Sophie M. De Lilli,

Mrs. Sophie M. De Lilli, 76, of Gloversville died Friday following a brief illness.

She was born in Amsterdam July 17, 1926, daughter of the late Michael D. and Palma Politano Fratangelo. She was educated in Amsterdam schools and graduated from Amsterdam High School. Early in her life, she attended photography school and was employed by the former Gold Tone Studio in Amsterdam. She also was a member of the former Holy Angels Choir of St. Michael's Church, Amsterdam. Mrs. De Lilli was employed as a library aide for the Gloversville school district for many years and a member of school PTA groups where she held various offices.

She also worked in the personnel office of the Cataract Care Center for some time. For several years, she owned and operated the former Tots N Toddlers retail children's store in Gloversville. Mrs. De Lilli was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church and formerly served as eucharistic minister. She was a member of the Johnstown Senior Citizens Thursday Painting group, and the Catholic War Vets Auxiliary Post 642, where she had served as secretary. Sophie sincerely loved people. All who knew her were made to feel at ease by her kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. Sophie truly loved her family and reveled in their company.
Friends and family were always welcome to the place Sophie liked best, her kitchen, where all her delicious cuisine was made with a special ingredient ... Love! She is survived by her husband, Pasquale "Pat" De Lilli of Gloversville; her sons, Michael N. De Lilli and his wife, Faye of Mayfield, Chas N. De Lilli and his wife, Sue of Gloversville, Robert A. De Lilli and his wife, Robin of Gloversville; brothers, Nicholas Fratangelo and Robert Fratangelo, both of Johnstown; grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Laurie, Joe, Lyne, Jackson, Marco and Gianna De Lilli; one uncle, James Riccio of Amsterdam; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Grace Bennice.

A prayer service will be held Monday 8:45 a.m. from Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker St., Gloversville, and at 9:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville, with Rev. Donald Czelusniak, pastor, as celebrant. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in the spring. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 23 Computer Drive, Albany, N.Y. 12205; or St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church Building Fund, 149 S. Main St., Gloversville. Members of the Catholic War Vets Post 642 and Auxiliary are requested to meet Sunday evening 4:30 p.m. for their ritual at the funeral home.

Philip Portolano

Philip Portolano, 83, of Gloversville, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Born April 7, 1919, in Johnstown, N.Y., he was the son of Albert and Lovina Wells Portolano. Mr. Portolano attended the Lexington Day Treatment Center of Gloversville and was a life long area resident.

He is survived by a sister, Elmira Blowers of Johnstown and a niece, Linda Hollenbeck of Johnstown.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at the Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Center.

Everett Coughnet

Mr. Everett Coughnet, 102, formerly of Johnstown, died Sunday, November 23, 2003 at Northwoods at Hilltop, Niskayuna, after a brief illness.

He was born in Johnstown, November 26, 1900, a son of the late Dewitt and Christine Coughnet.

Mr. Coughnet was a member of the Fremont Methodist Church, Gloversville.
He was employed at Twin City Leather until his retirement in 1965.

On November 26, 1925 he married Gladys Shire Coughnet and she died December 5, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Peterson of Rexford; two grandchildren, Joanne Banovic Gong and Robert Banovic; four step grandchildren, Stephen, David, Melissa and Amy; one great-grandson; and four step great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Burton, April 5, 1994.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda with Rev. Wayne Jones officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.

Adelaide May Hawkins

Adelaide May Hawkins, age 86, of Caroga Lake, NY, died Monday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. Born May 1, 1917 in Flushing, NY, she was the daughter of James and Emma Schmutzer Hawkins. She was a graduate of Flushing, NY schools and lived in Flushing until 1960 when she moved to Sound Beach, NY, where she resided until moving to Caroga Lake five years ago.

Ms. Hawkins was employed as a statistical interpreter by the Lilly Tulip Paper Co. of L.I. for over 40 years until retiring.

She is survived by two nieces, Emma Louis Lalor of Caroga Lake, NY and Dorothy Ann Vollmer of Hewlitt, L.I.; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews and 21 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Emma Tambrino.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne E. Jones Jr. officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home.

Anne L. Knapp

Anne L. Knapp, 83, of Fox St., Gloversville, died Monday, Nov. 24, at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.

Born Feb. 1, 1920 in New York City, the daughter of John and Marie Fusic Liguori. She graduated from Farmingdale H.S., then moved to Miramae from 1973 to 1987. She also spent her summers for 40 years on Canada Lake. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church and past chairman of District 10 American Legion in Nassau and Suffolk counties, a member of the American Legion Post 1066 of Massapequa, L.I. NY; and the Ida McGinnis Senior Center, Gloversville.
She was married to the late Egbert Knapp on 2-13-44; he died 6-1-87.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Knapp of Gloversville and Judy Tannenbaum of Snellville, GA; a son, Bill Knapp and wife Anita of Caroga Lake; grandchildren, Scott Tannenbaum and wife Jayne, Lori Burke and husband Greg, Jamie Jones and husband Scott, David Knapp and wife Mary and Jennifer Knapp; great grandchildren, Morgan Tannenbaum, Lacie Tannenbaum, Bradie Jones, Max Tannenbaum, Annsley Jones, Kylie Burke, Makhenzie Burke; step great grandchildren, William Roy, Dylan Roy and Hunter Roy; a brother, Joseph Liguori; and a sister, Carmella Ramputi; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A prayer service will be on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home followed at 10:00 a.m. by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville with Rev. Donald Czelusniak, pastor of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Schenectady. Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Helen Burke Tighe

Helen Burke Tighe, 94, formerly of Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, died on Tuesday morning at Country Club Manor Nursing Home in Steubenville, Ohio.

Born in Johnstown, NY, on September 10, 1909, she was the daughter of John Burke and Sarah Sweeney Burke. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1926 and from the Cortland State College for Teachers in 1929.

She taught for one year at the Jackson Summit School in Fulton County, a one room county school where she was the only teacher for all eight grades. Following this, she taught for ten years at the former Perry Street School in Johnstown.
On August 10, 1940 she married Thomas Tighe Jr. of Amsterdam at St. Patrick's Church in Johnstown. Mr. Tighe was the postmaster of Amsterdam from 1944 until his death in 1967. Their son, Thomas III died in 1947.

Mrs. Tighe was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church and was a charter member of St. Mary's Seniors. She was also a former member of the SMI Social Club and a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She moved to Ohio in March 2000 to live with her daughter, Joan McKeegan and then to the nursing home at the end of last year.

Besides Mrs. McKeegan, she is survived by another daughter, Mary Pannuti of Scottsdale, Arizona and by her son John Tighe of East Greenbush, NY. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; one niece and many cousins. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Harold, James and John Burke.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 8:30 at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, followed at 9:15 by a Mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Mrs. Tighe's name to St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

James Anthony Perrella

James Anthony Perrella

Mr. Perrella, age 91, of Juno Beach, Florida and Gloversville, New York, passed away at The Waterford Health Care Center, Juno Beach on Tuesday morning, November 25, 2003. He was born, raised and resided in Gloversville virtually all of his lifetime. He spent his winters in Hallandale, FL for twenty years and wintered in Juno Beach for the past three years. Mr. Perrella was an avid golfer throughout his life and scored a hole-in-one on three separate occasions. As a young man, he won a championship at Kingsborough Golf Club where he was a member. Mr. Perrella was also a member of Hollywood Golf Club while wintering in Hallandale. He was a lifelong communicant at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville.

Mr. Perrella is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Irene Perrella; three children, James E. (and wife Diane) Perrella of Jupiter, FL, Ann (and husband Art) Ambrosino of Gloversville, NY, John (and wife Becky) Perrella of The Woodlands, Texas; six grandchildren, Yvette Sekel, Renee Zumbolo, David Ambrosino, Joy Lathan, Joshua Perrella, Elizabeth Perrella; five great-grandchildren, Dillon, Garrett, Graham, Alexandra and Trevor; and one dear sister, Antoinette Buanno of Gloversville, NY.
A memorial service celebrating the life of James Anthony Perrella will be held at The Waterford (in the card room), 601 Universe Boulevard, Juno Beach on Friday morning, November 28, at 11 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Perrella can be made either to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or to the Gloversville Free Library, 58 East Fulton Street, Gloversville, New York 12078.

Ethel L. Wojnar

Mrs. Ethel L. Wojnar, 92, formerly of Fort Plain, died late Tuesday evening at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home where she had been a resident.

Born on July 6, 1911 in Benson, NY, she was the daughter of Howard and Edna Eglin Smith. She attended local schools.

She was employed as a glove maker for various companies in Johnstown and Gloversville and worked as a waitress throughout the local area. She was married in 1926 to her first husband, Herman Laverdure. She later married Theodore Wojnar in 1956. They lived between Hollywood, FL, in the winter and Nashua, NH, in the summer she worked in both cities as a waitress at various restaurants. In 1976 she moved to Fort Plain after the death of her husband Theodore.
Mrs. Wojnar was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church Ft. Plain.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Elizabeth Fraser of Schenectady, Shirley Lofstrom, and Mary Henza both of Fort Plain; She was the oldest of 11 children and is survived by one brother, John Smith of Keck Center, NY; 2 sisters, Esther Sardella of Gloversville, and Sylvia Millett of St. Petersburg, FL; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Mrs. Wojnar was pre-deceased by a son, Richard Laverdure and 7 brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 am at the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Reid St., Fort. Plain with Rev. Kenneth Swain officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Plain cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 3 until 6 pm at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Ostego St., Canajoharie. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. James Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund PO Box 287, Fort Plain, NY 13339.

Sharon Van Hoesen

Sharon Van Hoesen, age 56, of Johnstown, died Thursday at her home. Born April 12, 1947 in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of Howard and Arlene Dingman Young. She attended Gloversville schools and was a life long area resident.

Mrs. Van Hoesen was employed by MCA Records of Gloversville for seven years and later was employed by Johnstown Knit for over 20 years.

On October 21, 1967 she married Kenneth Van Hoesen Sr. He survives. She is also survived by three sons, Kenneth and his wife Dawn Van Hoesen of Colorado Springs, CO, Kevin and his wife Kristie Van Hoesen of Amsterdam and Christopher and his wife Patricia of Johnstown; two daughters, Belinda Van Hoesen and Tina and her husband Brian Schoonmaker, both of Johnstown; five brothers, Howard, Steven, Eugene and Frank Young, all of Gloversville and Ray Young of Mayfield; four sisters, Cora Moore of Johnstown, Nancy Bates of Gloversville, Mary Lee Hillman of Gloversville and Rose Baumas of Alaska; nine grandchildren.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice. Arrangements are by Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.

Marilyn B. Vickery Becker

Mrs. Marilyn B. Vickery Becker, 75, of Red Schoolhouse Road, Johnstown, died Thursday morning, Nov. 28, 2002 at Albany Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 28, 1927 in Gloversville, the daughter of Albert and Lottie Handy Vickery. She was employed as a certified home health aide for several years at Inter-County Home Care.

Mrs. Becker is survived by two sons, Richard A. Stack and Jon M. Stack of Broadalbin; a sister, Ashley Christman of Gloversville; a brother, Douglas Vickery of Raymond Ill.; three grandchildren, Daniel Stack, Jason Stack and Christina Rowe; four great-grandchildren, Jenna Rowe, Brianna Hoover, Kannan Stack and Kieran Hooper. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles N. Becker, who died Sept. 21, 1985; and by two sisters, Viola Foland and Leona Waring.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday.

Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, N.Y. 12078.

Lucinda R. Cole

Lucinda R. Cole, 48, of Gloversville, died Wednesday at her home. She was born Sept. 5, 1954 in Gloversville. She attended Gloversville schools and was a life long area resident.

Mrs. Cole worked at the Dexter Boarding Home for eight years and various other factories in the area, later working for the Gloversville School District for 10¢ years as a food service cashier until becoming disabled.

Mrs. Cole was predeceased by her mother, Rose Passino Cromer; a step-father, Harvey Cromer Sr.; and a brother, Ronald Brown.
She is survived by a son, Glenn Cole Jr. and his companion Lindsay Aldous of Gloversville; a stepson, Dorian Angus of Johnstown; a daughter, Melissa R. Cole and her companion Michael Groves Sr. of Gloversville; two brothers, Mark and his wife Shirley Brown of Buffalo and Harvey Cromer Jr. of Johnstown; two sisters, Melinda Kelly and Sharon Ball of Gloversville; grandchildren, Michael, Austin and Cody Groves and Nicholas Cole; several cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Eva Solomon

Eva Solomon, 97, of Johnstown, died Thursday at the Wells House.

Born Sept. 20, 1905 in New York City, she was the daughter of Anselm and Helena Kaidan Grossman. She was a graduate of George Washington High School in New York City, where she was a bookkeeper for several years. She was a member of Knesseth Israel Synagogue, Hadassah and the Nathan Littauer Hospital Aux.

On Dec. 29, 1928 she married Nathan A. Solomon. He predeceased her on May 22, 1989. On Aug. 11, 1964 she was predeceased by her son, Morrow D. Solomon, M.D. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Anna Seld and twin sister, Rose Rosenberg.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Dr. Dagmar Solomon of Fuerth, Germany; close friends, Edith Furman of Gloversville and Jeanne Glasser of Lake Worth, Fla.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be held on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Knesseth Israel Synagogue, 34 E. Fulton St., Gloversville with the Rabbi Martin Gordon officiating. Interment will take place at the Knesseth Israel Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Knesseth Israel Synagogue.

Ruth Fisher

Ruth Fisher, age 85, of Gloversville, died Thursday at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica, NY. Born March 17, 1918 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Franklin and Ella Longfritz Foster. Mrs. Fisher was a graduate of Gloversville High School Class of 1936 and a life long area resident.

She was employed as a secretary for the McNab Elementary School of Gloversville for over 20 years. Mrs. Fisher also attended the St. James Lutheran Church of Gloversville.

Mrs. Fisher was predeceased by her first husband, Anthony Sefcovic. On December 6, 1947, she married Anthony C. Fisher. He predeceased her on Feb. 25, 1989.
Mrs. Fisher is survived by 2 daughters, Constance F. and her husband, John D. Roberts of Clinton, NY and Deborah A. Fisher of Gloversville; 2 grandchildren, Christina Roberts and Anthony Roberts and his fiancee, Malee Khow; 2 nieces and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions can be made to the James A. Brennan Humane Society or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home.

Donna B. Millard

Donna B. Millard, age 62, of Johnstown, died Thursday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken at her home. Born June 11, 1941 in Morristown, NJ, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Antoinette Kuite Burggraaff. She graduated from Clifford Scott High School Class of 1959 of East Orange, NJ, where she received numerous athletic awards. She attended Hope College of Holland, Michigan and later attended the Concordia Junior College of Westchester County, NY.

She moved to Fonda, NY in July 1964 and later moved to Johnstown in 1976 where she has resided since.

Mrs. Millard was employed by the East Orange Public Library, the Home Insurance Company of East Orange, the New Brunswick Public Library and later the Johnstown Public Library. Three years ago, she retired from the Albany, Schenectady, Schoharie B.O.C.E.S. She also tutored in the Johnstown School System for many years.
She was a member of the Johnstown Reformed Church and it's choir and the church Woman's Group, editor of the "Bell Ringer", she gave the junior sermon at the church many times. She was a member of the B.O.C.E.S. Retirement Group.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Jack H. Millard, whom she married on June 23, 1962. She is also survived by one son, Alan C. and his wife, Patti Millard of Mayfield; her Father, Dr. Nicholas J. Burggraaff of Bloomington, Minn; one brother, Wayne and his wife, Linda Burggraaff of Bloomington, Minn; 3 grandchildren, Nicole, Andrew and Nicholas Millard; several niece, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. from the Johnstown Reformed Church, 351 North Perry St., Johnstown. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Plainfield, NJ. Memorial contributions can be made the Johnstown Reformed Church or J.A.V.A.C. Arrangements are by the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown.

Gladys Whitbeck

Mrs. Gladys Whitbeck, 76, of Ephratah, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.

She was born in Stratford, October 21, 1914, a daughter of the late George H. and Violet Brown Lyons.

Mrs. Whitbeck lived in the St. Johnsville area most of her life.
She was employed at the Palatine Dye Co. for many years she also worked for several area glove shops. For 8 years she worked on the election board for the Town of Ephratah.

On May 5, 1941 she married Earl Whitbeck and he died January 10, 1997.

Survivors include two sisters Lucille Fox of Ft. Plain, Clara Brown of St. Johnsville, one brother Wilfred Lyons of Ft. Plain, four grandchildren John, Mike and Ray Heroth of Ft. Plain, and Jean Perue of Ft. Plain, six great grandchildren, four great- great grandchildren, nieces; nephews and cousins and a good friend Ronald Cool.

She was predeceased by a son William; daughter Marilyn; four brothers Joseph, Moses, Harry, and George, a sister Carrie Mae Smith.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation was Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.

William Sweet

Mr. William Sweet, age 49, died Sunday morning, November 28, 2004 at his Gloversville home with his family at his bedside. His death followed a battle with cancer that lasted for several months.

He was born December 6, 1954 in Gloversville, the son of Richard and Bettie Morrison Sweet. A lifelong Gloversville resident, he was employed by Taylor Made Products as a supervisor until the onset of his illness.

Survivors include three children, Jason W. Sweet, William E. Sweet and Kayla Sweet, his mother, Bettie Sweet, a brother, Richard Sweet, all of Gloversville; three sisters, Dawn Williams of Gloversville, Jodie Sweet of Broadalbin and Lisa Gardner of W. Virginia; a grandson, Frank Sweet; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private service will take place at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Arrangements are by Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.

Edward R. Ferguson

Edward R. Ferguson, 85, of Sixth Ave; Gloversville, was stricken at home Friday morning, November 29, 2002.

He was born March 13, 1917 in Gloversville, the son of Raymond and Ruth Snyder Ferguson. He served in the Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946 in Japan and the Phillipine Islands. He worked at several leather finishing mills in Fulton County, and was a self-employed painting contractor for many years.

Mr. Ferguson was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Gloversville. He was very active in several local veteran's organizations, including the Fulton County DAV Chapter #122, American Legion Post #137, and V.F.W. Post #2077. He had served as Chaplain of all three organizations. He served his fellow veterans for many years as a member of the local VFW and American Legion Firing Squad.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nina R. VanVranken Ferguson; also by three daughters, Shirley Kratky of Gloversville, Emogene Coons of Haye, VA; and Donna Chizek of Johnstown; two sisters, Nellie Greenfield and Virginia Follett, both of Gloversville; a brother, Robert Crouse of Gloversville; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, INc; 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday with the Rev. Terry Mosholder officiating. Interment will take place in the springtime at King-Northampton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 16 W. Fulton St; or V.F.W. Post #2077, 20 Third Ave; or the Ambulance Service of Fulton County, 8 Frontage Rd; Gloversville, NY 12078.

Maria Elizabeth Lovering

Maria Elizabeth Lovering, 32, of Autumn Lane, Queensbury, entered the Kingdom of God on Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, after a courageous fight with breast cancer.

She was born on March 21, 1970, in Rome, N.Y., she was the daughter of Thomas Durkee and Joan Spencer.

Maria was a loving and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed traveling, decorating, and spending time with her family.
She graduated from and met her husband at Castleton State College, Vt. and earned a Bachelors degree in communication.

She was employed by the Southern Adirondack Child Care Network and enjoyed her work in assisting parents with their child care needs.

She is survived by her husband, Steven and two children, Emily and Evan; her parents, Thomas Durkee and Joan Spencer; brother Michael Durkee of Queensbury; grandfather, John Dattoli of Gloversville; and many more family members and friends.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maria's Hope, c/o Evergreen Bank, Quaker Road, Queensbury, NY 12804.
