resident of Delran since 1959. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delanco. Wife of the late Edward. Mother of Mary G. Costa of Pennsauken, Edward G. Pruim of Campbells Port, WI, and Evelyn S. Birdsall of Sea Bright. Sister of Rose Nanninga of Chicago, IL. Grandmother of four and great-grandmother of six. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Monday from THE LANKENAU FUNERAL HOME, 303 Bridgeboro St., Riverside. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. Friends may call 12:30 to 1:30 PM, Monday, at the funeral home.

NAGLE, ALFRED E.

Palmyra, NJ Resident Alfred E. Nagle, died June 19, 2001 at his home in Palmyra.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1946. He was in the Army Air Corps from 1946-49. He was an Electronics Tech for R.C.A. Camden for 40 years, retiring in 1990. Beloved husband of Agnes M. (nee Berenty). Beloved father of Alice Nagle of Brigantine, Alfred J. (Marie) of Palmyra, Linda Gates of Palmyra, William Nagle of Palmyra, Carol (Shawn) Kremus of Cinnaminson; four grandchildren. Brother of Mary Shahade of Delanco and Joseph Nagle of Mexico. Funeral Services private at the convenience of the family. Remembrances may be made in his name to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300 Marlton, NJ 08053. PAPPAS, TULA

A Person Who Never Said No Tula Pappas was born September 23, 1930 in Charlotte, NC to immigrant parents from Greece.

Thirtyseven days later she and her mother were taken to Ellis Island and deported from the United States because of confusion as to her mother's immigrant visa status. She and her mother were accompanied by two marshals across the ocean to Greece. Fourteen years later she returned to the United States to be with her father, Aunt Jenny and her family, while her mother and sister remained in Greece until a visa became available. She received her high school diploma from Central High School in North Carolina and graduated in the top 5 of her class. Thereafter she attended college, studying journalism. After leaving college she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Charlotte until she met and married her beloved husband Nicholas Pappas. They lived in Charlotte, moved to Paterson, NJ, then to New Castle, DE and settled in Pennsauken, NJ, where they lived for 27 years and where they raised their three children. She eventually settled in Delran. In 1961, Tula, her husband Nicholas, sister Nula, and brother-in-law, Spiros Mantzas, embarked on the dream of their life to purchase and operate a restaurant, which they called Kozy Corner. Following the success of that restaurant, they purchased the old Delrando Diner in Delran, NJ and transformed it into the Dynasty Diner, which they operated for almost 30 years, retiring in January, 1997. She was a member of the St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill, NJ, the Daughters of Penelope and Philoptochos Society. During her years in Charlotte, she served as the choir director and in the early years of St. Thomas, participated in the church choir. Tula is remembered by her family and friends as a beloved person who was kind to everyone and who would never say no to anyone. To her nieces and nephews, her home had an open door and was always filled with warmth and treats. Through her kindness she helped bring her husband's brothers and sisters to the United States. Although she was devastated by the death of her son Angelo six years ago, the last several years of her life were blessed by her granddaughter Angela Nicole (her kukia), who brought her great joy and happiness. She devoted her life to her sons and greatly touched everyone who came in contact with her. Her kindness, work ethic, strength and courage serves as an inspiration to them and a testament to her life. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Pappas; sons George (CPA) and Steven; daughter-in-law, Faith; granddaughter, Angela; mother, Bessie Chukas; sister and brother-in-law, Nula and Spiros Mantzas. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews from many parts of the United States and Greece. She leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved her which is immeasurable. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service Friday, 11 AM at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church, 615 Mercer St., Cherry Hill, where friends may call after 10 AM. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park. Viewing Thursday 7-9 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church. SMITH, PAUL H.

Woodstown, NJ Resident Paul H. Smith, age 62, of Woodstown, died Friday, June 15, 2001 at SJHS-Elmer Division.

He was born in Bridgeton, NJ, son of Sarah (nee Lloyd) Smith of Woodstown and the late Harold Smith, he was a graduate of Woodstown High School, Class of 1956 and then served in the US Naval Reserve before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a Supervisor for E.I. DuPont Chamber Works in Deepwater for 33 years until his retirement in September of 1988. He was a member of the Pittsgrove Baptist Church, Daretown Volunteer Fire Company, Boy Scout Troop #60 and the Elmer Grange. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth (nee Hackett) Smith; two sons, Stephen and Brenda Smith of Middletown, Douglas and Patricia Smith of Daretown; six grandchildren, his mother, Sarah L. Smith of Woodstown; sister, Louise Smith of Columbus, NJ; and predeceased by his father, Harold Smith, in 1980. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at the H.T. LAYTON & SON HOME FOR FUNERALS, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends may call on Monday evening from 7-8:30 PM. Interment will be in Pittsgrove Baptist cemetery , Daretown. The family suggests those who wish make contributions in his memory to the American Heart Association, 2550 Rt. 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 or the American Diabetes Association, Southern Regional Chapter, 1060 Kings Highway North, Suite 309, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.

GABIG, JAMES R.

Wrightstown Resident James R. Gabig, 63, of Wrightstown, died suddenly on Monday, June 18, 2001, at home.

Born in Grove City, Pa., he was raised in the Milton Hershey School for Boys in Hershey, Pa. He lived in Germany for ten years while in the service and in Pemberton before moving to Wrightstown 18 years ago. Mr. Gabig retired in 1990 as a civil service employee at Ft. Dix after ten years of service. He also worked on a part time basis at Rex's Bar in Wrightstown and also as a crossing guard for the New Hanover School District. Prior to this, Mr. Gabig honorably served in the US Army for 22 years which included service during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Army, he received many medals and commendations including the Bronze Star Medal. He was also a Lifetime member of the VFW Post #350 of Tacoma Park, Md. He is survived by one daughter, Debra I. Gabig of Browns Mills, and one son, James R. Gabig, Jr. of Florence. Also two grandsons: Raymond E. Kline, 3rd of Browns Mills and James R. Gabig, 3rd of Florence. Also two brothers: A. John Gabig of Williamsburg, Va. and Richard Buckley of Kane, Pa.; two nieces, Laurie and Karyn, and numerous cousins and countless friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:15 A.M. at THE DENNISON FUNERAL HOME, 214 W. Front St., Florence. Officiating will be military chaplain Rick Ianniello. Interment with full military honors will be in Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery , Arneytown. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-7:30 P.M. and on Monday from 8:15-9:15 A.M. at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory are requested to UMDF (United Mitochondrial Disorder Foundation), P.O. Box 1151, Monroeville, Pa. 15146-1151.

CETRON, SHEILA

Eastampton, NJ Sheila (nee Emmerman) Cetron, suddenly on August 13, 2000.

Beloved wife of the late Harvey M. Cetron. Devoted mother of Ari S. (Holly Clifton) Cetron and Debora (Thomas) Mackow. Loving sister of Michael (Patricia) Emmerman. Cherished daughter of Leon and the late Ida (nee Levine) Emmerman. Adoring Bubbe of Tyler Andrew and Ashley Kate Mackow. Sheila was a retired music teacher who worked for many years at the Fox Learning Center, Rt. 38, Hainesport, NJ. She was a member of Temple Har Zion for many years. She was very active with her local chapter of H.O.P.E. a support group of self-help and education for widowed persons. She was active with the Ft. Dix/McGuire Jewish Congregation, also serving as it's President. She enjoyed crocheting, domestic and foreign travel and playing the piano. She was also a Registered Nurse early in her working career. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she graduated from Tilden High School, Class of 1959. She then attended Brooklyn College School of Nursing. She was an animal lover who enjoyed both cats and dogs. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a reading tutor with the Literacy Volunteers of America for several years. Relatives and friends are invited to Services 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 15, 2000, at BERSCHLER SHENBERG & BLADY F.C., 5341 State Hwy. 38 W., Pennsauken, NJ. Interment at New Cedar Park cemetery , Paramus, NJ. Shiva will be observed at her late residence.
