Emileo 'Fonzie' Lorenzoni

Mr. Emileo "Fonzie" Lorenzoni, age 83, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Valley Health Services in Herkimer.

He was born on November 29, 1920 in Little Falls, son of the late Nello and Cesira (Fenni) Lorenzoni, and received his education in Little Falls schools. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having enlisted on Aug. 10, 1942. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1946, and upon relief from active duty, was the recipient of an American Theater Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. "Fonzie" joined in marriage with Amelia L. "Emily" Grande on November 6, 1948 at St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer, with Rev. Gustav Purificato officiating. The couple had shared in a blessed union of over 45 years until the passing of Emily on July 19, 1994.
"Fonzie" had worked with numerous area construction companies, as he was a carpenter by trade. He had last worked full time with RIMM Construction in Herkimer. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish, along with the Carpenter's Local Union. He was also involved with the former St. Joseph's Men's Club and was a member of the DeCarlo Staffo Post No. 8, Little Falls.

He is survived by his beloved family, including his son, James Lorenzoni, captain with the Gloversville Police Department, and his wife, Lisa, of Little Falls; a daughter, Karen McGrail and her husband, Thomas, of Herkimer; two granddaughters, Maria and Emily Lorenzoni; a sister, Valerie Tooley of Little Falls; two brothers, John Lorenzoni and Rudy Lorenzoni, both of Little Falls; several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, Mary (Grande) Cumm of Herkimer, Claudine Grande of Herkimer and Italo Grande and wife, Caroline, of Little Falls.

He was predeceased by his three brothers, Albert and Joseph Lorenzoni and Frederick Lawrence; and two sisters, Jane Hayner and Angie Lorenzoni.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main and John streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Monday (tonight) from 5-8 p.m.

Those wishing may consider donations in his memory to either the Holy Family Parish or to the Valley Health Services Development Fund.

The family extends its gratitude to the Valley Health Services and to the Country Manor of Herkimer for the professional care and compassion offered.

Jonathan Witherspoon Winn

Jonathan Witherspoon Winn, son of Mrs. Marcia H.R. Winn and the late Rev. George H. Winn III of Johnstown, NY, passed away on July 18, 2002 at age 49, in Norwalk, CT. The cause of death was brain cancer with which he struggled bravely for 18 months. Jonathan was born in New York City, graduated from Ellenville High School, Ellenville, NY and from Boston University with a bachelor's degree concentrating in business management and liberal arts, mainly music theory and composition. He worked for 25 years for Crate & Barrel, the home furnishings retailer, working in Boston, MA and Princeton, NJ, rising to manager of distribution at the corporate headquarters in Northbrook, IL. He recently moved to Norwalk, CT to be nearer to his many friends and family.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Macia H.R. Winn; his 3 brothers, David R. of Westport, CT, Daniel H. and Peter H., both of Johnstown, NY; his niece and nephew, Allison and Jeremy Spiro-Winn of Westport, CT; his aunts and uncles, Adah-Grace Roberts Vollmer of Doylestown, PA, David S. Roberts of Cheshire, CT, Florence G. and Thomas C. Winn, and Julia W. and Chilton C. McPheeters, both of Willsboro, NY and Anne L. Winn of Harrisonburg, VA. His grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. David S. Roberts of Westfield, NJ and the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. George H. Winn II of the Presbyterian Mission in Korea.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 25, at 11 o'clock at the First Presbyterian Church, S. Market Street, in Johnstown, NY with the Rev. Dr. Earl Johnson officiating. His remains have been donated to science through Yale Medical School and his ashes will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY at a later date.

Adam Michael Hine

Adam Michael Hine, 28, of Hickory Road, Fonda, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Albany Medical Center.

Adam was born on August 3, 1975, in Hudson, New York, the son of Orville Jay and Anne Paganelli Hine Jr. Adam graduated from Fonda-Fultonville Central School, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY at Albany and completed work for a Master of Arts degree from SUNY at Albany, majoring in Archaeology and Ancient Greek and Roman Studies.
Adam's life was spent with the challenges presented from being born with Cystic Fibrosis. He was able to accomplish much in his life thanks to the talent and care of the medical staff of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Clinic and the medical staff of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, both of Albany Medical Center. In October 2002, thanks to an anonymous generous gift of organ donation, Adam was the recipient of a bilateral lung transplant at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital. His health was maintained by the skill and caring members of the transplant team.

Adam is survived by his parents, Orville Jay and Anne Hine Jr.; his brother Matthew Hine and his wife, Jeanine Sullivan; his aunt Eileen Oswald and her husband, George; his aunt Janet Widell and her husband, Robert; and his aunt Cheryl Hine and her husband, Robert Snedeker. He is survived by his cousins, Stephanie Oswald, Mark Oswald, Karen Fromhold and Robert Widell Jr. He is also survived by his step grandmother, Gladys Hine.

Adam was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Charlotte Paganelli, Orville Jay Hine Sr., Jeanette M. Hine, and his uncles, Robert Paganelli and Franklin Hine.

Adam was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church and was serving as one of the advisors of the Youth Fellowship. Adam's life was characterized by a love of learning and helping others to learn through an example of patient endurance in the face of life challenges. Adam learned early in his life that every day is a gift. For those who haven't learned this yet, it is the lesson he would like to teach you. He loved his Jeep, good science fiction and writing. Most of all, he loved his family and friends.

The Celebration of a Christian Life will be held Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Fonda Reformed Church, Broadway, Fonda, New York. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville, New York.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a donation toward direct patient services and transplant evaluations may do so to the Donna Crandall Foundations, 50 Traditional Lane, Loudonville, New York 12211. Those who wish to make a donation toward medical research may do so to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 12 Avis Drive, Latham, New York, 12110.

Maureen "Mo" Hopkins

Maureen "Mo" Hopkins, 63, of South Shore Road, Edinburg, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at home following a long illness. She was born on September 10, 1940, in Burlington, VT, the daughter of the late Richard C. and Dora E. Breiner Rayta.

She attended Cathedral High School in Burlington and was lastly employed as a bus driver for Edinburg and then Gloversville school districts.
Mo loved baking and cooking, and she especially loved animals.

Survivors include three sons; Gordon Stowell of Syracuse, New York, Steven Stowell of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and Charles Harper of Northfield, Vermont; one daughter, Nancy Thomas of Milton, Vermont.; two brothers, Richard Rayta of Canton, Georgia, and Donald Rayta of Watersville, Vermont; and one sister, Cathy Cross of St. Albans, Vermont. Many grandchildren also survived her.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 21, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. A service will also be held in Burlington, Vermont, with burial to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or the Edinburg Ambulance Corps.

Richard P. "Rick" Rubinstein

Richard P. "Rick" Rubinstein, 60, of Caroga Lake, died July 15, as a result of an automobile accident. Born in Gloversville July 25, 1943, he was the son of Sylvia Kennedy Rubinstein and the late Aaron Rubinstein. Upon graduation from Gloversville High School in 1961, he attended Paul Smith's College, receiving a degree in forestry management. He continued his education at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he received a BS degree in finance. Early in his life, Rick worked as a sales representative for a bicycle business in Oakland, CA for several years, returning to Gloversville in the 1980s. He was a substitute teacher for special education in Fulton County schools and also worked as a private security officer locally for an Albany firm. In keeping with his passion for bicycles and motorcycles, he and cousin Bob Galinsky owned and operated R&G Bicycles and Sports business in downtown Gloversville for several years. He was also an owner of Rocky's Tavern for a short time until 1990. Rick had vast knowledge on a variety of subjects and enjoyed sharing thoughts and the interaction with people in general. He established many friendships throughout his life and was a well respected board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Chamber of Commerce, Planning Commission, Gloversville Merchants Association and the Promote Gloversville Development Corp. He had also volunteered for the restoration of the Glove Theatre and was a long time member of the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. An avid outdoorsman, Rick was equally comfortable riding his motorcycle or simply walking in the woods. He also never shied away from his feeling for the Democratic Party. For the past several years, he had been the code enforcement officer for the towns of Caroga Lake, Benson and Stratford, a position for which he was highly regarded as meticulous and professional. In addition to his mother of Gloversville, survivors include his wife, Paula J. Mroz of Caroga Lake; two daughters, Ashley Rubinstein and Toria Rubinstein, both of Caroga Lake; two sisters, Susan Zayicek of Eaton, Colorado and Jane Regan of Sarasota, Florida; nieces, nephew and cousin.

A memorial service will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at the North Main Street United Methodist Church with Reverend Douglas Lathrop and Rabbi Jonathon Rubinstein officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. The Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a fireman's funeral ritual at the service. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 536, Caroga Lake, NY 12032.

Davis W. Vokins, Jr.

Davis W. Vokins, Jr. 44, of 482 County Highway 151, St. Johnsville, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2004, at Little Falls Hospital.

He was born November 27, 1959 in Scotia, the son of Eleanor I (Jensen) Vokins and the late Davis W. Vokins, Sr. His marriage to Emma LaGrange was on March 5, 1983 at the Dolgeville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Vokins was owner & operator of the Vokins Farm in St. Johnsville. In his leisure time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted locally and in Wyoming and Colorado. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Ontario.

Davis was educated in Oppenheim schools and lived all his life in the Oppenheim area.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his mother; Eleanor Vokins of St. Johnsville, his wife of 21 years, Emma, 2 sons; Davis W. Vokins, III and Michael J. Vokins, both of St. Johnsville, 2 sisters; Sandra Mosenthin and husband, Ted, and their children Marisa & Matthew of Salisbury, Linda Desmond and husband, Allen, and their children Frank & wife Heather, Corey, Joelle and Danielle of Ilion, and a great nephew & great niece, Michael & Morgan Desmond.

He is also survived several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Cindy Vokins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 3 p.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 22, 2004, from 1 p.m. until the time of the services. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. All memorial contributions may be made to the Oppenheim Volunteer Fire Department (EMT) in care of Rick Voorhees. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Alan E. Barkevich

Mr. Alan E. Barkevich, 35, of Alexandria, Virginia, died unexpectedly on July 6, 2004, in Alexandria.

He was born November 24, 1968, in Rhinebeck, NY, the fourth child of John and Beverly Brown Barkevich. Alan grew up in Gloversville and Caroga Lake and was the valedictorian of the Gloversville High School class of 1987. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on an ROTC Scholarship, graduating in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in management and a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve, where he attained the rank of captain. Upon graduation, Alan pursued a career in financial management, eventually moving to the Washington DC area in 1997, where he was employed for the past five years by Web Methods as comptroller and managing consultant.
Alan loved boats, dogs and many outdoor activities. He was an avid reader and World War II history buff. He was a patriot. Most of all, he loved his family and spending special occasions with them. Besides his parents, Jack and Beverly of Caroga Lake, he is survived by two sisters, Susan Forte and her husband Dan of Kingston and Sally Cram and her husband Chris of Caroga Lake; and one brother, Bruce Barkevich and his wife Sheila of Clifton Park; a niece, Kelly; and nephew, Tommy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private family service was held at the Caroga Chapel in Caroga Lake on July 10, 2004, and a memorial service was held at the Falls Church Presbyterian Church in Falls Church, Virginia on July 13. Memorial contributions may be made in Alan's memory to the Alan E. Barkevich Foundation, checks payable to John Barkevich, P.O. Box 435, Caroga Lake, NY, 12032. Lucille R. 'Lucy' Barone

Lucille R. "Lucy" Barone, 98, of Gloversville, was called home to be with her Lord on July 19, 2004. She died at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home. She was born December 28, 1905 in Standish, N.Y., the daughter of Charles and Aurelia Blair. Lucy dealt in antiques and operated the "Barn" Auction house in Riceville for many years, along with her husband Arthur Barone. They were married November 9, 1931 and he predeceased her on December 25, 1987.

She was a member of the Believers Fellowship Center of Johnstown. Lucy is survived by two daughters, Rita Caruso and her husband Peter of Gloversville and Toni Russo and her husband Tom of Mayfield; three grandchildren, Theresa Fretto and her husband Mark, Lucy Sandner and her husband Dave and Tom Russo and his wife Linda; seven great grandchildren, Blair and Richie Sandner, Kendra Russo and Josh, Brien, Amanda and Mark Fretto; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Philip Carey of the Believers Fellowship Center officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Believers Fellowship Center, 150 S. Comrie Ave., Johnstown.

Rosalie Breault Eaton

Rosalie Breault Eaton, of Galway, New York, died at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a 49-year battle with diabetes.

Rosalie was born May 30, 1948 in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of Don and Faye Breault. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1970 with a bachelor of fine arts degree.
Rosalie was a 30 year member of the West Galway Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and taught Sunday School. She was a Cub Scout leader, a Boy Scout leader and served her community working to build the Community Playground and the Galway Library. Rosalie was a member of Mom's in Touch and the Women's Christian Association. Rosalie was active in Mohawk Valley Chorus and often was a soloist and sang at many weddings. In recent years, Rosalie earned recognition in the art world as she exhibited in Amsterdam, Canajoharie, Gloversville, Ballston Spa, Saratoga, Burnt Hills and Glens Falls. She was the featured artist at the 46th annual Fulton County Art Show. Rosalie illustrated a children's book series featuring Delbert Vole and authored and illustrated another book titled "A Big Bowl of Soup."

She was an inspiration to everyone who met her. She loved music; she loved art; she loved her family... she loved life. Rosalie saw beauty everywhere and the good in everyone. Throughout her struggle with diabetes, Rosalie remained positive. She was confident and exuberant in her relationship with God. Her strong faith saw her through many years of struggle.

Rosalie is survived by Robert Eaton, her husband of 36 years, co-owner of Bob's Trees; a son, Douglas Eaton and his wife Amber of Scotia; a son, Robert Eaton and his wife Mary of Albany; a daughter, Jennifer Eaton and her fianceŽe, Richie Ahnert of Johnstown; a daughter, Melissa Eaton of Galway. She is also survived by her parents, Don and Faye Brailed of Escanaba, Michigan; a sister, Donna Sharak and her husband Michael of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Steven Breault of Escanaba, Michigan; and many other relatives.

Relatives and friends may call at The Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Rte. 147, Galway Village, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 22. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of West Galway at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 23. Immediately following the service, all are welcome to a celebration of Rosalie's life at The Ski Lodge at Bob's Tree Farm, where Rosalie's art work will be exhibited.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of West Galway, Box 3022, Cty. Hwy. 107, Amsterdam, New York 12010 or to the Galway Lions Club, P.O. Box 244, Galway, NY 12074 in support of the Rosalie Eaton's Walk for Diabetes.

David Wesley Wheeler

David Wesley Wheeler, 55, of State Highway 5S, Randall, NY, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.

Born December 6, 1948 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of David William and Ruth L. Tallman Wheeler. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in Randall. David was employed for 16 years by Karg Brothers Leather Company in Gloversville and later worked for Price Chopper, retiring in 1990.
He was an entrepreneur, artist, writer and loved gardening.

David was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Johnstown, NY.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth L. Wheeler of Johnstown; a brother, Mark L. Wheeler of Randall; a sister, Jane Marie Hawkins and her husband Philip of Buel, NY; two nieces, Erika Lynn Hawkins and Rebecca Jo Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville with the Eldon Coultrup officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Avenue in Fultonville. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert A. Martin Jr.

Mr. Robert A. Martin Jr., 45, of N. Melcher St., Johnstown, died Sunday afternoon from injuries he received in an accident with his motorcycle and a car.

He was born March 30, 1958 in Milford, Connecticut.

Robert Martin Jr. may be best remembered as a champion of justice, serving Fulton County as both assistant district attorney and public defender throughout the 1980s.
Following graduation from the University at Albany's School of Criminal Justice and the State University of New York at Buffalo, Faculty of Law and Jurisprudence, Robert was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1984.

He was not only well respected in the legal community, but also in the educational field.

An accomplished author, editor, lecturer and professor, Martin shared his love of the criminal justice system through his teaching at Fulton Montgomery Community College for a decade.

Robert Martin Jr. was currently working toward completion of his doctoral dissertation and currently employed as an assistant editor for The Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics at the Hindelang Criminal Justice Research Center in Albany.

Survivors include his father, Robert A. Martin Sr. of Galway; grandmother, Rita R. Martin of Bridgewater, New Jersey; uncles, George E. Martin of Califon, New Jersey and Richard W. Parker of Highlands, New Jersey; aunts, Sharon Hemmer of Bedminster, New Jersey and Ruth M. Martin of New Port Richey, Florida; and cousins.

Robert was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Ann Were Martin in May 1999.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.

Edward Mezza

Mr. Edward Mezza, age 82, of Montgomery St., Gloversville, died Monday morning, July 21, 2003 at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, NY.

He was born December 14, 1920 in Gloversville, the son of Clemente and Josephine Mangina Mezza. He was locally known many years ago as a boxing exhibitionist and later served as a paratrooper in the Army Special Services during World War II. He was employed for many years by the Safeway Food stores, working as district manager in the New York City area, and later in the states of California and Washington. Mr. Mezza was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville and its Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Cozzolino Valiante Mezza, whom he married on January 17, 1988; three stepdaughters, Anella V. Aguilera of Gloversville, Antoinette M. Condello of Rocky Face, GA, and Louisa Thomson of New Mexico; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Julie Mezza; also by his brother, Armand "Red" Mezza; and three sisters, Helen Mezza, Mollie Gargiulo and Emily Clute.

A con-celebrated memorial Mass will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville with the Rev. Justin J. Capato and the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Richard A. 'Ozzie' Osborn

Mr. Richard A. "Ozzie" Osborn, 68, of Highland Terrace, Fort Plain, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Ozzie treasured every day this last year and did it with much courage and sense of humor.

He was born in Fort Plain, NY on November 29, 1934, the son of Adelbert Osborn and Ethel Wells Osborn. Mr. Osborn was educated at Fort Plain High School.

Mr. Osborn was most recently employed as a supervisor of the dietary department at Montgomery Meadows in Amsterdam. He was the former owner of Ozzie's News Room in Fort Plain until 1990. He retired November 2002.
He was a lifelong area resident.

He served as a track vehicle mechanic in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.

He was of the Methodist faith.

On June 8, 1957 in Fort Plain, NY, he married LaVerna Hoke Osborn, who died July 15, 1999. He was also predeceased by one son, Rick Osborn in 1992; and two brothers, William and Lester Osborn.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Andrea L. and Joseph Mancini of Fonda, NY; his loving grandchildren, Christopher and Cara Mancini of Fonda, NY; one sister and brother-in-law, Nona and Gene Becker of Fort Plain, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins; several aunts and uncles.

At Ozzie's request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ozzie's memory, may make memorial contributions to Mended Heart Inc., Chapter 310, c/o Barb Ellinson, 97 W. Broadway, Salem, New York 12865 or to Fonda-Fultonville Football Backers, c/o FFCS, 112 Old Johnstown Road, Fonda, NY 12068.

William E. Richardson

Mr. William E. Richardson, age 75, died Monday evening, July 21, 2003 at Montgomery Meadows, Amsterdam, where he had resided the past eight years.

He was born April 26, 1928 in Gloversville, the son of George Sr. and Ellen Schrum Richardson. He attended Gloversville schools, and was employed by Independent Leather Company of Gloversville for over 30 years until his retirement.

Mr. Richardson loved to listen to country music.
He is survived by three sisters, Virginia Lachmayer, Jane Schrum and Dorothy Calhoun, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Howard Richardson, George Richardson Jr. and Edward Richardson.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 315 Alberta Drive, Suite 102, Amherst, NY 14226 to the American Heart Assoc., 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.

Cola Wilson

Cola Wilson, 79, of Mountain Road, Mayfield, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at home following a long illness. He was born January 11, 1924 in the town of Northampton. The son of the late Floyd and Minnie Rosa Wilson.

Cola served in the Army during World War II. He was a self-employed logger until retiring. He was a lifetime resident of the area and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Wilson Sr. of Mayfield, Mack Wilson of Gloversville and Charles Wilson of the state of Washington. Two daughters, Deanne Deming of Hope and Zella Allen of the town of Providence. One brother, Douglas Wilson of Gloversville. Seven sisters, Martha Crowter of Mayfield, Jennie Tanner, Pearl Shannon, Gladys Wilson, Bernice Clark, Rita VanAvery and Ruth Schrader, all of Gloversville. Twenty-eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by one son, Terry Wilson.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 23, 2003 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Service, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Klueg officiating. Burial will be in King Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Northampton Ambulance Corps.

Francis B. Guzielek 'Fred'

Francis B. Guzielek "Fred", 72, of Pine Ave., Johnstown, Monday, July 21, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam after a long illness.

He was born July 15, 1931 in Amsterdam, the son of Francis and Evelyn DeForest Guzielek. He graduated from St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam in 1949. Then Mr. Guzielek graduated from University of Tampa in 1959 with a degree in physical education.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-'52.
Mr. Guzielek taught and coached basketball for St. Mary's High School in Little Falls, then came to Johnstown where he taught in the Johnstown School System and also coached basketball for three years, retiring in 1986. Then he substituted in area schools.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and Johnstown Eagles. He also enjoyed all sports and traveling.

He was married on Oct. 25, 1952 in Amsterdam, NY, to Theresa Zaklukiewicz, who survives.

He is survived by sons, Fred Guzielek and his wife Marcia of Johnstown, Charles Guzielek and his wife Linda of Mechanicville and William Guzielek and his wife Dorothy of Johnstown; sister, Ann Lipert of Amsterdam; and nine grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Johnstown with the Rev. Patrick Iannotti as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Amsterdam. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JAVAC or the Johnstown Library.
