Knight, Mabel Anderson

NEWARK: Died peacefully in her home,
January 1, 2003 at the age of 101. She
leaves a daughter, Nancy (Kemp) Bloomer
of Newark and a son, Thomas (Kathleen)
Knight of Greenwich, CT; six grandchildren,
and thirteen great grandchildren. Mrs.
Knight was predeceased by her husband,
T. Spencer Knight in 1997 and three brothers,
Logan, Charles and Robert Anderson.
Mrs Knight was born in Moberly,
Missouri on August 22, 1901 the daughter
of Jesse Logan and Mabel Felton
Anderson. She graduated from the
University of Washington and came to
Newark following her marriage in 192.
Mrs. Knight was very active in the work of
the Episcopal Church, serving as President
of the Diocesen Churchwomen and on the
Board of the Church Home for many
years. She and her husband enjoyed bird
watching all over the world. Burial will be
in Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her
name may be made to St Mark's Episcopal
Church, 400 South Main Street, Newark,
New York 14511.

Majewicz, Jeanne A.

PALMYRA: Died on Thursday, January 2,
2002 at her home, following a long illness.
She was 55 years of age. Mrs. Majewicz is
survived by her husband Edward; daughter
Karen Lyn Majewicz; son Peter Ivan
Majewicz; mother Esther Brown Downs
and sisters Linda Downs Greene and
Donna Downs Hempy. She was predeceased
by her father Robert Downs.
Jeanne was born on March 28, 1947 in
Watertown, New York to Robert and
Esther Brown Downs. A 1965 graduate of
South Jefferson High School, Mrs.
Majewicz received her Bachelors Degree
from Rochester Institute of Technology in
1969 and continued her studies with an
internship at North Western University in
Chicago. She was employed as a medical
Technologist at Highland Hospital in
Rochester. Jeanne and Edward John J.
Majewicz were married on May 2, 1970 in
the Adams Center Baptist Church.

Clinic, 1351 Mt. Hope Ave., Rochester,
NY 14620.

Manktelow, Roger D.

WILLIAMSON: Entered into rest on Dec.
30, 2002 in his 62nd year. A Xerox retiree
and past member of the Williamson Fire
Company. Survived by his beloved and
devoted wife of 40 years, Ann (Shove)
Manktelow; loving children, Brian
(Wendy) Manktelow of Lyons, Douglas
(Marcy) Manktelow of Williamson,
Deanne (Timothy) Kuter of Williamson;
special grandchildren, Mark, Taylor, Erica,
David, Morgan and Emily; sister, Sally
(Ronald "Red") Thompson of Williamson;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Shirley
Siler, Raymond (Julie) Shove, Erwin
(Nancy) Proseus, Bob (Gail) Shove;
nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins
and friends. Interment, Marion Cemetery.

Morris, Neva M.

PALMYRA: Died on Tuesday, December
31, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital at the
age of 82. Neva was born on June 13,
1920, in Rochester, New York to Faye and
Emma Dodge Thompson. She was married
to Robert K. Morris in 1942 in
Buffalo, New York. Mrs. Morris is survived
by her daughters Kathryn (Edward)
Morris Lang of Hampton, NH and Dale
(Marty) Carr of Palmyra; sons Craig
Morris of Clifton Springs, Robert L.
Morris of North Carolina and James
(Judy) Morris of Newark; fifteen grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren. She
was predeceased by her husband Robert
who died on October 14, 1993; sisters
Ruth and Myra and brothers Carl, George
and Ray. Burial in the Fairville Cemetery.

Ryan, Mary L.

MARION: Entered into rest on Dec. 29,
2002 at the age of 91. She is survived by a
niece, Sylvia (George) Miller of West
Nyack, NY; sister-in-law, Laura Ryan of
Canandaigua; many cousins & friends.
She was a retiree of General Railway
Signal.

Santiago, Melanie L.

NEWARK: Dec. 31, 2002, Melanie Lynn
Santiago, 17. She will be missed by her
parents, Roberto & Kym Santiago; brothers,
David & Anthony Santiago; half
brother, Edwin (Jackie) Santiago of PR;
sister, Angelique Santiago; paternal grandfather,
Jesus Santiago of PR; maternal
grandmother, Barbara Muller & her friend,
Hector Hernendez; many aunts, uncles &
cousins including a great, great uncle
Ralph (Gertrude) Bardo; a very special
friend, Jessica Scott. Melanie was predeceased
by her paternal grandmother
Victoria Santiago in August of 2002.Burial
in E. Newark Cemetery. She was a junior
at Newark High School and had worked
for Wegmans in Newark for nearly 3
years. In memory of Melanie, please make
contributions to the church or to a charity
of choice.

Sawyer, Nancy C.

SAVANNAH: Passed away Friday,
December 27, 2002 at age 52. Beloved
wife of Willis Sawyer. Mother of Cory
(Sean) Jackson of Somerville, MA and
Christopher (Amy) Nixon of Seminole,
FL. Cherished daughter of Dorothy Welch
and the late Robert Welch of South Butler,
NY. Loving sister of Susan (Peter) Staxen
of Plano, TX, Judy (Kenny) Kelley of the
Colony, TX and Trudy (Tommie) Clay of
South Butler, NY. The family wishes
donations be sent to Clifton Springs
Hospital Foundation, 2 Coulter Rd.,
Clifton Springs, NY 14432, or the Wolcott
Baptist Church, Wolcott, NY 14590.

Tack, D. Mildred

FAIRVILLE: D. Mildred Tack, 89 died
Tuesday (December 31, 2002) at her home
on Rt. 88 in Fairville. She is survived by
two sons, Robert (Connie) Tack of Newark
and Carl (Gladys) Tack of Newark ; two
daughters, Joann (Curtis) DeBrine of
Williamson , Shirley (John) Martin of
Newark; twelve grandchildren; twenty great
grandchildren; three great great
grandchildren; three sisters-in-law,
Elizabeth Glerum of Newark, Irene Pulver
of Newark; Anna Mortimer of Phelps.
Mrs. Tack was predeceased by her husband,
Arthur, a grandchild, a great grandchild
and her brother, Peter Glerum. Burial
will be in the Fairville Cemetery.
Memorials in her name can be made to the
Fairville Presbyterian Church or the
Wayne County Office of the Aging,
Medical Alert Program.

Cramer, Jennie

PALMYRA: Died on January 9, 2003
at age 89. Predeceased by her husband
Milo, grandson Michael Cramer. She is
survived by her son Douglas Cramer;
daughter Donna (Douglas) Arnold,
granddaughters Dawn (Kerry) French,
Yvonne Cramer, 2 great grandchildren
Megan & Kylie French; and several
good friends. All are invited to attend
her memorial service 2PM Saturday
January 18th at McGUIRE/HARGRAVE
& MURPHY FUNERAL
HOME 123 East Jackson Street,
Palmyra. Interment Whitehaven
Memorial Park. Donations may be
made to Ontario-Yates Co. Hospice or a
charity of one’s choice in her memory.

DeCracker, Margaret L.

LYONS: Margaret L. DeCracker, 85
died December 12, 2002, at Park Place
Living Center, Kalamazoo, MI, where
she had lived for several years. She was
born in Lyons, NY, the daughter of
Walter T. and Agnes Driscoll Gillette.
She served in the Village Clerk's office
in Lyons and later worked at Eastman
Kodak in Rochester. With her husband,
Leslie G. DeCracker, she moved to
Rochester, then on to Bloomfield Hills,
MI. At his retirement, they resided in
Englewood, FL. She is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law, Susan and
Larry Ellison of Kalamazoo; and sisters-
in-law, Ella DeCracker of Newark,
NY, Marjorie Gillette of Arizona, and
Irene Hales of Florida. Preceding her in
death was her infant daughter in 1949,
Leslie DeCracker in 2000, brothers,
Hubert, Edwin, and Larry Gillette and a
sister, Hazel Coon. A Memorial Service
was held December 15 at the Gull Lake
United Methodist Church in Richland,
MI. Expressions of sympathy may be
made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 274 N.
