Donald Raymond Hamilton passed away at home early Friday, April 25, 2003. 2-19-29 - 4-25-03 Oldest son of Raymond Whittier Hamilton and Elizabeth Slattery Hamilton Born in Denver Colorado. Moved to California when a youth, graduated from Topeka High School, Topeka, Kansas. After a 2 year tour of duty with U. S. Army, Don returned to Topeka and married Virginia Woodward on February 20, 1954. After graduation from Washburn University with a BA in Accounting, Don was employed by Sears Roebuck and, transferred to Santa Fe in 1964 as controller of the downtown Sears store. Don's last 25 years of employment were with the New Mexico State Corporation Commission, retiring in December 1990. The last few years he helped distribute commodities for the Senior Centers. Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia, of 49 years, four adored children - Cynthia Mae Chambers and husband, Robert of Colorado Springs, CO, Jean Elizabeth Taylor and husband, Michael of Santa Fe, Douglas Wade and wife, Libby Butler Hamilton of Las Cruces, and Stuart Raymond Hamilton and AnnMarie Lynch of Santa Fe. The lights of his life were his wife, children, their spouses and his grandchildren: Chad, Tiffany, Scott, and Kimberly Chambers; Eva, Danielle, Sarah, and Michael Taylor; and Derrek and Amelia Hamilton. He also leaves his brothers, Theodore Hamilton and wife, Patricia of Las Vegas, NV and Patrick Hamilton of Alba, TX.; and many nieces and nephews scattered all over the country. Donald was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of all who knew and loved him. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. Joseph Leon Hienz "Joe ", 47, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2003 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his father, Wenand Phillip Heinz and his mother, Phyllis R. Heinz. Joseph is survived by his girlfriend, Patricia Lucero; brothers, Jacob Heinz and wife, Toni, Manuel Myers and wife, Betty, Henry Myers and wife, Roberta; sisters, Isabel Heinz-Montano and husband, Ned, Mona Morris and husband, John and sister Lourdes Myers; 21 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews and several friends. Joe will be remembered for his creative artistic talent and his great sense of humor. Joe served in the Army and was a Hercules Missile Crewman where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a rosary to be recited by Rosela Maldonado following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Manuel Viera on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rosie Horn, 62, a resident of San Antonio formerly of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 24, 2003. Mrs. Tillie Jirol, passed away Wednesday at the age of 83. She is survived by three daughters, Annie Lopez and husband, Tom, Dorothy Martinez and husband, Richard, Laura Jirol and Sam Romero, all of Albuquerque; two sisters-in-law, Laura Gutierrez and husband, Nick of California, and Anita Gonzales and husband, Tony, of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated on Monday 9:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will fallow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Eli Martinez, Thomas Lopez Jr., Keven Lopez, and Fred Hernandez. George is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Nancy Kitchen of Rio Rancho, NM, his son Thomas Kitchen of Bryan, TX, his daughter Kathleen Champignon of Bridgewater, NJ, three grandchildren, Jay of Albuquerque, NM, and Chris and David of Bridgewater, NJ, brother John K. Kitchen of Bedminster, NJ, Edward F. Kitchen of Jeffersonton, VA and his sister Joanne C. Murray of Barnegat Light, NJ. George is a graduate of Holy Spirit High School, Atlantic City, NJ Class of 1942. He attended Drexel Institute of Technology. His undergraduate work was interrupted by World War II where George served in the Army's 103rd Cactus Infantry Division. George received four bronze stars for service in the Rhineland, Central Europe, Rome-Arno, and Southern France campaigns. He returned to finish his college studies at Drexel and Penn State Universities earning degrees in Petroleum and Chemical Engineering. George was employed by Atlantic Refining in Philadelphia, PA from 1948 to 1955. He then became supervisor of the Fuels and Lubrication research at Bell Telephone Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ until 1982. At his retirement, he was recognized for having introduced new lubricants and lubricant practices that improved the reliability of an enormous variety of equipment. He was a pioneer in using solid lubricants, especially PTFE and molybdenum disulfide for applications ranging from the Telstar antenna to undersea systems. Of particular significance, were his studies on the stabilization of stored fuels, which have made perpetual storage possible. George retired to Rio Rancho where he co-founded International Lubrication and Fuel Consultants Inc. with his wife Nancy in July 1982 to continue working in his field. The company has developed several patents relating to fuel additives and testing procedures He was a lifetime member of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers. In 1966 he received this society's Wilber Deutsch
Memorial Award and served as President from 1986 to 1987. He also was an active member of ASTM International for over 30 years and was currently working on cathodic protection standards for underground storage tanks. George was a vibrant community leader and servant who led by example. He was a historian and board member of the Telephone Pioneer Museum of New Mexico since its inception in downtown Albuquerque in 1997. The Museum, a project of retirees from AT&T, US West, and Lucent Technologies, celebrates the history of the telephone communications industry. As a member of the Lions Club, George prominently served the organization in many capacities. His Lions career started when he joined the Albuquerque Northwest Lions Club, which today is the Rio Rancho Host Club. He was president from 1987-1988. He was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship in 1991 for his outstanding humanitarian services. He served as 40N District Governor, 1997-1998 and the state Multiple Council Chairman 2000-2001. During his term as Governor he ran the first Charity Ball in Rio Rancho to benefit the New Mexico Lions Eye Foundation. He department and Lions to bring Diabetes testing along with eye screening to rural areas of New Mexico. George was a member of the Edelweiss AM, the Rio Grande German American Club. Through the year he brought many of Rio Rancho's charity organizations together for the fundraising Oktoberfest celebrations. George was also a member of the Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce and the Rio Rancho Chamisa Hills Country Club. October 2002, he returned to Atlantic City to attend his 60th class reunion. He enjoyed spending time with his schoolmates. In April 2003 he had an opportunity to say his final goodbyes to his fellow Lions, as he was MC at the 40N Convention in Rio Rancho. He was hospitalized on April 14th and died in the hospital of heart failure. We who knew him well will miss him a lot. Mass of Christian burial is Monday, April 28, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Arrangements by

Barbara Ann, passed away April 24, 2003 at the age of 75. She was the third child born to Lucien and Novella Hoch on May 8, 1927 in Las Vegas, NM. She graduated from East Las Vegas High in 1944 and attended Colorado Woman's College in Denver for two years. Barbara, then, attended the California Medical School of Technology and graduated as a Medical Technician. After moving back to Albuquerque, Barbara met her future husband, Roland W. Krug, in September of 1947 at the Paradise Valley Club. They were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Las Vegas, NM on June 10, 1949. Barbara was married to Roland for 53 years, raising four children. She is survived by her husband, Roland, and sister, Marion N. Smith, and was preceded in death by her brother, David H. Hoch. She is also survived by her children, Kristine K. Kline and husband, Edward, Marc S. Krug, and wife, Yue Zhang, Gary D. Krug, and Laura D. Krug and fiance, Gary Mathews. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Kinnan L. Kline, Jared N. Kline and wife, Karen, Geoffery J. Krug, and Holly X. Krug; and one great-grandchild, Castor J. Kline. Barbara immensely enjoyed cheering on the UNM Lobo basketball team and completing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She also stayed abreast of current news, especially headline trials, and enjoyed debating national, state, and local politics. To share a favorite lyric from Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy ", "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." Services will be held at French Mortuary - University Blvd. Chapel on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 2:00 pm with graveside service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Should friends desire, a tribute of flowers or a contribution to their favorite charity may be made in her memory. May you rest upon soft eternal breezes, as a silken butterfly in effortless flight.

Betty McKnight, former Albuquerque resident, 87, died January 20, 2003 at her home in Eugene, Oregon, after a ten-year battle with cancer. Family and friends in Albuquerque will hold a Memorial Service for Mrs. Littrell on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Rd. N.W. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to McKenzie-Willamette Hospice, 1460 "G" Street, Springfield, Oregon 97477-4197. Charles Louis Maio (Charlie) of El Paso, Texas passed away on April 24, 2003, after a short illness in Del Sol Hospital with wife, Sally and Father James Hall at his bedside. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on February 27, 1938. He was a longtime resident of El Paso and a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Mr. Maio is preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Cleo Maio, sister, Lorelle (Lori Dee) Maio and daughter, Terry Maio. He is survived by his wife, Sally of El Paso and his faithful companion, BEHR. Sons, Rick Francis of El Paso, Scott Francis of Clint, TX and daughter, Tammy Minot of Tucson, AZ. Sisters, Betty Painter of Albuquerque, NM and Beverly Dysart of Suisun, CA. 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque, NM and attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Along with his wife Sally, he was the owner and operator of Office Liquidators II in El Paso. He was a member of the BBB, El Paso Chamber of Commerce and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was active in many local golf tournaments and known by all as an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Visitation will be on Monday, April 28, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home East with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.. A funeral mass wil be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. A special thank you to Ed Welz and staff at Well Care. As well as Mary, the charge nurse of ICU at Del Sol Hospital. Special friends will act as pallbearers.

Robert A. Mallory, 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 in Albuquerque, his home for 7 years. He was born near Hampton, Iowa on September 29, 1910. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, served in the U.S. Army through WWII and the Korean War. He and his wife, Dayle, owned a bookshop in Grand Rapids, MI for 23 years. He held a Life Master in duplicate bridge, won three international awards for hybridizing iris and wrote poetry. He will be missed by his family and many friends for his unique humor, curiosity, and interest in everybody he met. He is predeceased by his wife, Dayle, daughter, Robin Hoth, and sister, Irene Wolff. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Mallory; friend, Kathleen McCorkell; grandson, Michael Vidro and wife, Felecia; their children, Rebecca and Jake, all of Albuquerque; grandson, Aaron Vidro, daughter, Sabrina and her mother, Traci Vidro, of Grand Rapids, son-in-law, Lester Hoth; grandson, Jason Hoth and wife, Gina, their children, Adam and Carson, granddaughter, Tiffany Smith and husband, Bradley, all of Bentonville, Arkansas area and his sister, Rhoda Anderson of Coolidge, AZ; A brief memorial service followed by a party will be held in his memory at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30th, in the dining room at Manzano del Sol Good Samaritan Retirement Community, at 5201 Roma NE

Linda Gail Schlenker Pearson of Bernalillo was born August 5, 1946 in Portales, NM and she passed away in Albuquerque on Tuesday, April 22, 2003. Linda is survived by her husband, William E. "Bill" Pearson of the Bernalillo home; and three children, Angela and husband, Cliff and their children, Coady, Cliff and Ruby of Durango, CO, Aaron T. Pearson and wife, Glenda and their daughter, Miranda and expected son, Tristan of Albuquerque and Garon Pearson and his son, Brandon also of Albuquerque. Linda is also survived by her mother, Hazel Helen Hamblen Schlenker of Albuquerque; sister, Pauline Tischler and husband, Melvin of Lubbock, TX; brother, Kendall and wife, Wilda of Placitas; sister, Lea Ann Keller of Placerville, CA; brother, Charles and wife, Ann of El Dorado Hills, CA; and their extended families. Linda is also survived by her lifetime best friend, Jeanine Heaton of Redlands, CA. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Harold M. Schlenker. Cremation has taken place and interment of cremains will be in the Schlenker family plot in the Friona, Texas Cemetery. Family Memorial Services are pending. Lt. Col. Robert H. Price (USAF retired), 83, born October 20, 1919 in Lawrence, Kansas, died April 23, 2003 in Chandler, Arizona. A Funeral Service will be held at the Berardinelli Funeral Home in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2003 followed by an Interment Service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Mr. Price graduated from the University of Kansas in 1941 and spent the next 27 years in the Army Air Corps/U. S. Air Force, starting as a Glider Pilot in World War II where he earned distinction as the only Glider Pilot to destroy a German anti-aircraft gun emplacement by landing his glider on top of the gunpit while it was attempting to shoot down other aircraft in his formation. He later transitioned to powered flight, piloting various Air Force aircraft to include a combat tour flying the B-26 aircraft in the Korean War. His military decorations include the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Air Medal. He retired from the military in 1968 as a Lieutenant Colonel and spent the next 25 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico followed by ten years in Chandler, Arizona. He was married for over 48 years to Ruth (Rodgers) Price who preceded him in death in 1990. They raised two sons, Colonel Robert H. Price Jr.(USAF retired) of Anchorage, Alaska and Commander Stephen R. Price (USN retired) of Silverdale, Washington; grandchildren, are Susan Davis of Colorado Springs, Major Robert H. Price III of Anchorage, and Eric Price of Silverdale, Washington; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brendan, Evan, and Megan Davis with a fifth great-grandson, Nicholas Robert Price due in June. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman and raised his sons accordingly. Several times he was the Southwestern Field Archery Champion and New Mexico State Field Archery Champion and enjoyed any chance he could get to go hunting or fishing, whether in New Mexico with friends or Alaska or Washington with his sons and grandsons. He spent his final years in Chandler, Arizona with his wife, Geri, who made a wonderful home for him in his later years. He will be missed by his many family and friends and remembered as a kind man, a staunch patriot, and someone with unwavering convictions. Mrs. Patricia C. ( Patti ) Quintana, 53, born and raised in Santa Fe, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1979 died April 25, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Quintana is the beloved wife of 36 years to Richard Quintana; she is also survived by three sons, Joe Ray Rodela of Tierra Amarilla, Rick of Rio Rancho, Chris and wife, Flo of Rio Rancho; one grandson, Nicholas; her loving parents, Vernon and Cecilia Rodriguez of Rio Rancho; sisters; Camilla Baca and husband, Bill of Albuq., Gina Robertson and husband, Sam of Rio Rancho, Verna Holmes and husband, Mark of Albuq.; her Uncle Donald Rodriguez and wife, Olivia of Santa Fe; mother-in-law, Pauline Quintana of Santa Fe; brothers-in-law, Robert Quintana of Santa Fe, Larry Quintana and wife, Liz of Santa Fe, Lonie Quintana and wife, Rene of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Gonzales and husband, Arthur of Memphis and Margo Camponovo and husband, John of Cabot, Az.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Mrs. Quintana was a member of the Catholic Church. Juanita Raquel Torres Richardson was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 24, 1948. She went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2003, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Juanita graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1966. She attended the University of New Mexico, graduating with a BS in Elementary Education/Special Education in 1970. She started her teaching career in Belen, New Mexico. She later taught in San Jose, California; Pasadena, Texas; and Albuquerque. Her father, Sinesio álvarez Torres and sister, Thelia Patricia, preceded Juanita in death. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Jim, and her loving children Angela and Tony. Other family members include: her mother, Angelina Calderon Torres; her brothers, Carlos and wife, Patty; Sinesio (Snip) and wife, Mary Helen; Emilio and wife, Midge; sisters, Rose Mary (Redd) Eakin and husband, Randy; and Jo-An Torres and husband, Dean Dye. Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews were also blessed by being a part of her family. Juanita was a devoted wife and mother. She provided her husband and children with unwavering support and love. She will be remembered for her kindness, loving nature, unselfishness, nurturing spirit and abiding strength through her faith in the Lord. She always had a humorous story; she loved to sing; and delighted in enchanting children with story telling, often with her mom. She was known for enhancing her stories and school announcements with appropriate accents. She never met a cat she didn't love. Those who knew Juanita felt truly blessed to have her in their lives. The family extends deepest gratitude to the American Cancer Society, the New Mexico Cancer Center, and the compassionate caregivers in the Presbyterian Hospital Oncology Ward and to her supportive neighbors in Tinnin Farms. A Rosary Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 7:00 pm at Risen Savior Catholic Community Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd., NE (just south of Paseo del Norte). A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at 10:00 am at Risen Savior Catholic Community Church. Harold B.Thomas, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2003. Harold was born December 20, 1921 the son of Burton and Nora West Thomas in Mosquero, New Mexico. (Harold served in the US Army during WW II.) He had worked in Quality Control with the Sandia National Laboratories for 33 years before retiring. Harold was an avid sportsman, loved fishing, baseball, softball, and basketball. He had been a pitcher, and had the nick name of "Speed ". Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Velma, in July of 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Rogers; one brother, Elton Thomas and wife Gale; grandson, Michael Rogers and wife Taasha; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Hunter; also numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to Dr. Matthew Montoya, for his pulmonary special care and his great sense of humor. Helen D. Vales, born August 20, 1919 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Euna and J.P. Holder passed away in her sleep on April 23, 2003 at the family home. Survivors include her husband, Cdr. (Ret). Robert F.
