William Mason
Services: Have been held.
Mr. William “Billy” Mason, 17, of Clovis, a student, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, in Clovis.
He was born on May 25, 1985, at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, to Bob and Bonnie Mason.
He was a student at Clovis High School. He was a member of Boy Scouts Troop 832 at Cannon Air Force Base and Order of the Arrow. Family members said he enjoyed fishing, camping, helping friends and family with their projects, volunteering at the zoo, was always quick with a smile, and will be missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, William Geist and Charles Waltz.
He is survived by his parents; a brother, Shawn Mason of Clovis; a sister, Nicol Mason of Clovis; grandparents, Bob and Rushelle Mason of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathryn Geist of Elizabethtown, Pa.; an uncle, Stanley Waltz of Columbia, Pa.; two aunts, Kelly Boyd (and husband, Tommy) of Warrensburg, Mo., and Ginger Christie (and husband, Bob) of San Antonio; and numerous cousins.
The Rev. Joe Callahan Jr. will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Clovis High School JROTC cadets.
Memorial contributions may be made the Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015-2079.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Shirell Massey
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Shirell Massey, 62, of Loveland, Colo., died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Hospice Care Center in Loveland.
He was born on June 27, 1940, in Portales, to Lois and Claudie Carrol Massey.
He graduated from high school in Portales. He married Carolyn A. Kerr on Sept. 5. 1992, in Loveland. He worked as a truck driver for Wal-Mart for more than 15 years and was honored for never having an accident on the job with more than 2 million miles logged. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Portales. Family member said he loved truck driving and hunting.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Bobby Massey (and wife, Kim) of Plainview, Texas, and Ricky Massey of Colorado; a daughter, Terri Brown (and husband, Ron) of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronnie Dee Massey (and wife, June) of Clovis.
The Rev. Ted Bailey will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Dora.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Virgie Arleene Massey
Services: Have been held.
Virgie Arleene Massey, 90, of Elk City, Okla., died Sunday, April 2, 2004.
She was born on Oct. 20, 1913, in the Merritt community in Oklahoma, to Jacob Gurnie Swing and Zadie Taylor Cannon.
She graduated from Merritt High School in 1952. She married Paul H. Massey on June 18, 1929, in Durant, Okla. She was a Merritt High School cafeteria cook and was a seamstress and monogrammer. She was a member of the Merritt Quilting Club and Prairie View Baptist Church, where she served as secretary, pianist, choir member and bible school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers; four sisters; a daughter; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Gwendola Nesser (and husband, Norman) of Ruidoso; a son, Dale Massey (Pat) of Elk City; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The Rev. Kendell Hamilton will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City.
Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.

Betty McCarson
Services: Have been held.
Betty McCarson, 69, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at her home in Portales.
Mrs. McCarson was born on June 30, 1934, in Lamesa, Texas, to Genevive and Russell Hardisty. Her family moved to Portales when she was small. She graduated from Portales High School in 1952 and married Joe McCarson on Nov. 18, 1954. The family lived in Farmington from 1977 to 1996, but moved back to Portales when Mr. McCarson retired. Family members said Mrs. McCarson was a devoted wife and mother. She also was an avid bingo player and loved to go to garage sales, often accompanied by her sister and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; sons Gary McCarson (wife Margaret) McCarson of Chesapeake, Va.; Frank McCarson (Tina) of Elko, Nev.; and Brad McCarson (Donia) of Taos; and daughters Vicki Wethington (Monty) of Aztec; and Judy Logan (Bobby) of Farmington. She is also survived by a brother, Russell Hardisty of Elko, Nev.; and sisters Doris Blalock and Sandra Bedinger, both of Portales; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary McCarson, Frank McCarson, Brad McCarson, Richard Blalock, Brett Bedinger and Monty Wethington.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Winston Berry and Rev. Clyde Davis.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the local hospice.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary.

Ola McCasland
Services: Have been held.
Ola Mae McCasland, 92, of Portales, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Carillon House in Lubbock.
She was born on March 18, 1912, in Portales, to Della and Sam Harris.
She grew up in the Rogers Community and graduated from Rogers High School. She worked for the local telephone company for a short time. She married Taylor McCasland, and they lived in Red River for a short time before returning to Portales in 1962. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and was known as a caring person.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leon and Orville Harris; and two sisters, Virgie Littlejohn and Una Smith.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Dr. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

David McClary
Services: Have been held.
Mr. David McClary, 66, of Portales, a retired college instructor and administrator, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Covenant Lakeside Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born Dec. 11, 1936, in Dumas, Texas, to Willie Ann and Jack McClary.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1956, where he was a personnel accounting operator. After his tour of duty, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and computer information systems at Eastern New Mexico University. He has served in a variety of positions at ENMU during his 33-year career, including assistant professor of CIS, chair of the CIS department, graduate coordinator, and assistant dean of the College of Business. He was awarded the faculty “Spirit of Eastern” Award in 1996. Family members said he enjoyed art, woodworking, fishing on the Pecos and attending services at First Baptist Church in Portales.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Geary McClary and Robert McClary; and a grandchild, Isaac Danforth.
Survivors include his wife, Vana McClary; three sons: Kelly McClary (and wife, Sheryl) and Brien McClary (Stephanie), all of Portales and John Schwab (Jean) of Dallas; two daughters, Lorri Danforth (John) of Portales and Lynlea Fleischman (Steve) of Indianapolis; three sisters: Mary Sharman (Frank) of Amarillo, Jackie Brewer (Jim) of Fort Worth and Billie Young (Ned) of Dumas; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Rev. Dr. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be in Portales Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or to The Friends of Eastern Scholarship Fund.
Wheeler Mortuary of Portales is handling arrangements.

John Elliot McClelland III

Newborns John Elliot McClelland III and Justin Alexander McClelland of Clovis died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003.
They were born Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
They were preceded in death by their paternal grandparents, John and Nettie McClelland, and a sister, Johnnia Cherie McClelland.
Survivors include their parents, John and Pamela McClelland of the home in Clovis; a brother, Chadwick Johnson; a sister, Jasmine McClelland; and grandparents, Janet Dickson and Ira and Willetta Pottard.
The Rev. R.L. Smith will officiate at the service.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.

Justin Alexander McClelland
Services: Have been held.
Newborns John Elliot McClelland III and Justin Alexander McClelland of Clovis died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003.
They were born Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
They were preceded in death by their paternal grandparents, John and Nettie McClelland, and a sister, Johnnia Cherie McClelland.

Robert McClelland
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Robert Joseph McClelland, 80, a retired auto mechanic from Clovis, died, Monday, May 31, 2004, in his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Olean, New York, to John and Lula McClelland.
Mr. McClelland was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lily Taylor, Estella Worrod, Louella Conover and Jeanne Hutchinson; and two brothers, Ed McClelland and John Arthur McClelland.
He is survived by his wife, Alene McClelland of the home in Clovis; two sons, John Dee McClelland (and wife, Judy) of Homer, La., and Edward McClelland (Rosalie) of Clarksville, Ark.; two stepsons, Cavin Jacobs (Michelle) of Gilbert, Ariz., and Charles Roebuck (Christie) of Clovis; three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
Dr. Steve McElroy will officiate the services.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.

Rosemarie McCurry
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Rosemarie McCurry, 79, of Santa Fe, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Sierra Vista Assisted Living Facility in Santa Fe.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1925, Las Vegas, N.M., to Joseph and Lillie Mae Regensberg.
She worked as an office manager for the Bigbee law firm in Santa Fe prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Elbert, Clifford, Hubert, Robert and Charlie Regensberg; and two sisters, Ellen Gunn and Lorraine Lucero.
Survivors include a sister, Bertha Wells of Clovis; and several nieces and nephews including Jack Wells of Corrales and Mike Wells of Clovis.
Cremation has taken place
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

George McGee
Services: Have been held.
Mr. George E. McGee, 79, of Clovis, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in Clovis.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1923, in Texas Creek, Colo., to Charles and Mary Green McGee.
He was a decorated World War II veteran. He married Dolores Philbrook on May 12, 1950, in Clute Texas. He moved to Clovis in 1999 and was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Hugh McGee (and wife, Naomi) of Albuquerque and Chester McGee of Grand Junction, Colo.; a daughter, Gloria McGee of Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories with military honors.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Edith McGuffin
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Edith Wheeler McGuffin, 89, of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Stardust Place in Albuquerque.
She was born on May 13, 1914, in Bethel, to Nina and Ernest N. Wheeler.
She graduated from Portales High School in 1933. She attended Eastern New Mexico Junior College in Portales and was a member of the first graduating class in 1935. She went on to complete a degree in music and art at Kansas State Teacher’s College in 1937. She taught vocal music and art at Lovington High School until 1940. She married L.W. McGuffin on Sept. 1, 1940, and because of school rules prohibiting marriage, she had to resign from teaching. She taught third grade at L.L. Brown, Steiner and James Schools from 1966 until 1978. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, E.N. Wheeler Jr.; and two sisters, Vera Audeen Wheeler and Ruth Ann Wheeler.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Nina Harper of Seal Beach, Calif., Anne MacFie (and husband, Paul Elsey) of Stanton, Ky., and Deana McGuffin of Albuquerque; a granddaughter, Trina Woodall (and husband, Brady) of Austin, Texas; and a great-grandson, Ian Woodall of Austin, Texas.
The Rev. Harry Riser will officiate the services.
Burial wil be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eldin Cooper, Scott Reeves, Otis Davis, Marlin Poynor, Howard Overby and Dewey Langston.
Honorary bearers will be C.H. Justus, Jack Carr, Dr. Jack Williamson, Melvin Lovorn, Preston and Robert Dunn, Cecil Cook, Buck Bigler, Hugh Coslett, Leo Dement, Ernest Leach and James Woodall.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Annie McKnight
Services: Have been held.
Annie May McKnight, 92, of Fort Sumner, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born Nov. 3, 1910, in Wheatland, Quay County, territory of New Mexico, to Early Ray and Emma Dotson Ray. Her mother died when McKnight was very young and she spent most of her youth in St. Louis, Mo. At 19, she moved to Yeso, N.M., to live with her brother. She married Arthur A. Keever in 1932. She and Keever divorced in 1961 and she married James McKnight in 1966.
In 1950, she began work as a telephone operator in Fort Sumner, later moving to Clovis; Albuquerque; Houston, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; and Seattle, Wash. in connection with her work. She retired from the phone company in about 1980.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James McKnight; a son, James Matthew Keever; and three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Sue Shaw (husband George) of Ranchvale; two sons, Arthur Ray Keever (wife Norma) of Conyers, Ga., and Charles Richard Keever (wife Gloria) of Santa Fe. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include David Shaw, Bobby Shaw, Cameron Shaw, Greg Keever and Steve Ray.
Visitation hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.

Edith McWherter
Services: Have been held.
Edith McWherter, 90, of House, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital in Alamogordo.
She was born on June 27, 1913, in House, to Frank and Lona Mae Dwight Kirchmeier.
She attended school at House, graduating in May 1932. She married Glen E. McWherter on June 15, 1932, in Clovis. She was a seamstress for many years and family members said she was talented. She served on the House Village Council for four years and was a lifelong member of House Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers, Elton, Elmer, Earl, Everett, Ernest and Edgar Kirchmeier.
She is survived by a brother, Ervin Kirchmeier (and wife, Wilma) of Alamogordo; two sisters-in-law Alyce Kirchmeier of California and Nina Kirchmeier of Alamogordo.
The Rev. Sherman Martin will officiate the services.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.

Mary “Sandy” Mecham
Services: Have been held.
Mary “Sandy” Mecham, 84, of Tucumcari, a homemaker, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1920, in Murphysboro, Ill., to Oscar and Mary Watt Lutz.
Family members said she will be remembered as an active sportswoman who always lived life to its fullest.
She was a lifetime Presbyterian. She served as president of Presbyterian Women for many years, taught children and youth and stayed active up to the last week of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol; two brothers, Ozzie and Robert; and a sister, Helen.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Mecham of Tucumcari; a daughter, Sharon Huffman of Big Spring, Texas; two sons, Gary Mecham of Montrose, Colo., and Patrick Mecham of Elko, Nev.; a son-in-law, Wayne Huffman; two daughters-in-law, Vonda and Melissa; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Lutz and Deede Lutz.
Cremation will take place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Tucumcari.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
