John Angelo Perrucci

John Angelo Perrucci, Sr., 89, of Lopatcong Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2005 at his home. Born: On April 10, 1915 in Montozzoli, Italy, he came to America at the age of nine with his parents, the late Angelomarino and Maliete Appezzatto Perrucci; growing up in Scotch Plains, NJ. Personal: He and his loving wife, the former Angelina Belardo, observed their 64th wedding anniversary on August 24, 2004. As a young man, he started various construction and quarrying companies in South Plainfield and Oxford, NJ. For many years, he operated the Oxford Stone Quarry in Oxford, NJ, including asphalt plants and sand and gravel operations. His companies were involved in the construction of Route 78 and 80 as well as various municipal roads. His greatest joy was his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Memberships: John was a member of Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg; he was a past president of UNICO of Warren County, NJ; New Jersey Asphalt Paving Association; New Jersey Concrete Association; the National Limestone Institute; he was a former member of the Phillipsburg Lions Club and Rotary Club, and was a charter member of the Italian American Club in Phillipsburg. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Angelina, he is survived by four sons, John, Angelo, Michael, and Paul; two daughters, Marie Sacco and Kathy Degan; a brother, Ernest; two sisters, Amelia Rivellini and Gloria Burke; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Three brothers, Arthur, Anthony, and Angelo, died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the church, 428 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will be in the St. Frances Mausoleum at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Alpha, NJ.

Thomas W. Schriner, Sr.

Thomas W. Schriner, Sr., 54, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Born: On February 6, 1950 in Easton, Pa., he was a son of Beatrice McPeek Schriner of Las Vegas, NV and the late Raymond Schriner. Personal: He and his wife, the former Peggy A. Attinello observed their 36th wedding anniversary in July 2004. Thomas has lived in the Easton-Phillipsburg area all of his life. He attended Easton High School. Thomas was a forklift operator for Rapp Bros. Co. in Easton for 25 years. He last worked in November 2004. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He was also an avid fisherman and NASCAR racing fan. Memberships: He was a member of the Easton Fleas Club, the Citizens Hose Co. in Easton, the West Easton Fire Co., and the Liberty Hose Co., Easton. He pitched quoits in the Easton City Quoit League and the Bushkill Valley Quoit League. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by two sons, Thomas W., Jr. and his wife, Kelly of Wilson Borough, Pa; Anthony J. and his wife Rose of West Easton, Pa; a brother, James of Arizona; two sisters, Rebecca Constentino of Las Vegas, NV, Dottie Diomedo of Martins Creek, Pa; and six grandchildren. A brother, Raymond, Jr., died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A cremation will follow. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment of cremains will be in the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township. Memorials: May be made to the charity of one's choice.

Marion Fritz Wilhelm

Marion Fritz Wilhelm, 94, formerly of Phillipsburg, passed away Friday, January 7, 2005, in the Blough Nursing Home, Bethlehem. Born: August 31, 1910, in Easton, a daughter of the late James and Mary Francis Curnow Merritt. Personal: Her first husband, Clark A. Fritz, passed away in 1975, and her second husband, Nelson E. Wilhelm, passed away in 1993. Marion was head bookkeeper for the Warren County Welfare Board in Belvidere for 30 years, retiring in 1976. She had lived in the Phillipsburg/Lopatcong area nearly all her life. She was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, class of 1928, the first class to graduate from the new high school. She enjoyed playing the piano and was very devoted to all her family. Memberships: She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Phillipsburg, for many years. She was a volunteer at Warren Hospital for 24 years, a member of the Zipper Club in Phillipsburg, the Sunny Seniors of Phillipsburg, a former member of the Lopatcong Township School Board, and the Cosmopolitan Club of the YWCA in Easton. Survivors: a son, Richard C. Fritz and his companion, Marlene, of Bethlehem; a stepson, Richard Wilhelm and his wife, Elise, of Mass.; a niece, Sherry Hallgren and her husband, Gordon; a nephew, David Nelson Hawk and his wife, Lee; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A son, James T. Fritz, passed away in 2003, an infant daughter, Linda Sue Fritz, passed away in 1946, a brother, James Merritt and a sister, Elsie Hawk, both died earlier. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call 10 a.m. to time of service Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery, Phillipsburg. Memorials: to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 500 Hillcrest Blvd., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 or to Lopatcong Township Emergency Squad, 1301 Belvidere Road, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.

William Shandor

William Shandor, 90, of Harmony Township, N.J., passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005, in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg. Born: June 16, 1914 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Louis and Mary Veres Shandor. Personal: William was a retired farmer and artificial insemination technician for Curtiss Breeding Service and Select Sires Breeding Service. He also owned and operated his own saw mill in Harmony Township. He was responsible for representing the district in its sponsorship of the Pequest River Pilot Drainage Project, the first of its kind in the entire country. He represented the district on the then Merrill Creek Watershed Project. He was instrumental in starting the Warren County Soil Conservation Service, where he served as chairman, vice chairman, and supervisor for fifty years. He also served as the district's representative to Resources Conservation and Development and attended all annual state, regional, and national association meetings. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1932. He and his wife, the former Freida Stryker, observed their 61st wedding anniversary on June 26, 2004. Memberships: He was a member of St. James Lutheran, (Straw) Church, Pohatcong Township, N.J. He was a member of Rocksburgh Grange #116 for 55 years, a member of Phillipsburg Lodge #52, Free and Accepted Masons for over 50 years, and Warren County Forest #14 Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was a charter and life member of the Harmony Township Volunteer Fire Company. He served on the Harmony Township Board of Adjustment from the time it began until it was disbanded. Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ruth McLain and her husband, Frank, of Harmony Township, N.J.; two grandsons, James "Jamie" McLain and his wife, Diane, and Christopher McLain and his wife, Jessica, and two great grandchildren, Katelyn and Christopher, Jr. Four brothers, Louis, Louis, Jr., Paul and Joseph, and two sisters, Mary Piperatta and Helen Moser, all died earlier. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran cemetery, Pohatcong Township. Memorials: Contributions may be made to the church, 1213 U.S Hwy 22, the fire company, Brainards Road, or to the Lopatcong Township Emergency Squad, 1301 Belvidere Road, all in Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.

Henry Alan Hawk

Henry Alan Hawk, 80, of Stewartsville, N.J., passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005, in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg. Born: August 17, 1924, in Stewartsville, he was a son of the late Henry I. and Gladys Van Duyne Hawk. Personal: Henry was a builder and carpenter in the Phillipsburg area for 25 years. Prior to that, he worked for Robert Fehr, builder, in Phillipsburg. He retired in 1990. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his dog, Belle. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and beekeeping. He and his wife, the former Helen F. Kinkel, observed their 59th wedding anniversary on January 3rd. Memberships: He was a member of Stewartsville Presbyterian Church and a trustee of the Stewartsville Presbyterian cemetery Association. He was a 50 year member of Phillipsburg Lodge #52, Free and Accepted Masons, where he had been a member of the former Masonic Bowling League. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Central Jersey, and Warren County Forest #14 Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was a life member of the Easton Fleas Club, a charter member and past commander of Mecsey Bishop American Legion Post #456, Stewartsville, past president of the Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Co., a member of AARP, the Seniors of Stewartsville, Greenwich Sportsman Association, and Pohatcong Valley Semi-Wild Gun Club. Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John Alan Hawk and his wife, Heidi, of Stewartsville; a daughter, Shirley Sue Rush and her husband, Jonathan, of Mt. Bethel, Pa.; two sisters, Edith Burcaw, of Phillipsburg, and Gertrude Fleming, of North Fort Meyers, Fla.; five grandchildren, John, Jr., Erik and Mark Hawk, and Edward and Wendy Hoadley, and two great grandchildren, Payton Hawk and Justin Hoadley. A brother, Douglas, died earlier. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Masonic services at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Stewartsville Presbyterian cemetery. Carroll E. Myer

Carroll E. Myer, 68, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Warren Hospital. Born: On July 3, 1936 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas P., Jr. and Florence Carroll Bullman. Personal: She has lived in the Phillipsburg area all of her life. Carroll was a medical records clerk for Dr. Sharma in Easton for the last seven years. She last worked in October 2004. Before that, she was a medical records clerk for Dr. Viroja in Alpha, NJ. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School class of 1954. Memberships: She attended the Epworth United Methodist Church in Bethlehem, Pa. She was a member of the AARP. Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Kevin L., at home; John C. and his wife, Tammi, also at home; two daughters, Lorrie R. of Phillipsburg, Karen L. Eldridge and her husband, Dale of Phillipsburg; a brother, Thomas Bullman of Phillipsburg; three sisters, Lois L. Bullman of Phillipsburg, Joan L. Spence of Hawley, Pa., Marsha L. Kleedorfer of Nazareth, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Anna, Sara, and Jena Myer, Erik, Kyle, and Sean Eldridge, and Keith Myer. She is also survived by her Lab and best friend, Spot. Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery, Phillipsburg. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her family in care of the funeral home.

Kathryn Schisler

Kathryn Schisler, 89, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth, where she has been a resident since February 2003. Born: On March 26, 1915 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Mykytiw Veres. She had lived in the Phillipsburg area all of her life. Personal: Her husband of 66 years, Richard "Dick" C. Schisler, passed away December 5, 2003. Kathryn had been head bookkeeper for the former Spring Crest Beverage Co., in Phillipsburg. She also had worked at the F.W. Woolworth Co., in Easton. Memberships: She was a member of Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg. She was also a volunteer at Warren Hospital for many years. Survivors: She is survived by three daughters, Marie Thomas and her husband Richards of Bonita Springs, Fl, Nancy Smolock and her husband, Michael of Wilson Borough, Pa., Susan Grube and her husband Kevin of Easton, Pa.; two brothers, Nicholas Veres and his wife, Florence, and George Veres, Jr. and his wife, Louise, both of Phillipsburg.; six granddaughters; three grandsons; seven great granddaughters; and two step great grandsons. Three brothers, Joseph, Michael, and John Veres, and two sisters, Mary Browers, and Anna Greechan, died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg; followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the church, 430 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ss. Philip and James cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church, 430 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865; or to the Volunteer Program of Gracedale Nursing Home, Gracedale Ave., Nazareth, Pa.

Frank Santo DeFrancesco, Jr.

Frank Santo DeFrancesco, Jr., 50, of Easton, Pa., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in Easton Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born: On October 11, 1954, in Easton, Pa., he was a son of Nancy DeFrancesco of Easton, and the late Frank S. DeFrancesco, Sr. Personal: Frank and his wife, the former Terry A. Grube, were married for 28 years. Frank has lived in Easton all of his life. Frank had worked for the Elizabethtown Gas Co. in New Village, NJ for the last 18 years. Prior to that, for the last 10 years he worked at the Family Liquor Store and the Ingersoll-Rand Co. in Phillipsburg. He also worked for the Easton Area School District, A & D Tile and Paint Up Co., and Pips Distributors, all of Easton. He graduated from Easton High School, Class of 1972. He had many hobbies, such as golf, quoits, motorcycle riding, poker games on Saturdays, slots, crosswords, the Daily Jumble, lottery tickets, going to Atlantic City, traveling, and socializing with his many many friends and family, especially the daily breakfast club meetings. Frank S. DeFrancesco, Jr. was and always will be a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop, not only loving to his family, but to his extended family, his friends as well. We will never forget and always cherish the moments we all had with Frank. Everyone who has met and knows Frank is familiar with what the family speaks of, so thank you Frank for all the lives that you have touched and helped. We will always have you in our hearts. Memberships: Frank was a lifetime member of the Easton Order of the Fleas, the Citizens Hose Co., Safety First Fire Co., and the Phillipsburg Italian American Social Clubs. He was an avid bowler for the Fleas where he belonged to the Frankie DeFrancesco, Sr. Memorial League. He also bowled on Wednesday night at Warren Lanes in Phillipsburg. Survivors: In addition to his mother, Nancy, and his wife, Terry, he is survived by a son, Frank Santo DeFrancesco III, his fiancee', Jill Kish, and their son and his only grandson, Frank Santo DeFrancesco IV; a sister, Marianne Schweitzer, her husband, Duane Duffy, and their son, Frank's nephew, Ross; a brother, Bartolo T. and his wife, Peggy of Altmar, NY; a niece, Dr. Christina DeFrancesco of Philadelphia; and a nephew, Bartolo, Jr. and his wife, Rita, of Easton; and their son, Frank's great nephew, Donte. Services: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery in Phillipsburg. Adele S. Clymer

Adele Susan Clymer, 85, of Delaware Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at her home. Born: On January 17, 1920 in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Frank W. and Myrtle Leetz Keenan. Personal: Her husband, Earl C., Sr., passed away in 1989. She was a homemaker and had lived in Delaware Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ for 63 years. Adele was proud to have been one of the first women to be part of the Lopatcong Township Emergency Squad. She attended Washington, NJ High School and was of the Episcopal faith. Her life revolved around her family; her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Memberships: She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Delaware Park Fire Company. She was an avid bowler and at one time she bowled in several bowling leagues. Survivors: She is survived by a son, Earl C., Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Delaware Park, Lopatcong Twp; a daughter, Barbara A. Meixsell and her husband, Carl, with whom she resided; six grandchildren, Carl C., Robert E., Sarah E. Meixsell, Earl C., III, Jennifer E., and Joshua M. Clymer; six great grandchildren, Carl R., Bradley, Paige E., and Trevor J. Meixsell, Christina N. and Sarah G. Clymer. Three brothers, Warren F., Daniel L., and Albert M. Keenan, Sr., and a sister, Emma Wright, died earlier. Services: Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Fairmount cemetery, Phillipsburg, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lopatcong Township Emergency Squad, 1301 Belvidere Rd., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865; or to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860.

George C. Mills

George C. Mills, 92, formerly of Delaware Park, Lopatcong Township, and Palmer Township, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2005, in the Lutheran Home at Topton, Pa. Born: June 17, 1912 in Springtown, Pa., he was a son of the late Craven and Sarah Davis Mills. Personal: George was a tool and dye maker at Ingersoll-Rand Company, Phillipsburg for 35 years until his retirement in 1977. He was also a butcher part time at the former Del-Crest Market in Lopatcong Township. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and participated in the Normandy Invasion. Memberships: He was a member of Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, Phillipsburg for many years. He was also a 50 year member of Phillipsburg Lodge #52 of Free and Accepted Masons Warren County Forest #14, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Brown and Lynch American Legion Post, Palmer Township, and the Easton Fleas Club. In addition, he was an exempt fireman of the Delaware Park Fire Company. Survivors: His wife, the former Margaret Kaniper, a guest at the Lutheran Home at Topton, Pa.; a daughter, Dorothy M. Phillips, and her husband, Tom, of Oneida, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Wade Phillips and his wife, Ginger, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Lori Phillips Jones and her husband, Phillip, of Oneida, Tenn.; two great grandchildren, Alex and Claire Jones, of Oneida, Tenn.; many nieces, nephews, and friends. His first wife, the former Marion Van Norman, passed away in 1956. All four of his sisters, Beulah, Sarah, Anna, and Ruth, and his brother, David W. Mills, Sr. and his wife, Ethel, all died earlier as well. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Vernell O. Dennis

Vernell O. Dennis, 85, of Greenwich Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2005 at her home. Born: On March 6, 1919 in Camden, NC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Sykes Harris. Personal: She has lived in Greenwich Twp. for six years. Prior to that, she lived in Brooklyn, NY. Vernell had been a home health aide in New York. Memberships: She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Easton. She was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors: She is survived by four grandchildren, Kenneth, Lawrence, and Denise Chatman, and Deborah Greene, with whom she resided; 24 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A daughter, Phyllis Chatman, died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Mount Holiness Memorial Park in Butler, NJ.
