Powell, David C. : 62 of New Hope, PA died Saturday, April 1, 2000 at home. He was born and raised in Stottville, NY. He received his BS in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University and his MS in Civil Engineering from RPI.
Mr. Powell was traffic operations and safety engineer for the US Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration in Trenton, NJ. He had been director of the operations bureau for the NYS Department of Transportation in Albany, NY from 1984-1995. He was a regional traffic engineer for the NYS Department of Transportation, Region 4 in Rochester, NY from 1969-1984.
Mr. Powell was a Fellow in the Institute of Transportation Engineers, a member of the NYS Association of Transportation Engineers, a member of NCHRP Project Panel 3-38, a member of the TRB Committee on Traffic Signal Systems and a member of the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Mr. Powell was a member of the Town of Solebury, PA Planning Commission and a member of the Board of Directors for the Fieldstone Townhouse Association.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Snyder Powell; his children, Dori James, Fairport, NY; William Powell, Selkirk, NY, Mary Judd, Orlando, FL and Suzanne Fiori, Middle Island, NY; his mother, Dorothy Raab Powell, Stottville, NY; his grandchildren, Trevor James, Lily Powell and Harmony Fiori.
Viewing hours will be Wednesday, April 5, 2000 from 6-8 p.m. at Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, Green Street, Hudson, NY. Funeral Services are at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2000 at West Ghent Reform Church. Burial will follow Funeral Services at West Ghent Cemetery next to the Church.
