JAMES E. ROMERO, 39, of Truchas died Saturday. He was proceded in death by his father, Juan S. Romero; and brother, Ronald J. Romero.
He is survived by his children, Stephen, Amery and Britny Romero; mother of his children, Joyce Romero, all of Truchas; mother, Donna F. Romero of Albuquerque; brother, Delbert D. Romero and wife Jill of Truchas, sisters, Beverly B. Romero of Albuquerque, Sylvia A. Campos of Santa Fe and Michelle D. Casaus of Albuquerque; half sister, Laurel Davies Romero of La Puebla; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas with burial to follow at the Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas.

ALFREDO TALAMANTE, 79, of Lumberton died Saturday in Dulce from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Angelita Talamante; and sons, Gerald and Steven Talamante.
He is survived by a son, Marcos Talamante of Medanales; daughter, Lori Talamante of Medanales; three brothers; four sisters; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 tonight at the San Antonio Church in Medanales.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the same church with burial to follow at the San Antonio Cemetery in Medanales. Block-Salazar Mortuary, (505) 753-2288.

ANTONIO JESUS LOPEZ, 1 month, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Sunday at Northeastern Regional Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his great aunt, Tita; and paternal great-great-grandparents, Ramon and Eufelia Sanchez and Manuel and Sofia Saiz. He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Sanchez; father, Ernest Chavez; maternal grandparents, Ramon and Theresa Sanchez of Las Vegas, N.M.; paternal grandparents, Henrietta Mares of Raton and Orlando Lopez of Las Vegas, N.M.; cousin, Santiago Jose Lopez of Las Vegas, N.M.; great-grandparents, Porfiria Salas of Las Vegaas, N.M., and Florencio Salas of Albuquerque and Arcenio and Mary Sanchez of Trementina; and many other relatives. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Nelson Funeral Home, 425-6551.

CHARLES FELIX MYNAUGH, 85, of Pajarito Acres died Thursday. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked as a machinist. He was employed part time at the Los Alamos Monitor and at Metzger's Store. He loved animals and was forever adopting strays. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Cleotilde De Grief Mynaugh; brother, Raymond Mynaugh; and sister, Katherine Mynaugh. He is survived by his wife, Adela R. Mynaugh; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary R. Marquez, Ben Romo and wife Pat, Alice Romo and Dale Bartz; and many other relatives. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 984-8600.

FILOMENA V. GONZALES, 90, of El Rito died Saturday after a short illness.
She was a resident of El Rito for the last 15 years and resided with her daughter, Eva Baldonado. She was a resident of Canjilon for most of her life. She liked to sew, work in the garden, cook and read the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amarante Valdez; second husband, Diego Gonzales; parents, Jose and Gertrudes Miera; daughter, Julia Lopez; son, Elizardo Valdez; brothers, Ruben, Waldo, Florentino and Epifanio; and sisters, Adriana and Cordilia.
She is survived by her daughters, Eva Baldonado of El Rito, Tina Rivera and husband Leo of Canjilon, and Gertrudes Portillo and husband Oscar of Albuquerque; sons, Juan Valdez and wife Rose and Antonio Valdez and wife Teddy, all of Canjilon; 33 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a devotional service to be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the same chapel with burial to follow at Canjilon Cemetery.

VIRGIL D. GUTIERREZ, 85, of Gardiner died Sunday.
He attended schools and graduated high school in Raton. He graduated from junior college in Portales and worked his way through junior college by helping build dormitories. After graduation, he worked in Tucumcari, Santa Rosa and Raton teaching furniture making. He was inducted into the armed forces in 1942 and served for 31/2 years in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. Afterward, he attended college at New Mexico Highlands University, where he obtained a bachelor's and a master's degrees in mathematics, school administration and guidance counseling. He began teaching in Taos in 1949. He taught math for 34 years at Taos High School and also served as a guidance counselor and high school principal. He was a council member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Ercilia Gutierrez; and niece, Olivia Rodriguez.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Gutierrez; daughter, Kathleen; granddaughters, Caitlin and Julia Roake, son, Marcus; brothers, Garfield and Hubert Gutierrez; and many other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his name to Mountain Home Health Hospice, P.O Box 2566 Taos, N.M. 87571 or to the charity of your choice.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to be held at 1 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

MARY ARROQUI JUARROS, 94, died Sunday at Northeastern Regional Hospital.
She worked for the Wagon Mound Schools for 17 years and after retirement worked as a cook for the Wagon Mound Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the ladies club in Wagon Mound and an active member of the Santa Clara Parish. For the past 10 years she had lived with her daughter in Las Vegas, N.M. She loved playing cards, crocheting, watching soap operas, eating out and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Pedro Etchevarry; mother, Juanita Arroqui Carricaburo; and second husband Ricardo Juarros.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Baning of Riddle, Ore., Evelyn Juarros and husband Eddie Gallegos of Las Vegas, N.M., Edna Juarros Aragon and husband Juan of Roswell; and sons, Richard Juarros and wife Lois of Phoenix, Louis Juarros and wife Nora of Tucson, and Dennis Juarros and wife Elaine of Santa Fe.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with cremation to follow with a private burial of her cremains to take place at the Wagon Mound Cemetery.

MARGARET KILGARLIN, 63, of Santa Fe died Monday after a long battle with cancer.
As a student at Saint Agnes Academy in Houston, she was a member of the National Honor Society and was editor of the school newspaper. She was an accomplished clothes designer, making virtually all of her own clothing and having outfitted the cast of two community opera productions in Austin during her 12-year residency before moving to Santa Fe. She was a gourmet cook and wine connoisseur, belonging to both the Austin and Santa Fe branches of the International Wine and Food Society, as well as the Santa Fe Chaine des Rotisseurs. She was devoted to promotion of the arts, having won an award as a top fundraiser for the Houston Symphony Orchestra, having served on the board of directors of the Zachary Scott Theatre (where she also designed the costumes for the usherettes) in Austin, and having served on the board of directors of Pro Musica in Santa Fe. After moving to Santa Fe, she took up painting as a hobby, and her house is adorned by her paintings and other multi media designs. Even before reaching voting age, Margaret was attracted to politics, becoming a Kennedy Girl in the 1960 campaign, in which she made her own costume and that of other volunteers. At age 21, she became a Democratic precinct committee chair in Houston. She subsequently served as president of the Bayou City Democratic Women's Club. Margaret won public speaking awards while a member of Toastmistress International. She was an elegant hostess, sponsoring benefits at her Austin home, the Pemberton Castle, and at her home in Santa Fe. These groups included the Santa Fe Opera Guild, the Santa Fe Opera Opening Night festivities dinners, Santa Fe Pro Musica, the lawyers and staff of her husband's firm, Popp & Ikard, for six consecutive Christmas dinners, and in Austin, receptions for the American Civil Liberties Union, for the Supreme Court briefing attorneys and for the Young Democratic Clubs of Texas. She moved to Austin in 1982 after her husband was named to the Supreme Court of Texas, and then moved to Santa Fe in 1994.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. Kruppa, Sr. and Rosie Jelinek Kruppa; and sister, Elizabeth Eberlein.
She is survived by her husband, William W. Kilgarlin; brother, Joseph E. Kruppa and his wife Ellen Cunningham-Kruppa of Austin; sisters, Rose Marie Harris, and Judge Patricia Hancock, both of Houston; and many other relatives.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel, 1399 Luisa St. in Santa Fe. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same chapel. An additional service will be held at 2 p.m. in Austin, Texas, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar Friday. Thereafter, she will be buried at the Texas State Cemetery, 909 Navasota St., Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund, Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society, 1920 Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe, N.M. 87505. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service. 984-8600.
