Francine Campbell
OTEGO — Francine A. Campbell, 59, of Otego passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 9, 1946, in Oneonta, the daughter of George A. and Helen T. (Baldwin) Ouimet.
She married Joseph W. Campbell on March 7, 1970, in Oneonta.
Francine worked for many years as a pharmaceutical clerk at various local pharmacies.
She was a 1964 graduate of Oneonta High School and was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She also was a member of the Oneonta American Legion Auxiliary Unit 259.
Francine especially enjoyed her friends and the time shared at the weekly breakfast club held at the American Legion.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph W. Campbell of Otego; her children, Chris Thomas and her husband, Ron, of West Oneonta, and Brian Campbell and his wife, Danielle, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her three very special granddaughters with whom she loved spending her time, Erica Thomas, Racheal Webster and Katelyn Campbell; and her sisters and brother, Yvonne (Charles) Luckhurst of Oneonta, Norbert (Thelma) Ouimet of New Bern, N.C., and Emily (Ted) Gaisford of Oneonta. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and her pet dogs, Elliott and Kita.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, in Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Steven Moore, associate pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home Friday.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Otego.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Department FH, Oneonta, NY 13820 or the Oneonta American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 259, 279 Chestnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Norman A. Sieme
CHERRY VALLEY — The Reverend Norman A. Sieme, a resident of Cherry Valley and former Rector of Grace Church, Cherry Valley, and Saint Mary’s Church, Springfield Center, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005.
Surviving are his children, Kevin, Warren, Laura Giordano and James; as well as eight grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley.
A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the Christ Church, Cooperstown, with the Right Rev. David Bena, Bishop of Albany, and the Rev. Samuel Abbot, Rector of Christ Church, Cooperstown, officiating.
Committal services will follow in the Christ Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christ Church, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

PRATTSVILLE — Graveside services for Thomas P. Johnson, 46, who passed away Jan. 9, 2005, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Prattsville.
Thomas was born April 20, 1958.

Beatrice Cleveland
GILBOA — Beatrice M. Cleveland, 88, of Gilboa passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
Beatrice was born Dec. 25, 1916, in the town of Gilboa, the daughter of Howard and Myrtle (Baker) Cornell.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Wells, and her second husband, Orley Cleveland.
Beatrice was a homemaker and for several years had taken in boarders. She was a lifelong town of Gilboa resident and attended the Flat Creek Baptist Church.
Beatrice is survived by one sister, Helen Morse, Gilboa; and three nieces, one nephew and one cousin.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the Miller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in the Jefferson Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson.
In memory of Beatrice M. Cleveland, donations may be made to the Flat Creek Baptist Church, 822 Flat Creek Road, Gilboa, NY 12076.

COOPERSTOWN — Ellen Johansen, 92, formerly of Susquehanna Avenue, Cooperstown, died Monday morning, May 2, 2005, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion.
Graveside services will be held at a later date during the summer.

Joyce E. Thorsland
OTEGO — Graveside committal services for Joyce E. Thorsland will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, in the Westville Cemetery, with the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, officiating.
Mrs. Thorsland passed away Jan. 4, 2005, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.

Dorothy Quarltere
ROXBURY — Dorothy E. Quarltere, 78, of Roxbury passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Albany Medical Center, Albany.
She was born March 15, 1927, in Westbury, the daughter of Raymond Brown and Dorothy Bird.
Dorothy married William P. Quarltere on March 5, 1947, on Long Island. He died Feb. 7, 1988.
She was a resident of Roxbury for 20 years, moving from Patchogue. She was employed as a sales person for Terra Real Estate Company in Margaretville.
Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed her work, cooking and her family. She always had a positive attitude, no mater what the situation was.
Dorothy is survived by four sons, Alan and Lauren Quarltere, Robert Quarltere, Bruce and Dorothy A. Quarltere, and Larry Quarltere; one sister, Carol Buchanan; one brother, Larry Brown; a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Quarltere; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son, William R. Quarltere.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005, in Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating.
Burial will be in Roxbury Cemetery, Roxbury.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Roxbury Fire Department Ambulance Fund.

Frederick J. Moore
HOLMESVILLE — Frederick John Moore, 57, of Holmesville died Thursday, May 5, 2005, in Norwich after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 24, 1947, in Sidney, the son of Kenneth Dixson Moore and Rolla Florence Schlafer Moore.
Fred worked alongside his father in Moore’s Mobil Station in Morris. He worked 13 years as a C.N.A. at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford and as a nurse’s aid at Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta. He also did many years of private-duty care and for Hospice in Otsego County.
He loved camping, Hunts Pond, his Aunt Nellie Moore and a good time. One of his greatest achievements was his journey with A.A. Fred leaves behind many great friends.
He is survived by his siblings, Gordon and Barbara Moore of New Lisbon, Mona Moore Waffle and husband Glen of Morris, Joseph and Jane Moore of Maryland, Thomas and Lorraine Moore of Morris, Ormond and Pam Moore of Gilbertsville, and Cindy Gibson of Oneonta. Fred never had children of his own, but was blessed with 17 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces and -nephews, all of whom he adored.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Gary Robert Moore; a nephew, Kevin Brent Moore; his grandparents, Frederick Schlafer and his beloved grandmother, Mabel Schlafer, and John Tracy Moore and Elva Jane Moore; as well as two grandnieces, Whitney and Marina.
Fred and his family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful care and staff of the Butternut Valley Health Center of Morris, Dr. Bravin and the cancer center of Bassett Chenango Memorial Hospital and the Gilmour Health Care Facility in Norwich.
Fred would like everyone to know "Love and forgiveness are the greatest gifts of all."
Friends are asked to make donations to the Louis Busch Cancer Center, 1 Atwell Road, Cooperstown, NY 13326 for the awareness of Barret’s disease and cancer.
There will be no calling hours; however, family and friends will gather together at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Hunts Pond to celebrate Fred’s life.
Interment of Fred’s cremains will be later at the convenience of the family in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Upton.

Virginia Barnhart
SIDNEY — Virginia S. Barnhart, 83, formerly of Northfield, passed away Friday, May 6, 2005, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, after a long illness.
Mrs. Barnhart was born in Apex on Oct. 3, 1921, the daughter of the late Edwin and Florence Moore Sprague.
She was a graduate of Hancock High School.
She married Harry J. Barnhart in 1942. He died March 7, 1977.
She was a clerk, employed by Stockton Avenue Market, Walton, for many years. She loved to bowl and belonged to leagues in Walton and Bainbridge. She was a club mother of the Future Homemakers of America, 4-H leader, Girl Scout troop leader, dance club organizer and avid gardener. She loved dogs and horses.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Barnhart of Sidney; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Harold Sprague, and one sister, Ena Palmatier.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, at Walton Cemetery, with the Rev. Peggy Fabrizio officiating.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Barnhart’s memory may be made to the Dialysis Unit, Bassett Healthcare’s Oneonta Specialty Services, River Street, Oneonta.
Thomas G. Jensen
FREEVILLE — Thomas Gordon Jensen, 72, of Freeville died Friday, May 6, 2005.
Born April 19, 1933, in the town of Kortright, he was the son of Mary (Jorgensen) and Paul Jensen.
Thomas was a 1950 graduate of South Kortright Central School and worked at Chase Manhattan Bank from 1950 to 1953. A veteran of the United States Army, he was a military policeman stationed in Sweinfurt, Germany, from 1953 to 1955. He was a postgraduate of Oneonta High School in 1956.
He married Barbara Dehning on Sept. 8, 1956, at the Atonement Lutheran Church, Oneonta.
He graduated from Clarkson College of Technology, Potsdam, in 1960 and worked for Scintilla Bendix Corporation in Sidney from 1960 to 1963, and IBM in Endicott, White Plains and Poughkeepsie from 1963 to his retirement in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; four children, Fred and wife Kathy of Owego, Jim and wife Kathy of Phoenix, Ariz., Susan and husband Jeff Cannon of Endicott and Andrew and wife Tracy of Wappingers Falls; nine grandchildren, Jenelle, Brittany, Rachel and Courtney of Owego, Patrick, Nicky and Lucas of Phoenix, Ariz., Eric of Endicott and Tommy of Wappingers Falls; and a nephew and wife, John and Lisa Maloney of Owego.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul in 1946, sister, Ruth Maloney in 1998 and another sister in 1999.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 9, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 William St., Groton.
Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Oneonta immediately following.

COOPERSTOWN — A graveside service of committal and burial for Thelma A. Hatch, 87, who died Dec. 19, 2004, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
