Jasmine E. Palomino, age 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, passed away May 4, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Thelma (Toni) Price of Albuquerque; grandsons, Gregory Price and wife, Vivian Sleath of Rochester, VT, Ronaldo Price and wife, Dee Ann of Albuquerque; great-grandson, Anton Price and wife, Jennifer of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter, Erin Price of Ft. Collins, CO; and a great-great-grandson, Damian Price of Albuquerque. Her friends and family knew her as a kind and giving person who devoted her life to helping and caring for people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a nurse in New York City and Syracuse, NY. Friends may visit the family, Saturday, May 6, 2000, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., in the Relief Society room. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Church of Latter Day Saints, Montano Ward, 4100 Montano Rd. NW, with Elder Knudsen conducting. Frank Baker Riordan passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marti; and by his brother, Rodney and sister, Maude. He is survived by his children, Mary Riordan, Julie Rogers and husband, Pat, Tim Riordan and wife, Lori, Andy Riordan, and Kitty Riordan; as well as six grandchildren. He was born in Solomon, Kansas on October 27, 1910 and moved to Albuquerque with his family in 1922. He attended St. Mary's School, Albuquerque High School, and the University of New Mexico, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a reconnaissance photographer. In 1928, he started working at Riedling Music Company, which he eventually became owner of, in 1955, and made it one of Albuquerque's most successful music stores. He served on the boards of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, and the Goodwill. He was also an active member of Kiwanis and the Executive Association of Greater Albuquerque. He was a loyal supporter of Lobo Sports, most especially Lobo basketball, which he loved to watch. He was a much loved father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Sandia Hospice for their loving care and support near the end. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, 3301 Menaul Blvd. NE, Suite #4, Albuquerque, NM 87107. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming NE. Bobbie Kay Stokes, 40, a resident of Albuquerque since 1996, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Richard Morrow of Rio Rancho; mother, Mata Louise Graham and husband, James Robert of Albuquerque; father, Robert Stokes and wife, Gayla of Guthrie, OK; grandmother, Marguerite Roberts of Albuquerque; sister, Mata Marie Westmoreland and husband, Claude of Albuquerque; brother, Robert Stokes, Jr. and wife, Beth of Tulsa, OK; sister, Amber Dawn Stokes of Guthrie, OK; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bobbie was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Larry M. Wopat, age 60, a resident of Albuquerque for 26 years, died May 3, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Rose of Albuquerque; daughter, Katrina Lynch of Albuquerque; son, Nicholas Wopat and wife, Laurie of Colorado; four sisters, Pat Roou, Judy Jambois, Janice Hanesworth and Betty Nelson, all of Wisconsin; brother, Dennis Wopat of Wisconsin; and two grandchildren, Timothy Lynch and Amber Lynch. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 7, 2000, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, with Deacon J. Robert Martinez, reciting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2000, at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, with Father Domingo Gumpal as Celebrant. ELIZARDO FERNANDEZ, 76, of Española and Cordova died Wednesday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Aurora Fernandez; father, Atanacio Fernandez; and sister, Agnes Fernandez De Aguero. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Luis Fernandez of California, Max Fernandez and wife Aurora of Cuarteles, Stella Torres and husband Jose of Los Alamos, Lila Rivera of Española, Ben Fernandez and wife Patricia, Martha Witsoe and husband Vern, Mary Modesta and Ernesto Fernandez, all of California, and Emily Pacheco of Española; and numerous nephews and nieces. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at DeVargas Funeral Home in Española. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. FELELIA FLORES, 84, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Thursday following a sudden illness. She was born April 11, 1916, to Cruz Ortiz and Andrea Jaramillo Ortiz in Tecolotito. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She loved flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Carlos Flores, and George Flores; sister, Celia Garcia; sister-in-law, Cruzita Ortiz; and brothers-in-law Pat Garcia and Felix Gutierrez. She is survived by her daughters Sarah Flores and Levi Garcia, and Rebecca Apodaca and husband Evaristo, all of Las Vegas, N.M., and Yolanda Herbert and husband Joe of Albuquerque; sons Anthony Ortiz and wife Diane, and Larry Ortiz and Carla, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother, Candido Ortiz of Las Vegas, N.M.; sister, Celestina Gutierrez of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandchildren Terrance and Dwight Flores, Charlene Flores, Everet, Eric and Antionette Apodaca, Sean Herbert, Jessica and Anthony Ortiz Jr., and Larry Ortiz; and numerous other relatives and friends. LEON MAESTAS, 32, of the Española Valley died Thursday. He was preceded in death by his father, Benito Maestas; brother, Benny James Maestas; maternal grandparents, Jose Ramon and Francisquita Salazar; paternal grandparents, Jose Ignacio Maestas and Fedelina Archuleta. He is survived by his mother, Sarah Maestas and Manuel Martinez of Valley Estates; wife, Josette of Española; son, Adrian Maestas of Albuquerque; sister, Geraldine Garcia of Ranchitos; brothers Jerry Maestas of Chimay¢, and Ignacio 'Nacho' Maestas of Riverside; sister-in-law, Annette Maestas and husband Kenny of Española; aunts and uncles, Mary Lou Martinez of San Pedro, John and Eloisa Block of Santa Fe, Alberta Salazar, Jose Guadalupe and Mela Salazar, Bennie Salazar, Connie and David Ortega, David and Sylvia Salazar, Mary Agnes, and Andres Gallegos, Arthur Salazar, and Angela Salazar, all of Española, and Lillian Martinez of Albuquerque; and numerous other relatives and friends. LEONARD A. NUCKOLLS, 83, of Santa Fe died Thursday. He was born Feb. 22, 1917, to Mabel Ganson and Harry Leonard Nuckolls in Park City, Utah. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He married Rachel Agatha Becker in 1942 in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1962, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He then worked as a hospital administrator at the Las Vegas Medical Center from 1966 to 1976. He was a member of the International Service Corps., Roadrunner Chapter of Retired Officers and MENSA. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gath; sister, Willa Childerston of Golden, Colo.; children, Peter Leonard Nuckolls and wife Camille of Fort Worth, Texas, and Rachel Patricia Conine of Dallas; grandchildren Leonard Drew Nuckolls of Fort Worth, Texas, Colin Nuckolls of New York, Tara Fawn Ravishankar of Denver, Thane Patrick Kenny and Forrest Adam Kenny, both of Albuquerque, and Marc Clayton Conine of Dallas; and great-grandson, Vivek Kenny Ravishankar. Evelyn Boushelle, born December 13, 1909 in Waterloo, MI, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001. She is survived by her one son, J Paul Boushelle and wife, Marcy of Albuquerque; three grandsons, Gregory Boushelle and wife, Tania of Denver, CO, Christopher Boushelle and wife, Mary of Little Rock, AR, and Benjamin Boushelle and wife, Emerald of Albuquerque; and four great grandchildren, Jay, John, Katherine, and Rebecca, all of Little Rock, AR. "Mrs. B" as she was always known, taught school for 43 years. She began teaching in Waterloo, MI in a one-room schoolhouse and then became principal in Gregory, MI. Mrs. B moved to Las Cruces in 1946 and taught in the public school system. She then went on to teach Shakespearean Literature at New Mexico State University, until retirement in 1973, but continued to teach Shakespearean Literature into her eighties in Laguna Hills, CA and Albuquerque. Mrs. B did her undergraduate work in Michigan and received her MBA from New Mexico State. Teaching was not her career, it was her love. Evelyn, Mrs. B, Mom, Nana, loved deeply and was deeply loved.

Mary L. Braune, 81, a resident of Bosque, NM and formerly of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2001. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in La Joya, NM. Mary was a retired registered nurse working in the health care area for sixty years. She was also a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mary is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles L. Bookout on May 26, 1952; three sons, Mike Bookout in 1952; John Bookout in 1974 and Patrick Bookout in 1989; one daughter, Amy Lee Bookout in 1951; and second husband, Oscar C. Braune in 1995. Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy Bookout of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Ryan and Jessica Bookout also of Tulsa, OK; step-daughter, Katherine Browning of Albuquerque, NM, step-granddaughter, Caroline Marie Browning Hess of Albuquerque, NM and two great-step-grandchildren, Zachary and Brandi Rose Hess. Mary is also survived by her brother, Fr. John McHugh of Belize, Central America. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 7, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Society of Our Lady in Bosque. A Funeral Mass will be recited on Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at Society of Our Lady in Bosque with Father John officiating. Mildred Evelyn Carlton, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1987, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001. She is survived by her step-daughter, Joanne Massey; grandchildren, Deborah Buell, Mary Yuchas, Cynthia Yuchas, and John Yuchas; great grandchildren, Brian Czarnecki and Brad Czarnecki; nephews, Ralph Terry and Timothy Black; nieces, Linda Blagman, Adina Fisher and Michal White; and a host of friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Delbert L. Carlton; nephew, Paul Terry; sisters, Dorothy Reeves, Virginia Black and Doris Terry and brother, Leo Gariepy. She devoted much of her life to her church and willingly gave herself to many activities and duties. Services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Unity Church, 9800 Candelaria with Reverend Guy Lynch officiating. Interment of cremains will take place in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Craig, Missouri, at a later date. On May 2nd 2001 Mrs. Pauline Enriquez passed away leaving her daughter Cecilia Hinojos; sons Jose, Juan and Fernando Enriquez; her brother Guadalupe Hinojos; Her sisters Asusena Pena, Corrina Diaz and Efran Granillo; and her partner Flavio Urias. The Rosary will be at St. Edwin Church 2105 Barcelona Rd. SW at 7:00 PM Sunday evening. The funeral will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at the church. Homer D. Green, 86, an Albuquerque resident since 1975, died Saturday, May 5, 2001 after a long illness. He is survived by his son, Homer D. Green, Jr. of Albuquerque; daughter, Marjorie E. Lynch and husband Brendan of Calverton, MD; grandchildren, Kelly Davenport and husband, Jeff, of Baltimore, MD, Kimberly Scull and husband, Brian of Silver Spring, MD, Daniel P. Lynch of Columbia, MD, Sean T. Lynch and wife, Jennifer Lavan of Bethesda, MD and Erin C. Taylor and husband, Brice of Germantown, MD; great-granchchildren Nathan Treichel, Brendan Davenport, Colin Davenport, Daniel Scull, Amanda Jane Scull, Kyle Taylor and Paige Taylor. Mr. Green was a 1936 graduate of Haskell College in Lawrence, KS. He began his career with the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Window Rock, AZ, subsequently retiring from the BIA as Chief of the Budget Division in 1975 in Washington, D.C. As a US Army Veteran of WWII, he was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and also a member of Sandia Masonic Lodge #72, Ballut Abayad Shriners in Albuquerque and of the Tall Cedar of Lebanon in Hyattsville, MD. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2001 at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will take place at Hiawatha Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kansas on Wednesday, May 9, 2001. Kenneth R. Halladay, 73, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1993, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2001. Kenneth and his wife were originally from Cleveland, Ohio, where he was a member of IBEW Local #38 for over 50 years. Kenneth was a Navy veteran during WW II. He was an active member of the Republican Club and a Commissioner on Planning and Zoning in his new home in Rio Rancho. Kenneth was the loving husband of Jeanne (Fitrell) for fifty-one years. Cherished father of Eileen Zanders,
Sue Chambers and husband George, Kathy Colley and husband George, Ken Halladay and wife Mari, John Halladay and wife Linda, Jeanne Coughlin and husband Kevin and Patty Clark and husband Jim. Grandpa to Kristin, Mark, Brittany, Derek, Dylan, Devin, Lauren, Kelly, Katie and Emma. His family was the most important part of his life. Ralph Handley, a resident of Veguita, NM, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Friday, May 04, 2001. He was a devoted member of the Chihuahua Bible Chapel, Belen Optimists, and American Guernsey Cattle Club. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Harriet in 1987; his sisters, Marian Hamilton and Ruby Walton; one brother, Frank Handley; his parents, Arthur and Grace Handley; and one grandson, Bryan. He is survived by his three sons, David and his wife, Audrey; Richard; Doug and his wife, Irene; his four daughters, Barbara Pruett and her husband, Wayne; Becky Tiley and her husband, Earl; Beverly Pareo and her husband, Jordan; and Bonnie Davidson and her husband, Randy; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. His loving daughter, Barbara, wrote, "Our dear father, passed from the arms and loving presence of his children and family, to the loving arms of his heavenly Father and many loved ones, especially Mom, who was waiting to celebrate his arrival in a much better place. May God give you everlasting peace and rest." A Visitation will be held on Sunday, 1:30pm at the Chihuahua Bible Chapel in Veguita, NM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00pm. Marlin Charles James, 66, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marsha Y. James; daughters, Melissa A. Briggs and husband, Michael of Albuquerque and Marty Hill and husband, Gayle of Farmington, NM; grandchildren, Shelby K. Briggs, Hayley E. Briggs and Collin T. Hill; brothers, Alfred Douglas James and wife, Nancy of Amarillo, TX and Robert Norman James and wife, Linda of China Spring, TX. Marlin was a life long member of the Church of Christ and a member of Montgomery Blvd Church of Christ since 1975, where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters since 1952 and was employed by the New Mexico District Council of Carpenters from 1968 until retirement in 1993. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2001, 10:00a.m. at Montgomery Blvd. Church of Christ, 7201 Montgomery Blvd N.E, with Kevin Owen, officiating. Interment of cremains to be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park. Mrs. Sofia Jaramillo, 87, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 4, 2001 at home with her loved ones at her side. Mrs. Jaramillo is survived by two daughters, Marcella Orona and Stella Garza; seven sons, Mel Jaramillo and wife Lala, Pete Jaramillo, Henry Jaramillo and wife Nena, Edward Jaramillo and wife Patsy, Manuel Jaramillo and fiancee, AnnaBelle; Jerry Jaramillo and Louie Jaramillo; 47 grandchildren; sixty-two (plus) great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mrs. Jaramillo was preceded in death by her husband, Natividad Jaramillo, her brother, Raymond Lucero, her daughter, Mary Ann Rambes and son in law Larry, her sons, Johnny and Orlando Jaramillo and great granddaughter, Tracy Orona and two great grandsons, Bobby J. and Michael James Orona. Mrs. Jaramillo was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:30 until 7:00 in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00. Final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 9:30 until 10:00 in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 by Father Manuel Viera. Interment will follow in the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Louie Jaramillo, Jerry Jaramillo, Michael Jaramillo, Julian Jaramillo, Christopher Lopez and Orlando Rambes. Martin Kessler, 74, a resident of Rio Rancho and formerly of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2001. Martin was born November 5, 1926 the son of Jack and Esther Umansky Kessler in Brooklyn, New York. He had been an editor with the New York Mirro before retiring. Martin is survived by his wife Joy of Rio Rancho, four children, Meredith Brown and husband Michael of Santa Fe, Alyssa Worby and husband Malcolm of Santa Fe, Shari Schwann and husband Eric of Albuquerque, and Faith Hosford and husband Russell of Albuquerque, one brother, Leo Kessler of Carls Springs, FL, four grandchildren, Michaela, Maia, Emily, and Erika. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2001 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Rabbi Ben Morrow officiating. Bobby Joe Lee, 67, a 25 year resident of Tijeras, NM formally of Los Lunas, NM passed away Friday, May 4, 2001 in Tijeras, NM. Bobby was born August 12, 1933 in Melrose, NM to Jesse Alexander and Frances Jane (Stone) Lee. He married Sandra K. Walton, May 15, 1980 in Moriarty, NM. Bobby served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Melrose Baptist Church in Melrose, NM, and a very active member of the "Coffee Club." Bobby will be remembered for his great sense of humor, and his love for his wife, family, especially his grandchildren, and all of his friends. Bobby is survived by his wife of 21 years Sandra K. Lee, of Tijeras, NM; four sons Roger D. Lee, Bert A. Lee, and wife Ronda, Steven R. Lee, Burt Shilling and Suzi Bowles, and Ernie Antonio and wife Cheryl; two daughters Pamela L. Armstrong and husband Richard, and Vanessa K. Pacheco and husband Joe; one brother Gerald W. Lee and wife Lynn C.; three sisters Rita J. Russell and husband Phillip L., Ruby F. Killion and husband Lloyd, and Bertha F. Patterson; his mother-in-law Eda M. The burial will be Monday May 14, 2001- 10:00AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM.

Debi Leveque, 42, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ted Leveque, of Sandia Park; sons, Joshua and Tyler Leveque, both of Sandia Park; parents Wally and Marie Trom of Tempe, AZ; and sister Gini Smart, of Tempe AZ. Debi was always ready to help anybody and had many people who loved her and called her friend, daughter, sister, mom and loving wife. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2001, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Lemuel Boyles, officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Carla Ramirez, 5800 Lomas Blvd. NE, 87110 or Sandia Hospice, 4775 Indian School Rd. NE, Suite 310, 87110. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE

In loving memory of Virginia Shirley McCanna, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, graduate of UNM, Class of 1942. Death occurred on Friday, May 5, 2001 in Brush, Colorado. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Jones of Grand Junction, CO, and Janet McCanna of Santa Fe; and a grandson, Chris Jones of Grand Junction, CO.
