Glen F. McFall, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgann R. McFall of Albuquerque; sons, George R. McFall and wife, Carol of Albuquerque, Jeffrey G. McFall and wife, Paula Maynes of Santa Fe; daughter, Jane Ann Davenport and husband, John of Bernalillo, NM; four grandchildren, Jenifer Metz and husband, Brett of Portland, OR, Zoe McFall of Albuquerque, Hugh McFall, and Guy Patrick McFall, both of Santa Fe. He was an active member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. McFall was a decorated veteran of the US Army Air Corps. He served with the 455th Bomb Group as a Radio Operator/Gunner during WWII. Mr. McFall retired from Sandia Labs after 37 years. The family would like to thank the staff of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care of Glen and their thoughtfulness to his family. Services will be held Monday, June 14, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Ken Moore and Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Cremation will follow the service and private ennichement of cremains will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Leo Pampalone, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 1999, after many months of illness and suffering. Those left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Pampalone; son, Leonard Pampalone; daughter, Patricia Bearly and husband, Russell, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Mike Pampalone and wife, Ann, Sam Pampalone, Nick Pampalone and wife, Theresa, Anthony Pampalone and wife, Mary Ann, Dominic Pampalone and wife, Judy and Angelo Pampalone and wife, Priscilla; and sisters, Lucy Deluise and Gasparine Pampalone and their families, all of Indiana. Prior to his retirement in 1978, Leo was for many years, the store manager of the Sandia Base (now Kirtland AFB) Commissary, where he was awarded several commendations for excellent performance. He was a WWII veteran. Mr. Pampalone was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for 47 years since his arrival in Albuquerque from Gary, IN. Leo was a wonderful man devoted to his family. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Father bob Chabot, Celebrant. Private interment will take place. Pallbearers will be Russell Bearly, Leonard Pampalone, Herman Griego, Abbie Griego, Mike Pampalone, and Nick Pampalone. Elizabeth Szoke, born to Simon Szoke and Martha Vargas on June 27, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. Long a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, she is survived by her daughter, Pamela Yates; her granddaughter, Stacey Yates and grandson, Zachary Yates. Her family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness and support shown by Betty's circle of friends. Betty was an administrator in charge of counseling and training counselors for the Detroit, Michigan Public Schools. Previously she was counselor at Coffey Middle School. She volunteered at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center for the last 15 years. In lieu of flowers a guest donation may be made in her name c/o Pat Reck, IPCC, 2401 12th St NW, Albuq, N.M. 87104. A Memorial Service will be held at IPCC at the same address in the theater on Saturday, June 12, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. A photograph of Betty will be available to order at the service.

Darlene R. Taylor, 66, passed away June 8, 1999. She is survived by son, Ernie Crawford and wife, Karla and their children, Brandon and Brady; daughter, Linda Annear and husband, Paul and their son, Jonathon, Tim Taylor; brother, Keith Gadway; sister, Jean Lebstock. Memorial services will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood NE, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 1999. Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th NW, 343-8008.

Deolinda Baca, 94, passed away Sunday, June 4, surrounded by her loving family and sister. A resident of Santa Monica, CA since 1942, Deolinda was born into an old Spanish family in La Cienega, NM. Her grandfather, Don Pedro Bautista Pino, was elected in 1810 as the New Mexico Territorial Representative to the Spanish Cortes in Spain. Deolinda's mother, Trinidad Pino de Montoya, was described in a 1975 article in The New Mexican as every inch a grand dame of the old school with her delicate black lace mantilla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amado Baca; and parents, Miguel and Trinidad Pino de Montoya; sisters, Celine Vigil, Josephine C. de Baca, Elda Montoya, Margaret del Valle, Annabel Cox; and brother, Miguel Montoya. She is survived by her children, Arturo and wife, Mary, San Rafael, CA, Sylvianna Baca, Santa Monica, CA, Sally Colonna, Lexington, TX, and Evangeline Madrid and husband, Carlos of Bernalillo; her grandchildren, Karla Blaine, Karol Hobbs, Kurtis, Kris and Kevin Colonna, John and Robert Madrid and Shirley Herron; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Fita Brown, Amelia Andrews; and brother, Antonio Montoya; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. Deolinda served her country during WWII in the elite group known as "Rosie the Riveter" at San Pedro Naval Ship Yards and later was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital until retiring in 1969. Her retirement was spent dedicating many years of service to her parish Saint Clement's Church and St. Joseph's Center. She received recognition for her services to others from the Hispanic Ministry of Los Angeles in 1997 and more recently the Lay Minister Benemerenti Award from Pope John Paul II. A Memorial Mass was held at St. Clement's Church on June 6 with six priests concelebrating Mass. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, at San Jose Catholic Church in La Cienega, NM, with Father Ernest Sweeney from Loyola-Marymont University as Celebrant. Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery.

Larry D. Carruth, 52, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Friday, June 09, 2000, after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Carruth of Albuquerque; daughter, Kelley Adams and husband, Jeff of Marysville, WA; son, Kent Carruth and wife, Dawn of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Heather, Danielle, and Amanda Adams; Jayson and Tyler Carruth; parents, Glenn and Audrey Carruth of Peralta; and sister, Anita Visser and husband, CJ of Peralta. Mr. Carruth was a respected man of his business, church, community, and most of all his family. He was a self described, simple man who put other's needs before his. He was proud of his country and he served in the military, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Above and beyond, he had a firm and unwavering belief in God and family. Services will be held Monday, June 12, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Tramway Community Church, 4800 Tramway Ridge NE, with Pastor Chuck Kofahl officiating. Woodrow W. Carr Jr., "Woody", passed away at his home, June 9, 2000. He was a truck driver for 20 years, was self employed for 10 years, and an auto salesman for the last 6 years. Woody loved to play golf and play his guitar. He is survived by his wife, of 31 years, Rosita; daughter, Russi; adopted son, Nicholas; son, Woodrow; mother, Rosalie Wilson; seven grandchildren; uncle Elmer Semones; aunt, Theresa Semones; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law and numerous other family and friend who loved and will miss him. Larry Don Coughenour, born on September 2, 1937, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2000 at 5:45 p.m. He is survived by his mother, Winnie Coughenour; wife, Patricia Coughenour; son, Douglas Coughenour and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Kimberley Schwarts and husband, Bill; brother, Richard Coughenour and wife Leah; step-daughter, Ann Marie Donald and granddaughter, Emily Rose Donald; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was the past Director of the New Mexico Supreme Court under the direction of Chief Justice John McManus. Memorial Services will be held on June 12, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Lukes Lutheran Church. The church is located at 9100 Menaul NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. The Pastor will be Rev. Harold T. Colonel Richard R. Duemler, U.S. Army (Ret.), 77, a resident of Corrales, died Thursday, June 8, 2000. During his 32 years of military service, Colonel Duemler served in the European Theater of Operations, Japan, Germany, Italy and Korea. He also served at many stateside stations. Colonel Duemler retired from Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX on April 1, 1974. Awards and decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge, The Bronze Star with Valor, the Legion of Merit, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Colonel Duemler was a life member of the Retired Officers Association. He was a member of the Jemez Springs Presbyterian Church, having served as both an ordained Elder and Deacon of his congregation. Col. Duemler is survived by his wife, Brownie Duemler of the home; daughters, Diana Sartain of Hobbs, Deborah Warden of Austin, TX, Virginia Thomas of Sunbury, OH, and Rebecca Daily of Albuquerque; son, Lt. Colonel Richard F. Duemler of Canyon Lake, TX; sister, Nancy Bazil of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Frank W. Fullington, 75, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2000. Frank was born September 27, 1925 in Imboden, Arkansas, the son of Dowin and Linnie Fullington. Before retiring, he had been a truck driver for a construction company for 15 years. Frank is survived by is mother, Linnie Fullington; wife, Ida of Albuquerque; children, Michael Fullington of Connecticut, Joyce and family, and Mamie Pascoe from Albuquerque ; two sisters, Winnie Godsey from Abilene, Texas and Sue Arnold from California; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitations will be held Monday, June 12, 2000 at 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Vista Verde Chapel. Benjie Gallegos, 51, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of El Cerro, N.M. passed away on Friday, June 9, 2000. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the Iron Workers Local Union 495 for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie in 1990. Benjie is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Dina of the family home in Albuquerque; five children, Dorean Gallegos of Estancia, Kim Aragon and her husband, Lloyd of Grants, Dreciann Lucero, Benjamin and Leanne all of the family home in Albuquerque; 5 loving grandchildren, Michael Ramirez, Lloyd Aragon Jr., Monica Vigil, Audrianna Aragon, and Isaiah Lucero; his father, Ismael O. Gallegos of El Cerro; four brothers, Frankie of El Cerro, Pete and his wife, Phyllis of El Cerro, Marcus and his wife, Lorraine of Los Lunas, Dennis and his wife, Lucie of Albuquerque; four sisters, Nellie Peralta and her husband, Willie of Albuquerque, Prescilla and her husband, Sonny of Albuquerque, Lorraine Talamante and her husband, Michael of Rio Rancho, Betty Ann Yalch and her fiance, Neal Mueller of El Cerro. Nick Jude Gonzales, born June 27, 1969, died Friday, June 9, 2000. Nick, a loving son, father, brother, cousin, nephew is survived by his daughter, Amberlea Nicole Gonzales; his son, Nick Andrew Gonzales; and their mother, Carol; his mother, Tina M. Gonzales; father, Victor Bustos; sister, Melissa M. Gonzales; niece, Gabrielle Victoria Lloyd; grandmother, Pablita Gonzales; aunts, Juanita Ulmer and husband, Bob, Marcella Haime and husband, Harry, Lucia Sawyer and husband, Don and Florence Vigil and husband, Al; uncles, Ernest Gonzales and wife, Pat, Casimiro Gonzales and wife, Annie and Richard Gonzales and wife, Irene; and numerous other special loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Nick Gonzales, Aunt Isadora Armijo, uncles, Nick and Manuel Gonzales. Nick served in the New Mexico Army National Guard for several years. He served with the Albuquerque Police Department for 10 years. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1987 and was a member of the F.O.P. and Albuquerque Police Officers Association. Charles J. Grummer, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963 died Friday, June 9, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rose Grummer; sons, John C. and Diane Grummer of Summerville, SC, Ralph G. and Roberta Grummer of Richland, WA, Martin F.M. and Marilyn Grummer of Albuquerque, and Larry M. and Sara Grummer-Strawn of Tucker, GA; daughters, Ann E. and Tom Sims of Albuquerque, Eileen and Tom Paez of Albuquerque; Marilyn T. and Geoff Dorn of Plano, TX, Janet R. and Dave Pedneau of Fairfax, VA, and Judi C. and Howard Stallings of Albuquerque; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Herman and Kathleen Grummer of Houston, TX and William and Annie Grummer of Willis, TX. Orlando Gutierrez, 56, a resident of Bosque, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2000. He worked with the New Mexico Highway Department for five years, and recently retired from the Rio Grande Conservancy District after twenty years of service. He also ran Gutierrez Farms for the past eighteen years. Orlando was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Eduvijen Gutierrez, his two sons, Richard Gutierrez, and Orlando Gutierrez, Jr. and his brothers, Julian Gutierrez, Benny Gutierrez and wife, Rose Maria, and Leo Gutierrez. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean of the family home; his daughters, Betty Garley and husband, Michael of Los Lunas, Linda Moya and husband, Chester of Pecos, Jessica Ulibarri and husband, Delfino of North Carolina, Judith Gutierrez of Bosque, and Sharon Brannock of Albuquerque; his sisters, Stephanie Carrasco and husband, Victor, and Mary Gutierrez; his brother, Fermin Gutierrez and wife, Francis; his sister-in-laws, Eugenia Gutierrez and Julia Gutierrez; and his grandchildren, Orlando Ulibarri, Dwayne Brannock, Nick Brannock, and Kiro Brannock. Ray Hemphill (Otis), born in Mosquero, N.M., 75, a longtime resident of Albuquerque died Friday, June 9, 2000. Ray is survived by his wife, Billie Hemphill; son, James V. and Barbara Hemphill of Kingwood, TX; son, Ray and Cathy Hemphill of Clearwater, FL and children, Lissa, Amy, and Hemphill, Pamela Kaye Eberle and children, Sara and Amelia of Rio Rancho; James M. and Adrian Brennan of Austin, TX; Burton E. and Mayo Dikelsky of Crete, IL; and daughter, Sheryl Dikelsky of New York City, and William M. and Bonny Schulenburg and children, Shannon, Krissy, and Matt Bennette of El Paso, TX; Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Vance Hemphill; parents, Cecil Vance and Pearl Eula Hemphill. Graveside Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico with Col. Lem Boyles, officiating. Walter Herrmann was born at home in Johannesburg, South Africa on 2 May, 1930 to Gottlob Fredrich Herrmann, hotel proprietor, and Gertrud Louise Herrmann nee Retzlaff. He was introduced to world travel early when the family took an extended European vacation in 1939. Narrowly escaping World War II, the family returned to South Africa, where Walter continued his education, completing his BSc and all requirements for his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand by age 23. He was selected as one of two South African participants in the 1953 Foreign Students Summer Project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge Mass. At its completion, he was invited to continue his research at MIT as an exchange student. He was finally awarded his PhD by Witwatersrand University in 1955 after lengthy review of his thesis by external examiners. He married Betty Lorraine Allard in 1955, and the couple spent an extended honeymoon traveling by bicycle and Youth Hostels in Europe and the Middle East on their way back to South Africa. Walter became a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. In 1957, he was invited to return to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as part of the Cold War research effort, and worked in their Division of Sponsored Research, becoming one of the early scientists attempting to understand and predict the effects of intense explosions and very high speed impacts. He moved to the Sandia National Laboratories in 1964, continuing to work on the computer simulation of impacts and explosions and the behavior of materials at extreme pressures and temperatures. This allowed him to work with successive generations of supercomputers as they became available. He published numerous reports and gave many lectures at international symposia, including ones in Russia and China at the invitation of the Russian and Chinese Academics of Sciences, respectively. Entering management, he rose to become Director of Engineering Science at Sandia. He was inducted into the US National Academy of Engineering in 1993, and retired from Sandia that same year. He was divorced in 1983 and married Ednarae Bligh Gross in 1988. Throughout his life he had a keen interest in travel, mountain climbing, and amateur archaeology, and was able to indulge these interests on all continents, making many friends throughout the world. He is survived by his children, Peter and Inga Herrmann; grandchildren, Rishar, Maria and Joshua; and step-children, Allan and Jeffrey Gross, all of Albuquerque, and Janis Gross of Longmont, CO. A Memorial services will be held at the Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1816 Carlisle Blvd. NE, on Saturday, June 17, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Walter Herrmann Memorial Fund at the Zoo, Albuquerque Biological Parks. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Dr. Herrmann, (891-8200).

Jimmie Lee Hodge of Roswell, N.M. passed away June 9, 2000 in the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born November 13, 1950 in Crowell, TX to Ray Hodge Sr. and Lee Vanna Black Hodge. He is survived by his wife, Diane; two sons, Charles L. Hodge of Albuquerque, Ray W. Hodge of Roswell; and three daughters, Samantha Dixon, Yvonne Dixon, and Sara Hodge, all of Roswell; ten grandchildren; his mother, Lee Vanna Hodge of Peralta, N.M.; his two brothers, Ray Hodge of Peralta and Charles Keith of Redriver, N.M.; five sisters, Betty Mascarena of Belen, Natha Adams of Albuquerque, Sherry Morgan of Roswell, Abbie New and Charlene Gurule, both of Albuquerque; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Hodge, Sr., two grandchildren, a niece, Sheila Ann Hodge and a nephew, Kenneth Wayne Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Jimmy Morgan, Robert Morgan, David Adams, Jason Adams, Jacob Hodge and Justin Hodge. Richard Barber Hosley, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, passed away Friday, June 9, 2000. He grew up in North Adams, MA, graduated from Drury High School and Bliss Business College, served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1952. He retired from Sandia Labs in 1984. He was an active member of the Corrales Volunteer Fire Company thirty years, four as chief. Survivors are his wife, Ruth H.; daughter, Nancy Luck De Castro and husband, Fred; sister-in-law, Ruth F. John R. Humphrey Sr., 79, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family on June 9, 2000. Mr. Humphrey is survived by his daughter, Lisi Lepori and fiance, Tom Wells; two sons, John R. Humphrey Jr. and wife, Dale, Raymony H. Humphrey and fiance, Bernadette Lopez; three sisters, Dorothy Rivas, Emma Montoya and Mary Griego and husband, Gilbert; two brothers, George Humphrey and Richard Humphrey and wife, Elizabeth; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Paul, Jennifer, Phillip, Daniel, Erick and Cynthia; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Humphrey was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW with visitation at the Church after 6:30 p.m. Gabriella Nieto, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with visitation at the church after 9:30 a.m. Father Joe Vigil, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Paul Griego, George Griego, Danny Griego, Abraham Chavez and Shawn Humphrey. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.

Linda Kathleen Guliford Jeffery, born September 17, 1939, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2000. She was loved by many and will be missed. We are thankful for the time we had with her. Linda is survived by her mother, Katie Rogers; children, Larry Guliford and wife, Edna, Bernadette Hanks, Karen Lawrence and husband, Larry and Odette Guliford; brothers, Gilford Rogers, Omar Rogers, Pastor Byron Rogers and Robert Rogers; sisters, Cynthia Watson and Theresa Coy; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Felicia, Maurice, Daniel Ray, Calvin Jr., Aziza, Carrie and Michael; great-granddaughter, D'Essance; loved ones, Lawrence Guliford and Paul Jeffery; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews and friends. Mrs. Jeffery was preceded in death by her father, Omar Rogers. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., at Powerhouse Church of God, 6235 Church Hill Rd. SW, with Rev. Byron Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Frances G. Jones, 81, a resident of Bosque Farms, went Home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, June 8, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Tafoya and husband, Tim of Bosque Farms; grandchildren, Andrea, Brian, Eric, Nicki, Kelli Tafoya and Kara Arnold; and special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Arnold in 1993. Frances was a loving mother and grandmother. Graveside services will be held Monday, June 112, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Bob Church of Calvary Chapel, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lifeline Missions, 4001 Osuna NE 87109.
