PHILLIP MICHAEL ROYBAL, 53, of Santa Fe died Monday at home after a long illness. After retiring from the state, he enjoyed working at the Cornerstone Christian Bookstore. He administered the Holy Eucharist as a eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and also to those unable to attend mass. He is survived by his wife, Mary Roybal; daughters, Jeannette Roybal and fiancé Paul Gallegos, and Jennifer Roybal and Ruben Ruiz; son, Michael Roybal and Tomasita Chacon; parents, Jose E. and Carlota Roybal; brother, Julian Roybal and wife Yolanda; sisters, Margaret Wilson and husband Louis and Lorraine Peck and husband George; one grandchild; and many other relatives. A visitation will be held at 4 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A second visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the same chapel. A third visitation will be held at 4 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the same church with burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 984-8600.

ROSE "BARBARITA" GALLEGOS, 90, of Santa Fe died Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her father, Celso Gallegos; daughter, Dora Tapia; and brother, Tony Baca. She was born in Santa Fe, the daughter of Celso and Adelaida Gallegos. She is survived by her daughter, Elise Anaya; seven grandchildren; companions, Feliz and Carmella Chavez; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at San Isidro Catholic Church with burial to follow at San Isidro Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 983-4331.

LEONEL O. MARTINEZ, 52, of Chama died Monday. He was born in Antonito, Colo. He was a corrections officer with the county of Rio Arriba. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Consuelo Martinez; and brother, Antonio Martinez, all of Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Diane Martinez of Chama; brother, Thomas Martinez and companion Gloria Chavez of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Theresa Mares and husband Tony of Denver; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chama. JUANA "GUMMA" DOMITILA ORTIZ, 81, of Taos died Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tino Ortiz. She is survived by her children, Renee Ortiz-Valerio and husband Pancho, Pat Ortiz and wife Virginia, Gigger, Henry and Victor Ortiz, Danny "Bamba" Ortiz and Erika V. Vigil and husband Lawrence; nine grandchildren; brother, Juan Abeyta and wife Rose; sisters, Eloisa and Rose Vigil, Tedora Romero, and Louisa Glantz; and many other relatives and friends. AMARANTE FRESQUEZ, 84, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Sunday.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elisa Garcia and Carmelita Chavez; and brothers, Valentin, Pete, Demetrio, Raymond, Mariano and Aladino Fresquez.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; sister, Estella Sisneros; brother, Emilio Fresquez; special nephew, Aladino Fresquez; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Nelson Funeral Home in Las Vegas, N.M. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M., with burial to follow at the San Antonio Cemetery.

VIRGINIA R. GARCIA, 96, of Española died Sunday after a sudden illness.
She was an active participant in a senior citizens program in Antonito, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Elena Ruybalid; and son, David H. Garcia.
She is survived by her children, Albert Garcia of Española, Victor F. Garcia and wife Martha of Kentucky; granddaughter raised as her daughter, Lauralee Salazar and husband Roy E. of Española; 15 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in the Sangre De Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Antonito, Colo., with burial to follow at the Mogote Presbyterian Cemetery.

ORLANDO RAUL GALLEGOS, 64, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday in Albuquerque after a long illness.
He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., and raised by his paternal grandmother Carolyn Ridenour Padilla. He attended schools in Las Vegas, Buena Vista and Albuquerque. He worked for Overton Auctioneers, Michael's Bar and Lounge and Johnny's Bar in Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Gallegos; and brothers, Kenneth, Bobby and David Jr., all of Albuquerque.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Gallegos; sister, Geraldine Gonzales; brothers, Danny Gallegos, Jimmy Gallegos, Ricky Gonzales and wife Angel, all of Colorado; daughters, Ida Marie and Maria of Albuquerque and Linda of Nevada.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial and disposal of cremains will take place at a later date in Colorado.

GERONIMO GARZA, 80, of Tecolote died Sunday at Northeastern Regional Hospital.
He was a member of a pioneer family of the Tecolote area. He was a retired railroader. He loved horses and farmed and ranched most of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucia Garza; father, Genaro Garza; brother, Luis Garza; half brother, Raymond de la Garza; and sister, Theresa Garza Cordova. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Zamora Garza of Tecolote; sister, Melecia Encinias of Raton; sons, Robert Garza and wife Maryann, Tommy Garza and wife Elaine, and Jerry Garza and wife Margie; daughters, MaryAnn Pacheco and husband Leo, Susie Quintana and husband Tony, Cynthia Vasquez and husband Gonzalo, Judy Romero and husband Jesse, all from Tecolote; half sisters, Maria Romo and husband Tony and Nora Medina and husband Anthony, all from Thornton, Colo.; half brothers, Mike Santillanes, Floyd Santillanes, and Henry Santillanes, all from Las Vegas, N.M.; stepbrother, Joe Santillanes and wife Rebecca, of Las Vegas, N.M.; 23 grandchildren; and many other relatives. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M., with burial to follow at the private family plot in Tecolote. Nelson Funeral Home, (505) 425-6551.

ROMAIN RENEE SENA, 34, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Tuesday after a long battle to recover from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 1999. She was a graduate of Robertson High School and received her bachelor of arts degree at New Mexico Highlands University. Until her injury, she was employed as a systems analyst with the Santa Fe Public Schools system. She enjoyed numerous hobbies, including skiing, traveling, jogging, tennis and rafting. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Las Vegas, N.M. She is survived by her parents, Manuel Jr. and Berna Sena, both of Las Vegas, N.M.; sister, Yolanda Skotchdopole and husband Paul of Belen; brother, Robert Sena and girlfriend, Christina Aragon, both of Las Vegas, N.M.; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at the same church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
