He was preceded in death by his partner, Jeanette Campos.
He is survived by his mother, Nora Lopez; brothers, Juanito Duran and wife Theresa, and Alex Duran and wife Kathy; sisters, Martha Gonzales and husband Ernesto, Delia Smith, Delma Romero and husband Benny, Mary Trujillo and husband Ernest, Josephine Rivera, Theresa Mondragon and husband Gilbert, Carol Romero, Beatrice Trujillo and Richard, and Mary Ann Duran and Raul; and many other relatives.

BERNABE MARTINEZ, 81, of Santa Fe died Tuesday.
He served in the U.S. Armed Services in Germany during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isidro and Getrudes Martinez.

JOSEPH LEVI MARTINEZ, 19, of Española and Chimayó died Thursday unexpectedly.
He was an active outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his cousin, Sarah Faith Sandoval; and grandfather; Levi Martinez.
He is survived by his parents, Victor and Lucille Sanchez of Española; father, Joseph Martinez of Chimayo; half sisters, Nicole and Brianna Martinez of Española; fiancée, Cici Coles of Española; and many other relatives and friends.

MANUEL PORTILLO, 82, of Santa Fe died Tuesday.
He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and with the Screaming Eagles in Central Europe. He retired from the First National Bank and Eberline Instruments. He was an active member of St. Anne Parish, sponsor and supporter of the Disabled American Veterans of America, an active member of the Animal Rescue Mission of Albuquerque, and a sponsor of the Oklahoma Christian Ministry. He enjoyed fishing, building trades, working in his yard and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucinda Garcia; father, Albino Portillo; brother, Tony Portillo; and sister Alice Ortega. He is survived by his wife, Angelina Portillo; children, Pamela Lineberry of Moor Park, Calif., Myra Rivera, Venessa Maestas, and Manuel Velarde, III and wife Dina, all of Santa Fe; ten grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

ANNETTE TAPIA, 40, of Ribera died Tuesday.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Luciano and Florinda Baca, paternal grandfather, Rosendo Tapia; aunt, Luciana Flores, and uncle, Seferino Flores.

HUGH BYRON TUCKER, 92, of Los Alamos died Monday after a long illness.
He was a resident of Los Alamos and Española prior to moving to Sun City West, Ariz. He came to Los Alamos in the early 1940's as a part of the Manhattan Project and was employed by Los Alamos National Laboratory until his retirement in the mid 1970's.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Sue Tucker; and sisters, Polly Evans and Hontas Thurman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tucker of Sun City West, Ariz.; daughter, Judy Penman and husband, Douglas of Valencia, Calif.; son, Jim Lamberto and wife Lisa; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

LILLIAN PATRON VARGAS, 77, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday.
She retired from the West Las Vegas City Schools where she was a food service provider. She loved her grandchildren, and liked to watch novelas and play the organ. She was dedicated to her church, Our Lady of Sorrows, and enjoyed attending mass.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bentura and Rafaelita Marquez; husband, Pete Patron; son, Christy Patron; brother, Charlie Marquez; sister, Gloria Marquez; two grandchildren and many other relatives.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Gonzales and husband Tomas; son, David Patron; brothers, Napoleon Marquez and Frank Marquez and wife Blaine, Alfred Marquez and wife Priscilla, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; sisters, Beatrice Weiss of San Mateo, Calif. and Louisa Hough of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
