Paul R. "Pete" Adams
Paul R. "Pete" Adams, 71, was tragically killed while flying his single engine plane on Saturday, August 25, 2007. Pete was a long time resident of Taos, New Mexico. Pete was born on October 12, 1935 in Gallion, OH. He was the eldest son of Paul R. and Vivian Adams. He attended Princeton University, class of 1957. Pete was loved and admired by his peers. He was an avid motorcyclist, pilot and golfer. Pete had a passion for life that enriched the lives of those around him. He was a devoted father and grandfather. His happiest times were those spent with his children and grandchildren. Pete is survived by his three sons, Paul R. "Pete" III of Winnetka, IL, Michael of Albuquerque and Christopher of Ann Arbor, MI. He was adored by his four grand daughters, Alyssa, Kelsey and Janet Adams of Albuquerque and Samantha Adams of Winnetka, IL. He is also survived by his brother Arthur Adams and his wife Marti of Springfield, MA and sister Vivian Adams Nylander of Albuquerque. He was loved and cherished by his daughters in law, Danette Kreider Adams of Albuquerque and Marguerite Quinn of Winnetka, IL and his niece Danielle Adams of Salt Lake City, UT. He was a friend to many, including his cherished dogs, Chewy and Charlie. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate the life of this wonderful man will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10 AM at the Taos Country Club in Taos NM.

Eloy Esquipula Cardenas
Died on August 13, 2007
Eloy Esquipula Cardenas, 76, Of Ranchitos passed away on August 11, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Josefita Cardenas, brothers, Benerito, Floverto and Luis Cardenas, sisters, Semonita Cardenas, Evila Ortega and niece, Doris Cardenas. He is survived by his brother, Enrique Cardenas of Tooele, Utah, sisters, Manuelita Pacheco (Leroy) and Elvira Quintana (Bolivar) and several nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday August 15, 2007 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday August 16, 2007 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Interment will follow at the Los Cordovas cemetery.

Paul LeRoy Garcia
Died on August 4, 2007
Paul LeRoy Garcia, 71, peacefully passed away August 4, 2007 after a long illness.
Born in Embudo August 17, 1935 and a life-long resident of Taos, he graduated from Menaul High School in 1953 and UNM in 1959 with a B.A. in accounting.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Taos where he served as Treasurer and Elder. He served his country for many years on the Selective Service Board and his special concern and service given to improve the quality of life for New Mexicans through his membership in the Kiwanis Club, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served as president of the Taos County Chamber of Commerce, and was active in civic and community affairs.
He worked in his father's business, North Pueblo Home Supply founded in 1952, and then as administrator of Holy Cross Hospital prior to opening Paul's Clothes for Men and Garcia Tax Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rumaldo M. and Teodorita Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Garcia, four children, Yvonne Castillo (Daniel), Andy Garcia, Rumaldo Garcia III (Erma), Paula Garcia, eight step-children, Debra de la Torre (Luis), Diane Seiler, Steven Seiler (Karen), Kevin Seiler (Robin), Floyd Ayala, David Ayala, Anthony Ayala, and Barbara Bush, grandchildren Phyllis, Tabitha, Valerie, Gabriel, Matthew, and Michael, five great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who loved him very much and five aunts, Rose Martinez, Lucia Arellano, Viola Wilson, Frances Chaconand Connie Pacheco.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 07, 2007 at 6 PM at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 08, 2007 at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Taos. Memorial contributions may be sent to Menaul School in Albuquerque and the Kiwanis Club of Taos

Juan Martinez
Died on August 23, 2007
Juan A. Martinez, 83, of Taos Pueblo passed away on August 21, 2007. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Martinez, parents, Sefriano and Juanita Martinez and his brother Antonio Martinez. He is survived by his daughter, Arlene Lujan (Joseph) and grandchildren, Alicia and John Lujan.
Burial will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 10
AM at the Las Cruces cemetery.

Lila Rodriguez
Died on August 27, 2007
Lila Rodriguez, 90, of Taos passed away on August 27, 2007. She is preceded in death by her parents, Salomon and Irene Rael and brothers, Moises, Juan Benito, Eugenio, Elirio and Malaquias Rael. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bailquin Rodriquez and children, Gloria Lewis (Kent), Tranquilino Rodriguez (Ozelda) Marla Sullivan (Robert), Daniel Rodriguez (Nancy), and Kenneth Rodriguez, her sister, Priscilla Gaillour (Johnny). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 7PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment to follow at the Sierra Vista cemetery.

Merly Tafoya
August 20, 2007
Merly Rodarte Tafoya, 67, of Penasco, N.M. was born April 5, 1940 in Llano, N.M. to Rubel and Raquel M. Rodarte. She past away August 20, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her father Rubel and her two infant sons, Daniel and Michael Tafoya. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David L. Tafoya Sr. Her children David Tafoya Jr. "Boy" and wife Nanette Tafoya, Joyce Tafoya Vaughan and husband Ronnie Vaughan, Carmela Tafoya Jaramillo and husband Eric Jaramillo, Daniel M. Tafoya and wife Rachel Tafoya, Louise Tafoya C de Baca and husband Reuben C de Baca, Elena May Tafoya and daughters, Merly-Renae, Margarita and Martina, ten other grandchildren, Davina Tafoya Lucero and husband Ernest Lucero, Amanda, Angela, LeAndra, Wesley, Daniella, Bradley, Nancy-Larissa, Carolina, and Maximiliano and three great-grandchildren, David-Xavier, Ernest Elijah, and Tristanee. She is also survived by her mother Raquel M. Rodarte, six brothers, and four sisters. Merly's greatest joy was being in her kitchen and cooking for her family. She also loved to make quilts, loved her friends and her involvement in RCIA classes through the church. She will be missed dearly.
Rosary was recited at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco. Funeral mass will be held at San Antonio de Padua Church on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Llano de San Juan Catholic cemetery.

Juan Tafoya
Died on August 25, 2007
Juan "Chamiso" Tafoya, 98, of Taos passed away on August 25, 2007. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, he was very hard worker, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and also loved to play the violin especially Northern New Mexico Folk music. He is preceded in death by his wife, Escolastica Tafoya, his sons, Mike Tafoya and Leroy, parents, Miguel and Demacia Tafoya, granddaughter, Roberta C de Vaca and grandsons, Phillip Tafoya Jr. and Lloyd Tafoya. He is survived by his children, Eva C de Vaca (Tiny) of Santa Fe, Rachel Apodaca (Reyes) of Santa Fe, Johnny Tafoya (Anita) of Taos, Art Tafoya of Taos, Irene Ortiz of Santa Fe, Gil Tafoya (Brenda) of Taos, Louie Tafoya of Taos, Margaret Ruiz of California, Isaac Tafoya of Taos, Phillip Tafoya (Angela) of Taos and Edwin Tafoya of Taos, along with 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited on August 28, 2007 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos, Funeral mass will be held August 29, 2007 at 12PM at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church, with internment to follow at Nuestra Senora de Dolores cemetery in Canon.

Rosalie Talbott
Died on August 29, 2007
Rosalie Virginia Talbott-Born June 9, 1918. Deceased August 29, 2007. Born in Oklahoma City, OK June 9, 1918, Rosalie moved with her parents, Emma and Raymond Talbott to Tulsa, Ok in 1923. At age six, she was chosen to study piano at the University of Tulsa with teacher, Helen C. Ringo.
With a dedication of spirit and exceptional talent, Rosalie was accepted to New York's prestigious Julliard School of Music in 1940. She shared her amazing talent in a number of venues while living in New York, including an acclaimed Town Hall debut.
Upon returning to Tulsa in 1948, Rosalie opened a piano studio, hoping to nurture young talent and foster a love of the piano, classical music and continued to concretize.
In 1954, Rosalie originated the young Artists Auditions with the Tulsa Philharmonic Society. Also, during the same year, she founded Concertime, now known as Chamber Music Tulsa, which provided the intimate setting for which chamber music requires. Rosalie remained as a member of the Chamber Music Tulsa's board and Executive Director until her move to Taos, NM in 1969.
Rosalie co-founded the Tulsa Civic Ballet with her close friends, Roman Jasinski and Moscelyne Larkin in 1955.
Throughout her life and career, Rosalie has served as a member of the National Committee for the Musical Arts, Inc., in New York City; as President and Chairman of the Board., Tulsa Accredited Music Teacher's Association, and was accredited by the National organization; was a member of the first Board of Directors, Women's Association of the Tulsa Philharmonic Society; Secretary and board member, Tulsa Civic ballet; member of Sigma Alpha lota, Hyechka Club, Piano Study Club and Julliard School of Music Alumni Association.
It was said that when Rosalie left Tulsa in 1969 for her adopted home in Taos, NM, she left behind her home city with a "distinctly improved cultural climate". In Taos, she continued to concretize and serve on boards of both musical and art associations. She enjoyed a "second" career as assistant to the late renowned artist, R.C. Gorman.
When Rosalie had "spare" time, she loved to fish. A drive anywhere in her beloved mountains always refreshed her spirit. She loved playing tour guide for visiting friends or improvising a "concert" to the delight of guests at her home.
She was the embodiment of warmth, generosity and loving friendship to all who knew her. A friend of Rosalie's was always a close friend.
Rosalie is survived by her beloved cousin, Annalee Veach of Taos, NM. She is also survived by dearest friends Mary Harvey of Taos, NM and Sallie Kaho of Freeport, FL.

Edmundo Vigil
Died on August 7, 2007
Edmundo L. Vigil, 76, of Taos passed away on August 07, 2007. He is preceded in death by his son, Jose B. Vigil, parents, Jose B. Vigil and Josefita Vigil, father-in law, Carlos J. Trujillo, mother-in-law, Amelia Trujillo, sisters, Frances Gallegos, Margaret Alarid and Mela LeDoux, brothers, Benito, Juanito and Leo Vigil and dear friend Dolores Struck. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Aurora Vigil, children, Carla Castle, Francisco Vigil (Becky), Antonio Vigil (Dossy), Patrick Vigil (Celsa) and Lourdes Martinez. He is also survived by his sisters, Esmeralda Martinez and Martha Suiter, brothers, Orlando Vigil and Alfonso Vigil (Loretta), brothers-in-law, Willie Gallegos, Richard LeDoux and George Trujillo (Isabel), sister-in-law, Carolina Hall and dear friend and cousin Bernabe Struck, grandchildren, Danielle Vigil, Zacarias Martinez, Christina Vigil, Esther Lucero-Vigil, Gabriel Martinez, Tanya Martinez, Carlos Vigil and Katie Vigil, great grandson, Estevan Benito Martinez and many nieces, nephews and adopted grandchildren.
Rosaries were recited on Wednesday, August 08, 2007 at Rivera Chapel and on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church in Ranchos de Taos, Funeral mass was held on Friday, August 10, 2007 at San Francisco de Asis Church, interment followed at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Christopher Lyle Cardin
September 10, 2007
Christopher Lyle Cardin, 54, recently of Taos, formerly of Cumming, GA crossed over on his journey on September of 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robbie Cardin and Joanne Pleasant. He is survived by his wife Mary Cardin and his boy Santana, brother, Ross Cardin (Debbie) of Hardy, Arkansas and sister, Mary Jo Gardere (John) of Dallas, TX, step sisters, Charlotte Ernest (Larry) of Leeds, Alabama, Kathy Weaver (Mike) of Lima, Peru and many loving nieces and nephews.

Connie Dimas
Died on September 16, 2007
Connie Dimas, 70, of Taos, passed away on September 16, 2007. She was a care giver with the Mountain Home Health care. She enjoyed embroidery, bead work and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tiburcio and Martina Dimas, brothers, Jacobo and Hignio Dimas and sisters, Rita and Agneda Dimas and companion Lito Romero. She is survived by her children, Andrew Gonzales (Violanda), Cecilia Dimas, Christine Martinez (Gerald) and Gabino Dimas, grandchildren, Corine Dimas, Raelyn Dimas, Santana Martinez, Esperanza Martinez, and Maria Elena Martinez and great-grandchild, Matthew Sanchez.
Rosary was September 19, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was on September 20, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church interment followed at the Las Cruces cemetery.

Darwin D. Malott
Died on September 5, 2007
Darwin D. Malott,77, of Taos passed away September 5, 2007.
He was a Lawrence Kansas High School graduate where he excelled in both foot ball and track. He attended college at Kansas University and Bethany College in Lindborg, Kansas. He was in the Kansas National Guard. He was a third generation owner of Malott Hardware Store of Lawrence, Kansas. He moved to Taos in 1988 with his wife Lori where he retired. He worked home construction for six years. He loved gardening, building projects and designing water gardens. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Terrell Graham. He is survived by his wife, Lori Malott, son, Kevin Malott of San Diego, CA, son in law, Jack Graham of Lawrence, KS, grandchildren, Justin and Mason Graham of Lawrence, KS and Haley Graham of Kansas City, KS. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
