JOSEPHINE SANCHEZ, 80, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday at her daughter's home in Golondrinas after a long illness.
She was born in Anton Chico to the late Ezequiel Sena and Antonia Berniger. She was married to Benjamin Sanchez in Anton Chico in 1941. She operated the Sanchez Boarding Home for 16 years, worked at the Javal Parachute Factory and was a housekeeper at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. She loved to cook for family and friends, can, bake, sew, quilt and enjoyed spending time at the ranch. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezequiel and Antonia Sena; husband, Benjamin Sanchez; sons, Ralph Sanchez and Ben Sanchez and three brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Ashe and husband, Patrick, of Golondrinas; son, Gerald Sanchez of Las Vegas, N.M.; eight grandchildren; brother, Augustine Sena and wife Josephine of Albuquerque, special cousin, Elena Lucero and husband Walter of Las Vegas, N.M.; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

WAYNE EMMONS MOTAH, 69, of Santa Clara Pueblo died Tuesday from a sudden illness.
He was a retired Air Force veteran. He served as a deacon and elder at Victory Faith Church where he attended services. He was an active community member.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Motah of Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Motah; children, Norman Motah, Timothy Motah, Mary Motah and Dee Cartier; six grandchildren: mother, Daisy Burgess; brothers and sisters, Jolene Gutierrez of Santa Clara, Sandra Karty, Ruth Toathy, Carol Kahrahrah, Hammon Motah, Gaylon Motah, Barbara Dankawski, Martha Burgess, Betty Luna, Jessie Meñderosa, Pat Ramos, Earl Burgess, Ronald Burgess, Donald Burgess and Teddy Burgess, all of Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.

SOTERO MANUEL OLIVAS, 37, died unexpectedly Monday.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sirenio Jose Olivas.

MARIE R. PENNINGTON, 83, of Sunshine Valley died unexpectedly Sunday.
She was the daughter of John Ambrose and Lucy Rader. She and her husband had resided in Silver City for 35 years and were owners of the Broadway Supermarket and Pennington Brothers Grocery Wholesale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Forester" Pennington.
She is survived by her daughter, Marion Williams of Sunshine Valley; two grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

CONCHA PARRAZ ARGUELLO, 59, died after a long illness at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
She retired from the state of New Mexico in 1987. She was an avid sports person and a member of the F.O.E. She enjoyed camping, traveling and visiting with her close friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vicente Parraz; and brother, Frank Pancho Parraz.

JEREMIAH LEE BIRD died November 5 in San Diego.
He was a native of Albuquerque. He was active duty U.S. Navy as a DC2 stationed in San Diego. After two West-Pac tours aboard the U.S.S. Peleliu, he received orders to serve as an instructor at the Naval Fire Fighting Training Center in San Diego. His love for firefighting was equaled only by the love for his family. He was known for his smile, sharing his knowledge and making many contributions.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea; son, Aaron of Santee, Calif.; dad, Brian Bird of Albuquerque; mother, Kathy Wild of Aztec; siblings, Trish, Matthew and Molly, all of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends.
