CORA CHAVEZ
Cora Chavez, 70, passed away March 27, 2006.
Cora was born May 17, 1935, in La Madera, N.M. She was raised in Santa Fe until she met the man of her life and proceeded to spend the next 49 years of her life as a resident of Stanley. Cora was a woman of enormous faith and a dedicated and loving wife of 49 years to her husband, Clyde Chavez.
Cora was a caring and loving mother to her four children, Ray Chavez of Riverside, Calif., Jamie Chavez and wife, Bernadette, of Stanley, Helen Waldorf and husband, Guy, of Stanley and Marcella Aragon and husband, Tommy, of Moriarty. Her grandchildren, Claudia Chavez, David Chavez, Samantha Chavez, Sara Chavez, Joshua Aragon, John Chavez, Morgan Aragon, Hayden Waldorf and Paige Waldorf, were the apple of her eye.
Cora was a domestic engineer who completely devoted her entire life to raising her children and grandchildren while providing a warm and loving home for her husband, Clyde. Cora was proud to be a founding member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church Altar Society.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her parents, Juan and Cirilia Cardenas; one brother, Manuel; and a sister, Barbara.
Cora also leaves behind her sisters and brothers, Flora Martinez and husband, Cipriano, Junior Cardenas, Cecilia Cardenas, Lillian Romero and husband, Joe, Agnes Alarid, Elizabeth Vigil and husband, Mike, Christina Griego and husband, Steve, and Johnny Cardenas and wife, Joanne.
A Rosary was recited Tuesday and Mass was celebrated Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty. Burial followed at the Stanley cemetery.

FLORENCE HAGER
Florence Hager, 79, a longtime resident of Tijeras, died March 28, 2006 in the mountain home she loved so much, following a lengthy illness.
At the time of her death she was surrounded by her husband, children, granddaughters and other family members.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Willard Hager of Tijeras; son, Walter Zeiher and wife Betty of Edgewood; daughter, Tina Gleason and husband Ken of Edgewood; grandchildren, Sondra Burch and husband Gary of Tijeras, Darlene Forney and husband Jeff of Edgewood, Donna Gleason of Edgewood, Kim Barr and husband Rick of Albuquerque and Donald Byers of Albuquerque; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. April 1 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE in Albuquerque, with Rev. Kenneth A. Gleason officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE.
Friends may visit at French Mortuary's Lomas Blvd. Chapel on March 31 from 5 until 8 p.m.

MARILYN JANICE AUTREY
Marilyn Janice Autrey, 69, of Willard passed away March 19, 2006 at home with her loving family beside her.
Marilyn was born Jan. 28, 1937, in Center, Colo., to Hobert C. and Leota Leona (Bartee) Applegate. She married James C. Autrey on Dec. 25, 1955, in Estancia. Marilyn served as the Torrance County Treasurer for 17 years. She also served the New Mexico Association of Counties on the board of directors. She was active in the First Baptist Church in Mountainair as a Sunday school teacher and was part of the choir for 50 years.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, James Autrey of the home; son, Randy Lee Autrey and wife Lori Alison of Estancia; daughters, Linda Rashell Kayser and husband Gary of Mountainair, Carolyn Fay Barncastle and husband Philip of Las Cruces, and Sharolyn Kay Johnson and husband Doug of Fort Sumner; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. All who knew and loved Marilyn will miss her.
A funeral service will be held today at the First Baptist Church in Mountainair at 2 p.m. Marilyn's cousin, David Keiry, will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Mountainair Cemetery in Mountainair.

NIKO KELLY
Niko Kelly, 35, a beloved mother and daughter, passed away March 5, 2006.
She was a lifelong resident of the East Mountains. She leaves behind a loving and grieving family as well as many dear and loving friends.
A private memorial will take place on March 18 at noon. For details contact the family.

BECKY "SUE" LUTHER
Becky "Sue" Luther, 66, of Mountainair passed away March 8, 2006 at home with her loving family beside her.
Sue was born Jan. 26, 1940, to John and Lucille (Tucker) Harless. She married Bill T. Luther on April 6, 1958, in Estancia. Sue worked as the business manager for the Mountainair Public Schools for 27 years. She was also an auxiliary firefighter for 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Luther of the home; daughters, Melody Connell and husband, Wayne, of Gran Quivira and Billie Sue Luther of Santa Fe; sister, Mae Brazfield of Mountainair; four grandchildren, Colvin, Vanessa, Matthew and Britney; one great-grandchild, Darren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille Harless; sisters, Helen Harless, Pelma Medders and Christine Lowe; and two brothers, Jimmy Harless and John A. Harless.
Sue will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. All who knew and loved Sue will miss her.
A funeral was held Saturday at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Mountainair with Clifford Chisum officiating. Interment was at the Mountainair Cemetery in Mountainair.
The family requests donations be made in Sue's name to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130.

FAYE TOWNSEND
Faye Townsend, 73, a former resident of Estancia, passed away at her home in Moab, Utah, on Feb. 26, 2006.
She was active in the Kitchen Band at the Senior Center, a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Faye is survived by her husband, Buster Townsend of Moab; four daughters, Saundra Souza and Becky Taylor of Moab, and Debbie Crager and Bobbie (Greg) Patterson of Reno, Nev.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her mother, Ivy Gates; and sister, Fran (Ray) Townsend of Moab.
Her winning smile and gracious love of people will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service was held Friday at the Moab First Baptist Church.

ANDREW BOWKER
Andrew Bowker, 25, of Edgewood passed away Feb. 27, 2006 in Carlsbad, Calif.
Andrew was born March 18, 1980, to Bryan Richard and Ruth Anne (Woolley) Bowker. Andrew was a member of Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout. He was a New Mexico High School Super Computer Challenge winner as well as a volunteer firefighter for the Edgewood Fire Department, a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a software engineer contractor for Sandia National Laboratory, an avid mountain biker and outdoorsman.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Bryan and Anne Bowker; brothers, Kurt Bowker and wife Kristine of Moriarty, John Bowker of Albuquerque and Christopher Bowker of Albuquerque; his grandmother, Ruth Woolley of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many friends.
Andrew will be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral was held Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church in Edgewood with President Virgil Higgins officiating. Interment was at the Mountain Valley Cemetery in Edgewood.
The family requests donations be made to the Andrew Bowker Memorial Fund, Great Southwest Council, Boy Scouts of America, 5841 Office Blvd, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
