Mary M. Goméz, 90, of Cordillera passed away on December 29, 2006. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lorraine Gomez, parents, Benito & Auberelia Mondragón, brothers and sisters, Elfido, Elizardo, Paul and Solidea Mondragón and Eleanor Maestas stepson, George Gomez and one step grandson. She is survived by her husband Ben Goméz, daughters, Bennie M McJunkins (Ray) of Cordillera, Frances Wilson (Karl) of Chicago, Ill, Jane Nichols (Tony) of Lebanon, Missouri, and son, Robert Gomez (Alta) of Fishers ville, VA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kerry L. McJunk ins (Heidi), Michael J. McJunk ins, Robert L. Goméz Jr. (Janet), Dennis Goméz (Erin), Victoria Mininger (Brian), Brandon Wil son, Dakota and Sawyer Nichols, sister in law, Manuelita Mon dragon, step grandchildren, Tes sie Goméz Prudencio, George Goméz Jr., Benny and Marvin Goméz, Alodia Wilson Woods and David Wilson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends. Funeral service was held on January 04, 2007 at Rivera Hanlon Funeral Home. Interment was held at Los Córdovas cemetery. José G. Lucero, 70, of Arroyo Seco passed away on December 31, 2006. He was a former chief of police for the Town of Taos and Lt. Colonel in the NM National Guard, State Defense Force. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a graduate of the FBI Academy. He is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Lucero, great uncle and aunt who raised him, Pedro & Virginia Lucero. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patricia Lucero, daughter, María Montoya and husband, Martín and grandson, Miguel Montoya as well as children from a previ ous marriage, Tony, Michael, Robert, William, Mary, Helen and Donna, many grandchildren, relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on January 3, 2007. Funeral mass was held on January 4, 2007. Both services were held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Internment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery. Rodney “Dale” Norman, 50, of Questa passed away on Dec. 27, 2006. He was a member of Faith Mountain Fellowship Church in Red River. He is preceded in death by his mother, Annie McDonald Nor man and brother, Roy Glen Nor man. He is survived by his father, Roy Norman of Farmington, NM, children, Cherity Ann, Timothy and Tommy Norman, fiancée, Shirley Eyler of Questa. Judy Romero, 68, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on Dec. 30, 2006. She was a nurse in Taos for many years. She is preceded in death by her son, Juan Mendoza, parents, Lawrence and Edna Celia Hoyer, brother, Donald Hoyer and sis ter, Nelda Zwick. She is sur vived by her daughter Sophia Romero of Las Cruces, brothers, Jerry Hoyer (Mary Ann) of Irvine, CA, Richard Hoyer (Faye) and Robert Hoyer (Grace) all of Washington State Rosary was held on January 3, 2007. Funeral mass was held on January 4, 2007. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Jon Isaac Trujillo, 20, of Taos returned to the presence of our Lord on December 28, 2006. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Manuel A. Morgas, grandmother, Josephine F. Trujillo and cousin, Albert Trujillo. He is survived by his father, David R. Trujillo, Sr. of Taos, mother, Lupita Morgas of Taos, daughter, Miranda García Trujillo, brothers, David R. Trujillo, Jr (Yvonne) of Taos, Randy Morgas of Taos, sister, Lesha Renee Trujillo of El Paso, TX, grandfather, Manuel A. Trujillo, Sr., grandmother, Feloniz Durán and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Rosary was recited on January 1, 2007 at San Francisco de Asís. Horace MuddHorace Mudd was born 18 January 1911 in Greenville TX to Atha N. and Martha Crockett Mudd. The eldest of five boys, he and his family moved to Chelsea, OK in 1925 where he was educated in the Chelsea public schools and NE Oklahoma A&M College. He died peacefully on 26 December 2006 at Plaza de Retiro, his home since 1982. Horace’s early work included blacksmithing in the Army, tool and die work for Douglas Aircraft and owning his own propane delivery and shop. He was raised a Master Mason in 1947 in Chelsea Lodge 84 and was a member of Bent Lodge 42 of Taos, NM. Horace changed careers in 1950 when he was licensed to preach by the Methodist Church of Oklahoma. He took great pride that 8 of his 10 church appointments included successful building or remodeling. He built and dedicated the Fairland and Welch churches and consecrated the Church of Laverne. He also served churches at Foyl, Weletka, Konawa, Pawnee, Okemah, Boise City and Mooreland. He was preceded in death by son, Ronal and daughter, Etta Jewel, in addition to his wife Lorena and later wife Esther, surviving are his brother Edd, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on December 28, 2006 at Plaza de Retiro in Taos, NM. His cremains will be buried in the family plot in the Chelsea cemetery. Irene Rokstad, June 7, 1952 December 21, 2006, Irene passed gracefully on the hour of the winter solstice, in the oncology wing of Seattle’s Swedish hospital. A beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, Irene was a beautiful soul with a twinkle in her eye and a smile in her heart. Norwegian by heritage, crisis counselor by profession and a naturally wonderful mother, Irene approached her life with great courage and boundless optimism. She was a bohemian adventurer with a generous spirit and joyous laugh. To be in her presence was a blessing. She opened her heart and provided service to those she knew. Irene brought immeasurable warmth and wisdom into the world and radiated her divine light within the communities she called home. Irene will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by a large circle of friends and family. Her light and love continue on through her loving family: Malcolm, Tara, Taflyn, Zoë, Alistair, and Amaya. Also Siblings “Rocky” and Kari and extended family in Sebastopol, Taos, Santa Fé, British Columbia, and Kristiansund, Norway. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 30, 2006 at 3:00 pm at 2020 22nd Ave SE Olympia. A service will be held in Taos at the same time.

Lucia Ernesta R. Herrera, 93, of Taos passed on Dec. 24, 2006. She is preceded in death by her husband Elionor Herrera, sons Elías, George, Raymond and Alex Herrera, daughter Ida Medina and grandson Johnny D. Córdova. She is survived by her sons and daughters Alice Cardenas of El Prado, Roger Herrera (Rose) of Tooele, Utah, Olivia Hererra Large of Taos Roselyn Rael of Questa, Eleonora Sánchez of Taos, Patricia Young (Richard) of Río Rancho, Danny Herrera (Rita) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Irene Martínez (Rudy) of Lyden, NM She is also survived by her sister Elisa Mondragón of Ranchos de Taos, 40 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and 1 great grea tgreat grandchild. Rosary was recited on December 27, 2006. Funeral mass was held on December 28, 2006. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Fidela Quintana, 67, passed away on December 20. 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Bernadette Archuleta, one son Frankie Quintana, three brothers, Robert, Claudio, and Roger Archuleta and one sister Pina Montoya. She is survived by her husband, Frank Quintana. Three sons, Ralph (Karen) Quintana, Richard (Delsie) Quintana, Vincent (Sharon) Quintana. Two brothers, Clarence (Florence) Archuleta and Marvin (Betty) Archuleta. Two sisters, Ruth Archuleta and Fabiola (Nick) Salazar, Eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers, Marvin Archuleta, Denise Quintana, Andrea Castillo, Julian Quintana, Carlos Quintana, and Shawn Archuleta. Honorary Pal Bearers Francisca Quintana, Aliana Quintana, Ariana Quintana, and Nathaniel Quintana. A Rosary was held at 7:00 p.m. December 22, 2006, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cerro. Marian Tarleton Fox, a fine lady, was born on February 9, 1917 in Taos, NM. She died at home in Albuquerque on Monday, Christmas, December 25, 2006, at the age of 89. Marian had lived in Albuquerque since 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty seven years, Charles T. Fox. She is survived by daughter, Gretchen Fox of Albuquerque; son, Eric Fox and wife, Catie Angell of Albuquerque and daughter, Terri Fox of Albuquerque; 5 grandchildren: Craig Fox of Santa Fe, NM, Carla Fox Slater and her husband, Steve of Albuquerque, Chelsea Fox Harnish and husband, Scot of Chandler, AZ, Stephen Pack of Albuquerque and Melissa Pack of Albuquerque; and 5 great grandchildren. Marian was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 53 years, where she also served as a deacon and was actively involved in the Sunbonnet Mission Shop for many years. Mary Charlotte Heath Beals Loving, Portland, ME. Mary died November 27, 2006, at her home in Portland. She was born in Waterville, Me Dec. 9, 1927, to parents Arthur and Carlotta Heath. Mary graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield and from nursing school at St. Lukes Hospital in New York City. She is survived by two daughters, Marideth and Victoria Beals and son-in-law Barry Linder, also two sisters, Emily Nicholas of Augusta and Millicent Donahue of Scarborough, as well as 13 nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Doris Mazzaro, next to whom she will be laid to rest. A portion of her ashes will be at her family home in Fairfield as well as at her parents grave site. At a later date the remainder of her ashes will be spread over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Taos, New Mexico, which was Mary’s home for many years. Roger Jesus Chávez III, 27, of Questa passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Tiana Renee Chávez, parents, Roger Chávez Jr. of Questa and Yvonne Renee Chávez, sisters, Nicole Chávez Coleman (John Paul), Sophia and Alice Chávez all of Denver and grandfather, Manuel Chávez of Colorado Springs, Priscilla Chávez of San Jose, CA, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on April 20, 2007. Funeral mass was held on April 21, 2007. Both services were held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Questa. Interment was held at Cerro cemetery. Eileen “Crickett” Beatrice Liercke (Hawkins), 46, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on April 18, 2007. Crickett had many friends throughout New Mexico and Colorado. She has been a resident of Taos on and off for the last 28 years. She was very well known for her cooking skills and her friendly smile and her charismatic personality. She was a free spirit and we will all miss her. She is survived by children, Kalijah Chávez (Daniel) of Pueblo, CO, Mia Hayward of Costa Rica, José Archuleta of Taos and Liberty Liercke of Chico, CA, parents, Ralph & Dora Hawkins of Pueblo, CO, siblings, Dale Hawkins (Donna) of Las Vegas, NV, Kretha Colcord (Don) of Nucla, CO and Russell Hawkins (Natalie) of Kentwood, Michigan, special friends, Steve Borkert, Tillie Rael, Andrellita Chávez and sons, Tresa & Favián Trujillo and Shambu. Memorial service & reception will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at noon at the Taos Living Waters Church, 226 Herdner & Salazar. Bonifacio D. Fernández, 85, of Taos passed away on April 10, 2007. He was a retired educator who taught for 34 years in the Taos Municipal School System. He served in the Army in WWII and was part of the occupation force following the surrender of Japan. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was active at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in the Knight's of Columbus, the Sacred Heart and the Holy Name societies. He served in several ministries. In 2005 he was honored as a Taos Living Treasure. Bonifacio was preceded in death by his wife, Margarita Q. Fernández, daughter, Margaret Quintana, and infant son Lawrence Fernández. He is survived by his children, David Fernández (Connie) of Taos, Tomas Fernández (Victoria Mora) of Santa Fe, Cathy Fernández (Chris Christiansen) of Albuquerque, Albert Fernández (Patricia) of Santa Cruz and Christopher Fernández (Cleo) of Des Montes. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, including Elena Fernández, whom he raised as a daughter, 2 great grandchildren, son in law Gerald Quintana, and a large and close-knit extended family. Rosaries were recited on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment followed at Dolores cemetery. Richard A. Hartman, 86, of Questa passed away on April 12, 2007. He was born October 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, Penn., Richard entered the service in July 1942. He was inducted at Fort Oglethorpe, GA and took basic training at Kessler Field, Miss., from there he was sent to Buckley Field, Colo. for Air Armament training, learning everything about armor on airplanes. In June, 1943, Mr. Hartman boarded the Queen Mary converted to a troop ship. Shortly thereafter, he arrived in England and was stationed at Raydon Field, Ipswich. At the end of the war, he was discharged in Atlanta, returned to Memphis and went back to work for Chicago & Southern Airlines. After a short period, he moved to Los Angeles. He was married in 1951. He moved then to Colorado Springs. He leased a Texaco service station in Fairplay, Colo. He remarried in 1978 after his first wife passed away. He retired in 1982 and settled in Taos County in early 2006. He was a lifetime member of the VFW (Mississippi), member of the Lions Club and Elks Club. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cynthia Jane Hartman, his grandson, David Dimond, his nephew, Robert Hartman, stepchildren, Kelli-Jo S. Kipp, Christina Herndon, Todd Schweer, and Eric Schweer and several cousins. Graveside services with VFW & Military Honors was held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Santa Fe National cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Griego, 58, of Española passed away on April 13, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, George, brothers and sisters, Henry, Leo, David, Jimmy, Toby and Rube´n Santistevan and Evelyn Medina. She is survived by her sisters, Gloria Alaniz and Angie Santistevan, many nieces and nephews. Graveside service was held on April 16, 2007 at San José cemetery in Hernández. Manuel Tomas Tollardo Sr., 55, of Taos passed away on April 13, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio & Cornelia Tollardo, brothers and sisters, Virgil, and Franklin Tollardo, Angelina Tollardo, Louisa Gómez and Christina Ruiz. He is survived by his wife, Antoinette J. García, children, Carla C. García, Santiago, Manuel II, Rosalie, Maria, Lynn, Juanita and Peter Tollardo. He is also survived by grandchildren, Star, Angel and other grandchildren, brothers, David, Salomon, Elis, Gilbert and Lawrence Tollardo, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives. Tomas “Dirty Sally” Martinez, 53, of Taos passed away on April 10, 2007. He was a veteran of the US National Guard and a 1973 graduate of Taos High School. He is preceded in death by his parents, Irene & Ben Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Trujillo Martinez, children, Rhonda Rael (Victor) of Questa, Angel and Nora Martinez, Cindy, Dennis, DeAnna and Jon, brother, Benny Martinez and sister, Sharon Anderson (Bob). He is also survived by several grandchildren, aunts, uncles and other relatives. Funeral service was held on April 13, 2007 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Emelina Archuleta García, 92, of 1121 Main Street, Reliance, Wyoming passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River, Wyoming. A resident of Reliance since 1942, Mrs. García had been in ill health for the past several years. She was born on October 17, 1914 in Llano Quemado, New Mexico, the daughter of the late Juan Batista and Elijia Romero Archuleta. Mrs. García attended school in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. She married Manuel Alfredo García in Ranchos de taos, New Mexico in 1931 and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1996. Her interests included playing piano, cooking and making clothes for her family, listening to the radio program Queen For A Day, later watching television Walker Texas Ranger and Everybody Loves Raymond were her favorite programs and sitting outside on her porch looking at the hills. Survivors include two sons Tanislado García and wife Ann of Portland, Oregon and Mickey García of Rock Springs, Wyoming; twin daughters Billie Carrillo and husband Louie of Reliance and Mary Madrid and husband Frank of Taos, New Mexico; five grandsons John Michael García, Lance García, Mark Carrillo, Danny García and Frankie Madrid; twelve granddaughters Carolyn Cunningham, Linsay García, Jamie Kerbs, Kristi Carrillo, Rosie García, Holly Abram, April Hendrix, Amber Abram, Melissa Abram, Evelyn Rael, Yolanda Vigil and Pam Madrid; eleven great-grandchil- den including Shaun Kerbs, Josia Abram, Shainia Carrillo, Emmy Abram and Vanessa Vigil. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons Francisco Batista García, Francisco Alfredo García and John Eloy García; two daughters Angela Beverage and Helen Abram; three brothers Hipolito, Timoteo and Ricardo Archuleta and two sisters Maclovia Romo and Eloisa Maestas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs, Wyoming. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 5:30 P.M. at the at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Section of the Rock Springs, Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again at the church on Wednesday afternoon one hour prior to services.

Elia LeDoux, 79, of Los Córdovas passed away on April 05, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. LeDoux. She is survived by her children, Len, Loretta and Joe LeDoux all of Los Córdovas, grandchildren, Paul A. LeDoux and Luke LeDoux. Rosary was recited on April 09, 2007. Funeral mass was held on April 10, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held on April 11, 2007 at Santa Fe National cemetery. Rubén Orlando Vigil, 89, of Taos left this earth a happy and well loved husband, father, grandfather and friend on April 03, 2007. Ruben served in Europe during World War II and was injured. He returned to New Mexico and received a B.A. He worked in the Taos Post Office for over twenty years, retiring as Postmaster in 1971. He was the commander of the Taos DAV Chapter for 50 years and a life long Kiwanian. Ruben's favorite activities were gardening and fishing. He is preceded in death by his sons, Orlando Vigil, Bert and Stanley Witka. He is survived by his wife, Crucita Vigil, daughters, Yolanda VigilHenderson (Mark) of Nevada, Katie Vigil of Denver, grandchildren, Dawn Otero, Stanley Ruben Witka, Crucita Clinton (Mark), Meredith Amy Viola (Anthony), Joshua Vigil Daniel, great grandchildren, Jaime, Rudee and Casey Otero, Eryn Witka, Vanessa and Maya Clinton, brother, Fred Montoya, sister, Stella Pena and numerous other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on April 08, 2007. Funeral mass was held on April 09, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Santa Fe National cemetery.
