ROBERTA "RUBY" LERMA CUESTAS, 53, of Santa Fe died unexpectedly Saturday.
She was born in 1951 to Joe "Nick" Lerma and Cecilia Rosina Gurule Lerma. Her love for children inspired her to work for Santa Fe Public Schools for 17 years. She also was employed at Furr's grocery store while working with the school district. For the last seven years, she took care of her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church and recently joined the F.O.E. She loved to camp with family and friends. She organized all the family functions and loved to cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her son, Paul J. Carrillo; and mother, Cecilia Lerma.
She is survived by her husband, Ramon Cuestas; daughters, Angel and husband, Anthony Lujan, Denise and husband, Pat Lujan; five grandchildren; father, Joe "Nick" Lerma and friend Lorraine Zamora; sisters, Lorraine Lovato, Joann and her husband, Jeff Dieringer, and Janice and her husband, Abel Luevano; brothers, Joey and his wife, Michelle Lerma; Tim Lerma and, Cindy; special friend Becky Vigil; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to Wells Fargo Bank, account No. 3003319013.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at the same church with burial to follow at Rosario cemetery.

CAROLINE DOLORES McAVOY , 82, of Santa Fe died.
She was born in Pennsylvania. Her claim to fame was her son and daughter, and a passel of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She traveled extensively through Europe and the Virgin Islands. She also lived in many states, saying each one was her favorite. She settled in Santa Fe with fond memories of having stayed at La Fonda.
She was preceded in death by her three husbands, James Abernathy, Carroll Guiles and Ted Plumb.
She requested to be cremated and to have a private burial.

MARGARET WOOD, 89, of Wagon Mound died Wednesday at the Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born in La Cirguela to the late Juan Martinez and Donicia Baca Martinez. She was married in 1935 to the late Jessie L. Wood. She was a member of the Eastern Star and loved to quilt, crochet and cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Domingo Martinez, Julio Martinez and Andy Pacheco.
She is survived by her children, Margie Woods and husband, Floyd of Wagon Mound; Laura Bransom and husband, Chuck, of Dumas, Texas; John Wood and wife, Sandy, of Amarillo, and Elaine Whitlow and husband, Bill, of Conway, Ark.; siblings, Mela Medina of Wagon Mound; Julia Marquez and husband, John, of Phoenix; Becky Epley and husband, Bob, of Mesa, Ariz.; Carlos Pacheco and wife, Oralia, of Camp Verde, Ariz.; Phyllis Archuleta and husband, Juan, of Montezuma; Juan Martinez, Santana Martinez and Nick Martinez, all of Manzanola, Colo., Alfred Martinez and wife, Flora, of Pueblo, Colo.; Ernesto Martinez and wife, Val, of Surprise, Ariz., Virginia Lucero and husband, Ted, of Manzanola, Colo., and Dorothy Hernandez and husband Alonzo of Lamar, Colo.; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Channing Cemetery in Channing, Texas.

FRED M. FISHER, 52, of Santa Fe died Thursday.
He was born in South Charleston, W.Va. He was married to Marge Fuhrmann of Muenster, Texas in 1983. He was employed by Los Alamos National Laboratory as a technical staff member in water quality and hydrology, and previously worked for Hollomon AFB as lead water-quality manager and as associate professor at New Mexico State University. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Indiana, and his doctorate from the University of New Mexico. He was a member of the Ecological Society of America as senior ecologist, Soil Science Society of America and the Nature Conservancy since 1987. He was an outgoing, energetic, loving husband, father, son and friend. He enjoyed hiking, skiing and playing basketball. He was interested in travel, history and teaching.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred.
He is survived by his wife, Marge; son, Nathan and wife Christie of Seattle; mother, Jane and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association or to the Nature Conservancy.
A public viewing and services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Berardinelli's of Santa Fe, followed by a memorial at 4 p.m.

MARGARET J. MASCARENAS, 93, of Caņon died Saturday.
She attended Highlands University and was a graduate of the College of Swedish Massage in Chicago. She was a well-known masseuse for over 56 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart League.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Mascarenas, and son, Michael Mascarenas.
She is survived by her sister, Julia Jaramillo; brothers, Julian and Lourdes Jaramillo; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at Las Cruces Cemetery.

CLORINDA CHAVEZ MARTINEZ, 87, of Santa Fe died Saturday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Celedonio "C.O." Martinez and parents, Manuel and Rose Chavez.
She is survived by her daughter, Beulah Bullard and husband Dewey of Santa Fe; special friend Charlene Martinez; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. today at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community Church, with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

DOLORES B. MARTINEZ, 91, of Santa Fe since 1951, died Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born in Mora to Jose and Avelina Bernal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avenicio C. Martinez and daughter, Mary Ida Garcia.
She is survived by her son, Benny B. Martinez and wife Helen; daughters, Emma Dolen, Evelyn Ware and Lucille Morris and husband Tom; 21 grandchildren; and many other relatives in New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
