Norman W. Beauchamp
MOHAWK — Norman W. Beauchamp, 80, of 45 Catherine St., Mohawk, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born Feb. 27, 1922 in Piercefield, son of the late Edward and Lucy (Scanlon) Beauchamp. Norman was educated in St. Francis de Sales Catholic schools and graduated from Herkimer High School, class of 1940. Mr. Beauchamp had been a longtime resident of Herkimer, moving to Mohawk in 1957.
After graduation, Norman entered the military with the NY National Guard 27th Division, enlisting on Oct. 15, 1940. He served in Hawaii; was reassigned to the 10th Mountain Division in 1943, training and eventually deployed to Italy in January, 1945. Norman was wounded in March, 1945 near Della Spe, Italy. While serving his country he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. In September, 1945 Norman was honorably discharged from the service from Halloran Hospital.
His marriage to Helen Tresohlavy took place on Sept. 28, 1946 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer.
Mr. Beauchamp retired from the former Sperry Rand, Univac, where he held the position of electronics technician. Later he worked and retired from the former Mohawk Data Science in East Herkimer.
Mr. Beauchamp was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk. He was also a life member of the following organizations: Military Order of the Purple Heart General Herkimer, Chapter 130; Herkimer VFW Post No. 4915; Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the 27th Infantry Division Association and was past commander.
His first priority in life was his family, and he proved himself a wonderful and caring husband, father, and grandfather, fulfilling each of those roles with loving warmth and great success.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Helen; his beloved children, Norma Gruendike and husband Mark of Kenmore, Benjamin Beauchamp of Natick, Mass., Wallace Beauchamp and wife Lois of Gaithersburg, Md., Christine Fitzwater and husband David of Jacksonville, Fla., Patricia Roberts and husband Jeffrey of Herkimer, and Pamela Bello and husband David of Herkimer; nine cherished grandchildren, Peter and Jeffrey Gruendike, Kathryn and David Beauchamp, Renee, Matthew and Rachel Roberts, and Brianne and Brandon Bello; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was predeceased by six sisters, Alma Rose, Phoebe Fuller, Irene McMahon, Blanche Alosio, Bernadette Cartwright and Evelyn Strafel; and four brothers, Joseph, Benjamin, Oscar, and Theodore Beauchamp.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 9:15 a.m.. from the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N.  Washington St., Herkimer and at 10 a.m. from Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend James Steuer, pastor.
Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 31 from 5-8 p.m. Interment will full military honors will take place at a later date. Members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, General Herkimer Chapter No. 130 are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday evening at 7 p.m. for the services.
The family would like to thank Valley Health Services and Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown for the care and compassion shown to Norman during his short stay. All memorial contributions may be sent to Weller Library, Mohawk. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Frank DeLorenzo
LITTLE FALLS — Mr. Frank DeLorenzo, age 90, of 50 Hancock St., beloved husband of Nancy (Jacopelle) DeLorenzo, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday afternoon, May 27, 2002, at Little Falls Hospital. He was surrounded by his beloved family at the time of his passing.
Mr. DeLorenzo was born in Utica on April 10, 1912, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Scalise) DeLorenzo. The DeLorenzo family moved to Italy when Frank was a young man and he received education in Italian schools.
Frank came back to the United States and was united in marriage to the former Nancy Jacopelle on September 3, 1938, at St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. and Mrs. DeLorenzo provided their family and each other with endless love and support.
Mr. DeLorenzo first accepted employment with the former Melrose Slipper Company in Little Falls where he was employed for 15 years. he then retired as foreman after 27 years of service from the former Allegro Shoe Company, Little Falls. He was a member of the AARP and the Rock City Senior Citizens.
Mr. DeLorenzo always listened to the needs of other people with support and sympathy. He loved his family and was ever generous to them and to his many friends. He had an abiding affection for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and held them dear to his heart. All in all, Frank's strength of character and his personnel traits were such that he created a strong and lasting influence on all those lives he touched.
He leaves his beloved wife of almost 64 years, Nancy of the home address; a son, Joseph Frank DeLorenzo of Rochester; two daughters, Kathleen Wyraz and husband Thomas of Whitesboro, Anita Colangelo and husband Louis of Syracuse; a brother, Peter DeLorenzo and wife Fannie of Little Falls; four cherished grandchildren, Tom Wyraz and wife Lisa of New Hartford, David Colangelo and wife Anne of Syracuse, Darin Colangelo and wife Alicia of Syracuse, Pamela Maring and husband Kerry of New Hartford; four cherished great-grandchildren, Kyle and Alex Maring, Maria Rose and Stephen Colangelo. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Rossi and Josephine DeLorenzo.
There will be an hour of visitation on Thursday, May 30, from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. at the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to Mr. DeLorenzo funeral service commencing at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, May 30 in the chapel of the Enea Funeral Home Parish, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls and at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated. The family will receive friends and relatives in the vestibule of the church following mass. Committal service will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Kindly consider contributions in Mr. DeLorenzo's memory to the Holy Family Parish Restoration Fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home. Kevin E. 'Ah-Ah' Doxtader
DOLGEVILLE — Kevin E. "Ah-Ah" Doxtader, 3, of 5 Spencer St., Dolgeville, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 14, 1999, in Cooperstown, the son of James M. and Margaret Doxtader Sr., Dolgeville. He is survived by his parents, James and Margaret; two brothers, James M. Doxtader Jr. and his wife Kristy, Dolgeville, and Charles M. Doxtader, Dolgeville; two sisters, Karen Lyon and her husband David, Dolgeville, and Patricia Doxtader, New Orleans, LA; his paternal grandmother, Edna Doxtader, Dolgeville; uncles, Richard and John Doxtader of Dolgeville; aunts and uncles, Mary Ann and Milford Madison of Dolgeville and Betty and Raymond Congdon of Little Falls; aunts, Donna Foden and Tracy Miller of Dolgeville; a nephew, Chase S. Doxtader; a niece, Hayiley M. Doxtader; and many cousins and special friends, especially Commissioner Ervin Fuller and his wife Carlotta, Kim Barnes, Betty Lynch and their families. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2002, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, North Helmer Avenue, Dolgeville, where a Mass of the Angels will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin. Clifford Edward Balder Sr.
ILION — Mr. Clifford Edward Balder Sr., 75, of Forge Hill Estates, Ilion, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2002, at Faxton Hospital in Utica.
He was born on November 28, 1926, in Hudson, the son of the late Robert and Mildred (Carle) Balder. He lived most of his life in Hudson and Columbia County and Yardley, Pa., along with Richmond, Va., before moving to Stratford in 1978 and then to Ilion in 2000. Before retiring he was employed as quality control manager of the East Coast Division of Marshall Erdman and Associates of Madison, WI, builders of medical office buildings.
Clifford was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Seabees of the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 in the Pacific. On August 31, 1947, he married Evelyn Paquette at St. Mary's Church, Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three daughters and three sons, Joan Cook and her husband James of Sauquoit, Clifford Balder Jr. and his wife Marjorie of Stratford, Barbara Finch of Sandown, NH, David Balder and his wife Catherine of Stratford, Mary Beth Scannell and her husband Robert of Groveland, MA, and Christopher Balder of Seattle; five grandchildren, Leah, Andrew and Nicholas Scannell of Groveland, MA, and Megan and Steven Balder of Stratford; also a brother-in-law, Charles Smith of Deer Isle, ME. His sister, Polly Smith, preceded him in death.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, on Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m. Memorials in Clifford's name may be considered to the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts, Little Falls.
Arrangements are by the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort, 894-8000.

Paul Adasek
SYRACUSE — Paul Adasek, 86, formerly of 239 Loomis Street, Little Falls, and since 1995, a resident of Green Point Senior Living, Liverpool, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002, at the Veteran Administration Hospital, Syracuse. He was born on January 9, 1916, in Clayville, the son of the late John and Susie (Duga) Adasek. He was educated in Clayville schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 52 years the former Elizabeth (Betty) Sefcik on February 7, 1942, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mrs. Adasek predeceased him on October 21, 1994. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hermann-Venuti and her husband, Dominick, Syracuse; two sisters, Betty Zeman and Anna Marko both of Little Falls; two grandsons, Scott Hermann, Cicero and Matthew Hermann, Clay. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls with the Rev. Carl Evans, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls, officiating. Arrangements are by the Chapman Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Adasek be considered to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls, N.Y. 13365. Helen Sikorski
LITTLE FALLS — Helen Sikorski, 84, of 599 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Little Falls Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on Feb. 26, 1918 in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Boguslaw and Wladyslawa (Chmura) Sikorski. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School as well as a graduate of St. Lawrence University with a baccalaureate degree in science and a graduate of Rutgers University with a completion of the Supervisory Development Program for Industry. She is survived by several cousins and many dear and close friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 9:30 a.m. from the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of Main and John streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls. There are no calling hours.

Hilda N. Voorhees
DOLGEVILLE — Hilda N. Voorhees, 85, of 559 Hopson Road, Dolgeville, passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, where she had been a patient since April 12, 2002. She was born on May 31, 1916 in Dolgeville, the daughter of the late William and Olga (Youngblut) Kiesel. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School class of 1934. She was united in marriage to Herman W. Voorhees on May 3, 1936 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Dolgeville. Mr. Voorhees predeceased her on Nov. 15, 1980. She is survived by her son, Frederick W. Voorhees and his wife Nancy, of Ilion; her daughter, Renita O. Martin of Dolgeville; her brother, Bodo Kiesel and his wife Mildred of Dolgeville; five grandchildren, Michael J. Martin of Wisconsin, Natalie Martin of Dolgeville, Frederick Voorhees and Mark Voorhees and his wife Debbie, both of North Carolina, and Jeffery Voorhees; three great-grandchildren, Michael Keeler, Devan Martin, and Blake Voorhees. In keeping with Mrs. Voorhees' wishes, cremation will take place. Graveside memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family with final interment taking place in Dolgeville Cemetery, Dolgeville. Martin 'Marty' Skandera
HERKIMER — Martin "Marty Skandera, age 89, of Folts Street passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon May 25, 2002 in his home. He was born on Nov. 12, 1912 in Mahoney, Pa., son of the late Paul and Anna Cernak Skandera. At a young age, Marty and his family came to Herkimer County and settled in Van Hornesville where they owned and operated a dairy farm. He was educated in Van Hornesville school.. Surviving him are his sons, Martin P. (Skip) and his wife Claudia Skandera and Thomas and his wife Marge Skandera, all of Herkimer; five grandchildren, Martin P. (Bubby) Skandera II of Ilion, Amanda Skandera of Chadwicks, Rebecca Skandera of Beckett, Mass., William Jaquish of Herkimer, Susan Jaquish of Ilion; two nieces, Mildred Engert and Betty Lou Emrich, both of Herkimer; a nephew, John D. Skandera of the town of Stark; and dear friends Janet Bellstedt and Steven Hamill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Dale Dickerson, pastor, will officiate. A committal service with military honors will take place on Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
