Madelaine L. Deyns
FLEISCHMANNS — Madelaine L. Dayns, 73, of Fleischmanns died Jan. 3, 1998 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.

She was born June 2, 1924 in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Leon Bruchez and Margarita Lemp. She married John L. Deyns February 1944; he died on April 29, 1974.

Mrs. Deyns was a secretary in the engineering department of Grumman Aerospace at Bethpage, retiring in August 1986 after working for 29 years. She moved to Fleischmanns in October 1986, a prior resident of Bethpage and Farmingdale.

She was a member of the Cerebral Palsy Auxiliary in Farmingdale and for many years enjoyed playing Pinochle.

Survivors include her significant other, William J. Cross of Fleischmanns; one son, Raymond J. Deyns of Fairport; two grandchildren, Jamie and Andrea; a brother, Henry Bruchez; and the children of William Cross, Brian and Donna Cross.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998 at Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville with the Rev. Dr. George Carpenter officiating.

Burial will be in Pinelawn Cemetery, Pinelawn.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Hynes Funeral Home. There will also be calling hours at the Schmitt Funeral Home at Seaford on Thursday, followed by a funeral service Friday morning.

Arrangements are by Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Brunhilde I. Klinger
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Brunhilde I. Klinger, 88, of State College, Pa. and formerly of Oneonta, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998 at Centre Community Hospital, State College, Pa.

She was born March 6, 1909 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Herman and Sigrid Larsen Wolf. She married Wallace Richard Klinger Jan. 26, 1929 in State College, Pa.

Mrs. Klinger graduated from Manual Training High School in Brooklyn and attended Gettysburg College with interest in dramatics. She was a member of Gamma Phi Sorority.

She was a homemaker and held memberships in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills, Church Council and Sunday School teacher at Atonement Lutheran Church in Oneonta, League of Women Voters, former president of the Garden Club, a member of Fox Hospital Auxiliary, a member of Order of the Eastern Star, former president of Hartwick College Women's Club, all of Oneonta. She started the Brunhilde I. Klinger Endowment Fund in support of Hartwick College Women's Athletics.

Survivors include her daughters, Christine Paul of Mount Holly Springs, Pa. and Sigrid Bensen of Binghamton; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills, Pa. with the Rev. Robert L. Rohrbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brunhilde I. Klinger Endowment Fund, Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton St., State College, Pa. 16801.

Ivah Mae Mostar
EAST WORCESTER — Ivah Mae Mostar, 89, of East Worcester, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998 at Bassett Healthcare Hospital in Cooperstown.

She was born June 3, 1908 in Summit, the daughter of Girdon and Edna (Hellijas) Becker. She was married to Floyd D. Conroe in June of 1927. He died Aug. 29, 1964. She then married Frank Mostar in August of 1965; he died May 16, 1968.

Mrs. Mostar was a lifelong area resident. She worked for the Glove Shops in Richmondville and Schenevus for many years. She was a member of the East Worcester United Methodist Church and a former member of the East Worcester Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and making gifts for her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, F. Maynard and Lucille Conroe of East Worcester and Willard and Carol Conroe of Hop Bottom, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Walter Brown of Greenville, S.C.; 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Otis, and a brother, Claude Becker.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Joyce Allen, pastor of the East Worcester United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Maple View Cemetery, North Road, East Worcester, at a later date.

Contributions may be made in loving memory of Mrs. Mostar to the East Worcester First Responders, P.O. Box 781, East Worcester, N.Y. 12064 or the Worcester Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 191, Worcester, N.Y. 12197.

Funeral arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Sharon Schriver
FRANKLIN — Sharon Schriver, 48, of Otego Road, Franklin, died Jan. 1, 1998 at her home.

She was born May 4, 1949 in Deposit to Donald and Phyllis Beers Schriver. She was employed by Searplex Corporation in Oneonta, and for 24 years at Woolworth Corporation, also in Oneonta.

Survivors include her mother, Phyllis Schriver of Franklin; her grandmother, Geraldine Beers of Walton; one brother, Gary Schriver of Hawley, Pa.; three sisters, Bonnie Gregory of Walton, Linda Menke of Delhi and Debra Fauci of Port Ewen; six nieces, Sue Gregory of Utica, Stacy Schriver of Franklin, Amy Schriver of Kingston, Wendy Merican of Fort Benning, Ga., Sarah Schriver of Downsville and Mary Crandall of Walton; six nephews, Brian Gregory of Walton, Larry Keesler of Kingston, Eric Schriver of Hawley, Pa., Andrew Schriver of Hawley, Pa., Jamie Bryden of Delhi and Larry William Keesler of Port Ewen; also several aunts and uncles.

Graveside services at the Walton Cemetery will take place in the spring.

Contributions may be made in Sharon Schriver's memory to the Franklin Emergency Squad, Franklin, N.Y. 13775 or Northern Lights c/o Gary Steele, Downsville, N.Y.

Gertrude May Wesley
ONEONTA — Gertrude M. Wesley, 94, a resident of the Fox Nursing Home, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998. She is lovingly remembered for her love for the Lord Jesus, her concern for others, and her many prayers for their needs.

She was born March 6, 1903 in Burlington, N.J., the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Gilbert) Bennett. She married Robert Wesley on Dec. 25, 1925 in Burlington, N.J. He predeceased her on Jan. 15, 1962.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Robert and Emma Wesley of Sidney; grandchildren, Rev. David and Susan Friedkin of St. Clair, Mich., Rev. Robert and Margaret Wesley of Orry-La-Ville, France and Rev. Del and Barbara Gibbons of LaSalle, Canada; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Becky and Rachel Friedkin, Matthew and Timothy Wesley, Esther, Philip and Mark Gibbons. Also surviving are several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998 at the First Baptist Church of Otego, with her son, the Rev. Robert Wesley, officiating, and with the Rev. Allan Hatch, of Otego, the Rev. Ray Nilsson of Woodhaven and the Rev. Arthur George of Memphis all assisting.

Burial will be in the spring at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Wells Bridge.

Friends are invited to call before the service from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Otego.

Donations may be made to the Wesley family to give to their missionary children serving in France and Canada.

Arrangements are by the C.H. Landers Chapel, Main Street, Sidney.

Jeanne Elizabeth Thompson Wyckoff
OAKBORO, N.C. — Mrs. Jeanne Elizabeth Thompson Wyckoff, 63, of 201 Rocky River Rd., Oakboro, N.C., Stanly County, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.

She was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Morris, the daughter of the late Walter Jay and Gertrude Brooker Thompson. She was a graduate of Morris Central School.

Jeanne was a homemaker, a prosthesis specialist, worked on the New York Board of Elections and also sold real estate. She volunteered for five years at Annaiston Hospital in Alabama.

Bob and Jeanne were married Dec. 30, 1954. She was a wonderful wife and a loving mother.

She is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Wyckoff of Oakboro, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Nolan of Carthage and Mrs. Cheryl Ann Whitmore of Waxhaw, N.C.; one brother, Richard Thompson of Milford; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Brownell in Winterhaven, Fla.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Irene Leonard of Unadilla; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998 at the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Midland, N.C. with the Dr. Paul Morrell officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Stanly County E.M.S. Attention Aaron Deese, 201 South Second St., Albemarle, N.C. 28001.

Arrangements are by A. Hartsell of Midland Service.

Harold John Hait
JEFFERSON — Harold John Hait, 70, of Jefferson, died Jan. 3, 1998 at his home. Mr. Hait was born Feb. 4, 1927 on Roses Brook in Hobart, the son of John E. and Florence (Atwater) Hait. He married Margie Miller on Sept. 29, 1951 in Stamford.
He graduated from South Kortright Central School in 1945 and received a degree in Agriculture from Cornell University in 1948. Harold and Margie moved to Jefferson in 1953 and owned and operated Har-Mar-Lyn Farm, receiving numerous awards for high herd production. He was an artificial breeder for NYABC Eastern A.I. for 34½ years.

He was a former clerk to the Board of Education and served as a member of the Jefferson Central School board for over 10 years, former BOCES board member at the time of the planning and construction of the Northern Catskills Occupational Center in Grand Gorge. He was the committee treasurer for the Jefferson Boy Scout Troop for 32 years. He was an active member of Gideons International and currently president of the Schoharie County Gideon Camp.

He was a member of the Jefferson Senior Citizens, and elected assessor for the town of Jefferson, past chairman and member of the Property Tax Grievance Board. Harold was very active in the formation of the Jefferson Baptist Church. He was a trustee of the West Jefferson Cemetery.

He served as an officer of many farm organizations. He loved bird watching and making maple syrup with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Terry Hait of Jefferson, Russell and Peggy Hait of Jefferson and Norman and Diane Hait of West Oneonta; beloved grandfather to 11 grandchildren, Tammy Hait of Jefferson, Tabitha (Hait) and Carl Mummenthey of Oneonta, Michael, Matthew and Meghan Hait of Jefferson, Melissa (Hait) and Dan Thompson of Virginia Beach, Sarah and Brian Hait of Jefferson, Colleen, Amy and Kevin Hait of West Oneonta; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Martin and Vera Hait of Hobart and Herbert and Mary Hait of Hobart; one sister, Frances Darrah of Milford; mother-in-law, Emor VanDusen of Jefferson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Katherine Hait of Hobart, Florence Jordan of Oneonta, Thayer and Joan Miller of Kerhonkson, John and Alice Miller of Bainbridge, Patty (Miller) and Rodney Klafehn of Laurens; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was predeceased by a son, Warren Thomas Hait in 1980 and by four brothers, Kenneth, Leslie, Clayton and Donald Hait.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998 at 11 a.m. from the Jefferson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Gockel and Rev. Waylen Bray officiating. Calling hours are today from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. The family will be in attendance in the evening at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. Burial will take place in the spring in the West Jefferson Cemetery, West Jefferson.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Gideons International Schoharie County Camp, P.O. Box 103, Sloansville, N.Y. 12160.

Arrangements are by the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Andrew Peterson Sr.
BAINBRIDGE — Andrew Peterson Sr., 85, of 15 Frieot Ave., Bainbridge, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998 in Cape Coral, Fla.

He was born Sept. 18, 1912 in Chadds Ford, Pa., the son of the late Andrew and Marie (Sode) Peterson. He married Helen Winslow on Aug. 18, 1940.

Mr. Peterson was a graduate of Tredyfrin Eastown High School, Berwyn, Pa. and Hartwick College, Oneonta, in 1938 with a B.S. degree in Math and Science. He was employed at E.C.D. of Bendix, Sidney for 37 years and for the last 25 years was chief tool engineer. He retired in 1977.

He was a member of the Bendix Management Club; a Scouter since 1952; served as Assistant Scout Master; Scout Master; Neighborhood Commissioner; and on the Executive Board. He was a holder of the Silver Beaver Award, and had both sons earn Eagle Scouts. He was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church, Bainbridge; Susquehanna Lodge 167 F & AM; Bainbridge Rotary Club; served on the Bainbridge Village Board for 17 years, trustee for nine years and mayor for eight years, from 1972-1980.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Helen Peterson of Bainbridge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Mary Alice Peterson of Sidney and Gary and Chi Peterson of Endicott; three granddaughters, Audra Peterson of Sidney, Erica Peterson of Sidney and Barbara Peterson of Endicott; one sister, Esther Yake of Paoli, Pa. Also surviving are nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Emil and Edwin Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998 at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Bainbridge with the Rev. Thomas E.C. Margrave officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.

Friends are invited to call Thursday, with the family in attendance from 7-9 p.m. and a Masonic service at 8 p.m., all at the C.H. Landers Chapel, Main Street, Sidney.

Memorial gifts in his name may be made to the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bainbridge.

Arrangements are by the C.H. Landers Chapel, Main Street, Sidney.

Eleanor L. Fuller
MEDIA, Pa. — Eleanor L. Fuller, retired nurse, 83, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998 in Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, Pa.

For almost 20 years, she saw a generation of Broomall, Pa. children grow up as a "fixture" in the office of a popular, local pediatrician. Many former patients remained friends to this day.

Raised in New Haven, Conn., she graduated from nursing school in Brooklyn, married Donald E. Fuller and moved to Warrington, Pa., where her son was born. She eventually relocated to Broomall in 1951 and resuming active nursing in 1957.

She lived in the same house for 43 years and was active in many local organizations. Finally retiring in 1978 and moving to the Riddle Village Retirement Community in Media, Pa. in 1993.

She was a board member at The Presbyterial Home, Philadelphia, Pa. for 19 years, B.P.W., church Women's Association, P.T.A., Little League, Marple Emergency Squad, Rotary Auxiliary. She also was a member of Marlple Presbyterian Church in Broomall for 25 years and served as an elder for six years. She was a former member of Northminister Presbyterian Church in Drexel Hill, Pa. for 25 years.

Survivors include one son, Donald L. Fuller of West Chester, Pa., three grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Donald E. Fuller, on Nov. 2, 1994.

A memorial service will be held Jan. 7, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Marple Presbyterian Church, Sproul and Marple roads, in Broomall, Pa.

Memorial gifts may be sent in her name to the Marple Presbyterian Church, Broomall, Pa. 19008 or the American Cancer Society, 600 N. Jackson St., Media, Pa. 19063.

Arrangement are by the Frank C. Videon Funeral Home, Sproul and Lawrence roads, Broomall, Pa. 19008.

John J. DeLaura Sr.
GRAND GORGE — John J. DeLaura Sr., 61, a former Mount Kisco resident, died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 at his home in Grand Gorge.

He was born July 15, 1936 in Mount Kisco to Ernest and Bernadette DeLaura. Mr. DeLaura was raised there and attended Mount Kisco schools.

He served in the Marines from 1954-1956.

Mr. DeLaura drove a truck for Grand Union Distribution Center in Mount Kisco for more than 25 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 456 in Elmsford. Mr. DeLaura then started a business as a truck driver.

He was loved by many and will be greatly missed, his family said.

He is survived by three sons, Ernest of Brooklyn, John Jr. of Katonah and Antonio of Bloomingburg; three sisters, Marion Garrido of Brooklyn, Jeanette Pousada and Beatrice Mackey, both of Bedford Hills; three grandchildren; longtime companion of 15 years, Vanessa L. Frano; also a father to Kelli, Kristin and Kyle Frano-Winnie of Grand Gorge. A brother, Frederick, and a sister, Elaine Wuttke, died earlier.

Funeral services and burial were held in Mount Kisco.
