Traci Ann Pokelsek-Baarsma

Services for Traci Ann Pokelsek-Baarsma, 42, who died June 4, 2007, will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Palm Mortuary-Eastern in Las Vegas.

She was born May 18, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a 26-year resident of southern Nevada.

She worked as an aesthetician at a hotel spa.

Her husband Greg B. Baarsma and son Painter Baarsma, both of Henderson; mother Jo Thorne of Pahrump; father Jim Thorne of Pahrump; sisters Kathryn Rankin of Pahrump and Mechelle Thorne of Redondo Beach, Calif.; best friends, dogs Buttons and Maggie; nephews Jonathan and Joshua; niece Jayme; grandmother Dolores Thorne of Kirtland, Ohio; stepmother Barb Pokelsek of Cleveland; and mother-in-law Barbara Baarsma of Lawndale, Calif., survive her.

Her father Bob Pokelsek preceded her in death.

Donations may be made at any Bank of America to the Traci Ann Pokelsek-Baarsma Medical Account.

Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary-Eastern, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., in Las Vegas. Interment will take place at Palm Valley View cemetery. (06/04/07)

Henry Lee Bowland

In memory of Henry Lee Bowland Sr.

Born in Springfield Mo., Sept. 21, 1925, and married to Lillian Joyce Bowland Jan. 20, 1951 at Christian Knott Ave., in St. Louis Mo., Henry leaves behind his wife and four children; Robert W. Bowland, Henry Lee Bowland Jr., Marcha A. Lippolt and wonderful son-in-law Keith D. Lippolt.

He also leaves sister Helen and family; cousin Tony and family; five grandchildren, Sharlene M. Breeze, Laura D. Davis, Joseph A. Lasecki, Justin Lippolt and Lindsey Harter; and four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Lasecki, Courtney Davis, Dominik and Isabella Harter.

Henry died at 4:07 a.m. May 21, 2007, at Nathan Adlsen Hospice in Las Vegas. Cremation will take place at Desert Memorial in Las Vegas. He will then be buried at Forest Lawn in Cyrpess, Calif., beside his sister Edna, son Russell D. Bowland, mother Edith and aunt Mary.

He was dearly loved by all. (05/21/07)

Lenore Manning

Services for Lenore Manning, 68, who died June 3, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Pahrump Moose Lodge, 1100 Second St.

She was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Monrovia, Calif. She was a 14-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Victorville, Calif.

She was a member of the Moose and the Sweet Adelines and attended Trinity Assembly of God Church.

Her husband Conrad Manning of Pahrump; daughter Donna Corey-Romer of California; son Ron Kirby of Silver Springs; and four grandchildren survive her.

Her brothers Urban, Harold, Leonard preceded her in death.

Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (06/03/07)

Peggy Yomnick

A memorial service for Peggy Yomnick, 81, who died May 23 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, will be held at her husband Ed's home at 1 p.m. today, 2780 W. Irene St.

She was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Long Beach, Calif.

After years of being a career woman, Peggy and her husband Edward "Ed" Yomnick retired to Pahrump in 1984.

She is survived by her husband and soulmate Ed; daughter Beverly 'Ralph' Baker of Pahrump; stepson Edward Yomnick of Happy Valley, Ore.; stepdaughters Sharon Case of Oregon and Karen Wysong of Florida; sister-in-law Rachel Lee; grandsons Collin Harrison of Las Vegas and George Avakian of Pioche; and great-grandchildren Kess and Conner Harrison and Seth Avakian of Utah. She also leaves behind countless friends and coworkers.

Her brother John D. Lee and nephew Bob Lee preceded her in death.

She will be missed immensely and all who knew her were blessed to have her in their lives.

Lydia Zunter

Lydia Zunter, 86, died May 28, 2007, at her home in Corning, Calif.

She was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Hillsview, S.D., to Margaret and Emanuel Delker.

She lived and worked in Sheboygan, Wis., before moving to Southern California in 1954. She has been a resident of Corning since 1974 and was a cook at the Woodson Bridge Care during the construction of the new bridge.

Her sister Marie Schuetz; daughter (Ed) Barbara Kimble of Pahrump; Ronald and Janet Zunter of Corning; grandchildren Michael Zunter, Patti Gullinger, Robert and Theresa Zunter, Gary "Dusty" Rhoades and Edward and Richard Kimble; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive her.

Her husband of 43 years, Frank; sisters Bertha and Katie; and brother Emanuel preceded her in death. (05/28/07)

Kenneth Acker

Services for Kenneth L. Acker, 69, of Nevada, formerly of Illinois and Wisconsin, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Road in Forest Park, Ill.

He was the beloved husband of Mary; loving father of Cindy (John) Taylor; proud grandfather of Karly Taylor; dear brother of Natalie Esser, Tom Acker, Christine (Vince) Dembinski, Bonnie (Stephen) Kettner, Wendy (Bob) Fendrick, Ron Acker and the late Johnny Acker; and kind nephew of many and loving uncle to many.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 1480 E. Calvada Blvd., Pahrump, NV 89048.

Lynn Blethen

Lynn "Blitz" Blethen, 76, of Pahrump, died May 6, 2007.

He was born Dec. 15 in Crystal Lake, Ill. He was a 22-year resident of Pahrump.

He was an active job superintendent for the construction industry, building hotels and commercial buildings all over the United States.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, having tours of duty in Korea, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and other decorations.

"Blitz" is survived by his wife Donna; sons Shawn (Denise) of California, Robert (Janet) of Nevada; daughter Sheila (Bill) Casto; and granddaughter Casey.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Pahrump VFW, 4651 S. Homestead Road. The service will be conducted by The Marine Corps League.

Donations in his memory in lieu of flowers may be made to The Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 5481, Pahrump, NV 89041. (05/06/07)

Beverly Pitch

Beverly K. Pitch, 60, of Coatesville, Pa., died May 20, 2007, at Brandywine Hospital.

She was the wife of Harry E. Pitch, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of Esther Wertz Keylor of Coatesville and the late Robert H. Keylor.

She lived in Pahrump from 1995 to 2000.

She was employed for 27 years by Krapf's as a school bus driver and instructor. She was a member of the Pomeroy Fire Company and Parkesburg VFW Post No. 4480 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was beautiful person and will be greatly missed.

Beverly is survived, in addition to her husband and mother, by sons Dennis C. (Tracy) Pitch of Narvon, Darren F. (Cheryl) Pitch of Honeybrook and Michael T. (Jennifer) Pitch of Newark, Del.; daughter Kathy L. (Joe) Gallagher of East Earl; eight grandchildren; and brother Robert H. Keylor.

She was preceded in death by brother Rusty Keylor.

Funeral Services were held May 24 in Parkesburg, followed by interment in Romansville, Pa. (05/20/07)

Vera Knott

Services are pending for Vera T. Knott, 97, who died May 22, 2007, in Las Vegas.

She was born Dec. 31, 1909, in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a five-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Mineral, Va.

She worked in manufacturing and was employed by Hall China. She retired in 1972.

She attended United Methodist Church.

Her son George Knott and daughter Sally A. Knott, both of Pahrump, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive her.

Her husband George W. Knott and sisters Ethel, Pearl, Dorothy and Alice preceded her in death.

Ruth Koneck

Services for Ruth E. Koneck, 67, who died May 29, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (viewing at 9 a.m.) at Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial held at Chief Tecopa cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

She was born July 12, 1939, in Flint, Mich. She was an eight-year resident of Pahrump, coming from California.

Ruth worked in the food service industry. She enjoyed quilting, card stamping, painting craft, gardening, cooking and embroidery.

Her husband Gary Koneck; son Christopher Guarascio; daughters Catherine Villani and Lori Rico; brother Howard Turner; and grandchildren Joshua and Jeremy Hilborn, Airiana Guarascio, Brandon, Aaron, Dillon and Leah Rico survive her. (05/29/07)

Suzanne Mock

A memorial service for Suzanne Mock, 66, who died May 29, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lee Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born Aug. 14, 1940, in Detroit, Mich. She was an 11-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

She worked as a travel agent and loved travel and cruising.

Her husband of 37 years Jan Mock of Pahrump, daughter Teresa (Lance) Kubon of Las Vegas and 12 grandchildren survive her. (05/29/07)

Carl K. Hampton

Carl K. Hampton passed away July 22, 2007, at his home in Crystal.

He was born Oct. 25, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo. He worked as an EMT and volunteer firefighter for the town of Crystal. He was a loving husband, father and brother.

His wife, three sons, five grandchildren, three adopted grandchildren and a sister survive him.

An open house will be held at this home, 11 Bridle Way in Crystal from 1-4 p.m. July 28. (07/22/07)
