Lillian F. Lutz

Died: Friday, December 31, 2010

Lillian F. Lutz, 88, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2010. A longtime Rocky Point resident, Lillian was born icon in Queens on Aug. 3, 1922, and regularly summered with her family in Rocky Point. Later, at a New Year's Eve party in town, she met George Lutz, whose family had also moved from Queens to Rocky Point and ultimately owned and operated the bowling alley and skating rink on the corner of Broadway and Prince Road. George became her husband that May of 1946. Son Larry was born icon the following year; son Lee was born icon the next year and a few years later daughter Lenore arrived.

Working side-by-side with her husband, Lillian helped grow his land surveying practice in Rocky Point while managing the family household on Hallock Landing Road.

Lillian was active in Eastern Star, the distaff wing of the Freemasons, in which George rose to eventually lead the Port Jefferson Lodge. She also was an active participant in Lions Club charitable activities for many decades alongside her husband.

Upon retirement in 1977 Lillian and George moved to Lantana, Fla., where they enjoyed a good life together for over 30 years at their lakeside home.

Lillian moved back to Long Island to be near family in April of last year, and celebrated Mother's Day and her birthday surrounded by family and friends.

Lillian was predeceased by George in November 2009. She is survived by Larry, Lee and wife Francesca, Lenore and her husband John Rogers, grandchildren Pamela, Mark, Jaclyn and Jeff, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial took place at Palm Beach Memorial Gardens in Lantana on Jan. 5.

Domenick T. Azzara

Died: Friday, December 31, 2010

Domenick T. Azzara, 60, of St. James died on Dec. 31, 2010.

He was the husband of the late Claire Azzara; the beloved husband of Annette Azzara; the cherished father of Peter V. Azzara, Matthew J. Azzara and Gregory T. Azzara; the devoted son of Rosetta Azzara; and the loving brother of Marie Ardolino and Roseanne Aquilina.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Jan. 4 at Sts. Philip and James R.C. Church in St. James. Interment followed at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Smithtown.

Arrangements entrusted to Hawkins & Davis Funeral Home of Smithtown.

Kathleen Corrigan

Died: Monday, January 31, 2011

Kathleen Corrigan of Port Jefferson Station died on Jan 31. She was a devoted speech pathologist for Sachem School District.

Mrs. Corrigan was the loving wife of Brendan Corrigan; loving mother of Maureen Corrigan; beloved daughter of James O'Connell and the late Ruth O'Connell; dear sister of Kelly O'Bryan, Barbara O'Connell and Evelyn O'Connell; and cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held today, Thursday, Feb. 3, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, at 10 am at Infant Jesus R.C. Church. Interment to follow at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery in Flushing.

Arrangements entrusted to the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes of Port Jefferson Station.

Anthony Santora

Died: Monday, January 31, 2011

Anthony Santora, 55, of Ridge died on Jan. 31. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of Joseph and Lucille (Maggio) Santora. He was a mechanic employed by TMS Automotive in Middle Island.

Mr. Santora is survived by his parents; his son, Marc Santora of Nesconset; his sisters, Joanne Santora of Ridge, Angela Black of Ridge, Josephine Romano of Rocky Point and Vivian Santora of New York City; and his brothers, Michael Santora of Roslyn Heights and Vincent Santora of San Diego, Calif.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Feb. 4 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Rocky Point. A private cremation was arranged by the family.

All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.

Joseph Mitarotondo

Died: Monday, January 24, 2011

Joseph Rocco Mitarotondo, of Miller Place, died on Jan. 24. He was born icon March 19, 1925, in New York, New York.

He was the beloved husband of Camille; loving father of William and his wife, Barbara; Joseph and his wife, Jeanne; Mary Sanders and her husband, Robert; John and his wife, Denise; and Thomas; cherished grandfather of John Jr., Pamela, Matthew, Joseph Jr., Theresa and Donna Marie; dear brother of Laura DeGennaro.

A funeral Mass will be held today, Thursday, Jan. 27, at 10 am at St. Louis de Montfort R.C. Church, Sound Beach. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes of Miller Place.

Andrew C. Schmitt

Died: Monday, January 24, 2011
Age: 81

Andrew C. Schmitt, 81, of Micco, Fla., died on Monday, Jan. 24, at the Sebastian River Medical Center in Florida.

He was born icon June 4, 1929, in Brooklyn, and was a resident of Micco for 16 years after leaving Port Jefferson Station. He was a fire chief for 56 years at the Levittown Fire Department, the Terryville Fire Department, and at the Micco Volunteer Fire Department from 1991 to 2006.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joan Schmitt of Sebastian; his son, Andrew Schmitt Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; his daughters, Barbara De Maisi of Mastic Beach, Gail Schmitt of Medford and Alison Schmitt of Melville; his brother, George Schmitt of New York City; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 27 at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes of Port Jefferson Station. Burial took place at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Irene Miller

Died: Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Irene L. Miller, 82, of Rocky Point, died on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Hedwig Chmielewski. She was a secretary with Keystone in New York City.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, George F. Miller; her daughter, Patricia Shara of New Jersey; and her son, George Miller of New York City. She was predeceased by her daughter, Vicki Miller, and her son, Teddy Miller.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the funeral home. A private cremation was arranged by family.

All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.

Mary Monteleone

Died: Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Mary Monteleone of Ridge and formerly of Ozone Park, Queens, died on August 30. She was born icon August 22, 1934, in Brooklyn.

Mrs. Monteleone was the beloved wife of Joseph; loving mother of Joseph and his wife, Carolann; and Bill and his wife, Jodi; cherished grandmother of Christopher, Alix, Nicholas and Vincent; dear sister of Betty Milano.

Visitation today, Thursday, Sept. 1 at the the funeral home from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 2 at 10 am at St. Mark R.C. Church, Shoreham. Interment at Calverton National Cemetery.

Robert Kinney

Died: Monday, August 29, 2011

Robert Kinney of East Setauket, formerly of Smithtown, died on Aug. 29. He was a retired plant manager with Rosco Tools in Smithtown.

Mr. Kinney was the cherished husband of Evelyn (née McCabe); the loving father of Margaret Moore, Robert Kinney, Sr. Janet Kinney CSJ, Kathleen Griswold, Edward and Elizabeth Sanders; the beloved grandfather of Sara, Erin, Shannon, Mary, Catherine, Robert, David and Samuel and great-grandfather of Luke; and the devoted brother of Hazel Peiffer.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held today, Thursday, September 1 at 11 am at St. James R.C. Church in Setauket.Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Providence House, 703 Lexington Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11221.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Maher Family of the St. James Funeral Home in St. James.

Angelo Mauceri

Died: Thursday, August 25, 2011

Hon. Angelo Mauceri

Honorable Angelo M. Mauceri, age 82 of Stony Brook, passed peacefully on Aug. 25.

They Shall Not Be Forgotten.

Proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Korean War.

Hon. Angelo M. Mauceri retired as a Supreme Court judge for Suffolk County District Court, Hauppauge.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane; loving father of Claudia (Daniel) Capra, Cynthia (Albert) Lange, Carole Mauceri and Christine Garrett; cherished grandfather of Kevin, James, Tracey, Christine, Eric, Michele and John; adored brother of Gwen Salimando.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Hauppauge. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to the Vigliante family of The Branch Funeral Home of Smithtown.

Josephine Palladino

Died: Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Age: 87

Josephine Palladino, 87, of Ridge died on Aug. 23. Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Rose (LaCrocce) Armato.

She was a homemaker, in Ridge.

Mrs. Palladino is survived by one daughter, Diane Cohen of Melville; and her granddaughter, Alexandra Cohen. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfonso Palladino.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 25 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Rocky Point.

Interment followed in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton.

Arrangements were entrusted to Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.
